Teclast P98 Air - 9.7" Allwinner A80T Android tablet - Android General

Hello,
I see Teclast P98 Air is now available for international buyers.
Few details:
Allwinner A80T Octa Core(A15+A7 Cortex)CPU,
Android 4.4 OS.
RAM 2GB LPDDR3+ROM 32GB eMMC,
support TF card extension .
9.7 Inch IPS IGZO Retina Screen, 2048*1536(4:3)Resolution, 264ppi .
Features: Dual Cameras(Front 2.0,back 13.0),WIFI,Bluetooth, HDMI,OTG, double speakers and microphone
Built-in 8000mAh Polymer lithium battery.
Does everyone have this tablet already?
Is there any firmware issue like on Onda V989 (with the same processor A80T)?
Is this good choice or will be better to take X98 Air or something else?

I'm ready to buy mine from etotalk I'm just waiting on a true review of the tablet. Drew should have his soon.
Etotalk and banggood have the best price for this tablet so far or you can try some of the resellers on AliExpress.

I've been reading the Teclast forum at bbs.teclast.com and there seems to be similar issues like the Onda v989.

Sad news my delivery is delayed from merimobiels they have informed me that there was a faulty batch (charging problem) and that delivery will now be next week as they are getting new stock.
I know teclast sold 30000 units in the first day hope they can still get one.

I hope for a good battery life
Enviado desde mi GT-I9300 usando Tapatalk 2

Here at last
OK so mine has arrived today
I had merrimobile root it and anti-virus detected 2 threats straight away and removed them
Cause root to fail. Rerooted2 with the X98 root installed new Super user and all seems OK at the moment.
First thoughts
I also have the p98 air so I'm comparing them.
X98 is heavier I think you will find it has a glass screen
P98 screen is not smooth to touch and I have already polished it twice but is not as smooth as the x98.
Will do a battery test once it has drained and recharged a few times I know the x98 battery increased after a week.
It is thinner than the x98 and noticeably so.
So more to come I've only had it out the box for an hour.

Wifi test
OK first test Wifi.
Router is a dlink1750ac
Test range was 10m thru a brick wall into my lounge room
Wifi is impressive both on paper and in real world.
My Asus tf201 gets 1 to1.5mbs download depending how it feels.
P98 air gets 6.75mbs all the time:laugh:
You can see by the attached pics signal is extremely strong
P98 air shows in settings that it gets 5ghz as well as 2.4ghz but it only gets 2.4ghz
But the speed is there.

Speed
Some pics of the benchmark scores.
Interesting results here normal antutu shows over 60000 the one for Chinese tablets
Shows 33000 I've included the quadrant result but I don't use that so just for some of us that might.
Real world performance is very quick went back to my Asus tf201 and though how did I ever use this.
P98 air come with a screen record toggle that I've put to good use I think that shows better how fast it is. I will also add that this is done in standard mode and the speed mode is not activated be a use I think most of us will use the standard mode anyway as you can see by the recording it is fast and no I did not alter the video to make it run faster.

Speed2
Sorry had trouble attaching file

thank you very much for benchmarking and testing and to show a way to root the device!
Can someone say something about teclast's update policy?! - i mean, android L is coming in a few days, will the teclast p98 air updated to android L? or is is there a developer, who want to make a cyanogenmod port for this device?

Hey Guys,
i posted allready i another thread but may its the wrong thread could anybody of you upload the stock build.prop of P98 Air (C6V8) for me. I edited mine and no the device wont boot anymore. Now i want to replace the Broken build.prop. I dont activate USB debugging so i Have no Chance to pull my Backup from Tablet via adb. big thanks for reply an upload!!!

How's the sound quality of this tab? I'm currently thinking of changing from my existing Chuwi V9 (very soft volume) to either the Teclast P98 Air or the Cubetalk 9X but still can't decide which as both Teclast and Cubetalk seemed to be of the same spec. One good thing I see about Cubetalk is that it has 10,000mAh battery as compared to P98's 8,000mAh battery?

i will get mine next week, but here maybe you can extract the build.prop of the original firmware from teclast:
http://www.teclast.com/tools/pad/putcode.html
(the correct ID from the teclast p98 air is necessary (4 letters/numbers) example: Teclast X98 Air ID: C5KN)
and if somebody can tell me how to root the teclast p98 air, then i can extract the build.prop from mine next week

remove volume nav
Got this tablet today, anyone know how to remove the onscreen volume control from navigation bar?

