Hello everyone, I want to tell you about a new game which was developed by me and one dude in 4 month.
This game is really casual and hard as it turned out for players. Honestly saying casuality of this game is high and you can wonder why this game develope so long time. Unfortunately gamedev is not predicatable thing - seems to be easy, but seems to be no. It seems to be a cool, but it seems to be no. I wrote to 8 publishers (maybe incorrectly I guess and they havn't read), but only one replied, it is LeTang.
Before final verion they said they are quite interested with this game, however when they got a final version for test they denied it. Their arguments were they already have several same games and this game is not outstanding.
Okay, that's alright, whatever, but 4 month of development were behind our backs. Nothing is left only we could try to publish this game by ourselfs.
If you enjoyed with Flappy Bird, you will like Get The Mouse too. But don't think it is a clone, not at all, even game mechanics much more different and diverse, just if gamer could get more then 5 scores in Flappy Bird he will be able to get much more in Get The Mouse or maybe he will can get to the end. Yes, this game has the end but no levels, only one tunnel 200 meters long.
You will pull out the mouse by its tail and don't let it glut oneself cheese, because if it eating the cheese it growing and finally just will stuck in tunnel. And here is an example of tunnel
You can decrease size of the mouse you just need to tap fast on it and it will fart (sorry) and get smaller. Sometimes. when everything is complicated, there is a possibility to use time dilation and while it acts you can decrease its size. Oh yes most hardcore players can gather the coins by their fingers, but is not necessary, because scores will be converted to coins. You can't buy coins for real money.
And finally here is a promo video from youtube
Quality of video is bad, but there was no resources or skills for better.
And here is a link to Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lennon.mouse.android
P.S Let's discuss! I would be glad to answer to your questions if you have some. Also I wonder to read any criticism. I want to discuss this game with other people if someone will be interested to discuss. Thank for you time!
How many other threads goes above this thread.... Does anybody has any comments, please?
totally new idea

Hello again!
Guys, I'm disappointed how Google Play gives and output of search results. On my PC I see this game on 64-th place whe searching "Get The Mouse" without quotes. And on my phone I see it on 14-th place. I wonder how many people stops searching Get The Mouse when they don't see it after two or more scrolls to the bottom of the page.
It looks really hard, but only at first look. Can you make posting of scores? I got 4538 scores, I wonder is there somebody else who could get more?

It is depends on motivation. More users - more motivation. I think I will implement leaderboards using Google Play services. More over I will make multiplier using Google Play services too.
It's a pretty fun game good work. Which engine did you use and how long did it take you to make?

Engine is LIBGDX and it was took about 4 monthes with some periodical rests. We had not much time for game.
Good idea for this sort of game. Usually games where you are punished for hitting the wall just end on hitting the wall, and leave a frustrated user (me!). With your game you can continue playing, if the mouse has not gotten to fat, and therefore it's fun to play.
Nice game. I really like the graphics In your promo video, I suggest that you use some sort of screen capture software to do that instead of using camera. That's a huge minus point for your game promotion
Great! Like this app!!
I tried it and looks very nice
Good job
Mad graphics, did you do them all yourself?

