Other way to S-OFF - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Ok so i am all about unlocking and rooting and flashing. And i got my htc two weeks ago and here is my problem. I can not s off with firewater method but i can gain root with weaksauce exploit. But still i can not pay 25$ for the sunshine exploit and i just want to make my phone s off.. And is there any other way that i can do to make my phone unlocked and flashable that you guys know for this verizon version that would be great because when im not able to flash roms kernels etc. i feel like im missing something.

Thank you for the answer. But is there any way that you can s-off with firewater but if you like flash a kernel or recovery while s-on and then try to push that exploit and hopefully s-off

I went the sunshine route as firewater didn't work for me.
Honestly 25.00 for gaining s-off and full access to your phone is cheap. I paid full retail 600 and change for this phone just to keep my unlimited data plan and did not think twice about dropping 25.00 more.
Remember that developers invest lots of time into this for us, so giving back only seems fair since time is money.

Search for a way to make htcdev work with the Verizon one m8. Looks like you're unable to use sunshine until the developers open up another way to pay.
Is there a way to pay through PayPal? That might be an alternative.

[Q] T-mobile lock/unlock

Is it possible to unlock the network on the phone? And also to S-Off+Root ? I'd like to buy it at that low price
as of yet there is no sim unlock tool nor is there an S-OFF tool, There is HTCDev which will unlock the bootloader to allow you to flash ROMS and ROOT and CWM Recovery, But thats all your getting for now...
give it 1 - 2 weeks the development will skyrocket.
So you think that they could do that?
Of course !! have a look around the forums, There is NOTHING these devs cant do..
hell im running ICS on a 2 year old SGS lol and it works flawlessly...
you'll be suprised whats about to come
I hope so, found some crazy prices on the internet for the T-mobile one s, but we have no T-mobile here..
The low prices on the One S are on a 2-year contract. The phone itself is $600 off contract.
But there will be root and S-Off soon as the phone comes out in a few days.

Which one of you guys knew about this?

AT&T is offering a limited HTC One Developer Edition with unlocked bootloader and it is already available on pre-order. However, even if if you’ve decided to get the regular HTC One from AT&T and want to get its bootloader unlocked, there’s nothing to worry about.
http://blog.gsmarena.com/att-htc-one-bootloader-is-unlockable-via-htcdev/
official launch april 19th.
It's been discussed in the One forums. But apparently AT&T plans to close this door on launch day.
Before you get too excited, though, HTC's affirmed to us that AT&T's One will not be supported by the HTCdev unlock service, which will effectively render its bootloader untouchable.

Same reason its best to get an iPhone 5 from Verizon, versus AT&T. They love to lock down EVERYTHING. Trust me, i used to work for them.

Verizon is worse. They've in the past sent updates that intentionally soft-bricked rooted phones to force people to take them to Verizon stores to be unrooted.

In addition to the guarantee of being bootloader unlocked (as opposed to this game of maybe/maybe not for the AT&T version), the Dev Edition is also SIM unlocked, and free of AT&T bloat (unbranded version of the ROM) for the same unsubsidized price as the AT&T version (for those that aren't eligible for an upgrade yet).

Here's but one example.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199042
Im probably going to get a T-Mobile version instead of dev edition. In a perfect world I could buy the dev edition 64gbyte version and flash a T-Mobile radio to enable all bands ever... But the dev version isn't even s-off (who does that, honestly)... So I'm opting for the T-Mobile version. LTE eats too much battery IMO.

one Click root?

Just curious if sometime in the future there will be a one click root for the maxx/mini/ultra/ moto x? I spent 4 hours in hell trying to get my Maxx rooted, finally succeeded but after all that it makes you really appreciate the work developers put into the exploits. I am assuming since the phones are so new, that it will be a while. I was more just curious if it was POSSIBLE than asking for a time frame of when to expect one.
No, unless someone puts together a very BIG utility.
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
I would say with 99.999999999% confidence there will NEVER be a 1click root solution for the new Droid line...

I honestly think I like doing the adb methods a lot more. Not only do you look cool doing it for friends (hahaha) but your also gaining the knowledge and practice of adb. I doubt we will ever see a one click again let alone another ROOT method since jcase announced he was done creating, but if we do. I personally hope for more methods that involve user interaction as I've learned ALOT this way.

Very important PSA!

DO NOT ACCEPT OTA UPDATES!
if you like to hack and mod that is. If ralekdev and other devs find an exploit for boot loader unlock chances are it will be in the release firmware. Remember Loki on the S4. How many of you still have that?

I wish I could be done with VZW. Wish wish wish.. I just need the the coverage. I'm so tired of them. The only time I have to deal with them is when I have exchange a defected device.. Which happens every time I buy one but it's enough. I pay $90 a month for unlimited data/txt and 450 minutes. So I'm happy about that. Oh yeah, I deal with them when I want control of my device. They don't want me (or anyone) to have it.

The only update I've ever dealt with was last year with my S4 when it upgraded from the MDK baseband. I don't remember the original one, but I remember I lucked out big time and when I ruined my phone and got a new one when I turned it on it basically almost immediately did an OTA to which I put in airplane mode to stop. Now I'm not 100% sure but I don't remember having to click yes or OK for that OTA

But if people have already accepted OTA before now, they are OK, right? Because this exploit is very new so I doubt it would've been fixed before that. The first fix I see for linux was on June 4th and I have no idea how that translates to phone OTAs

Most likely you are correct. The OTA they have been pushing is older so it's likely that the exploit will still work. I wouldn't accept any at all however if you can avoid it. I'd imagine they'll push the patch for this soon.
How do we know if our phones have the update already? I got a new s5 and have had zero Ota pop up since I got it 3 weeks ago.

[Q] unlocked bootloader?

Hello all...
So i am on the Verizon Network (at least until i can get over to T-Mobile) and I am frustrated with Verizon because of their whole locked bootloader business.
I want to get the Galaxy S5 but i won't since its bootloader is locked just like the S4. Well the next hottest phone is out the HTC-One M8. Now i heard a rumor that there is a way to unlock the bootloader on the M8.
Can anyone confirm that this is true for the Verizon M8 HTC-ONE ?
I would really appreciate it any confirmation that anyone can give me.

Thanks a lot.........
Thank you to all who replied. This phone and and the firewater exploit may actually keep me on Verizon a bit longer. I am going to leave Verizon because of how they continue to lock their bootloaders but this is great news!
I wonder why it is that we can unlock this one but the galaxy series phones and others can not be unlocked?
Was it because this bootloader for the HTC m8 was not encrypted or is this due to htc-dev?
Still great news...I hope OmniRom makes a rom for this phone!

I would stay away from T-Mobile, their coverage is horrible...I get full reception where people with T-Mobile have none. You may be able to buy the developer s5 if you really like the s5
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using xda app-developers app
Ya I know that T-Mobile's 4G isn't the same as Verizon. I always have great coverage and speed with verizon but I pay an arm and leg. I pay for 10gb of data a month and that adds up.
I would rather have a phone that I can do whatever I want and now that T-Mobile offers unlimited data on their 4G network I think I am going to have to switch...
