Officially no, but supposedly, microsdxc is compatible with microsdhc, so you may be able to use it.

I'm curious if anyone ever tried this. I'm an avid audiobook listener, and have a large collection. It would be a pain to swap cards, so I'd rather have a larger one if it would accept it. I know that Samsung has said this was a SDHC phone, but other "SDHC" phones have had success with the 64GB cards. Anyone have a clue on this?

I have no clue, but you could use the Google Drive app or Google Books to store your collection - that way, you won't need a card.

That would be great, if I had unlimited data or constant access to wifi. I do not have the first, and at work, the wifi is locked with a password only the bosses get. I have a usb wifi adapter on my computer that will share my internet with my ad-hoc enabled devices, but alas, the charge does not have this capability either (unless my endless searching has missed something somewhere). So direct storage and access is my only chance (also, I have limited space on my computer, so storing and listening to them there is not feasible either.

well, you don't have to download all of the files at once - just one at a time. perhaps the night before you can sync the book you want to listen to your phone to have it ready the next day.

YES you absolutely can run the SanDisk 64GB class 10 micro SDXC card in your HD2. The phone does read the full 64GB and can access it all. You do have to reformat it first as it is in exFAT which can't be read. It needs to be formatted in FAT32. The kicker with that if you try to format in your PC, MS has deemed that FAT32 is 32 GB max and if you use the inbuilt format in any version of Windows, it will only format it in exFAT or NTFS. I also tried using a program called SDFormatter but it would not allow me to format in FAT32 either. I ended up using EaseUS Partion Master Home Edition, which is a free program. It worked a charm, and was very fast as well, Then I xxcopy'ed my SD card contents onto the new 64GB card and installed it in my phone. Both my WM 6.5.5 and my SD Android 2.2 are working perfectly, though the Android may be just a bit slower now and then. Both my 32GB and my 64GB are class 10s. I use XXcopy to keep a backup of my SD card on my computer, just in case. I update the backup every couple weeks or if I have updated anything significantly (which seems to be all the time with Android apps). I am running Core Cell Evo v4.1 and CoreDroid v.08. Sorry I was in an HD2 forum trying to post this, and the XDA system told me there were similar messages I should check out first. I was in a rush and it never occurred to me it would look for messages in other forums. I assumed it searched for similar messages in the same forum. My bad, expected the XDA system to be smarter than that. Ditto for deleting a message. Hi, i use a Galaxy S3 and have used many roms but it's not possible to move apps to the sd card, is this the same on the Note? The reason i ask is because i need more than 16GB of storage for all my apps, if it is not possible i will buy the 32GB version if yes i will get the 16GB with a 32GB micro sd.

the same ordeal with the SGS3, so might as well get the 32GB
I believe that it is possible but only if you root your tablet. I am not positive on this so wait for someone else to verify what I am saying. However it seems that the difference between 16gb and 32gb is only $50 and that ain't bad in my opinion.
I have heard it's not possible with ICS. I hope I'm wrong.

Even with ICS you can't do that. Form side it better for fast and safe replacing of sdcards.

Well most (Batman, Amazing Spiderman and so on) games are about 1>2GB in size + many small apps i use + Sygic with maps of countries i have to visit for work on a regular bases (Belgium, The Netherlands, France and Germany), add to that you only get 11.25GB and my S3's memory is almost full.
I will have to wait for the 32GB/3G version it is not available yet here.

No broken apps, the ability is taken out in devices launched with ICS/JB, devices updated to ICS/JB still have the ability to move apps to SD it seems.

There should be no need for an app to be moved to SD. HOWEVER, an app SHOULD be able to have its data relocated - if it can't the app is broken.
No *app* is large enough to justify moving to SD. However, if an app insists on its data being in the same location and can't be moved to external storage, that's a problem.
In fact, most likely, those apps already have their data on the "SD" - the problem is that on devices like this, the internal SD is indistinguishable from /data in terms of storage usage. If the app doesn't support moving data to external SD, that's a broken app.

I know that since ICS the memory layout has changed, in previous (GB) devices you had multiple partitions on the internal SD now this is gone and so is apps (data) to SD.
I'm not so sure about the term "broken apps" because in that case it means all apps are broken cause of all my 100 apps and games there is not a single one that can allocate data anywhere except internal sd. Google messed with this since ICS, it isn't a problem on the Galaxy Nexus or One X because they don't have memory expansion.
After thinking about getting the 32GB with a unknown wait time, i decided to for the 16GB Wifi/3G version i will skip Sygic on the Note since i don't see myself with a tablet on the windshield driving.
This is why I returned my 16gb. I have the 32gb one on the way now. With these Androidand gameloft games, it ddoesn't take long to use up 16gb of memory. Which is really only 11gb out the box. My nova3 alone is like 2gb. So I need larger storage space for all my games n apps. The games are the ones taking up the most space.
But I think the op means moving the data to external SD/memory card. So it'll free up space on internal storage/internal SD..which is really all merged now. So yeah, games store their data to internal SD. But if you have a microsd card installed, there's no way to move the largest part of game data to it to free up space on internal memory. That's my take on moving apps to SD. I know of the older methods. Like on my atrix. Still on froyo. I can move apps from internal storage(which was limited in size) to internal SD(which was larger in size). Or even move it to external. Lmfao I'm confusing myself now.

