Tricked into buying an 'official' modified phone? - General Questions and Answers

Can anyone help me? I have an ASUS Zenfone 6, I checked my device settings and everything from the 'about' menu at settings and it says I have a 1.16 WW firmware. When I downloaded the newest 1.18 WW firmware from support.asus.com and tried to flash it says:
Device image SKU: CUCC
OTA image SKU: WW
And the update fails
I am honestly confused to what's going on here. I thought I have WW with gapps and everything working but suddenly when I try to update I have CUCC? Oh and what's weird is that when I just got the phone SuperSU was synced from my previous phone and I just wanted to check out what happens if I open SuperSU without rooting but when SuperSU opened it asks me whether I want to update the binary normally or from CWM/TWRP! This mind you only happens if you had rooted the phone and ran SuperSU for the first time, surprisingly according to root checker I have root! JUST BY INSTALLING SUPERSU! So I was wondering if my phone was tampered before I bought it? I legally bought it new from a nearby mall with it still complete with the packaging and warranty card, so I'm really confused to what is going on.
Can anyone please please help me, do anyone else who has the WW firmware has anything like this happen when you want to flash the firmware update? I tried to force the firmware update using fastboot, nothing changed, but now my phone won't detect my SD Card and every time I open settings the phone would restart. The only way I can think of to fix this is by flashing a fresh ROM but so far I cannot find a link that has Zenfone 6 stock ROM, only the firmware. I've thought of returning the phone with the reason that I got tricked into buying a CUCC Zenfone instead of the WW that is sold on my region.
Note: I bought the phone in Indonesia and basically there are 2 warranty. One from the official ASUS and another from 'distributor', because the distributor is cheaper I bought that one thinking I'm only having a different warranty and a lack of support from ASUS officials but is it possible this distributor actually sell a modified CUCC SKU that is changed to WW? I've seen some articles/video to switch from TW/CN to WW and it kind of raised my suspicion.

bought phone from becetech wont update firmware

im sorry if this is in the wrong section but ,ok so i bought an open box galaxy s6 from becetech online and it would not let me update the firmware past 5.1.1 which made me a bit suss, downloaded root checker app and it came too me rooted. apart from not being able to update the firmware past 5.1.1 as far as im aware the phone has no issues and works perfectly fine. i downloaded the *samsung* phone info app, in general under manufacturer it says Samsung/verizon so im assuming that is part of the reason they rooted the phone as it needed to be unlocked from verizon to be refurbished? so what i want to know is how do i find out exactly what becetech have done to the phone and is there an easy way for me to update the firmware to nougat or at least marshmallow without stuffing the phone, like i said the phones running fine its just really bugging me not being to update. obviously im not able to work it out myself but i can follow instructions so any help from someone would be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance.

Could someone with a bit more knowledge please tell me if the reason I can't update the firmware is because the firmware csc is TGY when I'm in Australia or just because it's rooted or what? I'm getting no answers from the company who I bought it off

Are you trying to update via the phone update feature? If so this won't work as rooting disabled the ability Update using ota
First I tried OTA then downloaded samsung smart switch and gave that a go both no good. What I want to know is, if they had to root the phone to refurbish it will it brick it if I try to update? Won't it reset all the company I bought it off has done to it to refurbish it? Which I'm guessing is quite a process as when I look at the open source licenses there's a long list of files that have been changed. It just sucks that it's locked to a three year old version of the firmware that I'm worried apps will start to stop supporting in the near future? Apart from that I can not fault the phone there's been no problems, maybe I'm asking a bit much for a $400 phone?

From what I can tell you have a g920v variant if the phone Shows Verizon but the sure fire way to know what variant you have is turn the phone off once off hold home-power-volume down, this will take you to download mode but should tell you your variant. You don't need to root a phone to refurbish It, you can flash Stock firmwares via Odin. I really don't know why they would have Rooted It tbh, you'd need to contact them, but I know for sure you can manually download the latest Verizon firmware and the phone should work. Maybe they Rooted it as part of making it network unlocked, o really can't say
Ok I tried that and a bright blue screen came up warning about custom OS then press up volume for download and down volume for reset? I just pressed down as there was no other info on the screen but it does say it's a sm-g920v in the settings as well as the root checker app. Another thing was I did ring samsung support gave them the serial number and IMEI and they said an authorized modification had been done on the phone but could offer no other support as it wasn't an Australian phone. I'll keep trying to get some info out of the company I bought it off and try to sort it out thanks for your help :good:

Change firmware.

Hey guys ,
I bought my pixel 2 in Germany, however now that I'm living in UK I wanted to flash an UK firmware so i could use Android Pay. Anyone know if I flash an UK firmware I will still be able to get the OTA updates ? And if I will loose warranty?
Thanks in advance.
i could be wrong here but....i would imagine you will have to root your device and then extract the firmware from a UK rom build and flash it. I use to won a one+ before and there was lots of zip files for my old device, my current device pixel 2 is not rooted etc so cant confirm but as i said above could be the way. Someone else whos rooted etc may be able to confirm.

