This guide teaches you to reverse tether your Android phone via WiFi. That is, it allows you to use your Ethernet connection of PC on your Android phone. It is useful for those who do not have WiFi routers and data connection. So if you have unlimited data plan for your computer, why not share the connection with your phone?
I am not the developer of the files supplied
Requirements:-
1.Rooted Phone
2.Wifi enabled Laptop or PC
3.Root explorer or any other application which gives system access
4.File in the attachement
Procedure :-
Phone:
Download Wpa_supplicant.zip and extract "wpa_supplicant" from it, save it on your SD card.
Open Root Explorer, and grant it superuser access when asked for.
Navigate to system -> bin and long press on wpa_supplicant; Select copy, and paste the file into any folder on your SD card.
Now navigate to the file you downloaded, copy it in same way, and paste it back to system -> bin. Note, you might need to mount the system as R/W instead of R/O by pressing a button on the top just before pasting the file.
Reboot.
▬▬Ubuntu (Must work for other Linux Distros too)▬▬:
Open Network Connections
Goto Wireless tab, select add, and set the following:
SSID:
Mode: Ad hoc
Leave other things unchanged, and go to Ipv4 settings tab
Set method to Shared to other computers
Go to Wireless security tab and set Security to WEP 40/128 bit key and set key to a numeric password (or hexadecimal one).
Check the connect automatically box on top of the tabs and press Save.
Your Android phone must now detect this network, and you can establish the connection by using your security key.
▬▬Windows XP, Vista, 7▬▬
Download and Install Connectify from www . connectify.me/download-lite/
Start Connectify Hotspot by giving a name and password to your hotspot and selecting the Ethernet connection to share. Make sure the security type is WEP or Open.
Disable your firewall (Simply adding it to exceptions doesn't work for AVG at least)
Now your phone should be able to see the hotspot and establish the connection using the password set.
Known Issues :
1.Random disconnections (Very less frequency)
2.Disconnections due to screen lock / sleep on laptop
3.For me Security mode does not works
HIT THANKS IF IT WORKED

Hello there,
I have a nice little sbkv2 tf101, and I wish to install a clean Ubuntu on it in dualboot.
So I followed the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852702 and I tried to do it, it seemed quite simple.
I used the Olife wheelie updater to send the ubuntu.img found in the last thread (and renamed into ubuntu.img) and some packages for android.
Everything was send successfully.
I did the setup thing and configure the wpa_supplicant.conf (and removed other config):
Code:
network = {
[INDENT]ssid="myconnectblabla"
scan_ssid=1
proto=RSN
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
psk="mypasswordyouwontseehere"[/INDENT]
}
I didn't change much...
My router use the WPA-TKIP protection (I dont have more information about)
I then rebooted and I found the message:
wait for connection
60 sec ..blabla
and falling back to the commandline entries.
My question is : do we have to add some special driver update? I can't see why it is not working...
I also tried:
change in my router: password, WEP, WPA-TKIP+AEP, and some other configuration.
different configuration of wpa_supplicant.conf using howtos
change the kernel with Jhinta's one (I had some kernel panic...)
I assume I'm quite a newbie but I can't find anything extremely clear anywhere about it...
Somebody have any idea how to successfully connect it to my network?
Hi.
Is it possible to change mac address on Moto G?
I tried every app on the market, some of them won't change the mac address and some of them won't connect to the router (can't pass authentication).
With rootbrowser I searched my phone for files that have "wifi" in their name, and then searched that file for word "mac" and searched my mac address in that file.
In xtwifi.conf I found the word mac:
# if we should use fake wifi scanner to report injected MAC address
# value 0: (default) we are going to use the real wifi scanner on board.
# value non-zero: we are going to use the injected MAC address
ENABLE_TEST_FAKE_WIFI_SCAM = 0
Any ideas?
It's a hardware address.. You can't change it...

Why would someone wants to change their phones Mac address? Can someone please enlighten us?
Some routers have mac filtering. You can not connect to that router if your mac address is not the same as the saved ones in the router.

But arent you supppsed to be the one to set your mac address in the router to allow your device to be connected?
That's the point, it's not your router

Hello, I know its old, but I managed to change it on my ROOTed Moto G (Kit Kat) for other people...
Its in
Code:
/persist/WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin
saved in binary.
View it:
Code:
busybox hexdump -C WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin
You'll see 4 MAC addresses, each increase by one.
Quick Overwrite:
Code:
echo -n -e \\x00\\x00\\x01\\x02\\x01\\x01\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xE1\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xE2\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xE3\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xEE\\xE4\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x30\\x02 > /persist/WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin
You might want to check the starting and ending characters with your output, before you write it.

I can confirm that this works also on Moto E, running Android 4.4 as well as 5.1. Thanks for the tip!
I was not very comfortable with using terminal. This is what I did.
Open the file /persist/WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin in Hex Mode. Some file browsers (eg. X-Plore File Browser) with root capability also supports hex editing. I will recommend keeping a backup, just in case.
The file should contain the MAC address 4 times, incremented by 1. You can check your current MAC address from Settings->WiFi->Advanced
Change all the four MAC present in the file, also incremented by 1. Leave all other hex values unchanged.
That's it!
Also, this is permanent. What I mean to say is that the MAC address remains unchanged after reboot and even after flashing another ROM. So if you want to get back your original MAC, you need to change file manually (the backup might come in handy).
I am using Bluestack 0.9.7.4101 which is already rooted.I want to change its Wifi MAC Address as that of my moblie.So is there any way to change Bluestack Wifi MAC to a specific one,for example,11:22:33:44:55:66.I installed BusyBox and Terminal Emulator,but unable to change Wifi MAC,as it has two MAC address ,so please help to change only the wifi MAC.
bump. Any solution?
