[Q] HTC 8x security unlocked CID 11111111 chip 8960 - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

Need help.
I cannot update my phone.
I contacted to HTC US support team, here is their reply:
The handset is originally manufactured for the USA, and its locked to AT&T, only they can unlock the device.
I suggest you to contact with the retailer and ask them to unlock the handset and swap it for the unlocked one you wanted.
Now I am outside the US, so it is impossible to take the phone to the AT&T store.
Any ideas?

Question about AT&T warranty when using phone in Canada

Hi Guys,
I have a at&t branded fuze and the touch screen seems to have stopped working.
I bought it off craigslist and it came unlocked. I am using it on a canadian provider (Rogers).
Can i still claim warranty on the device through AT&T or do i go through HTC?
I have no account with AT&T other then just owning their branded device.
Does the warranty still apply since it is unlocked?
and if so do i just phone AT&T and tell them that I am using it in Canada?
Thanks for the help
I doubt AT&T would honor any warranty unless you bought it from them new and have an account. They act as a middle person by sending you a refurb phone then send the broken one to HTC. You may try contacting HTC directly to see if they can be of assistance, but you may need a receipt.

[Q] Bell Repair while Unlocked

I have a Canadian Bell Sensation that I unlocked by purchasing an unlock code. I am now running it on Fido.
The power button issue is becoming much more common for me and I would like to send it for a repair but will Bell accept the sensation as I'm running it on a different carrier and don't have any service with them.
Thank you.

[Q] how unlock my Trophy(VERIZON)?

Hello everyone:
I am a chinese,I bought a Trophy(Verizon) from Ebay,but it is locking,and I can not use the GSM function.
The I contact sellers on Ebay who can unlock the HTC phone, but they said my phone's IMEI can not be found from htc unlock code's datebase ,so they can't find the unlock code.
It mean the IMEI was Not Found On Database or it is Not Available.
Have any methods can unlock my phone's GSM network?
I hope someone can give me a help.
Best regards.
TKS.
Does the phone not have the option to toggle to GSM mode, or does it just not work? It should be under Settings -> Cellular.
I don't think the Verizon Trophy is even SIM-locked in the first place. At least, not in the usual sense. However, I have heard a rumor that they block it from being used on the USA GSM carriers, T-Mobile (US) and AT&T.
If you're able to take it to a Verizon store, they can probably remove any unlocks on the device. They may or may not be willing to do so for free, but they probably *can*.
Out of curiosity, why in the world buy a predominantly CDMA phone (even if it has a GSM mode in addition) if you're a GSM user? There are plenty of GSM Windows Phones, most of which are arguably better designs too. Verizon users around here hate that the Trophy is the only phone available to them, and I truly sympathize.
when I select the GSM model and put in a SIM card of CMCC,It display:
This SIM card can only be used on specific networks.Contact your customer service center for the unlock code.
So it's should be a GSM network lock.
You only have 2 options first you need to find the way to bring it back to Verizon to unlock the phone but if you're in China right now that probably impossible.
Now the second option is to buy the unlock code on eBay. I have no idea why you phone couldn't unlock did you ask the right seller? Because HTC Trophy actually have 2 version one is European and the other one is US (CDMA and GSM) You may need to try other sellers if you can find them.
I have HTC Trophy Verizon and my brother also has one he went back home and unlock the phone before left US and it works fine with GSM/UMT.

[Germany] Unlock Telekom/Congstar Pixel phone

I would like to buy the Google Pixel 5" phone from a customer of German Telekom or their daughter company Congstar. But their bootloader is not supposed to be unlockable. Additionally the Telekom reserves the right to review and delay Android updates.
What are the chances that somebody finds a way to unlock the bootloader anyway?
Respectively does anyone know if the phones sold by Congstar might not fall under those restrictions by their parent company Telekom?

If it is still the same phone you can be sure that it can be unlocked. If it is a different version of the phone it could be a problem. Just ask the telekom if it is a different model.
As far as I know it's the same device. Thanks for the point. I'll will try to contact the Telekom.
The bootloader on Telekom devices is unlockable.

Unlock T-mobile branded S8+ bought directly from Samsung

I've contacted T-Mobile directly, and they said that they do not have the ability to do so because I did not purchase the device directly from them, even though it is a T-Mobile branded device. The representative also contacted Samsung with me on the phone, Samsung specifically stated that the device can be unlock, and the carrier does it. Doesn't make any sense to me that they can't unlock it when they have my phone's IMEI in their database, and they can recognize it. To top that off, the device is paid in full, not financed. Anyway, got this escalated to the manual unlock team, but was told there's no guarantees. Will see how that goes.
Have anyone gotten their T-Mobile branded device bought directly from Samsung unlocked? Or anyone got their carrier branded device bought from Samsung unlocked?
I been trying to find a sim I can try to see if mine is unlocked but seems like everyone I know is on TMobile hahaha I bought mine thru Samsung as well paid in full I will try going to a att see if they have a sim I can try
If everything is the same, then the device should be locked. Just tried an ATT sim on my T-Mobile device, and that doesn't work.
Exact situation I went through with AT&T. They also first told me they couldn't unlock it cuz I didn't buy directly from them, however, after a few escalations to support I finally got someone that understood and I had the unlock code before the phone call ended. Just keep trying.
The escalation of my case to the unlock team resulted in receiving an automated email telling me to use the unlock app when I explicitly mentioned that method does not work..... Sigh... The incompetence of these people. Contacting them on twitter now, we'll see the results of that.
In the meantime, what's everyone's experience so far trying to get their carrier branded device unlocked?
Same issues with my s8... Samsung says T-Mobile will should be able to unlock it...and T-Mobile says it is not an eligible phone since not purchased through T-Mobile. Any other suggestions how i can unlock my phone?

Have you been able to get your phone unlocked? I'm in the same situation right now
How in the hell can they not unlock a device that is BRANDED by T-Mobile and PAID OFF with T-Mobile? I would of returned the device (if within the return period) and Bought an Exynos Variant. I have an Exynos S8+ on AT&T here in the US and I haven't had any issues with carrier compatibility.
