Device: Razr HD xt925, CM11 M8, Jellybean bootloader (Unlocked).
So I rebooted my device and suddenly it start restarting during the Cyanogenmod boot animation (animation stops for several seconds and the phone restarts and it all happen again)
First I tried a factory reset... the issue was still there...
Then I tried to flash stock firmware* using RSD Lite and I got the following error on RSD Lite:
Code:
Failed flashing process. 1/19 flash partition "partition_signed" -> Phone returned FAIL.
I took the xml file and remove the following lines:
Code:
<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="partition_signed" MD5="48368c36d270ee507e3a4cbd50a9020c" />
<step operation="flash" partition="tz" filename="tz_signed" MD5="1fcf95d8ec54318ab6dcb7e70766bcb0" />
RSD Lite flash was successful but the problem still persist (devices restarting on boot animation)
Code:
* I use the following firmware:
Branding: Retail Argentina
Version: 9.8.2Q-50-XT925_VQLM-20 Service
from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032284
So... Any ideas? Did the procedure I use for flashing back stock firmware was correct?
I can access to fastboot so I imagine the device can still be fixed...
why did you remove both lines?i would just remove top one see if it bypasses the error. You dont have any safe strap installed or such?

I don't have any safe strap installed.
I removed both cause I think I read somewhere that I should remove both lines when going back to stock (JB) from CM11 (KK)
Check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/how-to-downgrade-cm11-to-stock-jb-t2738603

trust zone (tz) and partition (gpt) can never be flashed to an equal or downgraded version with rsd. therefore, they must be removed before flashing with rsd, or it will fail.
if flashing a newer version than was ever put on the device, they can be left in place, and will not fail.
the trust zone and partition files can be re-flashed to an equal version (not older) with moto fastboot, but is really only needed or beneficial if you have a gpt failure on the fastboot screen. this happens but is not common.
PROBLEM SOLVED:
It seems it was an issue with the external sd-card, I removed and now the device is booting correctly
Good reporting man

Of course there is. What does the phone do right now?

You sure you bricked it? That's the consumer version right? If you have acces to the fast boot on then we can help but if you have you boot loader unlocked then that's tuff cause we still learning not to brick for the hd . I'll tell you what though, If you boot loop or have a black screen try holding power and volume buttons until either the screen freezes and reboots or until it starts up again. Then you can access boot loader mode and or fast Boot we can flash something.

Hi! After a year this topic will revive, as my phone will do I hope.
I tried to boot my phone, but it didn't work, and I cannot recover my xt925. I have the fastboot, and it says : flash failure.
I tried to unlock the bootloader from Motorola website but it said my device was not compatible...
What should I do to make it work again?

any successful flash should clear that off. just grab your stock software from sbf-developers and flash it with rsd.

Hi,
i've bricked my xt925. I've bootloader unclocked from motorola website. I wanted restore stock rom using RSD Lite v.6.1.5 but flash process had stopped to (17/22) system_signed for 1 hour...and I stopped him!! Now if i try to start phone it show only the bootloader unlock screen.
I'm able only to go into fastboot mode and if try to flash yet stock rom it stop at first step.
[UPDATE]
After several attempts I managed to get back to the starting point, Step 17/22 flash system "system_signed"...but now i'm locked here.
I have lost forever my smatphone?

My first post due to a death
The death of my XT925 was probably on the cards since I decided to wet my appetite and unroot it and also unlock the bootloader. Everything was sweet at this point, but then I decided to upgrade to kitkat. A big risk, as it turned out, since now I have a smooth attractive-looking brick. My mistake was downloading a rom, which after _nearly_ completing, failed (after many attempts to get it). I repaired it, and then installed it using some root software. I'll have to look up the names, but now I have no response after a lot of frenzied button pressing. Bootloader / fastboot would allow me to get RSD Lite fired up - but I have nothing. The last thing I did was leave it on overnight with the recovery menu on the screen. Should I get my shopping pants on?

Sorry to hear this.
Flashing is a risky process one can easily flash something that is corrupt, or have something not complete.
One user is trying to restore his with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551113
Things to try.
1) Flashing the fxz/xml using the snapdragon fastboot command line
Last resort thx to SamuriHL
2) In custom recovery, you could attempt to wipe the system partition and see if that then allows you to flash the fxz/xml.
3) If not, wipe the system partition and then flash a known working rom in custom recovery (4.1.2).
How do i get back to a stock rom on this ? I got it rooted and Flashed to a rom, that could not connect via wifi or anything . when i got it. im looking for a some how way to get back to stock.

Well all the aftermarket ROM's usually state you should take a backup of your current state.
Since I'm guessing you didn't do that, FXZ back to stock. This will wipe EVERYTHING, including your internal SD card.

