My Charge constantly disconnects the bluetooth connection from my car. The phone and Sync system pair just fine, but after about 2 minutes the bluetooth connection is dropped.
I have tried unchecking the Media sharing in bluetooth options and that doesn't seem to help. I have deleted and re-paired the phone, updated the Sync software but no matter what the phone won't stay connected. This is very frustrating as I do a ton of driving...
Anybody have any suggestions?
I have the same issues with the Charge and and Bluetooth module in my Volkswagen. The only thing that seems to correct the issue is to restart the phone. Unfortunately this only seems to resolve the issue until the next time the phone connects.
Disconnecting Ford SYNC
I am having the same issue. I was planning to update my sync soft ware but as posted that may not help. The only other thing to x do is to flash a new radio update on the phone. Ironically my motorola T505 BT HANDS FREE SPEAKER stays connected 100%.
Hi guys.
I have done a lot of research on this issue. It also occurs to me with my BMW iDrive. The problem is when the phone attempts to download the address book from your phone, it then disconnects... Mine connects then after 2 mins also disconnects when loading the address book. We need to get samsung to realize its not our cars but instead their stupid bluetooth!!!! I've tried and tried to contact them with to no availl. its really frustrating
Its the phonebook when it asks to download phonebook select no this is a known issue apparently. My 2011 Ford fusion is like this. The problem affects most android phones and ios 4. After you do a clean pair without downloading the phonebook it will work flawless and you will love life again.
Similar Problem with Sync
From the what's worth department, I had a similar problem with my Ford Sync. It seems there is an issue with Ford's Sync. The service manager personally worked on the resolution and accidental figured it out.
He removed the battery cable and basically "reset" the Ford's sync cpu. Bingo, Bango, Bingo. Fixed.
My recommendation is to find the fuse for that curcuit, remove it for about 30 seconds and then reinstall.
Fixed my issue.
Bad part, I've had to redo that a couple of times in the last 9 months.
Possible fix try it out
Just jumping back on this thread hope this helps all that are having problems I have cleaned up my phones contacts and my Droid Charge and Ford Sync are playing nice with each other, hope this marriage will last.

Peace!!!
Ha, well I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I'm having the same issue with my Kia. I'll look at my contacts, but I don't have very many so I don't see how it could have dups.
Not downloading the phonebook is not an acceptable answer to me. Kind of cripples the sync capability...

Did you try the reset via the battery disconnect?
Had the same issues.
I removed all of the duplicate contacts from the phone, unpaired and repaired the bluetooth, and removed the phonebook from SYNC...but it still disconnected....the only thing I havent tried is pulling fuse 29 (which is the fuse to reset the sync system...no need to remove the battery cable)....do you really think resetting the system and then repairing will fix the issue?
My Charge pairs and works with my car just fine.
Adding phonebook contacts is impossible- it just hangs there, request for phonebook transfer never pops up on the phone, car sync disconnects the paired phone and nothing else happens, until I cancel out and reconnect the phone, then it works if I dont ask it to transfer contacts...
I ended up manually adding a few fast dials.
I know it is not a problem with car sync- I successfully paired and transfered contacts on that same car from Nexus S, Atrix and iPhone.
Of course my "smart" car wants to keep separate phonebook for each phone....or I'd be all set. Would really appreciate some advice.

I will add my name to the list of Kia Owners having issues as well.
I tried this last night, but it still needs more testing as I only felt like sitting in my car for 15 minutes.
Its possible, for Kias at least, that having contacts that don't have phone #s might be throwing the BT system off. I unchecked the option on my contacts list that allowed contacts with just email addresses to be shown and the BT seemed to stay connected.
Anyone else have this option currently checked?

I'm in contact with an software engineer at Samsung regarding the bluetooth problem. I missed his call, but in his voicemail he explained that this problem is with the car instead of the phone. This is nonsense as the problem remains across multiple car manufacturers with totally different bluetooth equipment.
If you are having a bluetooth problem, please check the main general forum where I will have a post that you can post your car manufacturer and phone model. I will provide this to the engineer so they can work on a eventual fix for our bluetooth problems.
Thanks

Hey agold, do you have the link to the forum post in general to post problems? I cannot find it anywhere! Thanks!
What you can do is go to the market and downlad an app called bluetooth fix.......This helped me...But you have to be rooted to use this app. I have a JEEP that uses U-CONNECT

Looks like the Skyrocket uses the latest and greatest Bluetooth stack which includes the MAP profile. My '11 Ford F-150's Sync system is supposed to connect using MAP and read text messages to me.
My previous phone, an EVO did not have MAP in its Bluetooth so if I tried to use that feature on my truck, it would simply say not available.
Well with the Skyrocket I'm able to send text messages through Sync but when a new one comes in I'm never notified and manually trying to check for new messages just says 0/0 New.
Is there something else that needs enabled on the phone?
CM10 works with my sync as of last night.