Can one of guys do a video review on functions and smart functions if they are available? Thanks

Hello, quick question for owners, does this P98 have GPS??

Do you succeed with flashing the rom? I have simillar problem. I have no backup. My tablet does not boot. There is only the recovery menu (boot menu or how is it called) available (by pressing power button + volume up). I have no idea how to get it work. Could anyone send me the rom for this tablet and the instruction please?

Welcome Back... We'll need a user section on these over at Slatedroid like we setup for the ZT-180... I believe that this is a 'Malata SMB-A1002' tablet based at least on what comparison we can see from FC pictures... It' seems to match up with similar specs as the 'Advent Vega' tablet so based on some vodeo reviews of that similar tablet this should be a screamer!

well, let's hope this one or a clone will be available for around 299.
That would be a ipad killer.
considering the price of 199 for the A10, the A10T might be available elsewhere for at least 350.
let's wait and see .
Maybe the first post can contain the hardware compatible models?

Well, the ZT-180 was also known as ePad, Apad (A10?) en probably other names.
It would be interesting to have all the variations here, so we spot the most affordable one .

The commenter says it runs 2.1 and it looks a bit inresponsive sometimes, so I wonder if it is the same hardware.

Flat Computing A10T review
A10t Review
I have been using the A10t (engineering model) for over 1 week. Following are my thoughts:
1. This unit is extremely fast. I played a DVD quality movie (full screen), and rotated the tablet, while the vid was playing. It didn't miss a beat.
2. Zooming in/out is extremely smooth and fast.
3. Wifi works great.
4. The display is unreal, (GREAT), beats the ipad
I ran this next to an Ipad, there is no comparison, This IS an Ipad KILLER!!!
It has no drawbacks, that I can find, except posibly the weight, but this is a 10" screen.
This review is short and sweet
I will write a full review in the very near future.
This is NOT vaporware. Those of you that are thinking about cancelling your order, should thing not once, twice, but thrice, before cancelling.
Remember, I am testing an engineering version of this tablet, ROMs are still being worked on. If it works this well in the engineering model, I can't wait to get the
production unit that I ordered.
hi,
So you can confirm it runs Android 2.2 and has flash 10.x running?
I bought the iPad which has blown away my zt-180.
I would not call it an iPad killer untill I see a similar great app stack is developped for Android that uses the screen size properly.
Sounds great, I will definitely check it out.
Please keep us informed!
This page shows the current models :
http://www.androidpads.com/2010/09/...-interpad-hanspree-snappiness-for-around-400/
Did anyone test one yet?
I wonder if battery life is correct, if external gps can be used, 3G dongle and if it is flashable?
Good value for money imho.
I am missing a front camera only.

Hi, As it is new tab it will take some time to get the support on XDA before that we need to find out original OEM of Auxus 01. I suggest check Ainol site, you might find some traces
But i guess its based on 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex A8 so any custom rom for that CPU might work. Also check VeeDee D13...costs only 5000Rs
iBerry Auxus AX01 OEM Info
Hi,
I have bought the Auxus AX01 Tablet and the OEM of what i think is Topwise. This the link to their website.
Cheers
I tried my best buy can't find the OEM. Checking Top wise. VeeDee D13 is ok, but ax 01 has 1GB RAM. D13 has Box chip CPU, same as SWIPE tel. DOn't know how much apps will support box chip, and is it MIPS instruction set?
Box Chip
Well, it's from Allwinner. An updated version. A13. Not MIPS. SO It must support many apps. Top Wise does not looks like AX01 check the specs.

