Right after seeing the One X stop streaming Slacker I downloaded it on my Galaxy Nexus. It played it non stop. Its would seem its not Ice Cream Sandwich but maybe HTC and the way it did the multitasking. BUT, it can't be all bad if the One X streams all the other music apps I tried. And the others do work. If they work for me they should work for others. I tested Pandora, MOG, and Google Music. All streamed without a problem. I even sent texts to my device and it alerted me but still kept playing. While scrolling ans while the display is off.
I also talked to HTC Tech support. They stated that other HTC phones are ALSO having problems with Slacker. But with the other music apps working (and I seen work for myself) they said Slacker will be releasing a update to make it more compatible not only with the One X but the other HTC phones not working right. The release date they did not know.

fwiw, I just looked at the reviews for Slacker on Play Store and it seems like a lot of people are having this same problem with several other phones with the latest Slacker update... I personally only use Pandora, but just thought it was worth noting.
I am having problems with MOG running 1.2.67. Won't multitask for flip. Google Play works fine. Have not tried anyother, ie iHeartradio or the one that came with it.
HTC monkeyed with it (read: ruined it) to make sense run better:

To avoid any further confusion, lets keep all the multitasking discussions here. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I have been a long time subscriber, but sadly this is my first post, and since I have less than 10 posts, I can't really post in the developers forums. Thing is I recently switched carriers where I had a Galaxy S3, surprisingly still a relevant phone, I had it running CM 11, and I was happy with it. However since I left Verizon for Straight Talk, I had to first get a phone that was compatible with AT&T, since they wouldn't fully support my S3 (supposed to be a world phone, I know, I know), and I wanted the option to switch phone whenever I felt the need or want. So the phone I ended up with was a Samsung Rugby Pro, on paper it seems to have very similar hardware wit the S3, so I picked it up for $30 (good deal I thought). boy this phone was slowwww running Touch Wiz, so I rooted it, and put the latest version of CM that I could find which is CM 10 unofficial. Does anyone know where I can find any other ROMs for this device? It appears that development for this phone never really went far, unlike other devices, and CM 10 was all I can find for the Rugby, and it would be fine if I could get it to read the external SD card, I really don't want to go back to TW. So this is also my attempt at interacting with the great minds on this incredible resource. Thanks
Hello everyone. I'm considering the gear s2 but I don't have a Samsung phone. I know it will work with other android phones, I'm just curious as to how much you lose by not running on Samsung. Anyone have more than one phone to contrast between Sammy and others?
I'd like to know the same thing.
I heart there would be limitations when using:
Build in Messaging, email apps --> cant reply from watch
I'm using a Nexus 5, and the email app and text/messages app is missing. That said, you CAN reply to both easily through notifications, but you can't create an email from scratch. You CAN create a text from scratch by using your contacts or "Buddy" app. When you get a call you can reject it, but you can't swipe to answer it. Not a big deal, since there is no speaker to hold a two way conversation. However, my android wear watch allows me to answer or reject, and I've gotten used to answering on watch which activates the speaker phone on my phone.
At any rate, it is my belief that using the S2 on a non-Samsung phone is pretty close to how it works on a Samsung phone, the good and the bad.

This also happens on S2 when you use a Samsung phone also.
Right, but on a non Samsung phone I only get the option to reject, not answer (which for me sucks, but for most people is probably fine).
How does it play with play music?

My Gear S2 Classic won't connect to my Nexus 5X.
I was using it with my HTC One M8 (EU Version).
Everything was okay more or less.
BUT, I also have the issue that I only can reject calls and not answer. This is not how a Smartwatch should work like. If I use my Bluetooth headphones and there is a call coming in I would like to swipe on the watch to answer the call. Bad Samsung!
AND the German support is very poor. Nobody felt responsible; nobody can create a ticket for development. So nobody will get noticed about that issue. They just wanted to tell me, that my phone is not supported, but this is not, what the Samsung website and marketing tells me.
Another annoying aspect is that sometimes the reconnect took more than 5 minutes.
Long story short, I will return the watch today. On the one hand because of missing compatibility and on the other hand because of missing support for not Samsung users. If they do not support when the watch is new, what will they do in a year?
I liked the design very much and some of the features, but yeah I want more for my money.
Also for 9 days (since 12 October) Nexus phones on Marshmallow cannot stay connected to S2's Bluetooth. You have to reset S2 every time S2 goes out of range of phone. Very frustrating...
Using with LG G4 and pretty happy with it. No native messaging or email app, but I'm not looking to create any texts or emails from scratch on a watch. Also SMS is probably my least common way of messaging someone these days so not losing much there.
You can reply with short messages to notifications which works great for me, especially for email. I think the only other thing missing is swiping to answer a call. S health works great, one of my favorite parts of the watch!
Also I bought the new moto 360 first and returned it, previously owned a Pebble. All touch navigation on a watch was just awful for me, I couldn't see myself enjoying the watch. So I decided to give S2 a try and I really like it so far.
HI,

