[Q] Device Administrator Password - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA community,
Im pretty new with this, ive been using my Nexus 5 since January, everything is fine until today, I installed a lockscreen app called AcDisplay, i cant seem to activate it, its asking me to allow it under Device Administrators (Settings> Security) but when it try im being asked to enter a pin code, I dont know if I set a pin code or if I did i cant seem to remember. I tried my lockscreen pincode but its not accepting it. Is there a way to reset the pin? I never had issues with this before, I got an Airdroid app and I can activate it before under the same settings but now Android Device Manager is the only app allowed. Please help me. Im running a customer ROM called Paranoid Saber Droid. Thanks in advance!

I never had trouble giving administrator access to apps on stock rooted with unlocked boot loader so its probably a problem with the ROM, try contacting paranoid saber droid developers and see if any other people have the same problem

[Q] CM Lockscreen Error

I apologize in advance because it seems as if this question has been asked before. I just received my Oneplus One a week ago. As someone brand new to android, I have been using it just as it came. I didn't root it or unlock the bootloader. Today, when changing the wallpaper, I got the error message: "Unfortunately, CM lockscreen has stopped working." I've rebooted the phone countless times to no avail. The message won't go away and the phone is unusable. I've read through this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061
to try to solve the problem, but it is foreign to me. Is there a way to factory reset the device without having an unlocked bootloader? I tried Android Device Manager, but it didn't work. If there is some kind of beginner's guide that could help me understand how to fix this that would be great.
Again, sorry if this has been asked repeatedly. I'm just stuck, and don't know where to go from here.
Same issue.

I have the same thing happening. Just started today. Their site isn't working and there are no numbers to call. I have no idea what to do. Let me know if you figure it out and I will you.
If at all possible go into settings, lock screen, and disable custom lock screen. This should stop the error you are getting.

Does this mean that when custom lockscreen is disabled, there is no risk to change the wallpaper into a "cropped" picture or random photo ?

[Q] spirit rom 4.4.4 resetting my default settings?

Hi there, I'm not too sure where to post this, I'm new here. I had downloaded the spirit ROM for my galaxy s3 and loved it. It's awesome and I love all the features...one problem though. Whenever I restart the phone it resets all my defualts...like my default messenging app, it would continue to reset my launcher (until I disabled all the others) and for my Cerberus anti theft app. This is a bit of an issue as I have device administrative options that keep being reset. It's a pain in the ass...I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to keep my default settings and enjoy this amazing ROM at the same time. Thanks for your insight!

Did you perform a full wipe before flashing the rom?
Not used any backups?
Just flash it again and if the error persists, ask in the rom hread for help.
BTW a really great and totally stable rom for S3 is CandyKAT
***SOLVED***

So it turns out my Cerberus App was conflicting with the SPIRIT ROM. I found that whenever I tried to have the app automatically take a photo the phone would restart (I assume because the software isn't compatible with that function of Cerberus) and reset the defaults of the App and turning off the Administration function. I didn't realize that I had the app set up to automatically take a photo of someone if they got the password wrong more than twice....see where this is going? this explains the random resets, and the resetting of the defaults! after turning off that function of Cerberus the problem has not persisted since!
Thank you all so much for your help!!
PS I will also try out that CandyKat ROM

[Completed] [Q] No SIM card after CM downloader update :c

I have a SPH-L720 from Sprint, it was running the 4.4.2 stock rom, the phone was unlucked and working under Movistar here in Mexico (i dont have idea of the method used for unlock the phone).
So, yesterday i rooted the phone without problems, installed de CWM recovery, made a backup of my stock rom, wiped data and cache and installed the cm-12.1-20150413-OPTIMIZED-jflte ROM (from this tutorial tinyulr .com/ooqye9s ), the install completed, i started the phone with no problems, proceeded to install the Gapps, and the phone was working good, my network and data worked (had internet, could make calls and send sms), but the phone drained the battery too quick and the camara had some issues, same thing with the dialer (i wasnt able to hang up a call, the red button didn't anything).
So i decided to download the CM Downloader app, search for an update and the app downloaded the "cm-12.1-20150625-NIGHTLY-jfltespr" ROM (i didn't saw or knew about the "JFLTESPR" part), the phone rebooted and installed the update, tha camera and the dialer problem disapeared but the phone didn't recognize the network anymore, it says "No SIM card". i tried to install the cm-12.1-20150413-OPTIMIZED-jflte ROM again, tried to restore the backup of my stock rom, but nothing works, my network s not working and i dont know what to do.
Please help :c
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Check your apn settings. They probably are not set up correctly for your carrier. Go to settings, wireless and networks, more, cellure networks, access point names. Google yourcarriername apn. You can usually find the correct settings there.