Yes, there is a way. Use Apps 2 SD and GL to SD apps. I moved a lot of the huge downloads for my games using those apps.

this is one advantage ios has over android. you can actually download the games on your computers and sync later. or you can sync, delete and reinstall later without having to redownload everything (unless there's an update). you can kinda do this in android, but it's not as automated.

I have a 16gb pad, and a 64gb MicroSD split half as fat32 and half as ext4... all my large apps go into the ext4 partition... so even though I have more than 16gb worth of apps/games, my internal storage is almost empty...

Can you possibly explain this process in a bit more detail, and maybe provide some pictures? I'm ordering mine today, but if this is true I'll just save some cash (and heartache with the lack of 32s being available) and purchase the 16+ an SD card.

Oh and another note: how exactly does the storage work on this thing?
I hear all this about internal storage, internal SD and then the external SD (which I assume is the SD card I plugged in myself.

I ordered a new Sandisk 64GB SDcard but after reading many threads on the topic here, I have a question about the format. From what I've read, in order to have the card recognized by CWM and other custom recoveries, it needs to be in Fat32 format rather than exFAT. Many people have suggested that you can use a Windows based 3rd party software to properly format the card, but I don't have a SDcard reader on my PC so I'm not sure what my options are at this point. I tried searching the forums about posts from people in a similar situation (i.e no card reader on PC) but was unable to find anything. Any suggestions or ideas on what I can do to retain the full 64gb capacity and still be compatible with CWM without having access to a SDcard reader? Thanks very much.

Thanks very much for the response. I was afraid that would be the case. I honestly don't know anyone who has access to a SDcard reader, so I might have to just end up returning it to Newegg for a 32gb version instead. Thanks again, I sincerely appreciate the info.

I thought these issues were exclusive to just the 64gb variants.
I actually dug around in my basement and found my old PC tower that has a built in 8 in 1 card reader that supports SDcards. If I can find a way to extract it from the old tower and hook it up to my new one, I may yet find a way. Thanks again for the continued help.

Yea. Only difference between 32 and 64 is don't need a special program for 32. Windows can do it natively. Good luck.

Is there any chance I could stick the 64gb card in my old Droid X, connect it to my PC, and then use the program you suggested to format it to FAT32? I guess I was hoping the phone could act like a SDcard reader of sorts for my PC. Thanks again.

I had a droid x but I'm not sure if it handled a 64gb but if it does you should be able to format it the way you want.I bought a $4 usb micro sd card reader for my SanDisk 64gb card and I hooked it up to my pc usb slot and used a partition program and was able to successfully format it to fat32.Have not had one problem with it being recognized by any Rom or kernel, think it gave me 59gb total after it formatted.

Won't work from phone but go to radio shack and get cheapest one of these you can find. May be able to get with 1GB card. Take pic and show them what you want. Sorry I been busy and didn't think about it. Good call Droid. $12 max.
So I purchased a SDcard reader, hooked it up to my PC, and formatted it with the guiformat program that was recommended earlier in the thread. I set the allocation size to 65536 and left the Quick Format option checked. However, after it finished, both Windows and the S3 only show it as a 32gb card (approximately 27 GB total storage space). Is there another formatting program for Windows or any other ideas you could recommend so I can get the correct storage size (64gb)? Thanks again.

I ordered it directly from Newegg so I don't think the authenticity is an issue, but I have no idea what could've caused this to happen. I encountered the same "hiccup" as you pertaining to the 32 gb issue.
I ended up using a program called EaseUS Partition Master to finally get all back to normal. I wiped my sdxc partition, it did come back with some message that something didn't complete ???, but then I formatted as fat 32, primary partition, and got the entire 64gb back and so far... ( fingers crossed ),.. all seems to be working well.
With the card formatted as exfat, as soon as I got around 8 gb of music, photos, etc.. the card simply would loose its' file structure and just start acting weird. All files would still show up if I pulled the card and put in an sdxc reader on the PC... but my Galaxy S3 never would recover them properly.
This has got to be some kind of "bug" in the phone as you'll see in the other thread this problem is quite common.
For what it's worth.. I seemed to have much better luck transferring large chunks of data with the card in the reader opposed to hooked up while in the phone. ( speeds kept dropping via the phone cable )

Sure... I vaguely remember I had to try to format as NTFS first for some reason before I got it to properly format with entire 64gb fat 32. I spent countless hours trying to work out all the bugs with this card and exfat. Samsung states the Galaxy S3 phone is compatible with it... but there is definitely an issue with file structure once you start loading it up.
Quick update:
I ended up returning my Sandisk 64GB and replaced it with a G.Skill 32GB (Class 10) that was on sale for $22 from Newegg. Surprisingly, it came already formatted as FAT32 so I didn't have to mess around with it to get it working with CWM and custom kernels. Seems to be working great so far, and is plenty fast, so I'm pretty happy with the end result. I guess it might have been nice to have an extra ~30GB, but I mainly stream all my music/video anyways, so I'll have a tough time even filling up this new card.
Thanks again to everyone who gave me their advice and input on trying to get my first SDcard formatted correctly. Even though I wasn't ultimately successful, I sincerely appreciate everyone's time & effort.

