Any news on a Nexus 5 port?

If there was news, wouldn't the link you posted be the best place to find out?

It was declared dead by HP. But there has been a team keeping it alive and they intend on supporting it. Hence these new releases. webOS was really a great OS. Just never got to live long enough to make use of it

There would have to be a Nexus 5 developer willing to take on the work. The original team who made it have a porting guide for developers.

I haven't had a lot of hands on time with the Galaxy Note so I don't know a whole lot about it. I pretty much just want to know if it is a good tablet for school work. I was thinking about getting the Asus Infinity but I work at Best Buy and Samsung has a deal with us where we can get the Galaxy Note for $250 and I think it is a $500 tablet so that seems like a good deal to me...
Should I jump on the deal or get something else?
Wow that's awesome!! Yes yes of course! Thats a crazy steal!
The note 10.1 is absolutely great for school. Go check Samsung's full hands on video on it and the wealth of reviews on its functionalities.
Maybe i can make a short comparison between my Note 10.1 and my Original Asus Transformer TF101. I know the OG TF101 is a previous generation behind but apparently i read somewhere that some components like the I/O used in the Infinity is the same? Correct me if im wrong.
For daily use:
Keyboard- The N10.1 software keyboard is so so much more responsive!! I was very pleasantly surprised upon switching from my TF. Not sure about the Infinity.
Multitasking- You cant beat N10.1 on this. FIrstly, switching between apps is very fast. It doesnt hang or stall. My TF was a little laggier at this. The splitscreens, pop-up play and mini apps are awesome! No complains about that
Browser- Samsung stock browser is well known for being smooth and responsive. Surfing on my N10.1 is definitely a better experience!
S-Pen- Mind blowing note taking and drawing functionalities on N10.1. It honestly feels like a real pen. If you intend to use it for notes in classes, you will constantly appreciate it for how convenient it has made your life. You can easily rip out things you need from webpages and searches and plonk them into your notes. There is a plethora of features that really wowed me.
Speaker- Front facing speakers on the N10.1 really provides great audio for songs and videos.
Anyway, you should check out the thread on Note vs Infinity and the videos on youtube to better associate your actual usage with the tablet. When i first saw the hands on videos by Samsung, I knew i had to get it
the whole GALAXY to NOTE about...counting down from 10 to 1.
Jump on it! Don't think twice.
So it is that good? The Samsung Hands on video does look promising...I guess I will pick it up tomorrow then. Thanks for the insight guys.
BTW: Can you root and are there any good roms out or should I just use stock rom? I have a Galaxy S II with the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM.
Juicy tab. Seriously.
replaced my prime with the note...hands down i love it and dont miss my prime one bit.
Its bomb i just rooted and stock is plenty fast

Dang you! I want root but haven't gotten to it yet. Soon, very soon.
It took like 2 minutes and worked great

Good to know. It's no longer trepidation, it's health. Want to be well so I don't muck things up.
Method I or 2?
It will only get better once the Jellybean OTA is released (soon) and we get all the Note II functionality.
I used 2 because i like having cwm and use triangle away. and also because method one is close to a 1gb file and was taking long compared to the 6mb method 2 file

Best Buy employee's can buy the tablet for $450 and then Samsung has a $200 mail in rebate for Best Buy employee's as well. $250 total savings.
Well, needless to say I was devastated when I lost my Galaxy Nexus last night. Now here I am rocking a Pantech Flex for $50. My life, I hate it.
Anyways, sob story over. Question, would it be possible for CM10 to get ported over for the Flex? It's a pretty capable little phone, and I don't see why it wouldn't handle CM10 well. Thanks y'all
I got this phone yesterday its a well made phone. Better then Samsung

i traded my galaxy s3 for this phone trust me its so much better then the S3 the S3 felt so cheap in the hand anyways no roms for this phone yet u can root using the binary method of rooting google it ive started a thread on XDA to get support in the General forums to see if our pantech community can pick up some speed and put pantech on the map so XDA starts letting us have our own threads

