Anyone else having issues where the Google Calendar isn't syncing? In my account settings, the option to sync Google Calendar isn't even listed. I've got App Data, Hangouts, People Details, etc, but nothing about the Calendar. I use the Google Calendar app exclusively, never tried the LG one and hated the Samsung one on my previous phone. I am currently rooted.
Already tried:
Removing Google Calendar and reinstalling.
Removing Google account and re-adding.
Rebooted
Shut down and powered back on
Works here. Did you select it as one of the calendars to sync?

It's not an option for me to select. There is no calendar in the Account Settings and in the Calendar app itself, it is not listed. When I click add calendar, it just sits there with a spinning wheel and does nothing.
Works fine for me.
When you go under your Google Account settings uncheck the Google Calendar sync then recheck it...... that helps sometime.
As was already mentioned twice, that option does not exist for me on my phone. There is no option under Google Account settings to even select the calendar as something to sync. It's just not there at all.
I believe I had a similar problem a few years ago and the issue was the calendar was corrupted in the account. I think the solution was to log into gmail via a browser and copy or make a new calendar. Google search the issue and you should be able to get more exact instructions.

I think you can get it back by adding a second "dummy" account and letting it sync. It's recommended to be on data when doing so.

Well, I ended up doing the full factory unroot process (basic rebuild from factory ROM file). Irritating as it is, my Google calendar now syncs. I'm not sure what was causing it not to, but there it is.

This happens to me sometimes. I usually just backout of messages, and go back in and it works fine. Hasn't hapened for a few days though.
Happens to me ALL the time...
Yeah from my searching it's been happening to all of us at one point or another. I usually delete my facebook account from the phone and re-add them. Pics come back.
Here is the fix - you probably ran permission fix in CWM. This is one of the results...
Go into Applications - Manage applications
Go to ALL applications tab
Scroll down to Contacts Storage and click it.
Clear its data
Scroll down to Market
Clear data
Open market - accept agreement
Resync your contacts. This only erases the picture cache not your numbers. It gets corrupted when you run permission checks in CWM.
I had this same problem, it wasn't storing the picture right in the SMS app, and other apps like LauncherPro weren't able to pull any of the contact pictures. I also had it not syncing my Facebook picture with my local contact (which I find annoying).
What I did is added the Facebook for HTC Sense account, and let this sync. When I installed the FB app I told it to not sync anything.
Now everything is working great.
Well my problem was due to the cwr and cuz I was saving contact to the phone and not to Google ! How can I have saving to Google default

Second of all, don't ever save your contacts on your phone, that's what google sync is for. When you start restoring saved contacts and letting google sync run, you're creating a huge mess.
In your case I would clean up the contacts on google, then wipe your phone (not restoring any contacts saved on the phone) so that everything you have on google is what you have on the phone.
I did this a while back, and have been happy ever since.

Absolutely agree with you. After I rooted, i dont know what I did, but after i rooted, all my facebook contacts ended up on my phone. )And no, I didnt tell the facebook app to sync all) I think i added the google account and facebook accounts too fast and then hosed it up when it brought up suggested linked contacts. I just went to Google contacts, cleaned what i didnt want, made some changes to other contacts, cleared contact storage data, and had them all back how i like less than 2 minutes later. and i still had facebook for htc sense setup and it had everybody synced in about 5 minutes. been perfect ever since.
Hi guys,
I've answered the issue in the subject below. PLEASE do not factory reset your phones.
A similar answer has been posted in Google help forums.
----------------------------------
The reason why your factory resets work and after that, you skip any other account information and key in only your google account first is simple.
The first time the picasa upload is invoked, it parses your accounts list for account information to use. If any other accounts are in there, for example, motoblur, htc sense... perhaps even facebook(which was the case in my situation), it won't work anymore.
Solution?
Dont need to factory reset.
1.) Go to your accounts list and remove ALL other types of accounts there and only leave your primary google account there. I also suggest killing all apps using task manager cept those you've ignored(like droidwall etc).
2.) Open gallery and attempt to upload a picture via picasa, you should now see that it's able to show in the drop down list, all your albums.
3.) After a successful upload, which will happen because of steps 1 and 2, go to your account information list and add back your other accounts(facebook, whatsapp and whatever else).
Now you've got picasa uploads working permanently. Youtube should also work automatically(although i never had a youtube problem because my youtube account used in the app is diff from my primary google account used on the phone and for picasa).
Hello. Thanks. I tried your method and it actually worked. However, when I re-added my other accounts, the problem re-occurred. I am currently using Picasa tool for pic uploads and the browser for youtube uploads. Any ideas on how to solve this. I works perfectly with my Galaxy S II.

it works! only problem is that once i install the account again the problem continues!
I am having this issue when Dropbox is in my "accounts" list.
I was experiencing the issue, removed all accounts but gmail and was able to send to picasa, added them all back after and again i was unable to.
I changed the email used for facebook to another different than the gmail one and i was able to upload to picasa again.
It seems the issue is with sync accounts sharing the same email/login as gmail.

