Anyone know where to disable these notifications?
I would still like to see the cards in Google now.. But I don't want these notifications.. Never had them appear before...
Thanks guys!
Sent from my SM-G920F
I would also like to know this. I've had the card notifications disabled for months and just this past week they've been showing up. The option for notifications is still disabled in settings.
I don't want to have to block notifications from the whole app because that would block reminders too right?
This must have to do with an update from Google.
I'm experiencing this as well - seems like it just started a week ago when there was an update. It's extremely frustrating not to be able to disable the notifications of spam (stories, articles, recipes, totally random stuff) and leave things like reminders and whatnot. **sigh** Google why did you do this to me? I really do not need a notification that there is a Chipotle three miles away from me.

Really? Chipotle is the best!
But seriously....These notifications are annoying .. can't find where to disable...

I'm also getting annoyed by these notifications. I guess we don't have a way to shut them off yet?
Go to...Google now> settings> now cards> show notifications! Turn it off, still will get cards in Google now.

Me too -- the first thing I did was check the notification settings for Google Now via Google Settings. I've even tried turning notifications on and then turning them back off. But they keep showing up. Maybe it's a bug and not an intentional feature.
Maybe it's buggy Google since they seemed to have messed up ok Google. I don't get any notifications with that setting off, tried on two phones.

Me three. Ugh!
Don't you hate when the functionality of something changes and they don't default it to the setup that you had before the change?
Surely, when this was released they should give you the option of enabling or staying with what you had?
Of course, that would be the professional way of doing things, sad that it doesn't exist at Google.
I keep getting notifications - two at once - which are just links to nvidia games and geforce now. They happen several times an hour. I think I made the mistake of adding the nvidia customisations widget at some point and since then all hell's been let loose. Widget long since removed but still the notifications come.
Not a lot of info online, a guy on the geforce forums had the same thing and was advised to reboot - I've done so and still get the notifications.
I've even killed off the offending process but still it returns. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.
Edit: I don't have the option of silencing the notifications either sadly.

Same here, dunno how to fix it, i even tried to disable notifications inside nvidia hub app, no luck
Simple: get a Taskmanager, figure out what app causes the notification, then disable or kill it.
Another option, use Greenify.
Disable notifications in the Nvidia Shield Hub app - should be it.
Otherwise, long press the notification(s) to identify the offending app and/or customize options for the notification there (on Nougat, anyhow).

Sadly, already tried all that and nothing works. Notification options are actually greyed out for the app.
Another option, uninstall all updates.

No sadly. I'll have to go direct to Nvidia customer support. We can't be the only ones suffering surely.
Last option: Factory reset.
And stay away from tha updates.
Like in title, my screen, sometimes is being white fors a while(like less than 1 sec),like opening an app, but nothing opens and then phone work fine. What to do, what it is? Is it virus?

I'm getting the same thing, mostly when playing a game. Will flash for a split second. Not sure what's causing it.
I don't think it's a virus tho.
Maybe its problem with system or launcher? I haven't found anything like that on internet or how to slove this
Mine is doing the same thing as well. I think at least for me it's because my RAM is getting close to making out.
Same problem
I have the same problem. Has anyone got any hints at least? It's very annoying and no other phone seems to have it.

I'm having the same issue. Screen goes kinda white for half a second and looks as it would start an app, but then goes back to what app you just had opened.
It is not a constant flickering or flashing, as reported from Samsung and other Devices and which is documented via Videos on the Net.
It would be hard to film it, as I haven't been able to reproduce thus behaviour.
When I play a game (King of Avalon) and when I'm just typing and that issue occurs, the typed text is gone. Luckily it doesn't happen while typing on WhatsApp or other apps with text features.
A while back it was almost gone, but then came back, without me having changed the app Setup.
I will reset the phone and see, if it comes back.
I still think it's an issue brought up from apps that use the GPU a lot.
Have tried different settings the Developer Options from Android (Disable HW-Overlay,...) but it didn't help.
Will report, once I have resetted, but will take a while, until I have time for testing.

Hey, I also had this problem, it helped me change the language in voice search to English and turn off "ok google". I use the phone in a different language and I also had it in voice search.
Hello fellow HTC u11 life friends -
I found this thread by Googling, so hopefully others will find it too. I have also been having this very annoying problem for several weeks. Can't remember when exactly it started. Was it after an Android update?
This problem appears to be related to the Google app settings on the phone, as the previous poster suggested. When I read his post, I went to the Google app settings (Setting --> Apps --> Google) and didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but I noticed that there is a setting called Display over other apps. This was set to "yes" by default, so I changed it to "no". Since I made this change yesterday, I have not had the white screen flash once.
It seems like the Google app is being triggered briefly for whatever reason and then closing. By not allowing the app to display over others, if the app is triggered, you won't get that brief white screen like the app is about to open. At least, that's what I think. Fingers crossed the fix holds. I hope this works for others. Let me know!

Before I call you a genius, I still have to wait a bit (and of course hoping)
I just turned off different things in the Google App "show notification for ***"
In this case *** was for Price Alert, stocks alert, sports alert and so on.
Furthermore I disabled the "display over other Apps" as well.
I could imagine that this latter feature doesn't have to be turned off completely, rather than turning off all those useless alerts for stuff I've never even looked for.
Will try to go the next days to see, if that blinking is gone and if soy trying to activate the feature with almost no alerts in order to determine, what the exact culprit is.
Disabling the feature totally might do it, but if for example some alerts were useful, then it would be nice, if at least they worked out as supposed to.
Will keep you guys posted.
Fingers crossed ^^

Tried this method and so far (1h) no flashes. Sounds reasonable, that Google is trying to send some notices to the screen and that functionality is somehow bugged. I'm fine with turning off ok, Google. Have never used it anyway. [emoji28]

Are you using the built in Camera, or some app?
I got 8.1 too but no changes. Have to admit I'm using Google Cam Port. Might be that, because otherwise I've turned off kinda all notifications, but it's still flashing.
As mentioned earlier, I should do a full wipe and use the built in cam and such, but I don't really like it.
I'll see, when I find the time to wipe and set it up again...

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.

That can be a daunting task but sort of fun because you can streamline your notification settings as you do so.

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...

But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
Since I've had my phone, some notifications just don't come through no matter what I do. WhatsApp will not work unless I wake up my screen and my calender reminders never work unless I happen to be on my phone.
All permissions granted, battery optimization turned off, auto start enabled and no restrictions on these apps. Quite annoying.

Are you on stock Chinese by any chance? Switch to the EU ROM, this will resolve your issue easier than it is to explain every setting needed for some notifications to fully work. Took me ages but I did do it. Then I went EU, no issues, worked straight away.

It is very strange, because WhatsApp is one of the apps whose notifications seems to be reliable.
Gmail is one that I am not 100% sure about. But I feel it is somehow related to the way gmail handle its notification, since I experience similar behaviour on other phones.
Teams and Outlook are 100% notifications rate for me.
Possibly I have set something else in MIUI settings, I have to check everything.
