[Q] quick question: possible to find meid number without the screen? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 3 Razr HD phones that I'm looking to sell. 2 of them have screens but I'm pretty sure these are not the original screens so the meid numbers are different then what that mother board is. I've connect the phone via factory cable to with fastboot and RSD lite shows N/A for Meid/imei. On adb the command <fastboot getvar all> doesnt show the serials.
is there a way to find the serial number of these phones?

well the only way i could figure if they were clean was to put my sim card into the phone and check myverizon account to see if it showed the RAZR under my account. 2 showed, 1 did not.
thank you anyways.

razr hd
i'm interesting with one of your razr hd sir, would you tell me about a price?(by pm)..thanks.

[Q] HTC Magic bought from China has null IMEI

Hi,
I am a total noob when it comes to Android O/S and i need to know if i am screwed or not when it comes to this phone.
I bought a phone from China on AliExpress and the sole selling point for me was that it said it had a genuine Android O/S on it and not an Android-like user interface.
The phone looked like an HTC Magic but it said it was an ePhone.
When i got the phone, it was branded HTC magic and the box, stickers, everything says HTC on it. I have 2 problems with the phone. It won't connect to Wi-Fi networks or GSM networks. The Wi-Fi gives an error while scanning and turns off the Wi-Fi and the GSM also gives an error while scanning.
After trying to figure out what the problem was, i noticed the IMEI shows as 0000000000 in Android but if i look inside the phone, i do see an actual IMEI number. I have reset the factory settings but that didn't do anything.
Is there a way for me to fix this so Android sees the real IMEI?
Here are details about the phone :
HTC Magic A6161
P/N : 99HFU012-00 B
I am located in Montreal, Canada
and my SIM card is for the Rogers network
Thanks for any help you can provide.
-Pr.
You might not have a genuine HTC phone. Reading around several web forums, Alibaba/AliExpress seem to be advertising legit items, but then send out cheap fakes.
Do you have any pics of what you received? Chances are it isn't even running Android...

Who can success Network Unlock step bypass using TurboSIM?

I've already unlocked D2G.
But, My friends import Locked D2G or Locked Droid pro.
So I'll advice about unlock solution.
We already known follow unlock problems.
1. Must be activation verified by Verizon
2. Almost E-bay unlock code is FAIL.
Some of threads mention about "TurboSIM".
I known the 'TurboSIM' is bypass network unlock procedure.
But I can't see about this TurboSIM use SUCCESS UNLOCK or
SUCCESS BYPASS NETWORK LOCK PROCEDURE.
Who can success network unlock bypass using TurboSIM?
I was the one suggesting a turbosim. However somebody tested already and said turbosim didn't unlock the phone. That was a single report. Turbosim bypassed successfully lock on my older Motorola Milestone (gsm droid 1). There are many turbosim models available, maybe they didn't try the right one?

Yes, another problem is you said that what is perpectly D2G compatible turbosim.
I hate VZW unlock mechanism. It's not a global phone.
@Leobg: Do you remember what TurboSIM model it was that unlocked your old Milestone 1?

I got it from ebay back in early 2009. There is no really brand or something. Came in black paper sleeve with red sign saying smart unlock sim and a lock icon beside...
I recently got newer turbosim again from ebay (for testing purposes), it came with very similar look and packaging. I believe it is the same manufacturer over in China who makes them.
New turbosims work, data and everything, but apparently incoming calls are hit and miss. Confirmed by me and somebody else who tried. So- unreliable solution unfortunately.

I did stumble across reports of successful D2G unlocking with TurboSim. There was even a link to the exact ebay auction with the TurboSim that did the job.
I saw it either somewhere on here or on http://www.droidforums.net
If you look for it I am sure you can find it. Hope it helps.
Alright I found it for you
This is the exact post - "TurboSIM works fine without Verizon activation and unlock code. Checked. Bought at Ebay, just input 200539432676 in Search string on Ebay."

I have my D2G with TurboSIM in Ukraine.
TurboSIM really allows to bypass the network lock mechanism in the phone, but all Ukrainian major GSM operators block the access of phone with TurboSIM to their networks.
So here is the situation:
Put the SIM card with TurboSIM to D2G and launch the phone. The phone will successfully register in the network, all services (calls, sms, mms, gprs/edge) will be working properly… till the first re-registration in the network.
If, for some reason the phone have to re-register in the network, the network won't allow to re-register with TurboSIM. You'll have to put your SIM card to a regular GSM phone, register there once, and then you'll be able to use it with D2G once again (till the first re-registration).
I have this TurboSIM.
hxxp://themyshop4you.com/images/turbo_sim_card_no_cut.jpg
but mine has different packaging and I still had to cut the SIM card.
_V_i_c_ i am in the Dominican Republic and my situation is exactly the same as yours.
Hi!
I am also from Ukraine and got the same problem as _V_i_c_. There is any solution how to make this phone work with turbosim?
same problem in Bulgaria, it looks like the turbo can bypass the phone lock, but couldnt bypass the network security
i think that the android OS is responsible too for that, because i try this turbo in other OS handset and with them there is no problem, only on android phones i have this issue- no data and second registration fail
tried some turbo programing with PIN change but no success, now im starting to feel that android dont allow such a tweaking