Hardware

Hands on Experience:
Everything was as advertised. The hardware is already mentioned above. The pack contains all standard equipment and manuals except headphone. Although it is a cheap Chinese product but you get all the things you’d get in any other product.
Aesthetics:
Tablet is very light. You instantly get a plastic feel. The buttons are not so soft. They are as hard as an old cassette player’s button. The charger pin is a little long, it does not completely enters the charging port , not that it makes any difference, but it’s always visible.
Screen:
The display is as good as any other budget tablet with same resolution. It feels it’s a little loose, but perhaps it’s cause I am used to Gorilla glass. The digitizer and screen are quiet far. The DIP is 160.
Touchscreen:
It’s pathetic! Yes I said it. It might be cause I have got a bad unit, but when you use it you immediately find out whats the difference between international standard conforming company like Samsung and cheap knockout product.
You have to press really hard as if it was a resistive screen. The touchscreen misses signal, while moving widgets on screen you have to try many a times, the “birds” are released un expectedly, it takes lot of pain to unlock the the device. Although once you get used to pressing hard it does gets a little better, but you’ll always know that the touch screen is bad. I have used Ployer MOMO 9, it’s touch screen is a lot better
Charging:
Takes nearly 4 hours to charge 100%. The problem is, whe you charge with USB, the screen starts to flicker.
Battery:
I used it with wifi ON…3 hours straight, browsing, music, game play, played video files. The device turns off once battery reaches 5%. There is a problem while charging, the indicator jumps from 5% to 15 % in 5 minutes, I wiped battery stats but no change. Normal usgage will give about 4 hours of back up.
Apps:
This tablet has Google play installed by default; most of the apps that I installed are supported. Market shows most of the apps.

but the main problem is the touchscreen.
it is really bad.
I think iberry manufacturer should be notified of this fault and I hope they fix it with a software update.

Guys,
Have you all tried removing the protective plastic film that comes installed on the Tablet?
If no, then there's no wonder your touch screen sensitivity is bad.
Try doing that and then post an update because i don't find any kind of problem with the touchscreen.

Will you please post your review abhishek, it seem our fellow XDAns having some issues with the touchscreen
I removed the Screen Peel off when I got my tab.
but games like angry birds are not working properly(problems with touch)
BTW don't you guys think that our tab also need Attention as the Ax02 is getting on Xda?
I mean our tab is rooted with su binary and busybox
I installed superuser and updated binary and I got the su permissions properly.
I want to update the busybox so as to use lucky patcher but ax02 users say that updating busybox lead to hang at boot problems so I didn't update busybox.
And I want to know that is there any blog from where we can download WVGA games for our tab?
thanks.
Hv lot of questions!
i want to know Among Funbook P300 nd iBerry Auxus as01.. which I should I pick! Nd which one gives better battery nd performance? ax01 comes with 1gb ddr3 ram which is better than fb.. so is it better? nd among em which one takes less time to get fully charged?? more or less the specs r equal.. bt I am concerned about the battery.. nd which one has better screen????
Thanx in advance!
iBerry Auxus AX01 Review
This is a basic hands on review of the Auxus AX01 7" tablet. (The specs of this tablet are included in the first post of this thread)
Hardware:
1. Performance:
This tablet, for me, was a replacement to the HAIPAD M701-R that I had and broke during a careless disassembly process. The specs of this tablet are pretty good for this price point and I can definitely recommend this tablet as a value for money proposition. I did not feel the tablet getting stuck at any point of time during my usage.
2. Display
The touch screen for the initial 1.5 days of my usage felt extremely bad and I was regretting my purchase. But on looking at the user guide, I found that there was a peel off screen protection on the touch screen that needs to be removed. After removal of the peel off protection, the touch screen felt light and responsive. No problems here in this department for me. The display resolution and colour vibrance however is not as crisp as a Sony BRAVIA mobile display for example. The colours seem a bit washed out at times and don’t possess the richness. On close observation, one can clearly see the pixels spread around the screen. The 800X400 resolution does not help in any way for a screen of this size.
3. Other Hardware
The other hardware includes the buttons and ports all around the tablet. The Home, Back, Menu touch sensitive buttons have good amount of response to them but the lack of backlit under the keys were seriously missed here. You need to rely on your senses to approximate the location of the three keys, Very Difficult at times!
The Volume up, Volume Down, power off physical buttons work as expected and have a nice click to them on pressing.
The power in port, micro USB port, HDMI port and 3.5mm port work as expected. As mentioned in an earlier review by pranjal87, the power jack protrudes a little part of itself out of the power port, a problem that most can live with, no loose connections here.
Charging, as pranjal87 mentioned, takes nearly 3-4 hours to charge to 100%. I did not notice the screen flickering though. (Buyers of this tablet must try the 3 battery cycles method to extract the complete battery capacity. (For the first usage, charge to 100>Use till shutdown; Do this for another 2 times)
P.S: Charging the battery does not take as long now after some battery cycling. Who agrees to me on this?
I do not have the mini HDMI cable, so could not check the HDMI functionality of the tablet.
4. Software:
Out of the box, the tablet had a lot essential pre-installed apps. I liked almost all of them. Free memory in the tablet was around ~500MB at all times with various apps running in the background.
5. Is rooting required?
After reading various forums and using the tablet extensively, I felt that there was little or no use rooting this device. There is not a lot of factory bloatware installed. Root would be good if there were any stable customized ROMs and kernels that would enhance the functionality of this tablet.
6. Battery Backup:
Normal usage would let users enjoy the tablet for 3-4 hours. Mid to heavy usage would decrease that time to around 2.5-3.5 hours.
Hope the review was helpful to all.
Any specific questions can be posted if required.
Cheers!

