OK - shame the phone isn't sold globally - then we may have more activity and perhaps development.

Yes that's why i started the thread to discuss the development part as no such activity is seen on it....

Yes, we need some good devs apart from the ones who ported the 2 roms....
I used htcdev to unlock the bootloader and then flashed SuperSu but i got a buggy root looks like.
Also having issues with the sdcard write problem created by google...
I'm trying to sort out my kinks to set it up as per my liking using xposed modules etc...
cheers,
greg

I have permanent root. You have to unlock bootloader for that and then flash SuperSu as i mentioned earlier.
There is no method without unlocking bootloader. I tried a lot, none of the other exploits worked,, unless you want to spend
25 USD on Sunshine.....

So after relocking. Did service center accept it or not?
As i use sony xperia for now with unlocked bootloader. But after relocking it the service center accepted it under warranty...
So is this possible on htc also?

Yeah bro... Actually i had unlocked ? my bootloader and backed up DRM keys (require root) but after 2 months my power button was not working properly....
What i did..
Restore DRM & relocked bootloader and flash the stock rom.... And then send it to service center and they also fix the issue for free!!
So is there any way to gain the warranty back like in samsung we can clear flash counters by "triangle away" app... And here in sony with DRM method??

Which method did you use to root? If it's HTC dev then we also were obliged to use that only. We are adding about any others without unlocking bootloader.

Hmm... I wonder. Is it okay to pick up a single sim version? Looks like everyone has dual sim here and I'm a little worried when ROMs do get ported, it might not work on the single sim version. Would it work anyway? Or do I really have to go for the dual sim?

Hey there, I own HTC one e8(m8sd).Indian dual SIM version. How soon shall I expect cm for HTC one e8?

Yeah locking the bootloader would work, you need to return 100% to stock though, so factory software it was shipped with, I don't know whether you still have that or if you can grab it from the official sony site, there is probably a copy of it in the forums

you cant unlock sim by rooting
you can unlock sim by buying code on ebay for $0.99 though, if your phone has at&t logo on it.

Rooting and Sim unlock are unrelated to each other. You need to purchase a sim unlock code (or go through AT&T) to unlock the GSM carrier.
That sucks...for a HTC inspire phone, i was able to unlock and root at the same go using the software from xda

You mean root and unlock.... the bootloader?
Totally different "unlocking" of the phone.
As souljaboy & moofree said, the subsidy (carrier, SIM, whatever) unlock is only through the carrier (like AT&T) or buying a code online..
Sent from my phone's mind
As alteredlikeness told you there are different kind of unlocks
1) Sim Unlock: so that you can use any sim card, you can get the code from the network provider that you bought the mobile from, alternatively you can get the code at ebay or any other local sim unlock experts, I assume you are from India, like here in Hyderabad there are few in Jagdish Market, only few of them are legit like Metro Mobiles.
Then there is the dreaded 2) Bootloader and it's unlocking: With which we can flash (install) custom kernels and thus CyanogenMods, MIUIs, AOKPs and all..
and I humbly let you know that, if you are talking about Sim unlock procedures, this is not the place to come, XDA is all about mods, ROMs, Bricks(!) and everything in between.
and if you are talking about Bootloader unlock, unfortunately the hard working devs here have not found a way yet to unlock it, really hope that they will eventually prevail.
and either way, just merely rooting doesn't unlock anything, either network lock or bootloader, rooting is a process where you get superuser access.. which is kind of Admin access to your Windows OS, which is required to install few apps and also to dig down into the android OS.
Thanks for listening! have a great day.

[Q] PXXAMC1 network unlocking

hey guys,
my first post here although i've been reading xda for years when searching stuff. great forum, great guys
so here is my problem: i have an I9105PXXAMC1 bought months ago from t-mobile austria in wien, has stock firmware 4.1.2 and it seems that it is network locked. from my little knowledge i guess that it isn't that hard to reset this, is just something like a file somewhere in the android os system? i've seen apps on google play claiming that they can network unlock but i guess they need a rooted device.. but: this is just my feeling about things, maybe i'm wrong, so, please, i need your help:
what should i do in the simplest way to network unlock this phone? i've read threads listing firmwares, there are also rooting guides but i see many differences based on the exact baseband version of the phone and now i actually don't know what should i do.
do i need to root the phone? what's the right guide for this baseband version?
if i do it is there a way to get back to stock version in the unfortunate case that the phone has issues and i have to send it back to warranty?
please, someone give me a head start
thanks much!
Install prerooted firmware via odin.

thanks, but which firmware? there is no PXXAMC1 only PXXAMC2 the closest and there are also many variants like XEO, DBT, PHN x RDS/ROS
is AMC2 ok for AMC1? what's the difference between all those versions and which one should i choose?
thanks!

thanks, if i understood things well, after flashing a prerooted firmware, i can simunlock the device with some techniques/apps, right?
or the safest is just to buy a network unlock code from the internet?

ok, just saw your edit.. so only the unlock code will work? how come? why those from 'seitengassenjugoshop' (i guess you meant those little mobile shops where they do repairs, decode, etc) can do it without the code? or they buy this code also?
if code is only solution: where should i buy it? i don't trust those websites and they also don't seem very cheap.
I dont know how it is with our device but i had the same problem with the htc desire c from my little brother and after i unlocked bootloader flashed cwm, a custom Firmware and rooted it the simlock was gone.

ok, so you are saying to first start with this prerooted firmware you've linked me, try eventually some simunlock apps and if it doesn't work try CWM's way with some firmware like cyanogenmod?
i guess that would void warranty in an irreversible way, or there are ways around it?
i've done it with CWM then tried many custom firmwares on my i9300 months ago, i guess i can manage to work my way through that. currently running CM 10.2 that just got in few days ago for i9300. the only thing is not to brick this i9105p, it's not mine, it's a friend's
U can reset binary counter with triangle away from chainfire.
So warranty is back
Sent from my GT-I9105P using xda app-developers app
ok, so i've tried many things, now trying stuff with CM10.1, but still no luck.. well, i guess that buying the code is the only solution for this phone?
i've also read about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731931 method but can't find that nv_data.bin file anywhere in my /efs!
actually, all the files in /efs are very small and seem of no use.. what's wrong with those i9105p phones?
anyway: does anybody know a good trustworthy source for buying a code? of course, at the most reasonable price possible.

I emailed Sony many times but every time they send me back that they don't have any information about it because it's not in the US market and one time one of them seid to me that the xperia c would have the locked bootloader forever and Sony doesn't even think about to unlock the bootloader but it's on the 4.3 update in next winter.
