Wrong hardware, won't happen.
...and Ubuntu ?
What about Mac OS? I would be very happy if our device could run Mac OS.

Ubuntu is possible, but technically difficult unless you know linux inside and out. There are a few guides out there.
OS X isn't possible either.

hello everyone
today i see some People install Ubuntu on Android phone!
http://androlinux.com/android-ubuntu-development/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-android/
chacha can do?
my English is bad
Yep, it should work. I installed Ubuntu with LXDE on a Desire at work 2 days ago. The main problem is that you will use VNC which lags the hell out of the phone and ubuntu.

chacha can do this?
The hardware on both phones is quite similar. So yeah, ChaCha should be able to do this.
can i know the reason why u need to install ubuntu on ur mobile phone?
Because ubuntu is not a Mobile OS, it is designed to run in Desktop or Server platform and it use more resource than a Mobile.
If u miss Terminal, Android have it - Terminal mobile (without help)
If u only want to show the posibility of Android phone, u can try Vmwre on Android, i saw my friend install and run sucessfully Windows 7 on his Android ^^
I didn't know that there is vmware for android

can i ask is abuntu only work on linux? window 7 64bit can?
Its Ubuntu.. and it is Linux.. another type of operating system.. you can only 'run' it on win if u have it installed on like VM ware or similar..

you should research a tiny, just a tiny bit more before asking this kind of question... Until then, I don't think you should be touching this OS. The typo is killing me too. Like the above poster said, Ubuntu is linux. Windows 7 has nothing to do with it, however you can run linux on windows or mac using some applications such as virtualbox/vm ware/parallels, I have no idea how you came to your question. IIRC Ubuntu can be run on android but don't ask me how. I didn't bother
How did I compile cyanogenmod 10 for our fit on windows 7/8 platform? Which software needed? Any idea devs?

You can use either vmware to load up linux, or "dual boot" using wubi...
Or a much more traditional, pure dual boot windows and ubuntu...
Any of the 3 methods would do...
They are in order of ease and risk of setup, with vmware being the easiest and least risky...
You need a linux platform (preferably ubuntu, for beginners)...
Compilation and source sync tasks cannot take place on windows...
Thanks.

Not really not, maybe if you could say what phone its possible, but it would have to have good enough spec to run, then have a unlocked boot loader and be able to boot a different OS, then you would need drivers for that devices hardware
not possible according to me...
even if its possible then you'll need to unlock the bootloader ..which might be tedious ..!

Unfortunately you can't just "install" Android as you would Linux, Windows or even Mac OS X. When manufacturers compile Android (or their forks of such), they compile it with very specific drivers that are appropriate only for the specific device it's built for.
Some devices like the HTC HD2 got amazing Android ports simply because said device is so similar to many other Android devices and most of the hardware drivers for WiFi, bluetooth, etc already existed.
Is there a specific phone you are wanting to port Android to?

You can't install Windows or Mac OS X on a PHONE. Not even in la-la land.
Okay.....can we install windows OS in android????
Sent from my GT-S7562 using xda premium
No you can't, because Windows Mobile or Windows Phone are not Open Source.
I have two phones with thee same performance and same CPU but one of them has WM and the other one Android.
There is no way to install WM on Android.
But some developers find a way to install android on some wm devices.

Hi Guys
I want to know can we change the OS of an android device.
Android ----->> Windows or any other OS and vice-versa. Like we do in our PC or Laptop. Or do i have to use a particular device to achieve the task
Thanks in advance
You usually can't.
If you want to mess with it, Google it and see who's done what with what device.
Ultimately it would be really cool if someone was able to develop some sort of boot-loader that allows you choose your OS at boot. Going between Android and Firefox/Ubuntu would be awesome (and seem more likely?)
yes its possible you can run wxp or ubuntu in your android phone, but dont run smooth...watch:

It depends entirely on which phone, specifically. Remember, you need drivers for the various hardware components. Many drivers are closed-source, and we're at the mercy of whoever owns the code to the drivers.
