Return to stock rom from samsung - I9100 - Android General

Hi friends,
I installed CM10.2 on my galaxy S2 using CM installer and now I want to return back to the original rom from samsung. can you please tell me how to do it.. I read about using some software called odin but my device is not connecting to it. I do not know what the problem is. Can I simply download the samsung rom and install it using recovery option?

Guys... can anyone help me with this...?

your phone needs to be in recovery mode before you can use odin.
see guide(s) in the respective threads

Could you please elaborate on step 2 and 3. I can't even get the phone to recognize either in Kies. Does the phone have to be activated? I'm try to create a stock and a rooted rom of this device. Please advise. Thanks in advance!

Bump for this. Kies does NOT support the SCH-R720 and it stated in their FAQ. How do we go about retrieving those values? I've also tried the phone key combinations and no luck either.
Mind you, my phone's only been rooted but never activated.
Hey everyone, those of you that haven't flashed CWM yet, check out ACSyndicate.net, I have posted my tutorial with all necessary downloads. I write for ACS under screen name artifintel

Stock Firmware
Here's a download of the latest Stock XWJW1 Firmware, with Odin included to flash the three files to your mobile with the xx512.pit file. Mind you, you may need to check [x] Repartition in Odin and make sure you put the right file in the right field for flashing.
Put your phone in Download-mode by Pressing and Holding Power+VOL.Down+Home, let go of the Power-key as the phone boots, but keep pressing Vol.Down+Home. Attach your phone, and flash away.

when u use the method of flashing .tar file using odin its like unrooting your phone ; flashing the whole firmware in your phone again . in reboot mode or i guess the recovery mode ur talking about where u need to press buttons in ur device to be able to do that. it does the same thing but it just a lot easier than using odin.
but i guess your not rooted so just use the recovery mode or even in your settings option ; there is also factory reset option . but when your rooted, u need to go in odin method ..

Bro,
Power+home key +volume up= recovery mode
In this mode you can factory reset /wipe data/wipe cached partition/install zip etc.
Poeer+home key+volume down= download mode
In this mode can flash any custom rom/recovery etc. Means you can flash .tar file with your computer . But you need odin etc installed on your pc.
Hope this helps... This has nothing to do with rooted or unrooted device.

Since your phone is rooted , even you will flash/install rom or "custom" rom it wont unroot your phone because flashing "custom" rom from the name itself, it is customized by our respected developers to make our device more personalize and so we can do some things in our device that we cant do in our non-rooted phones. you need proper files to remove root in your device its called unrooting or unbricking. Maybe some feauters dont work because of your custom rom or any system app you accidentally deleted. to correct it , you can do factory reset but since it didnt work you can try to restore your backup if you ever made one. But i suggest to unroot your device or return it to its stock to be sure so you can really start all over again...
you can easily search how to unroot your phone.

Smart switch --> new KIES
Turned out I used wrong firmware, managed to hard reboot by holding power button then reflashed correct firmware......then I took the phone back and swapped it for HTC M9
sorry for late reply, I did a hard reboot by holding power button and restarted odin....then flashed the correct file

[Completed] cyanogenmod Galaxy s4 unflash

Hello,
I have not been able to find a clear answer to this anywhere.
Recently decided to try a new cyanogenmod on my s4 tmobile. I already had the phone rooted so I used CWM to flash the phone. Everything worked fine except CM13 didn't leave CWM and I don't have access to adroid apps so I can't download it. Recovery mode just brings me to a mode that Ive researched and am supposed to use ODIN with.
Is there anyway to flash a different rom onto my phone without odin? I only have a mac and probably wont have access to a PC for a good while.
Thanks,
Travis

Sure!
I think my phone was still rooted at this point.
So I used the stock browser in Cynogenmod to download CWM apk file straight to the phone.
I enabled usb debugging mode by going to settings/about device and pressing a bunch of times on build number, then back under settings developer options enabled usb debugging.
Found the CWM apk file under my downloads, clicked on it to install.
Once I had CWM, I opened it and got into recovery mode from there, then flashed to a different ROM from my SD card (Insane Hybrid V6, on the XDA forum, i like it)