I had the problem with dropbox. Couldn't upload things to Picasa.
Changed my dropbox email address login (which was the same as my google account email) and voila... everything works now as it should!
Thanks jsolares!
Same account name
Thx for this!
I removed endomodo account, which had same name (using google account) as account used for picasa upload and it works.
So basic advice is to remove/change name of all accounts which have same name as your google account.
Nowadays, facebook account in my xperia neo V with ISC is causing that problem. When I sync it with my FB account, im unable to upload pics to picasa. THAT sucks.
LinkedIn App is the problem
I have a Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.4
I removed all the account and repeated an upload after adding each account.
Right after adding LinkedIn account, the upload started to fail. Removed it and tried again, not surprisingly, it works.
Added twitter, added another google account, etc. No issues.
Ok, let's try again... then it fails. Again, remove the LinkedIn app, it works.
So the problem is the linked in account.
Thanks. it worked
actually it didnt, it stopped working after I added facebook and skype
Please google... Fix this fast!

Not true. As soon as you add your other accounts back the Picasa upload is broken once again. My research says it has to do with your other accounts having the same login credentials as your Google account. As a test, change your accounts in the sync section to an email address other than your Gmail account email address and you should be working properly. This is a band-aid fix however and it's something that Google needs to address as this should NOT be a conflict. Everyone complain to Google for an actual fix to this bug.

A search has not fully answered my question. After having to factory reset today, I noticed my calendar (I input from the phone itself) did not sync with google calendar and back things up. I lost prior three weeks and next two weeks of appts. After looking through settings of the calendar app and the phone itself and messing with it, it still doesn't sync. Is there something missing? I noticed some others in the search had similar problems, but couldn't tell if they were the same as mine or not. Thanks!
stupid question but under your Gmail account you have calendar set to sync right? What happens when you tap the sync icon, does it sync or error out?

Yes the calendar is set to sync, when I sync it says it does. But again, if I check google calendar elsewhere, it hasn't changed.
Make sure you have your google calendar selected when adding events. The phone has its own calendar as well as all your google candidates that you have permission to write with. Perhaps you were writing to the phone's calendar instead of your google one?

Thanks, yeah I unchecked every car account excpet my google calendar and it still doesn't sync. Will see if replacement devcie does the same.
Ok so I uninstalled Google calendar app, (it was just installed from Play-store) and I got a com.google.calendar issue I didn't read it in time.
Now my all of my events are not syncing with my calendar on my phone. I tried re-installing latest google apps, no avail. I reinstalled google calendar from playstore no cigar. If I post a new event on google calander it will show up but none of the previous events I posted. I'm talking 100 or so events, appointments, tasks etc.
It is syncing fine on my tablet so not a google issue, account is set to sync calender, google calendar is selected to show in the app.
I'm lost any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Seems as though when I edit an event it then shows up on my phone. Weird.
did you try clearing your app data/cache?
Go into settings>apps>all and find Google Services Framework. Clear data and reboot. Your calendar should clear itself up in a few minutes.

Is anyone having trouble with the Google Calendar (from the Play Store, updated on 11/20) since upgrading to 4.4? Whenever I install the Google Calendar from the Play Store it stops the default Moto X calendar from working and neither the Google Calendar or the Stock Calendar work when it is installed.

the "stock" moto X calendar is the "old" Android calendar. why they don't merge when you install the google calendar is beyond me. i had both operational (at the same time) in 4.2.2 and ended up disabling the android calendar. they functionally identical, but only one is updated in the market.
I been wondering about this also. Hopefully this has been fixed in 4.4. It's amazing how Motorola missed this.

With 4.2.2 I was able to successfully "disable" the AOSP calendar under the App settings (unrooted, stock) and the Play Store Calendar would still function fine. After the Kit Kat update, when I disable AOSP calendar, it breaks the Play Store version. This is really annoying because if I leave them both installed, besides the clumsy look of having 2 calendars in the app drawer, I get 2 separate notifications. I suppose I could try disabling notifications on the AOSP version... but anyone have other suggestions or similar experience?
This is odd, on my Verizon moto x DE I just have one calendar app and always have, both on 4.2.2 and the new 4.4. This must only be a problem for other carriers?

Are you sure you've disabled android calendar and NOT calendar storage? I had the android calendar disabled prior to 4.4 and it remained disabled after the update and my Google calendar works fine.

I have a vzw retail version. If you check the market for Google Calendar, you will find that it is not installed. The Moto X comes with the Android calendar and not the Google calendar which is what is odd to me.

I definitely only disabled the android calendar. I have no idea what's up with it. I also wish they had merged (i.e. deleted) the old calendar when they sent the OTA.

You can re-enable in under Settings->Apps->Disabled tab (far right)
Yes this is very strange, why would they leave the lesser of 2 still hanging around....especially in Kitkat.
Also, make sure under settings, Google, that calender sync is still check marked.
I've had this problem on multiple builds and it drove me crazy. To fix it go to Settings > Apps > All and select Calendar Storage, then clear data. Either calendar should work without issue after doing this.
Here is how I got it to work. Disable Calender in settings>apps>all. Next go to Calender Storage in settings>apps>all. Force stop Calender Storage and clear data. After that install the Google Calender from the play store if you haven't already. Finally, reboot and it should sync with your Google accounts.

When I did it I already had Google Calendar installed from the Play Store and I hadn't disabled the stock Calendar. I've also done it with the stock Calendar removed and only the Google Calendar from the Play Store installed and it worked.
I don't think that disabling the stock Calendar before clearing Calendar Storage data or rebooting afterwards is necessary - at least it wasn't for me, but I never tried it with only the stock calendar installed (I hate the stock calendar!). You might need to go to your account sync settings and uncheck + recheck the Calendar sync to force a sync, but this should happen on its own regardless.