In a distant future, a dark force gained control of the universe. Everything stopped moving – the time is frozen and gravity is gone. The only hope of recovering the universe relies on “Constant C,” a robot gifted with a small circle of power, allowing Constant C to move and to revive the time and gravity within the circle. When Constant C approaches an object, the object becomes “alive” and when Constant C leaves, the object becomes frozen again. By making good use of Constant C’s power, your mission is to remove obstacles ahead and find a way for Constant C to reach the control center of the dark force.
There are 29 levels. To solve the puzzles, you need to be intelligent and creative. Each puzzle gives you a new experience, and along the way, your will learn important skills that can help you solve the puzzles. It's amazying.
I made it to halfway through world 2- here are my thoughts.
This game is beautiful- it looks great, and the way it works is absolutely fantastic. I can honestly say it is one of the best games I've yet to play on Android- maybe the best.
That being said, it is way too big. 5MB should be the max before installation to SD should be implemented- this game is over 20. Either work on reusing more textures, or have it install to SD.
I was playing with the device laying down, and the gravity button was flipping out- switching every update cycle and just going crazy. You may want to have it display an X if the values aren't high enough to justify a gravity switch (I love the way this mechanic works, by the way!)
Fix these issues, and most standard prices you would ask for would be too low for this game- I would gladly pay for more worlds. (Though, if more worlds were added, you may want to work on the difficulty curve- if you want my thoughts on that, let me know). Again, great job!
Thanks that's huge compliment you give us there.. we are really appreciate.
We will work on the to SD feature.. since a lot of people had demanded it! I'll update it ASAP.
there are some reason makes us can't reuse texture though
first .. our artist is new in drawing texture for games... he just draw whatever he feels right and not considering about texture size and reusability. (we will do it better next time)
second.. in some device.. too many sprites makes game really laggy.. so we tend to use huge jpg file for background
i don't know anything about marketing on android app.... because we are totally noobies in this... Actually this game is not only our first game on android.. it's our first android app if you don't count "Hello World" as a app XD
After we think we learn enough to build this game. we go straight into it. It take us 5 months to build because we need to learn new stuff along the way
I use XNA mostly, and my brother use c++ and some graphic engine from his lab, neither did we use andengine before. and we love it!
We are thinking putting ads in it....and yet it's something we never tried XD, so I might need to check documents. After that we will release a clean ads free version for 0.99$ i think..for us.. most important thing is people can play our game. and feel it's not waste of time. those few hour must actually means something
Downloaded to my htc inspire 4G. I Am amazed by what you have created. This is awsome! I love free...but this needs to be a paid game. It is worth every penny.

This game is pretty awesome. Albeit I've had my phone for about 2 months, I've never played a game with these game mechanics. Very original and an amazing first app. I also just started learning android and will be developing my first app in the coming months, and I don't think it will be nearly as good.
thanks
thanks!I think you will do it great too! we just began java programming 4 months ago!

it's a great game!
Just read about this on the portal. Downloaded it on my A100 and started playing, will have to download it to my EVO 3D later. Love it. This is definitely better than some of the games that other devs charge for. Excellent work.
Last night i try it on galaxy S, and work superb, thanks

Hey wussup xda-devs
We're BIpbop games and we made this little indie action game Reflect Yoself: Drawing Action!
Very hard and dare to say fun
Screenshots attached.
Description:
Draw the lines with your finger to make cute monster bounce in desired direction. This simple game is a hard and fun challenge for your orientation ability - You'll need to predict and aim where you wanna reflect by drawing a line in front of your moving player to change his course. It's really easy to play but hard to master.
Avoid a cloudy cloud and eat as many lemons as you can. If you grab 'em fast and bounce, you'll be awarded with bonus points for that action. Now you can show your precision by quickly lightning three torches in a row and get few points extra.
Install:
For now you can install it from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bipbop.Reflect
What do you guys think? Do you like it? Somebody just made 250+ points, can you o better?
Thanks for your time and happy reflecting!
That really is challenging. I like the gameplay a lot. It could maybe use some more instruction as new things appear, for instance I have no idea what the bomb looking things are supposed to do
Thanks... yeah those 3 things are supposed to be torches and you need to fire all three of em in a row to get a precision bonus
Nice music and sounds, I like it. And it's not easy to play, something like Flappy Bird (but it's not that hard). Here is how it looks. Also, I appreciate that there are no unnecessary permissions for this apk!
nice game!
Thanks guys... :highfive: we're doing our best to deliver the best possible product we (us two) can!
Any feedback is much appreciated...
Cheers!

