i dont think its possible. on gsm phones you cant, and id consider the n5 a gsm phone, even though its on sprint as well.
I don't have qpst on my computer anymore but I'm going to download it & get my msl & give it a shot. I remember on the evo 3d there was a line of code you had to enter, can't remember where to get qpst to recognize the phone on aosp. Going to look into it.
I have gotten it to work before. There was a thread on here a while back that kind of got you through the steps. It took a few tries but eventually worked.

MetroPCS does not have this phone listed in it's list of flashable phones.
How might I get this working? If I were to get my hands on a MetroPCS ROM for another android device, is it possible I could piece together a working ROM? Or does anyone have any other ideas?
It's currently set up for Sprint (clean ESN for Sprint, not that it matters much for what I'm trying to do).
....... no
one rom for 1 phone doesn't work for another. it requires work to port
Yep, I got that. I was more asking if there is something I can get from an existing metropcs ROM to clue me in onto what changes to make.
If I reset the SPC, upload a metropcs PRL, and I'm assuming change any wap settings to use metropcs's internet... is that enough? Or is there really more to it than that?

the answer is no.
WiMAX isn't even on MetroPCS. It uses LTE. There is just way too much difference in terms of radios and frequencies.

Ahhh. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll activate on Sprint then. Anything to get away from AT&T right now, service in my areas has been horrible for months.
Metropcs nexus S`
Well obviously the 4g portion of it is different.
Now the evdo and supposedly 3g should work on are where metropcs has it.
Its no problem otherwise you can do everything you can with the nexus, just at a slower Internet speed.
You should probably be able to follow a tutorial for a samsung phone.
Is it possible to get an unlocked CDMA Nexus S so that I can use it with Metro PCS. Which brings up another question, would Metro PCS allow me to use the Nexus S on their service?
Technically, the Nexus S as well as the Nexus S 4G are "unlocked" and can be rooted with no special hacks. I would imagine that MetroPCS can develop their own ROM along with a radio and make it available on their site if users choose to do that. I don't believe there is anything in Sprint's contract which would cause a lawsuit for doing that.
The question is if MetroPCS will allow this phone on their network... it's up to them but I don't see why not, as they don't make money on phones anyway (I think)

Why would MetroPCS make a ROM for a phone that is unsupported? They'd have to go to Google to make a compatible phone in the first place.
Why would they spend money on making a ROM for the Nexus S? That just makes no sense. A radio is also not open-sourced. Radios can only be created by Samsung or Google for the Nexus S.
Get your facts straight
Whoever asked the thread said nothing about ROMs. He asked if an unlocked nexus s could be flashed over to metro which it should be able to.

Hi, I want to flash my phone to Verizon prepaid.
I have a Evo Shift I have been using on Boost. The coverage is bad and Verizon is the only provider that gets good coverage to my home. Verizon or Verizon through straight talk, I dont want anyone else PP ect.
The meid is taken care of and I flashed a 01337 prl , so I do not need any help there, but Im having trouble getting it on to Verizon.
Im having trouble getting it on Verizon.
It will not OTA and I cannot get into the Revere donor phone settings because I cannot get the spc/msl.
Ive tried 000000, looking in NVM folder in bit pim, and scaning in dfs, lg download will not recognize it.
Do I need a prepaid specific prl?
Can anyone tell me how to get the spc for VN150 Revere? Will Verizon give it to me?
Is there another very inexpensive prepaid phone that would be better to use?
Ive been searching for anwsers for days, seriously. I found the thread about putting the Evo 4g on $50 Verizon prepaid, but the annoying forum rule of 10 post prevents me from veiwing it.
Thanks
I think the page got pulled. If you search from google cache you can still see it. I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a pantec caper because the post indicated the phone was super easy to pull the data from, but windows 7 does not recognize it. It does not automatically go into diag mode. So I've been googling for a couple days trying to piece together some info.
Im able to connect to the Revere in Windows Xp and Windows 7 by downloading the driver from LG, but there is something weird with the spc. 000000 isnt working and workshop cannot read it.
I did get the Shift to OTA, I had not changed the SPC to 000000 so Verizon would not activate it.
I may not need the Revere SPC if I can just get the 3g settings and activate another phone temporarily then switch back to the Shift so that it sends a new Akey.
Dumb question: How do I search Google cache?

I'm using FireFox. Quick way is to google FLASH EVO TO VERIZON $50 UNLIMITED. Then on the result that you want (~3rd one down), rather than clicking on the link, if you click on the >> Arrow on the right of result to get quick view, at the top of hte quick preview of the page, it will show cached. Click that link.
This is highly against the rules.

So I think I screwed myself....
I was having coverage issues with my phone so I opened an issue with Verzion. My PRL version was something like 150XX and the rep though I should try updating my PRL by dialing *228 and pressing option 2.
Seems harmless enough, done it before on previous phones.
So the update worked and my PRL verison jumped to 54XXX(!).... and now I don't get a 4G LTE connection .
Now I cannot get my PRL back to the 150XX version and *228 doesn't work at all.....gives me a text message saying the "SIM card has already been programmed etc...etc..."
I suppose I will go about hacking on a PRL that works. Any pointers where I can find stock verizon PRL's?
Is forcing PRL on a 4G LTE device possible? I get mixed answers when searching on how to do this.
Or is my SIM just fubar'd now?
Thanks.....

I'd get a new sim. Dialing *228 on a 4G phone should never be done and I don't know why the rep told you to do it. Your sim is probably fried. No biggie.
Yep. Don't dial *228 on a 4G phone. Just get a new SIM.
My phone is rooted... is this going to cause me any hassles/issues if I take it into the store for a new SIM?