It doesnt let me change my apn because the phone is not attached to a network :/ y think i relocked my phone for sprint, and maybe trying to unlockit again it will work, but again, im new at this and i dont have idea of how to do it
Well, you might have to return your device to stock and start all over using Odin. But first see your device's specific forum here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint. All and specifically ask your question here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374543. They are the experts on your device and will be off more help than I.

Settings App crashes every time I Try to change screen lock option.

Hi
Recently I've unlocked my Z5's bootloader and rooted it.
I installed Paranoid android from the thread in the forum, everything was working fine, even the fingerprint sensor was working quite ok.
after a day I wanted to switch the locking option. so i wouldn't use the fingerprint, and only swipe to unlock the phone.
After i changed the settings the app crashed (it changed successfully to swipe instead of using fingerprint)
Now the result is that every time I try to change this specific setting (Screen Lock) the app asks me for my pin, I type it and the settings app crash.
I tried to restart, Clean cheche and uninstalling some google apps. nothing helps
Thank you for the help!

So obviously it happened because I am no longer stock, But as my experience goes, I know people may have stumbled upon the same problem in their past, and maybe know a solution that will work for me.
I do not want to go back to stock, Because Sony's Stock is ****, serious **** full for bloatware that you cannot remove and battery life that makes you cry.
Your message was not helpful, but thanks for trying
It most likely is a problem with the ROM installed on your device, as you already performed wipes and the problem persists. Try reporting the problem to the rom dev or if its that important, try a different rom for now
Good luck

Device managed by admin unable to set up google account [pixel 2]

Got this second hand google pixel 2 from a seller yesterday while setting up and connected to internet .until I started receiving a notification saying "Device managed by admin - Automatically resetting soon." When I tap on it, it gives me an error saying "Device setup keeps stopping". I checked the phone's IMEI but it doesn't classify as lost/stolen. If I try to factory reset the phone, it asks me for a "@google.com" adress. My question is, should I be worried? Is there any way to fix this?
You basically got a phone from a student who sold it to make some money and this is the property of a school. You could try to flash the whole OS again, but the choice is up to you
i can reflash the OS but i guess , the imei is saved in the portal of the school/company , so when i connect to internet it will again show the same message.
Just try it, maybe it's just a software solution
Ok thanks
Will clear the current image and install factory image
Hi I unlocked the boot loader and download the latest factory image how to clear the current system image from the phone in fastboot?
I forgot the command to wipe the system image.

Device managed by admin — Automatically resetting soon — Google Pixel
Different stories from the internet for the same issue.
medium.com
solved it and published the article
I guess the shorter version is to just set it up offline and turn on usb debugging from the settings.
I don't think you even have how to proceed entering the work email by providing a simple gmail.
Anyhow,
This is what I've tried and done and it works great on Android 11 as long as there is no factory restet.
But this does not work on Android 12.
Do you have any solution for that?
Thank you!

the above solution worked for 11 and 12
normal Gmail account you can add quickly before the phone gives this error. Like within 1 minute after resetting the phone
I also got a pixel 3 XL phone with this issue as it accepted only google.com email and said it was managed by IT Admin, and I got this post and few others on this topic, followed the instructions given with my phone, I got a success on the last window. and my current android version is 12.
sannanthetraveller,I wanted to ask what should be followed now to setup the phone so to avoid this issue coming up again.
and any other suggestions while using the phone, whether to disable anything like auto update check or?
Please let know.
