[Q] Bluetooth always fails with sending files - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know why is this happening. I can't send files to others or to my laptop because every single time it keeps failing, even despite pairing the devices.
This has been happening with every single android phone I owned (HTC HD2, Galaxy Nexus, and now Nexus 5). What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I just checked and it doesn't even discover the laptop while the laptop can discover my N5. Of course, visibility is set to "on" on both devices.

Touchscreen Problem and Intermittent Sync Problems

After a little over two months my Treo (unbranded, UK purchased) suddenly seems to have been struck down with a number of issues that others have reported. I've obviously been lucky until now!
Unresponsive Touchscreen
Firstly, I've become affected by the "unresponsive screen" problem. It seemed intermittent at first, and I thought it was just slow performace, but now it seems much the same as has been reported by others.
After a soft reset the screen seems to repond to the first touch, but then after that it fails to repond correctly. I say that it doesn't repond correctly because it does actually seem to repond to touch, but it just doesn;t register the selection. So a touch on the screen will cause the keyboard to light up, but the input doesn't seem to be passed to whatever application is open.
I've tried the "Remove the battery and put it in the fridge" trick, and this does seem to work, but only momentarily (as reported by many others). What I can't figure out is whether there has ever been any resolution to this. The thread on the Palm suport forum has posts from a few people who have had replacement models shipped, but since this goes back to April I was kind of hoping that it might have been fixed by now!
Intermittent Sync/Sync Failure
The other problem I've now got is a problem syncing. I have two different sync cables and two different laptops, and the problem occurs with any combination of laptop and cable. Basically, it's very difficult to get the Treo to be recognised correctly and then sync consistently.
When I plug the Treo into the laptop it makes some sort of connection because it vibrates (when on silent) and the LED lights. One of two things will then happen. Either ActiveSync will recognise the connection and show "Connecting", or I will get some kind of USB connection error from XP.
When I do manage to get AS to start "Connecting" then it sill often fails, as it doesn't appear to startup AS on the Treo itself. Sometimes the sync will start correctly, but then at some point during the 'Synchronising' process it will just fail and AS on the laptop will show 'Device Not Connected'
I suspect this is very much down to the extremely flaky looking connections on the sync cable (why, oh why could you not just use Mini USB Palm?? ). I have seen a number of suggestions about cleaning the connections with alcohol, or with a toothpick. I have tried this, and it seemed to work initially but after a single sync I'm still hacing problems. Has anyone found and 3rd party sync cables to be any better at making a consistently robust connection?
thanks
Mark
I had two opinions for my Treo
first one after two or three weeks using it was
"THIS IS THE WORST PALM and/or HTC product ever"
second, after about two months using it was
"IT IS NOT SO BAD"
after buying additional sync cable now im saying
"IT IS MORE BAD PRODUCT THAN GOOD PRODUCT"
1. Touchscreen driving me crazy.
Do not install today screen option of Speed dialing or Picture dialing programs because at the end of the month, the phone bill will supprise you and your face will be like this >:-( f$^^#$^!
This is a big problem.
All HTC products have different issues with touchscreen and this is the worst one.
Better to produce in the future non-touchscreen devices (smartphone devices)
2. Synchronization drive me crazy
Sometimes i can sync it
Sometimes no f**ing sign of syncing
Sometimes there is (USB device cant be recognized)
Sometimes it stops and the beggining
Always stops after screen turning off !
P.S. I have two different NEW sync cables.
Can you recommend me some other sync program????
3. There also volume issues
I have problems with conversation volume and ringing volume.
On the same level it sometimes loud and sometimes quiet.

[Q] Is bluetooth broken on the Nexus S, or am I doing something terribly wrong?