Do you mean data connection? If you can bypass simlock with the turbosim, but you cannot set required access points, it is the actual turbosim problem. Older turbosims don't work properly on android phones APN setup does not stick. Latest turbosim's have solved that, but still phone works quite unreliably (especially for incoming calls/messages).
yes i mean data connection, and your answer make sense it is qite possibe that im a victim of ebay fraud
my card should be Super X-SIM IV TURBO TORNADO, and despite the super - duper name didnt work properly for me

Don't be fooled by the fancy name. Look for TurboSIM 2011 firmware or something like that. I had couple of TurboSim's I bought back in 2009 with them the phone unlocks but no data connection is possible as APN settings do not stick. Recently got another TurboSIM which does not have the APN problem - data and all works, but it is not without problems. Looks like incoming communications to the phone are hit and miss. But at $5 shipped it is worth trying if your phone cannot be unlocked by code at this moment.
Rebel SIM do not work with Droid 2 global A956 - phone enters in reboot loop
I know this thread is pretty necro, but just in case someone else stumbles across it on a search like I did, there is a turbosim type solution for the Droid 2 global. It's the no-cut sim unlocker on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200539432676?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Universal No Cut Cell Phone Mobilephone Sim Unlock Card
That's the one I got it works great, except for the fact that you can't set up the mms data account (in the US at least) because the APN disappears if you change the MCC or MCN. (I have my D2G working in the US based on other threads found online, look up TBH band unlock if you need it.)
hi
i unlocked my global with no problem first you have unlock its radio first mabe the numbers they gave u wasnt right
It would be really great if people stopped posting “I unlocked my phone without any problems”. People who cannot unlock theirs are really happy for you, freddt2790, and they're definitely gonna let you finish, but there are cases where the unlock codes were altered and no databases have them. That's why people are trying to circumvent locks with TurboSIM and the likes.
Thanks for sharing your success story. It doesn't work for everyone, though.
Quick update on the unlock solution I was using. Not only does it not let you have data, but it also drops your phone network and makes your sim undetected several times a week. Finally had to forget it and go back to the old phone again. I may try ordering another model or two of these turbosim type cards and see if any of them work.

There are models which will let you configure APN and use data, but the loss of Sim registration will still remain. TurboSIM solution is not usable form of unlocking the phone if you want reliable phone. I'd suggest you to sell the phone to somebody in the States where they can use it on Verizon and buy another phone. You can get Milestone 2 if you like D2G form factor so much. Or simply buy another D2G which is sold unlocked.

Droid X CDMA on Straight Talk

I have been doing a lot of reading about this subject over the last few weeks. I have heard mixed stories and results. Here is my understanding so far in order to get a motorola droid x onto the straight talk unlimited plan:
1. The droid x must be cdma (verizon). Good or bad esn.
2. Purchase a NEW straight talk cdma phone and $45 plan.
3. Activate the new straight talk phone using the $45 plan.
4. Download DFS software for changing the esn.
5. Connect the droid x to your pc.
6. Open device manager and locate the com port the phone is on.
7. Open DFS, enter the com port the droid is on.
8. Enter the phone password. I have only read one person say this is necessary but didn't mention what the password was.
9. Click the "read" button to get the current esn on the droid
10. Enter the 20 digit number from your straight talk green card enter it in the MIED box.
11. Click "write".
12. Disconnect phone from pc. Some say to reboot phone??
13. Next, others have said the phone might try to activate through verizon. I have heard not to allow it to do this??
14. Update the roaming on the phone by dialing *22891. Not sure about this number.
15. To get the internet to work. Someone mentions that you need to set up a gmail account to get it to work. I am not sure if this is necessary.
Does this sound about right or am I way off?
Has anyone done this yet?
I can confirm working HTC Desire VZW to Straight Talk swaps as well as Sprint ports to Boost Mobile.
Did this work???
Might be dredging up ghosts from the past; but I didn't think a new thread was necessary if there was already a thread for the Droid X and getting it to work on Straight Talk.
I was given free, a Motorola Droid X M8810 handset, and I'm already using an LG Optimus Q, and was wondering if there were a way to get the Motorola Droid X set up using the already set up account that my Optimus is on.
PagePlus prepaid might be a better answer. They resell Verizon services for rooted and non-rooted phones using CDMA.

