Linux or Windows for rom cooking

what would be easier to develop roms on???

I think, there is no "optimized" system for developing. You can use what you want and develop in every system.
I think, that windows is a good choice, because you can use Cygwin or a virtual machine like VMWare or Virtualbox to use a linux system if necassary.

Officially, you should have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. That's the OS Google has made "official" for Android and Kernel development. The instructions *may* work on 12.04 LTS but it is unsupported as of now.
It is, however, a PITA to simply install Oracle's JDK on Ubuntu. It can be done, but now without some research and effort.
Unofficially, you should still use Linux, because all the toolchain is easier to get and install on Linux.
IMHO, choose a Linux distro you are confortable with and start from there.

I think I would be more personal preference on the tools you want to use.

If you truly want to learn true from development then you should go with a Linux distro as that is the way to truly work with source code

Linux distro for arm

So everyone wants ubuntu on their tf201, myself included. But currently, the only arm platform is on nexus 7, or by vnc. Would it not be easier to try and port an already existing arm based Linux, such as fedora 17 or puppy linux? All we would need would is to have a working kernel, am I correct?

Xoom another OS

HI. I want to know if there is any way to change the OS of the Xoom. I want to install Linux or Windows 8 (I prefer Linux) but I want to run as primary and only OS on Xoom. No virtual machine, no remote desktop. Just to install it on harddrive. Is anything like that?

Not even Ubuntu? Ubuntu runs everywhere! His kernel can recognize even microwave! I like very much the idea of Ubuntu on my tablet instead Android

Not going to happen. You can partially run Ubuntu Touch. But it's far from completely working.

Hm... If we can't run ubuntu, what we can? why android works and ubuntu not, having the same kernel? Do I understand right, that drivers are in kernel and kernel have "public" api?
i have xoom in disposal. i want to use xoom as dev platform on linux. i want to have access to wifi, bluetooth, camera, sensors built in, etc. is it possible, or can you suggest some other kind of such platform? i don't really need 3d acceleration for example. or will it be much simpler to develop on ndk for android?

[Q] Chromebook

I'm not sure this is really the place to put my question, so apologies in advance.
Do Chromebooks run Windows applications? ie, Right now, I have a Mac right now, and can't run things like Odin. Can you on Chromebooks?

Chromebooks cannot run Windows applications as Chromebooks run Chrome OS which is based on linux. If you want to run Odin and other Windows applications you can use Virtualbox to run Windows on your Mac in a virtual machine and then run the applications you want. On a sidenote you can also use Heimdal on your Mac to perform the same functions as Odin.

Thought on how to run windows .exe on android

OK I don't no how to do this and is sounds VERY sketchy but my first thought was that android is Linux so just use wine but I have no clue on how to do that, u would probably have to bypass the java VM and run from Linux. Or u could run Linux in android with Linux deploy and then install in that then install the exe. But with all that is running it might get slow.

I dont think it is possible... Android wont support .Exe files

It only would be possible if you find a way how to run WINDOWS OS on your device

I heard that its possible to run outdated window version on Android like windows 98 etc.
So try to find on google if it works
You will be able to run small dos programs i think

What about using Linux deploy and running wine inside of that