Guys,
Have you all tried removing the protective plastic film that comes installed on the Tablet?
If no, then there's no wonder your touch screen sensitivity is bad.
Try doing that and then post an update because i don't find any kind of problem with the touchscreen.

Even I was confused between Auxus 01 and Funbook
Funbook
Advantage(i didn't used the pro word cuz then you might have confused it with the 10 inch funbook pro worth 9k!!!)
1.Warranty
2.Fully working hardware (specially TOUCH SCREEN)
3.Better 3rd party and xda support
Disadvantage
1.Less RAM
2.Less Battery
GIven a choice, I'd rather buy Funbook now, AUXUS has really depressed me. Other things do not matter utill your touch screen is working. I have given that i.berry seller on ebay a very bad rating ofcourse negative. That guys rathing is falling everyday, mostly cuz of delayed delivery, but there are others who have seen hardware failure. Check out nearly 80 negative review in a month.
On the RAM, I can say you will not find a very huge difference as you would see had you be running a windows pc. Cuz yes, android has a very very bad resource management system.

I want a tablet

HI all, how's everyone? not been back for some time,
I need some help from you guys if possible.
I want a tablet, my partner has an ipad mini, I like it, long battery life, clear and cool to the touch, (ie don't get too warm on long usage)
Can anyone recommend me something?
I have made my own (very brief short list)
Lenovo Yoga
Xiaomi Mipad,
Pipo P8
Fire 7.7
My criteria is this,
7.9-8.9 inch screen
4:3 format.
stable Os,
ideally full android, so not sure if the fire can be rooted.
quad core, and can hold its own when running any intense apps.
won't get too hot when on long usage.
long battery life,
if possible 2Gb ram,
if no MMC expansion then need at least 32Gb
no more than £200, and as per my list, will look into oversea models
I do like the nexus 9, but out of my budget any other suggestions.

Mipad best bang for buck, infact, the price and the specs you get are bloody brilliant! Really really great value, I don't know how Xiaomi get away with it
Its about £230 (some places £180 but + import tax could be more, I say use EBay because you have buyer protection etc) I'm looking into buying the Mipad myself, (I currently have an LG G Pad, heavily mod'd)
The only downside (which is to be expected) is the OS on the Mipad MIUI (on Xiaomi phones Mi2 Mi3 Mi4 its great, but on thus Mipad its half finished, buggy etc.)
But hey I enjoy a challenge
Sent from my LG-V500 using XDA Free mobile app
Lenovo Yoga 8 is very good. Quad-Core, Android 4.2 Operating System, Battery Life – Up to 18 Hours, but if you want to play games with a higher experience, I would recommend you another game tablet (JXD S7800B), 7.0 inches, quad core.

I actually would recommend you the iPad Mini 3, because it's almost matching all your requirements except that it is iOS.
Apple will really ensure that you're requirements will be finished.!

I am interested because I also want an 8" tablet to use mainly as an ebook reader ...

For an EBook type of device I would suggest the Tesco Hudl 2
I know what your thinking.... No way dude!!
But I was surprised at how good this piece of kit is for like £120.
Quad core, Intel, full HD, the casing around the tablet isn't pretty but its great specs for the price.