Asus Android 11 Beta semi-bricked my phone - Urgent help needed

My phone is pretty much bricked. I cannot do anything with it.
So I installed the new update & now my phone keeps resetting to "No service" every second, then going to my Local carrier Telstra (Australia) 5 bars of reception, then resetting to "No service" again every second and repeats this non-stop.
On top of this, phone overheats so much and when I try to turn off the phone, it turns right back on again!
I can no longer call, message, use my data. I urgently need my phone back for work tomorrow morning.
com.android.phone keeps stopping error also appears at the start when I boot up my phone.
Before the update, I never had any issues.
So I guess the only way for me to fix my phone is to revert back to original asus stock firmware?
Ive tried asus own asus recovery using power button and volume up:
ive tried putting update.zip inside internal storage, but mount sdcard error shows up.
so, i try adb method, works and starts flashing and then.. it says the update.zip is older than the current firmware, and stops it halfway.
what are my options/how I can return to the stock original global rom from this nightmare android 11 beta to android 10 firmware? i have the official asus android 10 firmware already and unlocked bootloader..
try flash raw firmware you can find in google. tries to flash raw firmware. you can find it on google i think. Use the file flashall_AFT.cmd
when i google raw firmware, this shows up the drivers and firmware from official asus zenhelp shows up.
is this correct? i have downloaded it, however not clear as to what steps and additional programs are needed from here.

Do you know if ZS670KS (Zenfone 7) raw firmware works on ZS671KS (Zenfone 7 Pro)? I have the Pro maybe the post author too
Hey OP, where did you purchase it from? I'm from Australia too and just got my Zenfone 7 Pro delivered. And how did you receive the Android 11 update? OTA? I'm reluctant to OTA update as the last one on a new Zenfone 6 I bought bricked it too!

I have 7 pro too, and on the Asus Website under the firmware tab they say this:
Version WW-29.12.18.16
2020/09/142.56 GBytes
ZenFone 7 / ZenFone 7 Pro (ZS670KS / ZS671KS) software Image:WW_29.12.18.16 for WW/EU only*

PDEM30 stuck in recovery

Title. Unlocked my bootloader Saturday, that went smoothly, but then I greedily tried to root via unofficial TWRP which caused my device to give the error boot/recovery destroyed. I managed to get back to fastboot eventually and flashed stock recovery. Tried formatting everything, wiping data and then flashing stock rom. It won't let me flash however, it just states that my version is newer. Tried flashing via TWRP as well, but that gives me error 7 and something about some partitions not being mounted correctly (product and two others.)
I am looking for someone who could upload their Firehose/rawprogram0.xml/patch0.xml and/or their gpt file.
I am also accepting tips on how to proceed with fixing this as my retailer told me that they won't cover this under warranty.
Did u ask how much would be to pay for the fix? If it's not expensive it's worth it cause seems nobody here knows how to fix it.

Update on this one;
Contacted oppo UK on a whim, they told me that due to it being a find x2 pro it would be covered by international warranty. I had to pay for shipping by myself and return shipping to me, total cost of ~50£ (I don't live in the UK)
The phone has been repaired and i am currently waiting for it to arrive back.
They successfully repaired it and now I'm eager to see if they managed to get global firmware on it, because in the repair statement the model got listed as CPH2025 instead of PDEM30 which is the model i have.
Update#2;
Got the phone back today (finally).
It's still a PDEM30 model, bootloader still unlocked but fails safetynet checks.
Otherwise good as new, thank fck for global warranty.

Question How do you change/update stock firmware (downgraded after recovering via EDL)?

I recently bought a ROG Phone 5s here in Japan, and it came on the WW-18.1220.2111.164 firmware.
I got into a bootloop trying to mount as readwrite, and the problem got worse until I was at a seeming brick with black screen. But I saved my phone using johhny886's guide here.
Upon flashing the firmware he provided, my phone is now back to normal but on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
System update checks and says "Your system is up-to-date." I tried a factory reset and interestingly it keeps me on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
WW-18.1220.2111.164 is downloadable from ASUS's website here and it comes in a zip file. How do I manually install this? Or can I?
There is also a newer WW-18.1220.2112.175, but it says "This firmware is only for ROG Phone 5S/5S Pro ID version". I thought about going to this newest version but that message scares me since I don't know what ID is here. WW-18.1220.2111.164 listed as "WW-18.1220.2111.164 for WW/EU/TW/JP version only." Device's country is listed as JP so I figured it's safer to go back to this.
Place that zip file you have downloaded in your phone internal storage (not inside any folders). Once you have placed it in the root of your internal storage just restart your phone. After restart unlock your phone and it will automatically detect that update file within a minute and ask you to update.
The ID version is Indonesian version. So choose JP version for you always.
I just did that and successfully updated as you posted. Somehow as soon as I go to post online I figure stuff out lol.
Thank you for the assistance, I was afraid and wanted to be careful.
