WP8 on M8 - HTC One M8 for Windows

Wow, Ghost closed the other thread way too early without proper info...
Thread closed,
It is unlikely to be able to convert our m8 to a windows phone with out a custom bootloader as the hardware is different between the two devices.
Many thanks,
Ghost
Hardware is EXACTLY the same. Once we get past the bootloader issues it shouldn't be a problem to go back and forth. Sure there are things to overcome, but it can be done.
I know there are more than a few of us who are excited over this prospect, and it's the ONLY reason I haven't sold my M8 yet. As a droid device, I am less than impressed by it, but if we could do this, well, that would be awesome.

I am one of those people eagerly waiting for a chance to dual boot my M8..
Although, I am in the opposite situation than most people: I have the WINDOWS edition M8 and want to install ANDROID on it.
If there is anything I could do to help with the process, I have a Windows version here..
Thanks for the post. Hopefully developers may see this!

HTC Max 4G Forum?

Hey guys,
Could one of the moderators add a forum for the new HTC Max 4G? I know it's a lot of forums to add, but I think this device looks really promising
thanks

i second that. i hope it will work on the att network!
I am assuming that because of this models limited release, it won't be getting a dedicated forum.
Could someone please confirm or deny that Blackstone mods and software are compatible with the Max? If so, then the lack of it's own forum won't be as missed considering the ample community surrounding the HD.
Thank you.
Guys
In About XDA-Devs there is a thread called petitions form users to mods
I think this asking should go there, so you´ll have more chances to get their atention
Just a suggestion.
Looks like a great device, but in order to have a forum, you have to actually have people contributing to it. In all the HTC forums that I read regularly , I have only read one post from someone in Russia, who actually has one.
Any others?
Cool device...I've only seen 2 prior threads on it in the HD section & Networking section.

The first two posts are rather old, the individuals probably weren't aware the device was only being released in Russia. I doubt there are any people actually expecting the Quartz to get a forum of its own at this point.
I simply didn't want to start a new thread for my question, so bumped this one instead. I see where I should have been more clear. Denco7 and Galaxys are correct in their observations that there will likely be little activity directed toward this handset directly. I was just hoping to get some clarification on whether Quartz owners can play with contributions for the HD or not.
In retrospect, starting a new thread in the Blackstone forums would have been more effective.

Here's the original max4g thread that may have some info or you can ask questions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461922&highlight=max4g
Two facts.
1. HardSPL available (by cmonex).
2. First cooked ROMs have been tested by 4pda users.
Hope these would be enough for hosting new forum for Quartz users as their activity will definitely boost.
first of all mods can't make new forums only admin can do that

[Q] Which Android phone for largest XDA dev commmunity

This is not a question about "what is the best rom?" or "which is the best phone?" b/c those questions, as we know, are mostly personal to the user. My question: Which Android phone has the biggest/best XDA development community? I have owned about everything HTC and recently bought a Samsung Fascinate. The Fascinate community appears poised to develop when the smart guys figure out the kernel or froyo is released. But, compared to my Droid Incredible, I don't see the same level of interest from developers. Any thoughts? (Oh yeah, I am limited now to anything working on Verizon).
Probably the Nexus One since it is the official dev phone, however, most HTC phones have huge dev communities (especially the EVO). The Droid line of phones also has a large following, since they're the best you can get on Verizon.
Yes, Nexus One is probably correct and I think they used to make them for Verizon. I am surprised there is not somewhere on the XDA site to go to check number of posts, number of active posters, etc. in each dev site by device. Or, maybe, not many people have this curiosity?

The N1 was originally planned for Sprint and Verizon, but it was never made due to the launch of the Incredible and EVO. You CAN check the number of posts in each forum just by looking at the "stats" column.
The desire forum is also very active. The oldest thread on the first page tends to be about 1hr since last post (at the most).
Revisiting after 7 yrs from the day of post creation.. Let me re ask the question.. Which of the top 5 smartphones today have the largest development community at xda?

Same question I have a Note 5 and it sucks, I'm about to upgrade and want to know what's the easiest to root, right now if I want to get free stuff in apps I have to get on bluestacks then back to my phone.
For reducing the amount of unnecessary duplicate threads this thread needed to get closed. Please post any "what phone should I buy" questions in the dedicated thread.

hi!

my name is dale,
sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum, ive been looking for a newby forum and wanted to introduce myself however its friday and im starting to get tipsy! this site has helped me upgrade my battery pack, and internal memory on my htc hd7, and even replace my screen! i just wanted to say thank you and contribute where possible. ive been looking at wp8 and think its awesome! considering my 3 year old wp7 keeps up with quite a few modern phones with its mods i cant wait to see what the wp8 does. i just wanted to say THANK YOU XDA! no one will even try to argue with me about phones anymore... they only know how to buy them.
i read on a random thread while looking for the newby forum that i can take 10 questions that will show m not a spammer, would anyone mind helping me out with that? this site is HUGE! and also does anyone know of a screachingly fast single core processor/motherboard that will fit my phone? its about due for an upgrade too! or if someone has found a twin core+ that will work with windows 7 devices i'm open for ideas! no unlocking though, im not willing to deal with all of the glitches that come with that.
thanks,
dale

Booting Windows Phone on One M8?

Ok, first of all, I hate Windows Phone. I have no desire to switch from Android to Windows Phone. But I guess I'm curious if it's possible to port the Windows Phone ROM to our device, because I just think it'd be fun to try it out for a few days and check out how the other half lives.
So nobody has any thoughts on this?

[Q] Questions about a Windows 8.1 RUU

So I've been keeping up with the Windows 8 M8 thread that has been going on but it's a lot of information and most of it is just about how good or bad the phone is. I don't care about those things so I was wondering if I could just ask some simple questions and get simple answers. Please don't reply if your reply is "Check the windows 8 thread" or "use search", I have, I tried, just answer the questions please.
1. Will it be possible to make a RUU to put Windows 8 on a regular HTC One M8?
1a. If so, how long do you think it will take?
2. Is anyone talking about making one in one of the other forums?
2a. Is there are beta out for one yet?
Well, the hardware is exactly the same. The only thing is its carrier locked. There's some work to be done before porting it to the regular gsm variant, I guess. Everybody's waiting for an RUU from HTC(if they release one).
Keep your fingers crossed ! But you lose a lot of features that android offers, compared to windows phone.
The windows thread is there for exactly such questions I'm afraid. I don't see why you wouldn't ask there, where the guys keeping up on this can help you?

Moved to Windows 8 M8 Q&A since that's what it's about.

Because I don't spend a lot of time around these parts and don't feel like sorting through 20+ pages of replies and fanboyisms to find information. A simple "No, not now" is more the enough information for me. I don't enjoy fanboying and don't like to bother putting my 2 cents in. I just want to know whats going on and leave.