I'm being driven nuts trying to make any use of bluetooth on my new Nexus S 4G. I'm running the stock firmware, though it is now rooted. The same problems were present before I rooted it.
No matter which computing devices I try to pair nor how many times I try to re-pair, I get "paired but not connected." This means several things I need won't work, such as GPS sharing or file transfer. I've tried 2 different Android tablets, another Android phone, 2 different Windows Mobile phones, a desktop and a notebook with exactly the same results.
The NS4G will pair with my car, but it will only transfer phone numbers, not street addresses, email addresses, web sites, or notes. Names are transferred as all "first name" (the full name or company name appears in the first name field), irrespective of whether there's even a first name listed at all. This means I can't ever sort by last name or company in the car, which I often wish to do. My primitive Windows Mobile phone can handle all this with no difficulty at all. The "Car Home" interface won't auto-start no matter what I do.
I'm having difficulty believing that Bluetooth functionality could possibly be this lousy in any modern device, especially one that works so well in every other way. Can anyone help me track down whether I'm somehow doing something wrong, or if I need to give up on the phone and swap it for something else?
I had the same problem couldn't receive anything through Bluetooth, but I download Bluetooth File Transfer and now receives And pairs with any device
I'm not having problems. I've sent files between phones via bt, used head sets, and played games with an emulator and wii controller. I've never had the need to transfer contacts. Try reboot the phone and or make the other device go into forced pairing mode. Maybe you're doing something wrong. On the other hand, I never can connect the phone to my macbook. It's such an ordeal. I've tried xp too and never had success. Im probably doing something wrong.

I downloaded it and was able to use it to transfer a file between the Nexus S and an Android tablet. This does not, however, appear to have fixed anything else. Settings still shows "paired but not connected," no other bluetooth utilities work, and I'm still unable to transfer contacts to the car.

Why am I losing paired devices on the paired device list on my T959V?

Both my wife and I have SGH-T959V with stock 2.3.6 firmware. We have numerous bluetooth devices these two phones are paired to.
My questions.... Once paired, a device should always show up on the bluetooth setting page (as PAIRED) even if that device is turned off or not within distance, right? What if unpairing has been done from that device?
The Scan Device button is to scan new unpaired but ready to be paired (30 sec or so) devices, right? And it has nothing to do with the paired device list below it, right?
Last question. If I turn off the bluetooth on my T959V and turn it back on, my panasonic KX-TG7745 link-to-cell desktop phone would not reconnect even it is set to auto-reconnect every 1 min. I have to manually connect it on my T959V. That is annoying but is that normal?
The problem I have is I am always losing paired devices on the paired device list on my T959V. Power cycling or removing battery might or might not get every device back.
Anyone having the same problem?
Bluetooth on the stock GB ROMs was wildly unreliable for me. I never figured out what it was, but my Motorola hands-free unit would sometimes not connect, sometimes disappear, and often not connect the audio.
I find that the Bluetooth support on AOKP (and probably most of the ICS ROMs derived from the TeamAcid line) to be greatly improved. Shoot, even just being able to give my Motorola a name so I can tell it from the same model in my wife's car is worth it!

[Q] WiFi Storage Device App crashes on Nexus 5

Hello guys,
So, I purchased a WiFi Storage Device that is also a 5200mAh power bank and a wireless 3G/4G router.
My purpose of purchasing this was so I could plug in my 1TB hard drive and share the tons of music & videos I have on it with my PS3, laptop and especially my Nexus 5 without having to copy into these individual systems.
Every feature on this devices works fine (surprisingly ). The only problem is that the android software doesn't work with my Nexus 5 but works with other Android phones. The software runs fine on my phone and I can view the contents of my external hard drive plugged to the device but whenever to I try to play a movie or music file, the software just crashes.
I have tried the same thing on a HTC One X and a Samsung phone and I can stream the video and music just fine on them.
I even tried an unrooted Nexus 5 but faced the same problem.
Is it possible to somehow decode what causes this error?
If not can an entirely different software be written that can work with this device and on my phone?
Thanks

Z3 unable to pair with laptop

Hi guys, I tried pairing my z3 which I have restored to its factory settings (previously I have already paired the phone to the laptop) but I am unable to do so as every time I tried to pair it, it will show that this phone has already been paired with the computer but yet under my wireless listing, my pc name is not shown at all unlike previously, making me unable to do anything, is there any methods to solve this or do I need to exchange for a new set?
Anyone of you who can help?

you should give both info about phone and laptop
what OS installed in ur laptop?
and what is happening when u want to remove xz3 from pair device on laptop?
My guess is that the pairing is still active on your PC only, meaning that it is skipping the negotiation phase when your phone tries to connect, and makes your phone fail to connect.
On your laptop you will have to go to your bluetooth devices and delete your Z3 from there. Delete your laptop from your phone if you can find it and start the pairing process over from scratch.
Simply trying to re-pair purely off the phone is not enough to re-establish a connection.
