[Q] Android L Nexus 5 Dalvik - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
Today, installed Android L LPV81C
I just wanted to check, If L has runtime ART. But not, I installed the Art Checker from the Play Store and I saw Dalvik (see attachments)
I don't know if it is true.
Any suggestions to enable art??
Thanks

Android L only has ART. Dalvik is removed in Android L. The app is reporting ART/Dalvik incorrectly due to incompatibility with Android L
Source: http://www.androidcentral.com/android-l-release-will-run-exclusively-art

If you search for dalvik in the settings search it will bring up the developer options. It doesn't show a dalvik option but it must still be in the code somewhere.
Just some useless info.

VPN on Android L

Is there any VPN working on Android L? I can't even log into my Google account and restore my apps in China because everything Google is now blocked....Hola doesn't work, fqrouter doesn't work either. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with it.
Thanks.
Um you do know that L is a developer preview edition, not necessarily ready for daily use...? I would read thru a bunch of the L threads already out there there might be a hack

I had the same problem. I use VyprVPN for China and couldn't even log into my account. Tried to set it up manually and also failed.

[Q] Android L slightly different from the publications

Hi, not sure if this goes here but here it goes.
I have installed Android L on my Nexus 5, I downloaded the official image from the google developer's site, but as I am looking at pictures (specifically comparisons between KK and L like this http://www.talkandroid.com/211731-check-out-a-visual-comparison-of-android-l-versus-android-kitkat/) I find that there are many things that I dont have, for example a gallery, my android L did not bring a gallery .. or apps like Gmail, keep, etc still look holo blue or KK style not like the nice pictures in many websites showing a new interface.. so to touch base it seems I am running L but the GApps are still KK. Could I have missed to do something at install or what could it be?

[Q] Android L Preview to "Stable" update, clarification needed

Hi guys!
Small question, or rather clarification needed.
With Android L Preview installed on device will I get all upcomming release updates or stable, final version will require me to perform clean install?
I am just curious if Android L was really released for N5 or Preview version is really something totally different...

Note: When the final Android 5.0 system image becomes available, it will be posted on the Factory Images for Nexus Devices page. To continue development (and receive future system updates), you should update your device with that image as soon as possible.

[Q] [N5] Android Lollipop standard eMail app crashes

Hi,
i decided to join XDA after just reading all the time.
To start off with a issue / question: After flashing the 2nd Lollipop developer preview (data / cache wiped) the standard eMail client crashes after i configured my credentials. Even the box to send an issue report just flickes in for a frame... I tried to google that but no way...
Anyone an idea to get the app working?
As off now I tried the following:
- reflash the whole thing (OS)
- deactivate and activate the app again
- clear the cash of the app
- deleted the apps data
App-Info:
E-Mail
Version 5.0-1519572

[Completed] Dalvik app working Android 5???

I would like to get an app working on Android 5 which uses more of Dalvik.
Is this possible?
Hi,
I see you have already asked this in 2 other area on XDA, so you will need to wait for a reply there. XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support. :good:
I can tell you, Dalvik is gone in 5.0. There is only Art Runtime. There is no way to have dalvik running on lollipop.
Good luck!
