[Q] Stock-GT-N8000-leaked-KK-Boot.img-CWR-installer Questions - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm just curious
If you flash this file : Stock-GT-N8000-leaked-KK-Boot.img-CWR-installer.zip on a tablet does it permanetly downgrade the bootloader to gt-n8000?
I'm just curious what are the pros and cons on flashing it on an older device like a gt-n8013???
I think its pretty safe to say samsung isn't going to release any newer oem roms for these devices or am I wrong?
Thanks for any help offered.

Flashing this boot.img is the only way I can ever get my n8013 to have WiFi on the new KitKat roms based off of the stock rom.

[Q] Custom ROM

Hello,
I'm really new to modifying phones. I'm switching from Verizon to AT&T, had upgraded to .15, and hadn't root. I bought an old phone with a broken screen and just swapped the screens. The old owner had already rooted the device.
Since I have gotten the Razr Maxx HD, XT926, I have unlocked the boot loader and installed CWM. I'm not sure what the phone currently has loaded on it as it doesn't recognize my current Verizon SIM, however here is the information in about:
System Version: 9.16.6.ST926.Verizon.en.US
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: VANQUISH_BP_1045.711.53.20P
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-ge491d6d
Build Number: 9.8.1Q-62_VQW_MR-2
What I would like to know is what ROM should I flash to? Can I flash to any ROM designed for this phone? I don't have to upgrade in steps like you would with OTA? Additionally would you recommend a stock firmware or custom? If I upgrade to KK or CM would I need to re-unlock the bootloader? I know I'm going to have to unlock the radio for AT&T.
Thanks for the guidance, I really don't know where to start and I've tried several of the tutorials. It just seems that once I start understanding what to do I get introduced to a new basic topic which I know nothing about.
Thanks again,
David

In need of flashing a custom ROM on G930TUVS9CSC1. Any help greatly appreciated.

I've been using Samsung devices with custom ROMs for a while. Sadly my most recent purchase of a S7 obviously came with a locked bootloader and the eBay seller updated it to it's latest G930TUVS9CSC1 firmware.
I've looked around for guides and methods of flashing a custom ROM with very little trustworthy advice and links. I'm hoping someone who has flashed a custom ROM on the v9 bootloader has a method they can share.
The ROM I'd like to flash is this LineageOS build. Hopefully it doesn't affect cell signal and NFC like it did on my Note 3.

Help needed with S7 downgrading from 8.0 to 7.0

Hi all, I'm relatively new to the Android world and seeking help from experts here.
I recently bought a used S7 (SM-G930K), it came with Android 8.0 and I want to downgrade to 7.0.
I tried downgrading using its stock firmware with Odin. Attempted many times but only realized that it can only be downgraded as far as the bootloader version goes.
Think my S7 was on bootloader version 2. So as checked for the available stock firmwares, the "earliest" version 2 was still on Android 8.0 (PDA G930KKKU2ERJ1 and CSC G930KKTC2ERJ1).
Anyone can advise me how to go about downgrading to Android 7.0? Though this S7 may not be my primary phone and there's obviously no warranty, I won't want to brick anything.
Do I have to downgrade the bootloader version to 1.0 first? And how do I do that?
Apologies, do excuse these noob questions, I'm not familiar with many Android terms. Cheers!
Model: S7 SM-G930K (KT Telco)
Android version: 8.0
Baseband version: G930KKKU2ERJ1
Security patch: Oct 1, 2018
Basically, on Samsung phones, once you upgrade your bootloader, they put a lock on it, so you can never downgrade it, for security reasons, of course.
The only thing you can do is flashing custom rom, or stock rom with custom recovery & kernel.

I see, now i understand why..
"Custom roms" - does this mean it's made by users like us? And what does "stock rom with custom recovery & kernel" mean?
Can you point me where can i find these roms for my S7? Is it the same as flashing them on Odin?
Many thanks!
Yes custom ROM's are community made. The kernal is kind of like the foundation that sits beneath the ROM, so you can use the official ROM but run a custom kernal to tweak phone behaviour.
Flashing ROM's involves using TWRP instead of Odin. If you're going down that path I would recommend you read very carefully and educate yourself, instead of just gung ho'ing it. Wouldn't want to brick your device.
It's also worth mentioning while you can flash an older custom ROM via TWRP, that doesn't downgrade your bootloader with it. Having a newer bootloader on an older ROM can cause issues.
Most custom ROM's are also made for G930F, while some also support the G930K you may want to make sure before flashing anything.

Definitely will be more mindful as rooting does involve some kind of risk of bricking my phone.
Wow that's great info, really appreciate you explaining this to me.
Something new I've learnt! :good:

Unlock bootloader/OEM Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Hi All. I have an old tablet that's currently running stock 4.0.4 rom running on it, that I want to breathe some new life into. However, there is no option available to unlock the OEM bootloader under developer options.
Using ODIN, when I try to load any version of TWRP recovery, it fails and soft bricks the device. I have to then reflash the stock image.
Does anyone know a way to get around this? I was thinking maybe the option to unlock the bootloader would be available in an older stock rom version, but I've not been able to find any older versions other than 4.0.4. If anyone has any ideas, any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
EDIT: Please ignore. I was using the wrong version of TWRP; I was trying to use GT-P5XXX image on the GT-P7500. Please don't make the same mistake as me.

Help updating Insignia Tablet NS-14T004

I'm really hoping someone here can help me with this. I was recently given an Insignia Tablet model NS-14T004.When I got it charged, and began looking at the apps, etc it was running, I started trying to update it, only to find out about it's history with Best Buy, being discontinued by Insignia, not supported for updates, etc. It currently has Android 4.2.2 OS, so is it possible for me to update it to run a more modern version, and if so, can I get some help with it, please? Thank you
The steps you've to do
Check tablet's bootloader is unlockable
If unlockable then find a Custom Recovery suitable to your tablet
If found then find a Custom ROM suitable to your tablet
If found
Unlock booloader
Flash Custom Recovery
Flash Custom ROM
Thanks, I'll start looking that stuff over now