Not all quad core is good.this machine uses MTK8382 which is a very slow quad core machine.
And It's pretty Energy Hungry,It only could go on up to 10-12Hr.
Also RK3188?No please.A Allwinner A31 could win the RK3188...
2,I would not like to suggest the lenovo one is the warranty service. If your machine have something and you take it to the service centre, the day it fixed you will get "another machine".

Cube i6 Dual OS Android / Windows - 9.7" tablet 2048x1536 px Atom Z3735F 32GB

I'm waiting on a delviery from DHL today, the Cube i6 dual OS. It's very similar to the dual boot Teclast X98 Air 3G and the Onda v919. However this time it's in black! The others you can only get in white. It's lacking HDMI unlike the X98 Air 3G and only comes in 32GB for now. It also has the slight slower Z3735F 1.8ghz CPU. But I have heard good things about cube's build quality so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the Teclast 98 Air 3G and the Onda V919 Air 3G. I'll update this post with an unboxing video, hands on and first impressions. I ordered this from geekbuying.com instead of Ali Express as my sellers on Ali Express didn't seem to have stock and geekbuying.com has paypal.
First impressions:
The build quality of the Cube i6 is a step up from my Onda v919 or Teclast X98 Air 3G, I love the way the microsd card slot and micro sim card tray is done. It's a nice touch. Overall the tablet feels very solid in hand it feels better than the other retina tablets I've owned. There is no sighs of the tablet flexing, it's very solid. Thickness is around 9mm, so a bit thicker than the X98 Air 3G.
Antutu score is 31k, this is just behind the LG G3 according to the chart. The Android rom is really nice, a very stock looking Android rom with no bloat (Well if you count the facebook app) Windows 8.1 Bing actives withotu any issues and Windows everything is working just fine.
Pros:
Best build quality I have seen yet on a Chinese retina iPad air clone.
Mirco sim slot and not a normal sim slot.
Comes in black
Stock Android rom is bloat free and very Nexus like.
GPS, 3G
WiDi / Miracast works.
Battery life as good as my Teclast X98 Air 3G
Cons:
No HDMI port
MHL doesn't seem to be supported
The screen has a slight grain to it as if it has a matte screen under the touch screen glass.
Overall:
I think if your in the market for a dual boot tablet, the Cube i6 shouldn't be overlooked if you can live with the lack of Hdmi output. The price of $209 with the discount coupon is cheaper than the Onda v919 or Teclast X98 Air 3G dual boots.

I'm still leaning towards the teclast, but the 900Mhz 3g would be much better.....although whether that is worth foregoing the hdmi port. Am I also correct in that the entire body is plastic, unlike the teclast.
I'm also interested as to whether this has faster eMMC than the Teclast.

And a video demonstrating how fast it is to switch OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJeXJ8hJW4k&list=UUrI6_31b1OHRE62BHTMYN0Q
So far so good, the build is better than the Onda v919 and the Teclast X98 Air 3g. Very nice how they have done the microsim and microsd card slots. The Android rom is great very much a stock rom.

card issues
Hi. I have my cube i6 air for three days now.
During windows update i do always lost my sd card capability. Card is found in windows device manager, but could not start, error 10. I have tried a lot of things I googled. Nothing except full wipe of windows helps (from windows menu not rom changing). Do you have the same issue ? I have kingston 32g class 10. Android sees card without issue
I wonder if there will be some custom roms and updates.
Disk is separated strangely an i think we can double userspace with customized partitioning. Any advices ?
Anyway, tablet is perfect, i do have better experience like with galaxy tab 2.
Windows come fully activated.
Tablet does not support mhl
Automatic turn off of screen does not work in both OS.

My 64GB sandisk mircosdcard works in it without any issues, have you tired doing a full recovery wipe? Does an SD card work find in Android? If its good in android it has to be a software issue in Windows.
I'm happy with my Cube i6, loving the build quality and having a retina tablet in black instead of white. How do you find the display? Next to my X98 Air 3G or Onda v919, the display is a bit grainy, like it has a matte screen protector on it under the glass.