There is no easy way of doing it you need to have int-d to do it and even then its not an easy solution
Unfortunately its not Samsung but google which has developed the new version in such a way that you cannot move apps one of the reason being their concept that there should be only one memory and hence there is no sd card slots in nexus devices

You could get a 32GB model.
ive done it the zedomax way i have 64gb iternal now downside of this is wen transfering movies from pc to tab takes ages
I wish I had got the 32 gig model now but I wasn't expecting this problem, I just have to manage my space a bit more proactively. As I want to use my 64 gig card with exfat (to store films over 4 gig) I have do clockwork backups to my internal SD and then copy them across to get the space back. This is far from ideal but I have got used to it now.
I found that using my SD card as internal SD slowed my device to much for my liking.
I had a 64 gig sd card in mine and I noticed that recovery mode would not see that 64 gig card which was a real pain when trying to use different roms. I put my 32 gig card back in and everything is good

32gb version not available in the uk, same for the note 2 unfortunately.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 doesn't currently support the 128 Gb micro sd card. I have tried on several occasions, utilizing software and with also making system changes to no avail. Have you been able to successfully get this to work youself? Please let us know if you have any ideas.

An idea: Have you made sure you formatted FAT32 and set the card as Primary partition?

That's how I was able to get my 64GB to work in all my other devices. Primary partition is one of those things I never thought about..I always just left it as the default "Logical". Figured it out when trying to use my card with the M.O.J.O.
If it works for you, let us know..I'm ready to run to Best Buy and buy one if it does.
2 or more people have reported that it worked with their tap pro 8.4 although it says it only supports 64g

Yes. That is why I asked if anybody has tried it on the Pro 12.2
Just received mine, it worked straight out of the retail packaging. Shows 119 GB free on the Note Pro. Looking at it on a PC, it was formatted FAT32 and had a primary partition on it.

Can someone check if you can use NTFS? Can't copy HD movies larger than 4 GB with FAT32.

I sincerely doubt it will work with anything other than FAT32...Most devices don't. There may be a workaround, but I've not tested it...nor do I really need to as I don't have any large files to worry with.

Cant you just use a compressor and get the video just under 4gb? Ive done that before with full hd movies to pretty good success.

I haven't seen or heard of an Android device that handles NTFS. There might be, but usually problems with large SD cards that can't be read get fixed when they are changed from NTFS to FAT32.
Good to hear that 128gig card will work.
However, it must be a mistake of the software included in the tablet that it recognizes the card as FAT32. First reason is that the specification of FAT32 fs itself says that it supports up to 32gigs. That btw was the reason of initial problems with running 64gig, the only drivers around were propertiary drivers owned by Microsoft, until Samsung decided to include exfat drivers in all of their products (and also made it open source, which allowed developing concurrent fuse driver that offered support for other devices/aosp based roms on samsung, without need of touching the kernel).
If it is 128gig then IT IS NOT FAT32!!! Dont think that is is some variation also, coz Sandisk is a serious company and releasing card, which is formatted in fs that haven't been seen anywhere else, sounds impossible. I think it has to be exFAT (linux fs like ext4 will not be seen in windows by default, so it's not a good choice for default fs too if thinking on earning money on average users, who dont know what even linux is.
Mistake may result from the fact that 128gig cards were not available at all when the firmware was developed, and the programmer assummed somewhere, that the border is still 64gig, so the exfat drivers from kernel works well in general and sd is supported, but the procedures displaying its info go crazy coz the size is bigger than possible, some code fail in a way that was not expected and return wrong info.
If ur rooted, type in terminal:
su -c cat /proc/mounts
and look for type of fs related to your 128gig sd. Info given back by kernel may be more reliable that the one given by an high-level app.
Also, can anyone check what does windows say about fs on the card?
I guess it will say exFAT - and this will be a proper fs which you shall format your sd to, even if the samsung settings shows otherwise.
As i am planning to buy n12.2, would be glad if anyone checks it.

Actually it was his windows desktop computer that shows the sd card as fat32. This was released for mobile devices (many of which don't support exfat). SanDisk must have realized this and formatted accordingly. You can format any size storage in fat32. Just windows (USED to) limit it to 32 storage mediums. Even windows 8 can do it with a built in tool now.

Wonder if it is the windows who limited fat32 or is it a standard specification which were violated by sandisk.

There is a 4GB limit, yes. And yes, in order for this to work in our tablet it must be formatted as FAT32 and set as a Primary partition. If upon purchase it is NOT formatted correctly, there are pieces of software available that can format large disks appropriately. My personal favorite is MiniTool Partition Wizard because it is free.