I just bought a Gear S2 yesterday and I've run into this too with my Nexus 5. Super frustrated.
Yup, day 10 and still no way to keep S2 connected to phones on Marshmallow.
I have a Nexus 5X, yesterday i went to buy this S2......
but impossible, the samsung gear app not available for my phone on play store. i went to play store from apps.samsung.com/gear, because when i look for it is impossible, and from the web link to the play store and say that is not for my phone.
Is for the phone? for android 6?

interesting. I got my S2 while my Nexus 5 was still on 5.1.1 and the S2 worked fine (I had to get the Gear app from the Samsung Web link). Then on October 12, there was an update to the Gear app on the Play Store from Samsung that said it was their Marshmallow 6.0 update. I had been waiting for two weeks to update my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow just to make sure there were not Marshmallow bugs that were gonna brick my phone, like what happened to my phone with Lollipop last December. I finally decided to upgrade phone to Marshmallow, and the Gear app to Marshmallow, and since October 12, S2 will not stay connected to my Nexus 5. Samsung put out an update to Gear app on October 15, and October 16,and still could not connect the S2 to phone. 14 days later, and still cannot keep S2 connected.
Now I'm curious that your Gear app is saying not compatible with your 5X. They must have quietly(!!!) retracted Marshmallow support. If so, that explains a lot, and almost makes me happy, cause I haven't even been able to make them understand when I called them, that Marshmallow phones cannot stay connected to the S2. Now I feel that they probably know.
Needless to say I'm disappointed with the s2 paired to my lg g4, but I'm rather stuck; I like the hardware and watch control via the rotating face to much to return it, but lack of paid apps (and lack of free apps variety), and the fact that it's not running android wear are huge draw backs.
That being said, it does what I need, and that's time and date, notifications and can reply to them from the watch. I am looking really hard at the Huawei watch, but we'll see...

Then, with this info, we can say that app for pair the phone with this watch is not for android 6.
my nexus 5x is stock, all stock and the app is not available for it
only one thing we can do, wait, wait, and wait
I keep seeing people talking about paid apps on the gear app store, but all I see is free ones. What exactly does one have to do to get paid apps to show up?
Apparently you can see paid apps only if you have an Samsung account. That's a big let down for non Samsung phone users including myself. Hope they rectify that in the upcoming updates.
OK, I have Samsung account, Gear App Manager and can see only free apps. What do I have to do to buy and install paid apps, like My Notes? BTW, I'm using Moto X 2gen.
I'm sorry, correction to the earlier reply. You can see paid apps only if you have an Samsung phone not an Samsung account. Sucks big time. Gonna try installing gear plugin apk downloaded from Samsung phone and see if that works.
Any news in this? Is it confirmed that you can only use paid apps together with a Samsung phone? Anything official in this?
I wrote Samsung support today to get an answer.

Dies anyone know how the Gear Store behaves when using a Samsung phone with a TW-based custom Rom? I.e. Stock based, but rooted, modified and debloated?
i only could say, that with CyanogenMod on a Galaxy s4 it won't work. have u delete the samsung appshop? This one is needed in my case to get the gear manager app.
This was more of a "what if" kind of question. I do not own a samsung phone right now, but I'll be getting a S5+ in a couple of days. I did not think it would work with CM though, but probably with a stock rooted and somewhat modified rom it would be okay. Do Gear Shop or Samsung appshop care about Knox-flags?
It's not just paid apps. I have a samsung note 5 that I have been using the the S2 watch for the past week. I love it. Yesterday I got a new Blackberry Priv. The number of apps, including free apps, available in the Gear app store is much less than on my note 5. This is especially true of watch faces. I was extremely happy with my watch before because I had a few watch faces I loved. But now that I can't seem to get those when paired with my new phone, I don't know if I will keep it. does anyone know how to extract a watch face from one phone to another?