Youll be fine with it taking it in rooted. Just tell them the rep told you to dial *228 and it broke your SIM. The instore employees very rarely do any snooping.
I recently bought the nexus off someone and found out it was the one that came from tmobile but was factory sealed. I put in my sprint sim from my htc one but it wouldnt activate to the network. after the setup process it shows that its on sprint but cant make or receive calls or texts( no data). I know the nexus can work for all sprint its just getting them to enter in the IMEI manually which they say they cant do. Id rather not go through the process of reselling and finding on that someone got from sprint so has anyone gone through this issue that got it working?

you have to call them to add your imei into their system. nexus 5 that sprint sells already is in their system, but yours came from tmo. so it manually has to be put into their system. problem is many sprint reps dont know that and will tell you its not sprint compatible. but it is, they just dont know.

Ill have to go to an actual sprint store ( and not the retail owned on near me) to see if they have experience with it. Calling customer service yielded me no help. Would rooting be an easier approach?

If you live near a store - go. But now you know what you're asking g for, calling should be easier.
Not sure how you think root will help? You can't force your details into the sprint system with root.

you usually have to get a tier 2 tech support person to get the IMEI added into their system.
root has nothing to do with adding stuff into their system.

- You don't need root to flash radios
- Radios won't help you connect to sprint
- Dont think there's such a thing as a sprint radio on the n5
- All radios work on sprint.

While there technically is no such thing as a sprint specific Nexus 5, from a practical standpoint there is in that Sprint did not load any of the IMEI numbers into their system from the devices that were sold directly from TMobile. Without the IMEI number in Sprint's system, their frontline agents have no way to activate the phone. As was mentioned in a previous message you have to get elevated high enough within Sprint to get the IMEI number added to the system. I have not personally tried that but have heard that the results are hit and miss.
Starting this October, PagePlus is offering 4G/LTE. Initially, I was assuming that all I need to do is plug in an LTE SIM card and activate account, and all will be peachy. However, it seems that by flashing phone to pageplus when it looks like a 3g device, I have messed up some radio settings, and verizon provisioning doesn't work, phone repeatedly keeps trying to call *228. Contrary to that, the other S3, which I didn't flash does not call at all, but instead pops up message box stating that the phone is being programmed, and after a couple minutes it's online . I do not remember what exactly did I program, it was awhile ago . Pageplus support knows that problem, and they are advising anybody who wants to go LTE to bring up an unflashed phone, saying the flashed one won't work
There are folks on kitty forums who offer remote de-flashing for 30 bucks, but no description what actually they do. Does anyone know what the process is? I can get my phone into QPST/DFS. Anyone knows what to do next?
UPDATE: see post #3 for solution
Can't help you with deflashing, but I will tell you that my local page plus vendor did mine for free and it only took him about 5-10 minutes. Maybe yours would do the same. Just a thought.

I guess it indeed is simple once you get to QPST mode. I used DFS to program, and the only setting I had to change was RuimConfig = RuimOnly (from NV_ONLY), see screenshot attached. Did not work on 4.0 firmware which I tried to use first, but worked fine on 4.2.1 and 4.1.2.
I got a sim card for my phone. All I did was verify that my phone was on RuimOnly (it already was), then I contacted PagePlus to activate my simcard (you're supposed to do this before you put it in your phone, they say) and they remotely programmed the phone, everything went smoothly. I have 4g data now, no "unflashing" required. Pretty easy. :good:
You put it on your phone before, you want this set up, then you can use the phone, so no problem.
Confirmed
I can confirm this works. I switched 2 samsung galaxy note 2 SCH-i605 from 3g to 4g.
The phones were originally flashed over to pageplus using wireless workshop. This puts them on pageplus as 3g phones. They drop the last digit of the MEID so it is a 14 digit code (3g) instead of 15 digit for 4G.
Here's what I did to get 4G LTE working.
Ordered a pageplus SIM card from pageplus
put the simcard in the phone
Used DFS to change RUIM from NV_Only to RUIM_only
Contacted Pageplus on chat and had them change my phone from 3g to 4g. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but I gave them the 15 digit MEID and the SIM ICCID (printed on the sim card you get, or look in settings, about device, details or something like that, you know where to look. ) The customer service rep said that what you need to tell them is you want to change a 3g phone to 4g. I told them it was back to standard firmware just to make them happy. It seems the RUIM changes is all you need.
Voila! Reboot the phone, give it a minute - it connects to 4G and then disconnects and looks like it has failed, but give it a minute and it comes up with 4G LTE and speedtest.net confirms it is blazing fast.
Loving it!
This is only required for a verizon phone that has been flashed in the past to make 3g work on Pageplus. Not needed on contract phones from verizon that are originally 4g.
Happy downloading!

Gift for a friend
hi everyone,
I have a few questions based on my circumstances. I just deactivated a S3 Verizon from PagePlus which was flashed to 3g. I would like to hand my phone off to a friend as he's running a Droid X (!).
1. From what I understand to "unflash" I need to use DFS (cdmatool.com) and set Ruim config to RuimOnly. However, I believe the phone needs to be in QPST mode? I'm not entirely sure how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2. Since I already deactivated the phone, when my friend tries to re-activate on pageplus (with a new SIM), do we need to contact PP and tell them this device is now 4g?
3. Does it matter that I have a custom ROM running 4.3? I don't think so, but would like confirmation.
I really don't want to mess up this gift.
Thanks for any and all advice!

I'm dumb figured it all out except page plus they keep saying I have to go to a dealer I said I am no longer flash but they keep telling to have a dealer manually flash it.....?
Update got everything working once I was in ruim only I called them at told them I had two phones and gave them the full imied as my second phone then the iccid and voila activation was a breeze