Thanks man... yeah it's really hard to see the real picture because we have so little downloads and those we have are pretty much from our friends & family... so... we're still trying to do some marketing and get more downloads and then it would be probably be more clear if the game is good or not... We love it but, you know... if it doesn't get to users, it's not that good
So,, do you maybe have some advice on mobile game marketing? I found this good but kinda old resource http://www.pixelprospector.com/the-big-list-of-indie-game-marketing/

I've sent you the files through PM, thanks for the help.
Could you tell me what did you mean by strange controls? I wanted it to be hard, but not "hard to play", if it makes any sense.
It's a really nice game if you want to kill some minutes. It's fun to play it and you really want to improve your highscore. In my opinon it's a little bit harder than flappy bird or something like this but everybody who visits this thread should give it a try
At first I had problems with the controls, but that was a failure with my current custom Rom and had nothing to do with the app.
it looks like typical good run/arcade game, but static backgrounds isn't cool. IMHO
Great game ! It is very well done, with attention to details like performance, music, graphics. This is not common in many 2D android games. I heavily recommend trying it !

I'm glad to hear that you liked it. About it being harder than flappy bird... It wasn't my intention, but it can be. It's a little harder to learn, but when you get the grasp of it, mechanics are easy (but still hard to master!). Also, I'm pretty sure, that it can be a lot more rewarding than flappy bird.

Hey there, I tried your game out and I'd like to share my feedback with you.
It took me a few minutes to realize that I could tap the right side of the screen to keep the copter up in the air. Maybe have a little "tutorial" at the beginning explaining the controls? Or some kind of button/visual to show that the right screen is for keeping the copter up.
After a second run, I did noticed your "how to play" button on the menu. Maybe you should display that at the beginning game for first time users.
You don't seem to have back buttons for "how to play" and "high scores". I have to exit the app to get out of it.
I hate to be that guy, but I find the full screen ads a little intrusive for this kind of game. The banner ad on the corner is fine though.
Could be a fun game with a bit more polishing. Mainly with the controls, and the UX. Good luck with your game!

Oh okay, yeah I must have not seen them. One last thing is try animating some of the UI elements by "tweening". Like, maybe the game over dialog can slide up to the middle of the screen. Things like that will make the game feel more polished. Keep it up!

I found the time to play it, and I was impressed by how the music complimented the art style. It gave your game a nice little aesthetic.
At first It was difficult, but after a few minutes of playing I got a little better.
I was also initially confused about how to play in the different worlds that are shown on the screenshots.
That was until I discovered that you had to collect a certain amount of stars to open the next world.
This actually gave me more incentive to continue getting better.
My only (minor) complaint is the backgrounds. They look great, but they're a bit static.
I couldn't help but feel that I was playng in front of a stage. But again, this is very minor and easy to look past for me.
Overall great game with great production value!
BTW, I love steampunk, so sorry if my review is a bit biased!

What do you guys think about integrating Google Play Games Services(leaderboards, achievements)?
Hi guys. I'm new here. I'm young developer from Poland. I have 17 years and my passion is playing guitar and making games. Joe The Runner is my first android game. Just run, jump and slide. I don't know if it don't have bugs because i dont have enought phones to test it ;/. If you will find any bugs please dont rate 1/5 . Give some info about error in this thread and you can be sure i will fix it. In game there is no annoying ads. The only ad is show when you press button: "FREE COINS FOR ADS" . You can buy 2 more champions in game with this coins but you can't buy coin with real money. You must run 400m = 1 coin or fastest way added in this update(1.16) watch ad and get 4 coins. I know that this app isn't some super ultra giga awesome app but It's my first app and i hope you like it. Like my friends said: "It's good when you taking a s**t "

Good job on your first game. If I come across any bugs I will let you know.
Hello
Hi
I am new to the whole programming and android thing, so I thought I would look at some games that other developers have made. Before sharing my game since I'm quite shy . So putting aside as to how terrible I am at your game (played it for 30 mins never made it past 250m.. -_-'), I did spot some bugs, for one when you do watch the 15 sec video, you don't actually get the 4 coins straight away, you have to click something in order for the counter to be updated. Another bug is that when you are running the amount of meters run is a bit to the right that it gets clipped off the screen. Not a bug, more of a critique but I wish that the controls were more responsive, I feel like when I jump there is a delay. But I also have a question, what is the point of have a link to your game page on your screen?
Thanks for good words and bugs. I check this and on my xperia e I dont have any delay but on faster Landvo l500s i have. It must be something with fps. I will check it tomorrow because today im really tired ;/ With this 4 gold i notice this and fix it already but i want to fix all bugs before i will update this on google play. And... what link? I Don't be shy. We cant be shy in game development if we want some people to play our games. I'm new on this forum but what i can see now this community is awesome and I should come here earlier. Again thanks guys for your good words and support it's really nice to see people playing game you made
1DEA If you have game and you too shy to post it here you can add testers in google play dev console. I can help you test your game if you want
Good job and i say You made a nice game ^^
Bigggg thanks!!!
Reflection
Reflection is a geometry-based puzzle game where the objective is to hit every wall with the ball. As you progress through the levels, new obstacles get in your way.
This game has been in closed beta for the last two months, and the people invited to this beta have helped me get this game ready for full publication. Now that the game is ready, I figured I'd post it here as well since the XDA community has always been very helpful.
If you find anything noteworthy about the game, like a bug or glitch, I'd really appreciate your input.