Hello,
I'm suffering of unstable bluetooth since jelly bean upgrade(stock HTC european version).
I'm using blootooth in a 2009 Seat Altea (same system as Volksvagen, Audi, Skoda)
bluetooth miss automatic connection or delay it for several minutes when starting to drive.
Disconnect after a call
must wait for a while between 2 calls
Yesterday it started to disconnect every 5 min and reconnect on itself...
Have you guys noticed that? Is it related to JB upgrade?
I've been making the following tests:
reduce the number of contact shown in contact list + clear call logs ==> KO
Deactivate contact sync : doesn't disconnect anymore but a lot of issue during call: audio does not activate. Have to recall...
I will have to try a factory reset before opening a case to HTC....
Here are the last experiments and conclusion I came to:
Reducing the contacts list to 47 contacts is not enough to solve issue. Not same issue as the one when you have too many contacts(I think that the limit is around 150 records but I coudn't find any official info).
By selecting only SIM contact in the stock address book, I get synchonisation working and stable connection.
The tests are difficult because even with the full address book first synchro seems to work and it's possible to phone with no disconnection. But next bluetooth connection does not work(you get connected but when you try to call the phone disconnects).
My conclusion is that one(or more) of my google contact have fields used that are incompatible with Seat system.
I have removed any strange names and now all contacts have alphanumerical names in maximum 2 parts. No more special caracters and 3 or 4 names(surnam, firstname, lastname...)
I have to test again...
This is a common issue, with SKODA, Audi/VW, and BMW models in particular.
Jellybean's bluetooth stack doesn't play nice with these devices, you will have frequent disconnects, and phonebooks will not transfer completely.
Allegedly an update to JB is coming to address this and A2DP bluetooth issues, but for now, if car phone usage is important to you, back to ICS is the only solution.
I reduced active contacts to 27 and now the connection is stable.
I can place and receive phone calls!
I suspect some specific limitation with contact, but can't point out which one now...

I've also had Bluetooth issues since Jelly bean. I'm using a Plantronics Voyager UC+ bluetooth earpiece connected to my OneS.
Each time I get into the lift at work, as well as the WiFi dropping, the Bluetooth drops.
I just chatted with HTC and they told me they "Don't recommend using WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time" - Hah, not impressed with that answer at all.
Keen to hear others experience.
I have a 2013 Honda Accord which has an infotainment system that supports MAP. My phone asks if it wants to give it access, I said yes to all double checked in the settings that all are checked but it still doesn't do anything when someone texts me. It is supposed to Auto Read them and I made sure that setting is on on my car as well. This system should be the same as some Acuras as well.
Some additional info: When I choose select account it says this phone doesn't support this feature.
Same problem here with an aftermarket BT deck.
Has anyone got MAP to work with anything?
Works fine with 2012 BMW
MAP is flawless on my 2012 BMW iDrive system.

Did you do anything special? Or does it just work after connecting it to Bluetooth. I fear this is a Honda issue but that doesn't make much sense since it does support some Android phones that probably had MAP before and the iPhone.
I received a similar prompt asking about the car accessing my calls and another about messages. Accepted both and it just works.
MAP was added to CM 10.2 awhile ago, and it worked the same on my LG Optimus G (basically a Nexus 4).

