The only way to stop the search wheel thing would be to disable every app it wants you to open, only then will it stop opening when you hold it down. Disabling Greenifiy in specific doing that I'm not sure but I don't think there is any other way.

Maybe? I rarely used Greenify, I only reinstalled it again yesterday. Last time I used it before that was months ago soo could be, back then I didn't really open that scroll wheel by mistake much so never noticed lol.

Just checked. It was updated not too long ago. It's a shortcut to hibernate all apps and lock screen. Actually on the M8 that's not a bad thing. Imo it's better than s2s. But I have the Dot View case, so it's useless and annoying.

I was appalled and bummed to wake up today to see my phone and tablet both had ads in the notification bar! The new bread of ad pushing has begun. I had read about it the potential, but never seen it happen.. until now.
TuneIn Radio is pushing ads - in their pro paid app mind you - to the notification bar!
Was a little surprised to see this as well, even if it's not exactly on the same level of the other air push type ads.
There's a "push notifications" toggle (under settings, obviously) that I turned off after seeing this, assuming it will stop it. Will see.

Never seen that setting never checked that setting never seen these ads until today and I have had the app for a while so I wonder if that popped up in one of the last updates they did. I now unchecked it, hope that stops it and that that is related too these kind of "notifications".

Not sure.
Hi,
Got my screen fixed under warranty, thank god!! LG done it as I bought from an independent retailer.
This question happened before i got my screen replaced so it isn't that
It only ever happens when i'm on facebook and then when i press the back button to come out, it closes facebook and chrome is open:S only ever chrome is open and it only ever happens when I close facebook.
Any ideas? is there any way to disable/uninstall chrome (no root) as it doesn't bother me which browser i have, although chrome is my favourite.

I've had Chrome and a few other Google apps disabled as such and no issues to be seen. I'm not sure if an OTA update would require them to enabled or not.
Hi there, anyon knows how to get rid of that message? it's frankly driving me nuts...
Thx
Its in the settings.
I dont have my phone yet(will by tonight) but from the reviews i say there was a setting to add the normal app drawer icon and disable the swipe.

Yes there is. You can either have no drawer or a drawer icon. I'll let you discover how in settings.
Go to settings then display and turn on easy stand
Easy stand? Haven't seen that yet...
I think I didn't explain myself correctly, I want to get rid of the Text message that scrolls from time to time and keep the swipe...
same issue

Hello, I have figured this out after searching and coming up empty. It was annoying me too.
Press and hold on the home screen like you're going to add a widget. Click 'home screen settings'. Click apps button and choose 'show apps button'
The swipe motion will still work to open the apps.
Take care

Use the Samsung members app. Log in and use the device management in there to clean ram and storage. It stopped for me after using that.
Just enable and apply the Apps Button, then disable and apply the Apps Button and it will go away.
use nova launcher,done,never appears.
Just got a new replacement device after a cracked screen and the "swipe up Or down on screen for all apps" won't go away on home screen. Never an issue on my old device. Does anyone have any new details on this besides a work around?
I will go away in a week or so. Mine was driving me nuts and it went away without me doing anything.
Just scroll up or down through the app/home screen 20-30 times in a row and it will go away. It was driving me nuts and I found this discussion. Saw it was going away after a certain amount of time so I scrolled through it a ton and it was gone. Lol.
Reboot
I went through the swiping up and swiping down and it still showed the message after. But then I shut down the phone and powered it on and it was gone. Just like another user mentioned.
It doesn't seem to do anything since an update i got yesterday on ATT. Anyone else have the same issue ?
Before the update, Bixby button was working fine. After the update, button didn't work initially. I tried enabling swipe on homescreen to activate bixby and then tried button ( I had to double click instead of single click). after that, it worked but launching bixby with button became very slow. I'm still using double click to launch and I wish they push out a new update soon.
I'm also on AT&T
I too have this problem. In my case, even two quick presses in succession fails more often than it succeeds.

Are you on AT&T as well ? I have the same problem too. Swipe on home screen works well for now. It takes about a second to load but using button IF I successfully launch bixby, it takes about 4-5 seconds to launch. Before the update, it was instantaneous.
One thing I noticed is if I disable breifing in Bixby cards, performance improved. Try and see if it works
Edit: I can confirm that after disabling breifing, bixby works well.

I am not--T-Mobile here.
Agreed: disabling the 3 cards I had running gets the double press to work reliably. However, doesn't that defeat the purpose of Bixby (what little there is right now)?
Double tab does the trick. Is new after the latest update.

oh yeah I agree. It's just a temp fix till they push update. They introduced this bug after update...so they should fix it soon
I'm also on T-Mobile and having this issue (just got my S8+ yesterday). I was going to return the phone to T-Mobile for are placement until I found this post. Now I know that I have to wait for an update to fix it as a new phone would exhibit the same problem after I did the update.
New update was push out to stop people from remapping bixiby button and stop accidental pressing of it.
So its now a double click.
Best thing is to have online chats with samsung and complain about this. If enough people do it, they will oush out an update to fix it.
Verizon here. I have noticed mine works with double clicking Bixby about 60% of the time, and 30% of the time it works with a single click. Remaining 10% being me left holding the phone staring at the home screen waiting.
The annoying bit is that it's inconsistent, so when a single click decides to work it opens and then immediately closes if I double clicked it.
Double press and wait a second or two before it decides to actually show up ?
What does Stipid mean?
Can get Bixby Remapper from Playstore. It allows remapping even after the update. It's free too.

Uh which one? I see like 4. I'm going to try this on my wife's s8. She wants it to open camera. I disabled all the Bixby crap on my s8+ and I like it that way. Samsung is as bad as the government these days with their cramming stuff down people's throats. Great phones though

The actual one named "Bixby Remapper".
utter waste of time. If this is so far off being ready they should have excluded it and added it to the note 8 or allow it to be mapped to something usable in the meantime.
Worked fine for me in the UK before the update. Now its a double tap with varying degrees of content.
yesterday I got an update on AT&T( mifhr be rhe red tint fix). Post update, bixby button is working fine

A quick access to my calander, imp email, uber, S health.
Things bixby does better than google:
Good integration with work email and events from work calender, twitter also flipboard feed
Things google does better than bixby:
Google on tap and stories related to my previous search. I absolutely love google on tap, especially when tracking packages and good integration with my gmail accounts.
I don't wanna pick one over other. I like and use both of them
I click the Bixby and it takes a few seconds each time to load and refresh, no Google integration (Keep, Waze, etc...) another half baked Samsung idea they will insist on tormenting us with.

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.
If that doesn't get it, modify the appropriate notification setting, lol.
That can be a daunting task but sort of fun because you can streamline your notification settings as you do so.

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...
I figured that out by chance..
It's the edge-compass app

Well, I've checked all that and nothing, I don't even have the compass edge panel. But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
