If you search in the CM11 thread, you'll find this is a common issue. Do you have a d-link router? It seems like there might be a common issue on d-link routers, although I have a cisco/linksys router and I experience the same issue sometimes.
It appears to be an issue with CM11 and Gummy ROMs. It might even be an issue across all AOSP-based ROMs but I don't know for sure.

Hey there, so I have been having this problem where I flash the CM9 alpha ROMs and the newly released AOKP ROM in the dev section, but when I try to set up my Wifi on the ROMs it wont connect. I enter in the password and hit connect but after that nothing happens. My WiFi is set up as WEP and I have had no problems connecting with any of the the sense based roms (Currently running Cleanrom DE).
I have even tried switching to WPA but it made no difference.
My internet service provider is Clear and I have a modem + wifi router in one.
This is what I use http://www.clear.com/support/download/modem/clear-modem-with-wi-fi.
Any and all help will be much appreciated. If there is any other info someone needs just let me know.
EDIT: OK, I am actually going to relock my bootloader, flash the stock ruu, then reroot and unlock and flash the roms again and see if that works.
EDIT 2: Well, that didn't work. The only other thing I can think of is that my router is 2.5ghz. I will test this tonight when I go to my cousins house and try to connect to his router.
Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but my issue has not been resolved yet.
Well it seems that my router is the problem. The thing is that its from clearwire and is a modem and router in one device. It also is 2.5Ghz. It seems that the aosp roms don't connect to it because of that frequency. Does anyone know of a work around or fix that will allow aosp roms to connect to the 2.5ghz router.

Cant tell you how LONG I have been waiting for a response to this because I have the same exact problem. Oh btw wifi will connect on cm10 based roms as well as sense based roms.
Yeah, it works fine on sense based rooms but I haven't tried cm10 yet. I hope someone can help out.

Is your wifi protected by a password? WEP, WPA2, or anything?
Its on wep. I have even tried it on wpa2 and non encrypted.

ive been posting this bug ive found all over but no one seems to have any ideas on how to fix it as it doesn't appear to effect many users. the issue is on any aosp based rom: cm10, aokp, slimbean, liquid..etc i get wifi errors such as wps failed and my router is out of range. this happens until i toggle off wifi and turn it back on. i always do fresh, clean install with full wipes before i flash the rom & gapps. ive tried everything including all different kernels to no avail. i know my router is ok because once i go back to any ics rom or jellywiz the wifi works fine. to me this sounds like a aosp kernel or wifi driver issue. how can i get this reported or looked into? as of now i know this effects myself and one other user ive talked to and he is stumped as well. i have a netgear wireless g router in case anybody wondered, current firmware as well. the devs ive reported this too seem to be ignoring my posts.
i seriously want to use one of the aosp roms but i cannot right now and it's driving me mad. any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
ill also add i tried changing to different security settings on my router to no avail.
What router does this other user use? The one you said has the same issues. Similar to yours?
I don't use my phone on wifi very often so I dunno, but if he has one similar to yours I would say there's a problem with that router liking AOSP ROMs.
Its a netgear wireless g. He said he has a wireless n. If its the router, why does every ics rom work? Never heard of a router disliking aosp lol. Im wondering if the problem is using the newest clockworkmod touch recovery? Im just trying to troubleshoot. Ive tried everything else tbh. Never had a phone puke when trying aosp and i mean any aosp rom.
Doesnt anyone else use netgear routers?

Someone fixed wifi with DNS server change. Don't know if it was same problem.
Speaking of dns i do use opendns on my pc. Just darn weird ics doesnt act up for me.
ICS has code made directly for our device/radios because that's what comes on our phones. Jelly bean, which all AOSP ROMs are based from, doesn't have any code made directly for ours. All the developers have ported it over to our devices and it will be imperfect until Verizon jelly bean comes out/gets leaked.

Yeah thats what i figured. Just sucks i cannot use aosp in the meantime. Shocked more people are not having the same issue.
Got rid of opendns on my router and still a no go. Any other ideas guys? I feel left out not being able to use aosp. Gonna suck if i have to wait until the jb ota comes.
found a fix for anyone having issues with the wifi saying out of range or wps failed. go into your router settings and change your ssid name and password, restart your router and connect on your phone. worked great for me. don't now why this would happen on aosp roms but im glad i got it solved.
this can be closed now.
Never had this problem.