I though 64gb is not supported. According to technical data of manufacturer.
Android have no issue with card, it is visible and fully operational. I know its a software issue of windows itself. I just do not want to do a full wipe/reset every second day.
Regarding display, its gorgeous. I can compare it to my galaxy tab 2 only. And Galaxy tab 2 looses on every point.
I have rooted android with king root. I would like to have custom recovery. However partiotioning is really crazy here.
Do you know about some GURUs which are taking care about custom recovery and other stuff ?
I think a lot of space can be freed by simple repartitionig of tablet.
cube i6 dual boot: Issues on windows 8.1
Hello,
I have acquired a cube i6 dual boot tablet, and I met several problems on Windows OS: WiFi keys are not preserved when the OS is rebooted, Bluetooth equipments are not detected (in fact the first time I activated the Bluetooth I was able to associate an equipment, but after a reboot it is no more possible). The reseller said me that it is probably a firmware problem and there is no way for the moment to solve it. As nobody is taking about that I would like to know if I'm the only one with these problems or if a fix exist. I made a post on cube web site but I received no answers.
Does someone can help me?
Thanks
Cube i6 air Dual Boot
I have recently bought a cube i6 air dual boot and its a fine machine with customer satisfaction. However I have found few lags in both os:
1. The clock of the windows os does not sync after booting and I had to manually sync it. So got to install a third party soft for auto sync with the internet.
2. It accepts only up to 4GB of pen drives. Any thing greater than 4GB does not connect in both os sides.
3. The Bluetooth devices sync with the android os do not auto connect after boot. They have to be unpaired and re paired for next use. I think need a os update which is not available for the moment.
If any body knows how to correct this please be good enough to help me.
Dual to Single
I think I have decided to get this tablet and I am very curious about the dual boot. The difference in price between single (android) and dual boot is minimal so I am wondering if at some time I decided to just want android, is it possible to just make the tab all android (single boot)?
charging very SLOW. takes forever to full charge. tried a few chargers, all the same. other than this everything works well.
anyone else bought this tablet?
From the videos so far, the build quality seems good. Probably better than x98?

If you received it like that, shouldn't you be contacting the seller about it?
I've just thought..........................have you tried pulling down the notification tray and seeing if there's an icon like this present:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gjo4m5k0axgpq5v/OS Switch.jpg?dl=0
It's the OS Switcher and if it's there, you need to click on it and it will boot from Android to Windows.
If it's not - you need to contact whoever it was that sold it to you for a solution.

This thread will be updated as more info, reviews, unboxings and questions come in.
I've been looking forward to this device. My only problem with it is I haven't seen any decent keyboard docks that aren't just flimsy foldable cases for any of the X98 line.
Its on sale on Tinydeal too.

I will have to buy it from here since aliexpress does not ship to my country.
Heard that they will release a dual boot android/10 down there road.
Any truth to this? if so i will hold tight for that.
*EDIT*
had it open in a tab i hadn't got to yet.

*EDIT2*
People seem to think that the dual boot is just a software flash/upgrade away. And that you wouldn't have to actually buy a different model.
This would make me pull the trigger on it.
What do you guys think?

According to the official Teclast website this is a Windows only tablet. I could not find any mention of dual-boot. Also, at the link I posted earlier it seems to be in Stock, not just pre-order.
cant wait for it to deliver!
hey all i just bought this tablet. I really don't care if it has dual boot on it or not. I have been testing out an emulator called DROID4X and it is absolutely amazing. Its extremely fast once you get it downloaded of course (slow download). I ran a bunch of benchmarks and scored higher than any other system. so the emulator works really good. very stable, and all the games Ive played on it so far work perfectly.
I scored 83,000 on ice storm unlimited.
114,000 on antutu.
8.926 seconds on 10,000,000 pi.
of course I'm running this all on an oc 4790k build but even if the z8500 can do 30% of that ill be fine. If they get dual boot working on it even better. Until then the emulator works perfect. i would score higher but my system isn't optimized to run android. I actually ran android off of boot able USB and it was horribly slow. i might snag another ssd to install it because i don't want to fragment my windows ssd. that's one concern i have about the dual boot. can anyone chime in on how well the system will separate the files for dual boot? what if you need to reinstall windows or reset android?
That's amazing. have you tried PS2 emulators (or gamecube)?
Greetings my friends! Any way to clone dump the eMMC to an external backup drive, USB Flash Drive (Pen drive) or microSD Card?
I need to backup everything including Windows and Android boot partitions, data partitions, recovery partitions before doing anything on the tablet.
Thanks!
