[Q] Galaxy S2 Not Registered on Network After Root - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from my girlfriend which was locked to T-Mobile (it had been a contract phone). My contract is on Orange so I flashed an insecure kernel in Odin and used Samsung Quick Root to root the phone. I booted it up and managed to unlock (though i'm now not sure if this was a full unlock or some kind of soft-unlock, I don't know if that's even a thing - I used an app called "Galaxy S Unlock"). Anyway I tried sending a text just to make sure and it was fine. I decided to install CyanogenMod (latest version on the website), I did and all was fine. Then I was prompted to update on my phone so I did, halfway through it crashed and - being an idiot - I turned off the phone. After that I could only get as far as the Samsung logo when trying to boot and after that it would return to a black screen.
I did some Googling and decided to flash back to a stock ROM which worked and the phone booted fine. Now however, the phone asks me for the SIM unlock code (making me think this was a soft-unlock) yet I still get bars of signal but if I try to text or call I get the "Not Registered on Network" error. I've tried adding Orange's APN manually but it won't save, everytime I press save and go back into the APN it's blank. I've also tried to select the network using the "Select automatically" as well as trying both Orange and T-Mobile in the network options and simply get an "Unable to connect. Try Later" error. I've also tried to update through the phone and it says it's upto date. I'm currently running Android 4.1.2. The Baseand Version is I9100BVLS4 and the Kernel Version is 3.0.31-889555 with Build Number JZO54K.I9100XWLSY.
Could anyone give me any advice as to what to do? Thanks!

The Galaxy S unlocker mods the EFS folder and putting it back to stock might have messed up something. I would re-root and re-do the unlock. hope you have a copy of the original EFS partition before you started or that the app made a backup for you in case...

[Q] Pls help... htc one keeps rebooting, wont boot any custom rom...

Hello everyone
I'm very new here so if this is not a good place for this question pls let me know. I need help. I have htc one, it's from Croatian telco provider Vip , but when I check the version, it says it's m7wls (sprint version, which is crazy as it's a us network and this phone was bought in croatia). If I check imei it's ok and the same as in Croatian provider's warranty. Hboot is 1.44, it has an unlocked bootloader, but it is rebooting all the time and it says under htc logo "build for development purposes only...) I can go to bootloader, can only put twrp that is for m7wls, not international version, and I can put cwm any version. When I adb push or sideload any custom rom (I tried many) it either says corrupt file, or when I try to install android revolution hd 31.6 it seems as if it installed, but then when it goes back to recovery, and i try to reboot, phone says it has no root access and if I want to install it. I have tried couple of times to install superSU through recovery, so it shouldn't be an issue. When it reboots then it goes straight to bootloader, like i havent installed new rom at all, and there is no more recovery, I have to flash it again. I tried viper rom, cyanogenmod two versions, tried both installing international and sprint version install of ARHD 31.6 and in the end the only rom that booted (not really) was bad boyz rom for sprint, which came to lock screen of the phone, but when I swipe to unlock it is shows white screen with htc logo. very weird. I can use volume controls, screen on/off and on long press it shows options to restart, reset etc. But it just doesn't work. Also it seems it doesnt recognize the sim card.
I think it is not really sprint version, it is impossible, it must have been some mistake. I bought the phone from a guy for 240 eur, which was cheap, and the phone is not even used, just at home, it has a month old warranty. So it's a good buy, but I gotta make it work now. This guy says he has tried to update it (official update) and it just started rebooting and didnt work any more. Then he gave it to some friend who apparently has a workshop for repairs of cell phones, but he had a phone for 2 weeks and said he didnt have time to work on it. But it seems like someone played with it.
Is it possible that it says that its m7wls version when it really isnt? Maybe that guy installed a kernel or a firmware or sth that changes this? Is it possible? Any help would be appreciated.
All the best,
Domagoj

[Q] Network unlock code / Koodo stock firmware

After failing at installing a new ROM, I tried to restore my phone to complete stock and now I'm having more issues. Upon booting the phone, I get prompted with a screen asking for a SIM Network unlock pin. I am able to dismiss this screen by clicking the "dismiss" button and continue using my phone normally, but it refuses to connect to any network. I've tried using different SIM cards in the phone, but it is still not working. Furthermore, I am unable to find a koodo version of my firmware, because the only site that supposedly distributes those (the droid developers website) is down. If any one could find a mirror for a download or a solution, feel free to post it!
Many thanks!

Help with network programming

I have a sprint gs5, i rooted it, flashed a modded verizon rom for verizons gs5. Boots up no problem. A couple processes stopping occationally. But otherwise seems to be working. I put my sim card in and it said the phone was activated and features updated. But its not my phone number. Its the phone number of the previous owner. I am trying to work on the programming but the programming codes you dial in the phone app do not seem to function. Just calls and says the accountcant be verified. Pretty sure its still sprints network talking as well. I did go try to add apn's but after hitting save they dont show on the list.
Sprint samsung gs5 with verizon rom and philz recovery flashed with ODIN
Rom currently installed: OptimalROM_15_odex-edition_bigbot96
Was not rooted or modified before i got the device.
Also the tutorials said thAt su would disable knox but that never popped up in my experience.
Boots i to recovery fine. Boots into system fine. Does not seem to accept programming codes. (Maybe they are differentforverizon?)
Safestrap apk installed but is blank when opened other thAn title bar.
Busybox and su both installed and work. Titanium bu installed and works.
I havent tried to contact verizon about anything yet.
Can anyone help me with the network programming?
I have qpst on my pc and the phone is detected. Reading about the spc and stuff like that but according to the pc the spc is all zeros already, i read that they are different on non vzw devices.
Maybe in over my head, just getting frustrated.
Will try to get some screenshots of the about phone details asap
If the phone is still using the previous owner's phone number, start by doing a factory reset in recovery. Then let us know what happens after it boots into Android.