The best thing you can do is keep this in mind and help the next guys that posts about WiFi issues like yours. That would be huge if you did that.

I've seen a lot of people say that simply rebooting their router fixed wifi issues on their phone. Are you sure the reboot alone wasnt responsible for fixing the issue?
well the issue is back with a vengeance, nothing seems to work for me now.
Same here

I've been a lurker for a while and created this account just to let you know I have the same issues but with a d2spr (sprint gs3). Only aosp roms and I've been through both slim bean and liquidsmooth rc9. It's definitely the phone, not the routers. With my phone, it only happens when I reboot for any reason. If I rebooted with wifi on, my toggles will still indicate that wifi is still on after the boot, but it will not receive any signal. Any networks that do show up in available networks state "out of range". Even if you were just connected to that network before the reboot and you are still in range it will state "out of range". Not until you toggle the wifi off, then back on, everything seems to correct itself until next boot. It has to be the wifi toggle in settings though and not the one on any widgets or any added to the notification tray. Weird. Any solutions on your end yet? Looks like it's been a few days without any updates.
I had this is issue and setting a static ip on my phone fixed it, it was a dhcp issue.
I'm experiencing some weird problem over wifi. No matters where I'm connected it always works just for a while (less than 30 minutes). It happens at my place, work, and also at my girlfriend's place. Even at my university (over VPN) it happens and freaks me out.
I believe it could be a wireless driver problem but I'm not sure. I'm currently using MR1 AOKP ROM (last version) but It also happened on ARHD 5.0 and 7.0 ROM versions.
Sometimes my workaround is disconnect and connect again, also turn off and on the Wi-fi, and also using VPN. But it just works for a while (every few minutes).
Can somebody help me with this?
Are someone experiencing something like this?
Regards,

But I don't want to use the stock rom. I prefer AOKPs. There's some way to update or flash just the wireless driver?

Every couple of minutes my N5 disassociates then reassociates itself with my router (BT HomeHub 4). Have tried wifi fixer app, setting static ips and replacing router and changing wifi channels . Other devices connected to router are fine so can only assume issues lie with the phone given the wider wifi issues around connecting to saved wifi spots and download speeds etc. I don't have these problems just these constant drop outs and reconnections. Am running CM nightlies and Elemental-X kernel. What would give the best hope of a fix. New Rom/kernel/radio/data wipe or all four? Or does my problem lie with the router? Any advice welcome as it is really irritating - particularly as I get no mobile service at home! Thanks

i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Nexus 5 has been plagued with this wifi issue since i believe 4.4.1. Hopes are that google will release 4.4.3 with a fix for the issue, but no word yet. As of right now there is no fix for the wifi problem :/
Thanks. Did a wipe and moved from CM to AICP. Still got the issue so help us 4.4.3, you're our only hope.

plagued? i have never had a problem with wifi.
what wifi type are you using? N? G? AC?
Try the common WiFi work arounds: setting your phone to only use 2.4Ghz (instead of 5Ghz or Auto) and toggling off the mobile data setting when using WiFi.
Well 4.4.3 seems to have made absolutely no difference.
Maybe it's faulty. If you've already tried another router there's not much else it can be. Try and get it repaired or swapped out.
I've not had a homehub 4, but never had Nexus specific issues with my HH 3 or 5.

I apologize for the bad title,
When I connect to my Mi Band via BT, my WiFi stops functioning. If I disable BT, WiFi starts working, but then I can't connect to BT. I'm on 5.0.2, and I had CM12, and I also tried Slim Rom, but the issue persisted across both ROMs.
Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this?

There were some discussions about this some weeks ago, it seems like it's a general issue with our phone and nobody found a solution. It is happening on KK as well not only on LP. You could try a Sense ROM but I think it's the same. Only ROM that could properly work might be an official one but that's Android 4.1.2 and Sense 4 at best

Ohh, that's fine then. I thought it was just me. I tried searching on here, Googling it, and came up with practically nothing.
I have the same problem .
