I have a retired S3 that is no longer on service with Verizon. It's stock rooted at the moment.
I'm simply looking for the best replacement ROM to run the essentials only, the phone will be running Torque Pro, that's about it..
Any recommendations?
Quick search and read. Will help you answer your own question.
My suggestion is stock rom.
Just be careful with vzw s3..you will brick if you try to root it if it's already on 4.3....actually you can root it, I think, but you'd be limited to touch wiz roms only. There are extensive threads on the subject and you should really check them out before doing anything.

I'd stay with stock but you can always debloat if you choose to
From my S3 on Wicked 4.3
I don't like bloated stock. I'm going to go with one of the clean, debloated ROMs

You can easily debloat stock also. The easier way is probably a rom with it already done. I've had to do it even on custom roms

I just got my Mom's old SGII Skyrocket to resale.
It has GB on it. I would like to put Kitkat on it for Ebay or Swappa.
What ROM would be the closest to a "Stock" experience?
I've ROM'd my Note 1 and Note 3.
Any Gotcha's I should know about on the SGII SR?
Is there a quick easy Root and Recovery method to that all at once?
No best threads period.

IBTL, but if I was going to sell, I would put the latest stock ROM on it, which I believe is JB 4.0.1.

I've considered that as well.
But sometimes the latest OS is a good selling point over all the others.

then read about cm11 b4 flashing, latest is not official, if selling it then just flash latest stock and be done with it where everything is almost guaranteed to work
I say not to put a rom on it. As you never know what could happen if you did. I recommend just sticking to stock. The latest stock is 4.1.2 jellybean for the Skyrocket. If they wish to get kitkat on it then they can take the risk themselves and you won't have to deal with it.

Yeah, that was my point, you are just asking for grief if you put a custom ROM on it.
Best is a term that only the individual can determine. As XDA is not a support site, this thread is closed.
Hi guys,
I'm new here as a user, but I used xda frequently. I haven't found any info as an answer to my question, so let me ask you:
Is there any way to install a 4.4.2 ROM on Galaxy S3 with KNOX? There are some specifications I want to add to this question:
1. I deleted all KNOX apps using Titanium Backup, so I think on the software side I'm clean.
2. It doesn't matter for me, whether this thing will trip my counter or not, the only thing I need is to install a different ROM.
3. ODIN got stuck in the middle when I tried to install a different ROM so I had to get back. (which on the other side means that I tripped my KNOX counter, I suppose)
4. I used Safestrap w/ a different partition on it, where I installed CM11, but it only showed me black screen.
5. I rooted my phone using saferoot application.
I would be very grateful if you could help me. The problem is that other threads that I saw only deal with avoiding KNOX tripping. In my case, I don't really care about the warranty. I only demand freedom in installing any ROM I want.
Thanks in advance.

Once you are on 4.3 you can only run safestrap and flash 4.3 based touchwiz ROMs only. This thread will give you the info you need:

Everything you needed was in the link I provided. In the OP (Original Post, or first post) of the thread I linked, the fifth link provided is titled "TW 4.3 Download list." Click on that link and you will see a list of 4.3 Touchwiz ROMs that are safestrap compatible. Here is the link to that thread:

Hey community! I am currently and sadly a GS4 user with AT&T. Have had to deal with safestrap which im thankful for, never a full unlock. Just purchased a G3 off swappa. Definitely looking forward to having full control over my device without restrictions.
Read around and rooting is obviously easy. Custom recovery is what im going to be looking into next. Whats your current rom if running custom? If your still on stock, why?
Cheers

Hello and welcome! I think you'll find the G3 to be a great device, especially now that there is development for it. I am running my Candy5 ROM. It's based on CM12 with some goodies added. Give it a shot once you get TWRP flashed. You won't regret it :good:

I'm still using cloudy ROM from the international thread. It is based off of the international stock kit Kat build. Everything works perfectly.

I was exactly like you except still had my s4 on mf3 firmware (which I passed down to my gramps): I got my g3 a lil after black Friday and love it. I'm running on pa 4.4.4 still since the battery life is phenomenal and basically no bugs. I do plan on going onto cm12 in the near future I think since its gone 'official' a few days ago. Btw I rooted mine with purpledrake

I'm a little confused. Wasn't the whole bumping thing website removed? Can development still happen if roms and kernels can't be bumped?

[Apologies for the piggyback]
I just got an LG G3 a couple of days ago and still using my first Note (i717) as a tablet. I cannot believe how smooth and fast this thing is, originally I was going to get the Note 4 but I'd rather spend $1.09 than $249.99+tax. So here I am an LG G3 member and it's good to be back on the forums with a fresh device.
Until At&T stop acting like a little-baby-b***h and locking their devices, you can try the available tools and tricks to get by.

I hate to be a stick in the mud but I agree. Especially since this phone is on lollipop. The N4 might have a chance on KK but I don't see that happening soon either. On the bright side this S6 is running great the way it is and has some nice features so I'm thankful for that.
You know I used to root to get decent performance of of a lagging phone, but I'm not sure I'm missing root that much. Now granted there are a few apps that I miss from no root. But I think I can live without root on this phone at the moment. Subject to change to
I'd love root for the ability to theme (theme store themes are garbage) as well as the ability too add things that should have never been removed. Stock browser, smart manager, etc.
Side note, I really hate that I can't draw on pics/screenshots like I could on my Note 3/4 and my s5. Samsung removes features I use in favor of what? /rant off

Why do you say it will "likely not be rooted"? Is Lollipop that much harder for the devs to root or something? Or is support dwindling?
I need root mainly because I need to be able to tether for my job on a daily basis and I'm not about to dish out even more $ to VZW.....my unlimited data is my unlimited data and I'll use it how I please.

Ever since the Mid Galaxy S4 area rooting has been pretty much useless anyway. The most I can do with a rooted S5 is flash lightened TW software which I can do on a non rooted phone. You can flash anything like Cyanogen or custom kernels so rooting now a days is pointless. With that said though it would still be cool if we could

This is not entirely true and depends on your usage. I use automation apps and without root, you don't have the ability to turn on and off GPS, Data, etc. There are other benefits to root as well such as ad blocking.

Rooted and on clean rom lite 1.1.
Rooted on stock ROM but removed bloatware, unwanted ringtones and notifications.
If you're on OC3 or OE2 and you know and fully understand the rooting process and the pros and cons that come along with rooting, GO FOR IT!
Debloat and have more control of your device.
If I weren't stuck on OF1, I'd be abusing the [email protected]#t out of my phone right now.
