The only way to stop the search wheel thing would be to disable every app it wants you to open, only then will it stop opening when you hold it down. Disabling Greenifiy in specific doing that I'm not sure but I don't think there is any other way.

Just checked. It was updated not too long ago. It's a shortcut to hibernate all apps and lock screen. Actually on the M8 that's not a bad thing. Imo it's better than s2s. But I have the Dot View case, so it's useless and annoying.
I've ran into this issue and wanted to see what other M8 users are having the same issue. I've tested this on several devices and it only seems to be happening on my daily driver my HTC one M8.
Here is a video of the issue
Hangout keyboard fail: http://youtu.be/vDA5ZSQZBjQ
For anyone that can not watch the video what happens is that when exiting hangouts with the keyboard displayed by pressing the Home key the keyboard stays on screen.
Let me know if any others are seeing the same issue
And if you have other devices at your disposal test on those also, thanks

I've had this happen to me every once in awhile and not just in hangouts. I can however press the back arrow key and it minimizes the keyboard and closes it out.
I have this happen I my Moto X as well

I'm aware pressing the back key is a work around, however it's just that a "work a round" I've reported the issue to Google.

I noticed this right away after updating to 4.4.3. Another bug I have noticed with homescreen is after using the phone app, it has popped back open a few times after going to homescreen.

Myself I love it. I can't go back it blows sense keyboard out of the water an I got a apk I pulled from my phone that has been updated before it was pulled. I can share it if you want to try it.
Was happening to me with Hangouts too. Keyboard always remained after exiting hangouts, doesn't happen with any other messengers.
Hi everyone,
I decided to reflash stock and i'm running into some problems with enabling accessibility services for greenify and pushbullet. Somehow I managed to turn these on, I have then turned pushbullet off with no issues. Trying to re-enable this I get the "Use Pushbullet?" prompt with the cancel and OK buttons. I am unable to click OK... only cancel works.
Does anyone else have this problem? I've reflashed about 3 times now... md5 of image is OK so I just wanted to see if you all can enable and disable accessibility services without any issues.
Thanks

I have this exact same problem with every single app in Accessibility... I threw on Lollipop and have yet to be able to click OK. It doesn't even register as a button. Hopefully someone sees this and has a clue as to what is going on.
I wonder if this is a bug... :S

I doubt it, or at least if it is it's a very small one since I have yet to see anything else about it. You're the first person I've encountered with the same issue, funny how you mention both Greenify and Pushbullet (I have both and I didn't notice the issue until after I tried enabling Greenify)
I can confirm it doesn't work for the Google builtin services either on my phone: Talkback / Switch Access

I've been struggling with this exact issue on both my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 wifi. Flash to stock, setup my account, start the restore process, apps start installing, I wait until either LastPass or AutoVoice are installed and then I can immediately go in and enable accessibility for it. Anything after than and it can't click on the OK button. My theory is that you get one shot at setting whatever applications. It's definitely a bug that not app or hardware specific.

I found the answer for my specific case. It was Lux that was preventing me from enabling accessibility or installing from unknown sources. Sooo many factory resets and reflashing stock/rooting and it was Lux the whole time. Arggg...

I'm going to uninstall LUX and see what happens.

You can just disable it in order to have accessibility settings working again.

Holy guacamole! It was LUX... I simply uninstalled LUX and I was then able to click OK on Accessibility settings. I'll be sending an email to LUX devs in a few minutes.
Although apparently I could just have disabled it... LOL. Either way the devs have been informed

Wow... Thanks for this! it works now.. damn i wiped my phone 3 times :S. Ah well at least battery life is now rocking!
Thanks for finding the root cause! Seems like we're a bunch of people using the same apps.
GOOD GRIEF! This was so annoying. THANK YOU! This was driving me crazy. I am writing this on Jan 7 2015, I dont think the author knows this is an issue. I will write to him/her. Thanks again. On a Nexus 6 5.0.1
Same problem with app called Twilight. Pausing the app allows OK button to register.
Same thing for "good sleep pro". Highly unexpected. Big thanks!

For me it was "Bluelight Filter". Thanks for setting me in the right direction.
Not a Nexus 5 user but...
I still use a Sprint Galaxy Nexus (toroplus) but, it was Lux for me too. The two reasons I didn't think it could have been Lux are, first, after this same issue came to light with the install button on sideloaded apps, they made Lux auto pause on screens where their overlay could cause issues. Second, it's daytime where I am right now. The screen dimming overlay shouldn't be active during the day. Either way, I think I'll need to poke the Lux devs to inform them that their experimental work around still isn't working in the accessibility menu.
Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll just have to remember to disable Lux when I need to perform protected actions.
Thank you! HTC One M8 user, and killing Lux helped!

Are you using any bixby remapping app that uses gesture accessibility? If yes. Then that's it.
Gesture accessibility makes scrolling not smooth.
Try disable all your accessibility.

That is exactly what I'm using. So it's either remap bixby or have weird scrolling?
I think I'll kill the remap app
Very weird though, only happens in the gallery app. No other app.
Find bixby remap app that doesn't use perform gesture accessibility
Example "bixby remapper" the stable mode doesn't use it.
But will have delay/ bixby screen splashing for a second.

in my case ,
i'm using bxActions , to remap Bixby and after reading above post ,i checked my
Gallery app ( scrolling etc ) and its smooth .No weird issues .
(I normally use the 3rd party Piktures app .)
Previously ,when i had scrolling issues etc .
i found that ( in my case) the culprit was Lux ( auto brightness app )
I uninstalled and all is well .

Tried performance mode. It still makes me enable an accessbility option. Still freaks out in the gallery
The culprit ( this is on comfort mode)
Never use any app that ask this accessibility permission..
You'll have stutter scrolling in some apps.
Nope I figured it out. Doesn't matter which mode I use. The second I turn on compatibility mode that says it works for the new update... That's when it bugs out.
Problem is, without compatibility mode bxActions doesn't work

Well, one thing this reminds me of is a more polished rom'd phone. Even with a Nexus 6 the software had some bugs just because software got pushed out so fast.
I played around and for sure it's the launcher, if you install Nova launcher the home button can be configured to work as you describe. The only thing about THAT is no swipe to open google now (which I usually configure to be double tap on the background). Though I'm sticking with the default Launcher3 for now.

^^This - I have this configured in Nova now and it works great.
Try a factory reset without installing any apps during setup. Try the blank slate route. It may be an app that isn't playing well with the last update. If it doesn't work you can always reset and install you apps from backup.
I ended up doing nova with the google companion.
I did not try to reset again to see if it was an app I installed (I do not have many). It has to be a bug with the launcher. What they probably should do is break out the launcher as a separate app for them to be able to update as an app instead of requiring a system update.
With that done that should be it, now that the camera and whitelist app are depreciated.
Same issue here. I've tried to factory reset but it hasn't worked for me. I don't feel like rooting the phone either to fix something that a phone that costs $700 should get correct out of the box...
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
You don't have to root it to use Nova, nor do you have to root do to the companion to get the now integration. All you have to do is sideload the now companion... not sure about how updates work though.
Anyway, at some point this was fixed in the default launcher. I got a RMA phone due to the speaker grill issue, and noticed it worked. Then went back and tried it on my original phone and it was good there too.