My opinion S5 all de way!!
I think better GALAXY S5
It's totally your choice.
LG G3 has QHD display and a decent battery life, buy this phone if you watch movies, play games and surf a lot. It also has one of the best mobile camera. Lolllipop update has been started rollung on both the phones buy The GalaxyS5 if you want a phone with Samsung legacy, TouchWiz, fingerprint sensor(cheated right) and water resistance(cheated too).
But I will suggest you Nexus 6, since you will get new updates earliest and it also has upgraded chipset:thumbup:

You can also have a look at the One Plus One, it has all what you need. It has the Cyanogen OS, so it is filled with tweaks. It has a decent camera and a good battery life. Plus it is cheaper than its counterparts.
Hit thanks if helped
wondering what the best way to root for my sprint galaxy s5 ? I do not have a working computer right now, and I've already tried towel root, and installing cyanogemod 12.1 from my Sd card, any suggestions ?

Hi everyone !
I actually own a Nexus 5, which I'm using since he's out. The thing is that I'd like to change, I really enjoy this phone, but the main problems for me are photos and battery. And of course the ''need'' to own newer devices.
I looked for some devices and I found some I'm attracted by, these are Samsungs : Note 4 or S5/S6, I don't know.
For now this is the Note 4 that I'd like. So I'm asking you to know if some of you own one of this devices and tell me how you feel with it after a Nexus 5 ?
Also are they as easy as a Nexus 5 to tweak ? (flash rom/kernels/unlock bootloader and root)
I know that they take longer to get the last updates, but I trust in XDA devs who can port everything in a day haha. They're like magicians for me.
And by the way don't be shy to discuss about other phones and advice me, I may discover new phones.
Thanks and have all a nice day [emoji1]
I went from the Nexus 5 to the One plus one and then to the Nexus 6 and now I bought a nexus 5 again. I love my nexus 6 ,and that is and will be my daily driver but for the days when I just want something smaller, the Nexus 5 will be there. I wish I never got rid of it and I found a deal on refurb one with a one full year of service from freedom pop for $200. So I thought why not.
---------- Post added at 03:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't feel a hurry to switch phones and the Nexus 6 is the bomb.
I'd go for a Sony. Probably a Z3 Compact. Is what I'm planning to buy anyway. Very lightweight skin with good battery life, looks and camera ?
I think I'm going for the xperia z4 when it's out next

The Nexus 5 2015. As long as they keep the price close to what the original N5 was.

If it does happen, I'd like for a new N5 to be about twice as thick and have all the extra thickness devoted to battery.

So the rumors go. We'll know more in September if Google follows their normal release pattern. They'll have to file with the FCC by then if they plan on releasing in October/November. Right now it's believed Huawei will be the manufacturer but it's still way to early to now for sure.
Hello, I want an advice, I am thinking of buying an new smartphone. I have searched for various devices online and got stuck between two device One plus one and Nexus 5. Please provide me with your helpful insights " What device I should go for".

The OnePlus One is essentially a Nexus 5.5, apart from the factory OS. It's every bit as easy to root and flash custom ROMs and kernels, if that's what you're in to. If not, CM11S/12S is an improvement on AOSP Android.
That aside, the OPO is a superior device in every way. Better camera, faster processor and GPU, more RAM, and a much longer lasting battery. The main complaints people have had with the Nexus 5 was the mediocre camera and disappointing battery life.
The question is how big of a phone do you want? The OnePlus One is big, the Nexus 5 is relatively compact. If you prefer something more compact, may I suggest an LG G2 instead of the Nexus 5. Same processor, practically the same dimensions, but a bigger screen, much better camera, and far better battery.
Also, remember that the OnePlus Two is soon to be released, and also later this year a new Nexus 5 made by LG. You might want to wait if you're not in desperate need of a new phone.

Well, OK. I think, for that reason, the 1+1 is a little bit better.
Please note, that both phones have no changable battery/MicroSD
I recommend the 1+1 with 64 GB.