New g955u won't connect to Verizon

I'm about ready to throw this phone out the window, and hoping someone here can help me out...
My wife ordered a never used g955u off of ebay. It came with Oreo installed. It had the CRE9 firmware installed. We are on Page Plus (Verizon reseller). We put in her SIM card, went through setup, but we are not able to make phone calls. The SIM card works fine on her old phone. I reset the network settings to no avail.
I did a network search and selected Verizon Wireless, but it times out and gives the error :
No Service
Selected network (Verizon Wireless) not available
I talked to Page Plus, and everything looks fine on their end, they say it's something in the phone.
I suspect it's something in the radio settings, but I'm locked out of the service menu. I factory reset the phone, and that didn't fix it either.
I've been down several rabbit holes since then.
I tried to follow the steps in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/carrier-switch-snapdragon-t3615680 hoping that if they can make non-verizon phones work on verizon, then it can make a verizon phone work on verizon. I also tried to root the phone using this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...root-g955u-g955u1-snapdragon-sampwnd-t3658911 hoping to get access to the service menu.
But evertime I tried to flash any of the necessary binaries, I got Fail! (auth) and the phone gave the error:
sw rev check fail : [boot]Fused 3 > Binary 1
or
sw rev check fail : [boot]Fused 2 > Binary 1
Turns out, you can't downgrade. And all the binaries in the tutorials are now downgrades.
Somehow in all this, I managed to flash the phone to CRD4. I tried flashing back to CRE9, but regular Odin fails without telling me what the error is, and Comsy Odin gives a model dismatch fail.
I tried connecting the phone to Kies, but it gives me the error "only the device owner can connect to kies" even though I'm running Kies as administrator.
I've ordered a new SIM card from PP, just in case that fixes it, but I'm losing hope here. If anyone can help me out here, I'd really appreciate it. If there's anymore information you need, let me know and I'll post it.

Yeah, that's what I had figured out. I'm still not sure what direction I need to go in to find a fix for this.

So I know Odin 3.13 at least. But other than that with Oreo I don't know
I wanted to stop by and mention I am having nearly the identical issues. I bought a used Verizon Galaxy S8 from somebody today, and even ensured that the IMEI was supported by Page Plus beforehand. I tried using an existing, working SIM card of mine from Page Plus but found that it did not work automatically as it should have. After going through four customer service representatives, I was told that my phone is somehow not compatible. Still, I think I may have a slightly different situation going on... I was told it would not work because there is no "LTE/CDMA" option in the "Network Mode" setting. Instead, upon inserting the existing SIM into the new phone, my Network Mode setting only has access to "LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)", "3G/2G (auto connect)", "3g Only", "2G Only" options.
When I put the SIM back into my working phone, it gives me the correct network options. For some reason, this new phone is not allowing me to connect to the Verizon network at all.
You've taken a lot more steps than I have... I figured it could be an issue with Android Oreo, but I am really not looking to delve into the degrading process. I will also order a new SIM and see if that magically fixes things, but it's starting to look like a lost cause.
Let me know if you figure something out - you are the ONLY person online I have found with my identical (or near identical) issues. If you happen to know any way around the exact issue I'm having with the Network Mode, that would be insanely cool.

Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973F) doesn't register to network

I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973F).
At first glance the phone was in excelent shape. The SIM Card was connecting to the mobile network, and calls, internet connection, etc was OK.
But then, I found out that the phone had been rooted. Probably, by the seller. In pannic, I rushed to unroot flashing the stock Rom.
Here what I did:
1- Forgot to check my precisly CSC code and assumed ZTA (cause I'm from Brazil, and the phone is from carrier "Claro")
2- Downloaded the stock rom using Frija
3- Using Odin 3.14.1 flashed the device.
The previous rooted system was on Android 10 and One UI 2.5. With this new rom went to Android 11 and One UI 3.0.
The problem:
The phone recognizes the SIM Card. But it simply doesn't connect to the network. When I try to make a call it says: " not registered on network"
The phone DO recgonizes the SIM Card. On the SIM Card Manager shows my carrier name (Vivo) and my phone number. Also, the SIM app is showing on the app list.
Things I tried:
Rebooting the phone
Changin the SIM Slot
Testing the SIM on another device to ensure it was working
Checked if the IMEI wasn't missing/undefined. It is not, the IMEI appears to be untouched
Checked if the IMEI had been blacklisted. It's not.
Flashed SEVERAL different stock ROMS with different CSC (ZTO, ZTA, ZVV)
Try to manually select the network. This also throws an error saying "error while searching for network"
I'm really desperate and don't know what to do anymore.
No one have a clue either? :C
Look inside here:
How to Fix 'Not Registered on Network' on Android
Here is how to fix 'Not Registered On Network' error on Android. Mostly error occurs on Samsung phones, but this solution works for all android phones.
www.android-recovery.net
Wow,
This is exactly like my S10 right now.
At first, all is good, the signal was great, all working well, except cant connect to samsung pass and samsung health because it was root.
then i brought to sellular shop service, to flash the phone.
Then, “not registered to network” happened. The signal ok, the phone able to read dual simcard, but “emergency call only” and if i try to search network manually, “error while searching for network”
And the sellular shop service have no idea how to fix after they reflashed and try to fix it for several days.
Have you found any solution to fix your pho?
pls advice…

So, were you able to find a solution for this problem? I also bought a Note 9 N960F/DS recently and found out it was actually a N960N model that was changed to N960F/DS. So I did exactly what you did, I flashed the original stock rom, N960N, but now phone will not connect to network. I also did hard reset, reflash other stock roms, nothing changed. Anybody with insight should please give us some pointers.
