it doesnt mention our device...
+1
is there anybody else here who knows English and didn't find our devices listed?
have some brains before before posting stuff like this... don't just give false hopes to these people..
our SINGLE cored devices can't even control jellybean 4.2 so what makes you think Sony will directly update to 4.4...please try to understand the fact that to stay updated in the world of Android, you will have to keep on upgrading our devices (budget phones ')
and furthermore, our devices cannot handle the openGL of 4.3.. then how come the OP says there's an update to 4.4
i demand an explanation from the Op. just show me the clause where Sony says that there would be an update to 4.4 or 4.3,..
thank me if I helped you...
thank you

You don't need openGL ES 3 gpu to run KitKat. And our devices can control even 4.3 perfectly, Lg L5 has Snapdragon S1 like our devices and works perfect (but it has ram issues because of 4.3 gapps), and they are porting 4.4 because it requieres less resources.
Sony won't update a older phone than Xperia Z, ZU, ZL, Tablet Z etc... because its market strategy is don't update devices. Even RAM isn't an issue for no update, 4.4 is designed to run perfect with 512mb ram devices.
My Xperia tipo will be the last, and the first sony device I buy.
Sony itself won't give a damn about Tipo and that category models,it's up to the developers to do their tricks and bring us KitKat
Oh Odin why??

well sorry if I was wrong about the openGL..
I thought 4.4 too wouldn't work...
To desire nikez have made 4.3 with kernel 2.8. And xperia Miro is better than HTC desire.
He is porting kit kat to it right now and it's not even with kernel 3
So it can not be impossible.
But it's a realy hard job

one thing we have sources for 3.4 kernel and our dirvers are writen for 3.4 kernel thats way we need to inporve 3.4
Moved to Q&A, as it is a question after all
Also, I think the Question is answered, that these devices will most likely not get updated.
(I personally don't think so, too TBH)

Yes, we need some good devs apart from the ones who ported the 2 roms....
I used htcdev to unlock the bootloader and then flashed SuperSu but i got a buggy root looks like.
Also having issues with the sdcard write problem created by google...
I'm trying to sort out my kinks to set it up as per my liking using xposed modules etc...

There is no method without unlocking bootloader. I tried a lot, none of the other exploits worked,, unless you want to spend

Yeah bro... Actually i had unlocked ? my bootloader and backed up DRM keys (require root) but after 2 months my power button was not working properly....
What i did..
Restore DRM & relocked bootloader and flash the stock rom.... And then send it to service center and they also fix the issue for free!!
So is there any way to gain the warranty back like in samsung we can clear flash counters by "triangle away" app... And here in sony with DRM method??

Hmm... I wonder. Is it okay to pick up a single sim version? Looks like everyone has dual sim here and I'm a little worried when ROMs do get ported, it might not work on the single sim version. Would it work anyway? Or do I really have to go for the dual sim?

Nope but root is available if it has a unlockable bootloader. Xa isn't in the Sony open devices project with it being a mediatek powered xperia either. Besides modified stock is much better than cm or aosp I think personally from previous experience with xperia custom roms.
I'm more than happy with my xa even without root(no way to back up ta keys currently)

Yes you right, stock rom is good and updates make the phone better. As you said before XA is a mid range device and is not supported by Sony Open Project, the phone is open enough to cook some rom but we don't have any dev in the place... I tried to port/build CM13, I found almost all sources but I don't have skills to built and debug it...

Doubtful, all xperia devices released since z3+(with the exception of the m5) all use dm-verity security and device encryption and have needed a unlocked bootloader to gain root access. This isn't such a problem with the other xperia devices as thru all have ways of backing up the drm/ta keys. It's not currently possible to back up the drm/ta keys on any of the x range as they all come with mm not lollipop. One of reasons I've been using a stock xa since July, I'm not prepared to loose the drm/ta keys permanently made that mistake before.

Nope, currently not possible to back up drm/ta keys on any of the x range and none of the z5 ways will work as all the x range has mm out of the box. It's currently either wait in hope that a way to back them up is found(what I'm currently doing) or unlock the bootloader and loose the drm/ta keys permanently and voiding the warranty in the process(some people aren't bothered) I've made the mistake of permanently loosing ta keys before won't be doing again.

Yes just done the exact same thing on three myself, got sick of the extra stuff three added plus they haven't updated to 33.2.A.2.93 yet so I've flashed the customised UK firmware. Battery life is much better than the three firmware too. Best thing about three xperia devices is no worries about not being able to unlock the bootloader if you want too though there's no ta key back up possible on the x range

No that is will only reinstall the software already on the device if you do a software repair or update it if it is a update.
You'll need to use the latest version of flashtool to download+create a ftf of your choice and then flash it takes between ten minutes and half hour.

Flashtool works on totally stock devices no root or bootloader unlock required. It downloads the firmware from Sony's own servers(they only keep current versions though) and yes you'll still be able to get updates as your not rooting it or unlocking the bootloader or modifying the system in any way. Three only supply sim free network unlocked devices for all there handsets payg or contract they just add there own bloatware to it.

Take note of the date in the image posted, trust me there network unlocked and bootloader unlockable one of the main reasons I have a contract with three its how I got the xa as a upgrade had a unlocked m2 from them previously on contract, flash customised UK firmware via flashtool(which is nothing to do with xperia companion) or don't believe me and stay as you are waiting for three to push the update which they don't even have yet I've checked with them they knew nothing about 33.2.A.2.93
I have the exact same device as you but I'm now running 33.2.A.2.93 customised UK firmware rather than 33.2.A.2.73 three UK firmware

Flashtool is totally separate to Sonys EMMA software Emma is Sonys official software for unlocked bootloader devices only.
Flashtool by androxyde is totally different and works on totally stock devices.
The bootloader is unlockable as mine is but it comes locked you need to email Sony requesting a unlock code and follow the instructions, unlocking the bootloader also voids the warranty.
My Xperia needs to be off and oem unlock checked and it should be fine
Try following this guide if you want root and unlocked bootloader

Enable the aggressive doze and doze on the go feature via adb in greenify, it makes doze more like old stamina mode. Gives you full instructions on how to enable it in the app. After using both three and customised UK firmware, the customised UK is definitely the better of the two. Glad to hear you are happy three must of only just got the firmware from Sony as a week ago they knew nothing about it. Why I ended up with the customised UK firmware
