I flashed Doogee's Android 4.4.2. firmware release, and It's much better than 4.2.
I do have what seems to be an odd issue. On first boot I did the initial setup -- the series of four or five screens before the home screen. There is even a brief tutorial which you can view or cancel.
About a week later I did a factory reset from the off state using the volume up + power button, and when the phone booted I went directly to the home screen -- no setup.
Any comments as to why?
Thanks.

A few days ago, I upgraded the firmware on my NX785QC8G (Nextbook 8) tablet to KitKat, using the update available from the manufacturer. This proved to be a mistake, as the new firmware runs at less than half the speed of the previous ICS firmware, frequently freezing up completely. I would like to revert to the previous firmware, and/or an alternate ROM. I know that several alternate ROMs have been released for this device by developers. However, the technique for rebooting into flash mode that worked on ICS does not appear to work on KitKat, namely holding down both the Volume-Up key and power key until the screen goes dark, then releasing only the power key and waiting until the tablet boots into flash mode. Now, I held down the Volume-Up key for about three minutes, without the tablet ever rebooting.
Can anyone tell me how to enter flash mode on KitKat? Does anyone know of a source for a flashable version of the ICS firmware for this device?
I have a Verizon LG-VK410 GPad 7.0 LTE. It is currently running Android version 5.0.2. I have rooted, but am not able to boot into recovery mode to install a custom rom(like one from CM). I have tried using the power button with volume down, release power button while still holding volume down when LG logo appears for a few seconds then hold volume down, up, and power button at same time combination. Sorry for the run on sentence! Multiple times and different combinations. I have tried using the following apps: Flashify, Quick Boot, Reboot. All of which failed! So I guess the next question is, am I stuck with Lollipop? Or can I put a custom rom of Marshmallow from CM? I am stunned.....I am really grateful for this site, and the people who take time to help people like me!!! Very awesome in todays world! Thank you XDA!
I was wondering the same thing. I rooted my VK410 using KingRoot, with no issues. Then I'd flash a new ROM, but it never took. After the reboot, it would go right back to the current OS.
I have a boost mobile LG Stylo that I rooted last November using 6th_Hokage's custom room method provided here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/development/boost-stylo-5-1-1-zv5-custom-rom-v1-t3216307 on this forum. I used the rooted-zv5-system.img file. All has been well for 7 moths until last night when I was using Google Chrome and the app hung (which happens occasionally, not frequently). Had to pull and reinstert battery and upon booting, I am getting in this weird loop of Setup/Activation Wizard - Wifi Connect - and TalkBack Activation that I cannot get out of. HOME and RECENT SCREENS buttons are disabled, BACK button is enabled. I am assuming some corruption took place.
Can anyone point me in the direction of steps to take on resolving this? I am good either going back to factory or root, I just need my phone working. I have reviewed this forum, and am confused on best option on how to proceed, or do I have a permanent brick.
Thanks so much in advance for the assistance!
I'd reset it from recovery mode. I reset my phone whenever it acts wonky. When you do reset it in recovery do it like 3 times like you are clearing it out to put in a rom. If all else fails you can at least flash the rooted rom or original rom again, Good Luck! At least you have root, I'm on 6.0 and no root sux big time!

Thanks so much. Cool, I hope it is an easy fix. Because I am pretty much a noob with this stuff, I have never "cleared it out" to put in a rom. I might have done it, but do not recall. I will have to review my process steps again to make sure. Any chance you can provide some step by step instruction that I can follow with regard to resetting and clearing out from recovery mode?.
Here are the steps I found online, does this look correct to you...a hard factory reset? Is this ok even with rooted phone?
Hard reset LG G Stylo
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear
When still pressing Volume Down key, press Power key one more
Release Volume down key when Factory Data Reset menu appears
Use Volume key to select “Yes”
Pres Power key to confirm.
I do still have the rooted rom I originally used and instructions from 6th_Hockage...are you saying that if I just flash that again following the steps I used to originally root the phone that this will work even though the phone is already rooted?
Thanks!
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear AND it says "Recovery Mode"
You'll get a recovery menu and you use the volume up and down keys to highlight the "factory reset" after highlighting "factory reset" press the power key to activate selection. Do that three times and you will have a clean slate of your rooted rom.
You don't have to re-flash the reset will be the rooted rom
Did it work???

I upgraded my S7 Edge yesterday to Nougat and since my phone has been on the fritz. Restarting randomly and other odd issues.
Anyways today its not just small issues anymore. as of about an hour ago it doesn't boot at all anymore.
I've tried holding VOL DOWN + POWER for more than 10 seconds.
I've tried holding VOL UP + HOME + POWER for more than 10 seconds.
None of these are doing anything. It's fully charged because it's been plugged in for a while now.
Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
Ok, quick update. Just after posting I was able to reset it by VOL DOWN + POWER for like 2 minutes, and then it restarted.
Can anyone suggest a way to fix all these problems, such as a downgrade. Is that possible?
I assume you would be able to downgrade. When I was on the beta I downgraded because I missed root.
Or you could try reinstalling nougat and see if that helps.

You can definitely downgrade. I updated to nougat and went back to marshmallow by just flashing the stock MM image
So another update. My phone is completely bricked now. After my last update I was able to do a full restore. It came on, I went through setup. Then about 10 minutes later. I tried to wake it from sleep, nothing happened. Tried VOL UP, VOL DOWN, all the resetting, rebooting, etc... and as of this morning, nothing works.
I'm going into T-Mobile today.
Hi there,
i got a Vanku AA0611B heat unit a week ago. Rooting worked fine but yesterday i moved the default media player from system apps to normal apps and now i am stuck in black screen. I am searching for the stock ROM to recover. Also it would be nice to know if someone knows how to enter the recovery. The ways i found with holding reset sadly does not work.
Is it an MTCD/E device, post MCU version
How can i do this with black screen and not booting?
It is booting up again. Tomorrow i will look up the exact MCU Version.
The support sent me a link with the original firmware and the mcu image( https://mega.nz/folder/zCRizRAa#Fb966XsXBuTZDoVPS532mA )
The support told me, that the update should start automatically but it didn't. I had to enter recovery.
For others having problems: the manual says "Press Home-Button and hold, press RST and release, release Home. Press Home and release"
My problem was that i thought the Home-Button is the button which brings back the home screen and has a house-icon on it, but the manual is talking about the volume knob.
The SD-Slots are not marked. The SD-Card must be insert in the left slot.
From there you can install dmcu.img and update.zip within a few minutes
MCU Version is MTCE_HT_v3.71_1
So maybe a mod can move this topic to MTCE