Thank you for the input! I'll write this down, next update will make the back button functional. I'll see if I can do something about the level menu.
Although I appeal the challenge part, I think some people like the entertaining part and want to get past a game.
Some better and more obvious hints would be nice.
Also making the last level easier than the 5th makes no sense
The back and euro button obstruct some of the levels. See screenshot

To help people get past the game without having to finish each level, you can skip a level and just select the next one. I feel as though adding easier hints would almost feel like cheating and diminish the rewarding feeling you get after completing a level by figuring it out yourself.
In regards to level 5, I might just make the circle a bit smaller, that way it should be easier. It's tough figuring out how hard I have to make levels, since there's a large difference between completiontimes of different people. There's people who think those levels are too hard, and there's people who think it's too easy. If there's more people that share your opinion on level 5, I'll definitely change it. Again, thanks for your input, it helps me improve the game a lot!

You're right. I'll change that in the next update. Thank you!
Hi! I played all 60 levels yesterday in about an hour. It's a good game but I can't ignore its obvious similarity with Okay?. I'm a big fan of Okay? and the ingenuity of those levels, sound design and physics exceed those of Reflection by a grand margin. Then again, this game is about hitting the same 4 walls each time which is a clever take on this genre but, in my opinion, a bit boring too. There's a bug after donation request. I donated $0 (sorry) and it told me it was the end of the game for now. Only when I tapped twice I could see there are more levels. Just tapping the screen once should reset the level without any ball appearing. Oh and you could monetize the hint system by forcing a video ad when a hint is requested, that's perfectly fine.
Apologies if this posts seems a bit harsh, it's surely not intended that way. In fact, your efforts are much appreciated. All in all you created a pretty cool game that is fully functional and perfectly playable all the way through. Petje af
Game is surprisingly good what's your monetization platform? I have yet to see an ad or a prompt to buy an IAP!
Also any marketing strategies for a fellow developer?

Thank you! I barely make money off of this game, I've only added the option for people to donate if they want to. I feel like adding advertisements would have a negative impact on the game. Especially since it would barely make me any money, since I'm not expecting many people to download the game. Adding advertisements would only be an option once the game gains a lot more downloads.
I don't think I can help you with marketing, I'm not too great at it myself.

Thank you very much for your input!
I'm aware of Okay? and know of the similarities between the two games, yet I think Reflection differs from it quite a bit. Obviously that's subjective and I'm sure there's people that agree with you.
I've heard multiple people about the bug after the donation request, I'll fix it in the next update. The update might be a bit delayed though, since I have exams this week.
It is a very addictive semi-original idea and a very smooth gaming experience. The layout is simple and yet attractive. If you don't like geometry and a good brain workout, don't bother downloading the app, it is not a simple "game" like many others.
New update (1.1) will be pushed to the Play Store very soon! I've made some changes based on your input, more will come shortly:
Fixed bug going to the wrong level after the donation menu
Added function to the onscreen back-button
Made earlier levels easier
Reduced the number of times the 'double tap to select level' is shown
Thank you for playing my game!
Very nice!

You're a bit late to the game (haha, see what I did there?)...

it's never too late to rise a good game on the forum
Very simple idea. I think you can do something more.
Why is this game not on the Play Store anymore?