Been content and happy with my Photon Q since tweaking it a little after getting it. Was still running the stock ROM, just with a few add ons. Also running one of the early TWRP releases.
Been battling a sd card corruption issue over the last few days, and after hours of testing and trial and error my next theory was that something on the ROM was corrupting my sd card (that's a completely different story/issue).
In any case, I rebooted the phone into recovery, made a full backup (system + data), wiped, then tried to restore a backup I had from about 3 months ago. The restore operation for system completes very quickly, but doesn't give any errors, and then when I go to reboot the device, TWRP warns there is no OS. Sure enough, there isn't. Using TWRP's file manager I can see there's nothing there. Rebooting just brings you to a boot logo screen, no further. I can get into fastboot and back into recovery. Thinking maybe something was wrong with my backups, I downloaded a clean stock TWRP image from a thread on here, same thing when I restore it. Thought maybe my recovery was jacked up, so I booted into fastboot and updated to the most current recovery, no change.
I'm pretty much DEAD at this point. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, trying to flash using RSD Lite...
Using the "asanti_c_sprint-user-4.1.2-9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5-6-release-keys-cid9.xml.zip" file downloaded from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/asanti_c/list.php
Edited the XML file to remove the two lines that say <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
When I try to flash, there are 23 steps, it keeps failing at step 18 (flashing the system.img). The exact error I get in RSD Lite is "Failed flashing process. 18/23 flash system "system.img" -> Phone returned FAIL."
Any thoughts?

There's another fellow with this same issue.
Not sure if they solved it yet, but does 'fastboot devices' work in a command prompt? Should show your device serial number in the terminal.
Just got it to work. I was using an older RSD Lite version (5.7). That image requires v6.1.5 in order to sucessfully flash the system.img
Worked fine with the newer RSD Lite version. Now to restore as much stuff as I can, but at least I'm back functional.
Thanks again for the heads up on RSD Lite.:good:

I'm trying to restock my xt925. After an attempt to flash one of the roms here it did not installed but since I wiped everything I try a restore frm the nandroid backup made with Philz recovery. After the restore the phone had no signal at all.
I'm trying to flash using RSD but it gives an error: Failed flashing Process.
Also I find the boot firmware for XT926 but no for XT925. My phone is actually booting but without any signal.

Thanks for the link but I found the firmware right here at XDA.
I also managed to get and flash the modem form the firmware posted here but could not manage to flash the whole image using RSD Lite.
Right now my biggest problem is that the phone reboots on fastboot and I have to manually make it go to system every time I turn it on.

Haha my friend! I had a more-less same situation last month!!!
Here's what you do:
1. Download RSD Lite 6.1.5 - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ite_v6.1.x.zip
2. Make sure you have installed latest Motorola Device Manager and drivers on your PC - https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481/action/auth
3. Download XT925 stock firmwares (Retail.DE for example...) - http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=6
4. Put the phone in AP Fastboot, connect it to PC and start RSD Lite
5. When you extract it and load the rom in RSDLite if you get FLASHING FAILED ˝getvar´ you'll need to edit rom file and delete line with ˝getvar˝ strings
Try this and let me know how it went ...
Cheers

Hi! Thnks for your reply. I did manage to flash it manually one by one using fastboot but I did not ever could use RSD. I did try editing the command script erasing the gatvar and oem lines but never worked for me. I would love for it to work because I understand it is better and less work using RSD.
Ok! Just tried this again. You need to edit .xml file by deleting both of these threads:
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
<step operation="oem" var="fb_mode_set" />
If it doesn't work try also deleting :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<flashing>
Please try if you have time...

quick questions....my device is also 925, stock, rooted and unlocked bootloader.
now if i would do a factory reset via the phone or flash my stock firmware via sbf or when we eventually get the official kitkat upgrade:
i assume i would loose root with each of these actions?
but would the unlocked bootloader by affected in any way...ie would i ever have to re unlock? this is indeed permanent from my understanding?
thx and sorry if these r stupid questions...

- If you factory reset from phone you'll not lose root but if you flash sbf via rsd lite or similar you will lose it and have to root it again.
- Before receiving OTA KitKat you'll have to install OTA Root keeper to preserve root function.
- Bootloader will remain unlocked forever no matter what you do.
ok thx for your response...so i would have to unroot, ota then re-root as the xt926 users needed to do for their ota i guess?

I suspected that'd be my only option... Any knowledge on how soon it will be released? is there a normal length of time that it usually takes?
Yes you are right. It's not only yours option. Everybody of us with the same problem you have an opportunity to solve this waiting for SBF 4.4.
I think it will be in one or two weeks.
Don't panic your phone as mine is not hard bricked, it's only soft bricked. It's bootlocked - the main reason we cannot to downgrade to existing 4.2.2
Stay tuned.

You are running into a similar problem that others (including myself) have, where the 4.4 update partially installed. If you try to SBF (using RSD Lite, HouseOfMoto, fastboot, or otherwise), It will not succeed because the bootloader doesn't like the fact that you wen't backwards to an older boot.img. Currently, we don't have a new boot.img from the KitKat update because that file is not contained anywhere in the update.zip (it only has a boot.img.p patch, rather than a whole new img file), and we don't have the SBF yet. Once the SBF comes out, this should fix the problem for you entirely as it will replace your boot.img, your recovery, and system partition regardless of their current contents.