Doesn't seem to work on my e90 my10 Idrive. It used to work with sense ROM but not with cm 10.2 on my HTC one x

Anyone have any luck getting this to work? I get an envelope icon on my iMid screen, but an error message stating "the connected phone does not support this feature" when it attempt to read out the message. I have a 2014 Accord EX-L.
I'm in the same boat as OP. I've got a 2013 Honda Civic Si and a Nexus 5, and they don't work well together.
From my research on this, I believe this to be a flaw within the Hangouts app, and not a communication problem between the phone and the head unit. After playing around with it for a while (deleting the pairing profiles, repairing the two devices, clearing the system in my car, etc.), I noticed a few things that lead me to this conclusion. After a few connection attempts, the car only successfully read me one message. Afterwards, the text message functionality on my i-MID was selectable, but clicking the enter button wouldn't do anything. Checking my phone, Hangouts was also frozen. The phone was telling me (via ringtone and notification popups) that I was receiving texts, but I couldn't read them until I disabled BT and force closed Hangouts.
Is this a common problem that we are all experiencing? Can any of you confirm or deny these ideas? Also, which messaging app is everyone using (I don't want recommendations, I want to know if this is Hangouts' fault or not)?
Got a 2014 accord same problem. My fix was stopping hangout.. Works fine now I have a nexus 4 running 4.4.4
I think the Honda only uses Sms only and hangout tries to convert it

So did you end up having to use a different SMS app, then? If so, which one worked for you?
I used the stock Sms app that came with the phone. My problem was I saw the text come thru on my accord , but was unable to hear or see the message.... Same problem with my old texts also. I do not use hangout so disabling was not a problem

Ah, well, that's a bit different that the problem I've currently found myself in. For me, the text messaging functionality is permanently disabled in my i-mid display. I'll give getting rid of hangouts a try, though!

I can confirm that my car's Nav system is able to notify me and then read SMS messages from my hangounts app on my N5 without any issues (Toyota). I can also send SMS messags from the car (thru' N5). Works fine, everytime. So, I don't think it is a hangouts issue.

I'm struggling with my Toyota... I have the Non jbl system with Nav. When I click on Bluetooth settings it doesn't give me MAP as an option to check (even tho I granted access to view messages) but I unpaired and repaired a few times and it did give me the map option and it still wouldn't receive my msgs

The message access option should have been there every single time (unlike what you described). I'd suggest deleting the pairing from the phone and the car, and to try again. If the problem persists, try to pair it to another car (Toyota or not) and see if it works with that. If it does, that means it is an issue with your car's system. If it doesn't (and the other car can pair to other phone's with message access properly), it may be an issue with your phone.

Went and messed with my dad's avalon and it worked no problems with his on the first attempt (MAP was there and it asked and was granted access). Going to try to repair one more time with my car before I take it to Toyota.

Kinda glad to hear that it is working ok with another car - but at the same time, I'm not sure how helpful the dealership will be (assuming the problem d1oesn't get resolved by re-pairing) - automotive firmware is basically written in stone - very hard to get them to fix it. They usually keep blaming the phone. Good luck.

Well you were pretty much right. They kept blaming my phone. So annoyed it doesn't work but not the end of the world. Maybe the Nexus 6 has a better shop

I assume you told them that it works with the Avalon - and they stuck with "it is your phone"... UGH! Funny how it works fine with one car, and not with another (even though both cars are made by same manufacturer). Yes, it must be using a different BT stack/hardware/software, but why not use the same one across the board? sheeeeeeeesh
My wife has a 2010 Volvo, and her Galaxy S5 had no problems syncing her phone contacts with her car. With the Pixel, the audio syncs fine for phone calls, but her contacts will not sync. I've tried everything from resyncing, to forcing the contacts to re-upload, but nothing is working. Anyone having similar issues?
Same here

Well, I work with audio and Bluetooth for a carmaker in Brazil (not Volvo). Since there is a 6 years gap between the audio and the Pixel, it is possible that the audio is incompatible with the way that the Pixel (or Android 7.1) manages contacts - which is probably different from the way the Galaxy S5 handles it. Remember that your audio is from 2010 and was developed with Android 2.0 ~ 2.2 in mind. If so, this could be solved by a S/W update by the carmaker or a S/W update on Google part.

This is exactly what I was thinking, but hoping there was a workaround. There likely won't be an update on Volvo's end, but I don't see why the newer phone software isn't backwards compatible.

There's an app called Bluetooth Phonebook which sorted a similar issue out for me on an HTC One M8. It's in the Google Playstore - might be worth a go?
Ive got the exact same issue with a nexus 5 running a csutom 7.1 ROM. Was fine with 6. Its seems as though Android 7.x has broken bluetooth integration.