Forced Branding?

MASSIVE EDIT:
Hey Guys,
So i picked up the Motorola Razr HD LTE from fido today. The phone was purchased from a company that sells both rogers and fido (sister companies).
When i posted last night, i noticed after i put the fido sim in SIM CONFIGURATION popped up and told me all info off the phone will be deleted etc...
Last time it basically branded my phone to fido. Got a fido boot screen, all these fido apps i can't remove.
UPDATE:
I got them to replace the phone from yesterday, and this time around i purchased a unlock code, put in a MTS sim ( that carrier don't have the motorola phone) and its working but still asks me for SIM CONFIGURATION, im just going to keep pushing cancel.
Is there remove sim configurator and keep stock factory ICS (no carrier bloatware, nothing!)?
Updated, Anyone get one of these Rogers/Fido Phones?
I got one. I bought my phone from someone who supposedly got it from Fido, but when I checked the version it was the RCI version and had the versions in the screenshot. After I popped in my Rogers sim it got Rogers branded for me and reset the configuration/factory reset my phone (I wanted to see the new features of smart actions, so I didn't lose any data).
Afterward, I popped in my coworkers BELL Sim card to enter my unlock code (I always buy unlock codes as soon as I get the phone... You never know) and noticed the configuration didn't reset.
Look at the screenshot for my radio.
I'm not rooted or modded at all.

But when i restored with my the other phone i got for that one day, it wouldn't let me reconfigure the sim it just stayed fido, with the splash screen and bloat.
I tried to use the RAZR HD Root tool and restore from there and the the same thing, i just keep hitting cancel everytime i boot up, i just wish i could get rid of that sim configuration message without rooting. (its not my phone my sisters so she wants to keep the warranty).

Don't worry about it. The bloat can all be disabled (in the all programs menu puss and hold on the program you want to disable then choose app info and stop then disable the app). I also found the Rogers bloat didn't really slow down the phone much either (I came from a Verizon phone....)

True, just the fact of knowing that it is there pisses me off though LOL.
Im going to try and work on a few things, like possibly trying the sim configuration with a SIM from a carrier that doesn't carry motorola/android phones, and see what happens.
P.S: Thank for your help with the motorola razr, i used your guide to upgrade to jb a while ago

[Q] Droid MAXX with T-Mobile SIM - no APN data, at all?

Ok, so I got a Droid MAXX yesterday and it's a great phone - downside is the one I got had Android 4.4 on it so there goes any potential for doing some experimentation with it, and while I realize I could do that Chinese unlock thing (does unlocking the bootloader provide for being able to root/etc, I don't know for sure just yet, still doing the research), I suppose I may just keep this one for a while but, if someone offers me the right price it'll disappear like dozens of other devices and smartphones.
Anyway, I'm going to move my T-Mobile service to it (the $30/month 5GB plan we all love so much and pray doesn't disappear anytime soon) over the weekend but at this moment what I've used a completely new T-Mobile nanoSIM (my current one is a microSIM) in the MAXX and it'll connect as expected: I make the adjustment from Global to LTE/GSM/UMTS in mobile networks and it's fine, shows LTE and it'll connect with the T-Mobile website and yes it's damned fast.
However, when I go to look at the APN data it's blank. I mean totally blank, as in there's no APNs listed whatsoever but it's connected to T-Mobile and using LTE too as shown using Phone Info (the installed APK) but there's no APN data.
On top of that it doesn't offer the option to add an APN either - the + mark that typically is there next to the menu button top right corner isn't there, and when I use the menu option all I get is "Reset to default" which does nothing at all, of course.
So, am I missing something here or is this happening because the nanoSIM I'm testing this with is unactivated - I ordered it from T-Mobile recently because they were free with free shipping and so I'd have one or two around just in case I needed one.
Kinda baffling to me but there's just no APN data and I can't add new ones. If I put the original Verizon nanoSIM in it of course it'll show Verizon APNs (like a dozen of them, oddly, but that nanoSIM is deactivated anyway).
Was just curious, and I did try to find more info about missing APN data but wasn't successful in locating any other threads or members asking or having the same issue.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions I'm open to hearing them. Most likely it will end up being because it's a completely new unactivated nanoSIM but I figured it can't hurt to proffer the question anyway.
Thanks...
<my 777th post... come on 7!!!>
You should be able to add a APN once you activate the Sim... At least that was the case with my droid mini I'm using on H2O
