Replace Boot Logo (Splash Screen) and Boot animation - HTC One E8

Hi all !
Replacing boot animation is easy - it's in system/customize/resources folder.
Replace the zip files and reboot.
Just remember to change the permissions on them.
The real question is how to replace the annoying splash screen ?
what's the correct andoid-info file and has anyone got a proper .img from stock HTC ?
Thanks !!!

Maybe we can use the one for M8?? Do not know if we have to modify something before we use it.

From what I know, messing with splash can be risky since there's always a chance to overwrite a wrong partition on the phone.
I can't find any information anywhere about file structure of e8 ...
Can anyone confirm whether it's identical to M8 ?

If the tool can pull it from the E8 i would think it will use the right partition. I will check it as soon as i receive my E8.

[HOWTO] Revive a bricked P500 on fastboot mode (the SHORT way)

The usual DISCLAIMER: Use at your own risk!
Fastboot mode usually comes up if something went wrong when trying to flash a recovery image, for example when flashing AmonRa recovery or ClockWorkMod. It happened to me several times so I tried to learn to revive it without reflashing the original firmware. Note: This tutorial works only if recovery is the only one broken. (If the ROM itself is broken, then that's a subject for another tut.) In this case, the most logical thing to do is just reflash the recovery image. So how do you do it in fastboot mode? Here's how:
Symptom
You tried flashing a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod or Thunderg, or you flashed an incorrect ROM, and when you rebooted, it showed this screen:
Code:
fastboot mode started
udc_start()
and the phone stays there. When you plugin the phone to your computer's USB, it is detected and the screen has this display:
Code:
fastboot mode started
udc.start()
-- suspend --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
You will need
1) Your PC and your USB cable for the phone
2) USB drivers for your phone (use B2C from LG).
3) Android SDK (download from here)
4) Java, required to run the SDK (but right now I am not sure if this is required to run fastboot!)
5) ClockWorkMod or AmonRa Recovery.
Here's what to do
1) Assuming phone is turned on in fastboot mode, plug it in to the USB of your PC. You will know that it is detected if you see the the lines "suspend", "reset" and whatnot on the phone's screen.
2) Extract the recovery image from the zipfile downloaded from step#5 above (e.g. LGp500-recovery-v12.img). Place the image file in the same folder where fastboot.exe is (usually in the tools\ folder in the SDK). For your convenience, rename the img file as recovery.img
3) Fire up your command prompt and cd to the directory where fastboot.exe is located. Then type the following command:
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
Once you get the confirmation that it was successful, type this:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once you get the success confirmation, reboot the phone, or you can also type (optional):
Code:
fastboot reboot
The phone will reboot itself, and with any luck you should be able to go back to your same old Android bootscreen. Note that no settings were modified here, so this is extremely useful for those who do not want a clean slate after a fastboot nightmare.
Also, note that if this is successful, you can now boot to recovery with the usual button-combos, thus enabling you to flash ROMs and other recovery zips.
Note: On some SDK versions, fastboot may not be included. For your convenience, I have attached the fastboot binary I got from my downloaded SDK. I have also attached AdbWinApi.dll which some user reported is missing in the SDK. Place the DLL in the same folder where fastboot.exe is located.
Questions, just drop me a line here
thanks dude, its very usefull

I'm afraid your issue may not be a subject for this tutorial. Fastboot mode is activated when the phone's recovery image is broken. May I know how you are sure that the recovery is actually broken?

Your posts are borderline spam at this point.
The only reason you are linking that thread, which has absolutely nothing to do with the op's issue whatsoever, is because that thread links to your thread.
You are again suggesting your 3.12 firmware hack, but this time to someone running a GB rom! Your suggestion will guarentee to bootloop his phone and possibly much worse since he would be mixing GB firmware with ICS firmware! You have done zero testing on that and have no idea how it will react.
Mixing firmwares of completely different versions is VERY risky.
Stop suggestion that people do untested firmware meddling!
Its to the point where you are suggesting this as a fix to everyone with any problem on any rom!

A little clarification.
Dont unpack the zip file so you would need to rezip it. Just open it.
And this way is great because it updates your firmware and rom in 1 easy step. So you will have a completely working ics rom in about 10 minutes.
But you can also just flash the 3.32 furmware you need for ics using a pm58img file preloaded with 4ext recovery, the flash the custom rom of your choice.
But if you do that, make sure to have the custom rom on the sd card first so you will have something to flash. Your old gb rom will not open on the new firmware so tge phone wont be usable right away.
In any case dont sweat it. Switching to ics is twice as easy as it was to root the phone initially.

WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO WIPE DATA FROM THE BOOTLOADER WHILST A CUSTOM RECOVERY IS INSTALLED, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET MAKE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING THE STOCK JB/ICS BOOTLOADER BY FLASHING THE ASUS BLOB PACKAGE FIRST!
You must have unlocked bootloader and be running the latest firmware 10.4.4.16
Procedure
1) Download 0.30 update from Asus website: http://www.asus.com.au/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_Infinity_TF700T/#download
2) extract the blob file from inside the second zip, put in your ADB/FASTBOOT directory
If you don't have fastboot download it here http://www.mediafire.com/?nbw2ofv3xd5s35l
3) Reboot tablet into bootloader (ON + VOLDOWN) then select fastboot mode
4) type command: fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system blob
5) wait for ages....
6) the install will hang on the spinning asus diagram
7) reboot into bootloader and select the "wipe data" (same menu as where fastboot is)
8) should reboot automatically and you should have sucessfully downgraded to ICS 0.30
Hope it also works for you.

Does it work with above method?
No idea, but you're welcome to try

Has anyone tried this method to downgrade to .26 from .30?
Ok, confirmed, it doesn't work to revert to .26. You get signature mismatch. I gave it a shot
Now, if I upgrade to JB and downgrade can I go to .26? Hmmm, might give it a whirl.

It won't work. You will get a signature mismatch. It seems to work between JB & 0.30

I can confirm this does work and does revert the bootloader.
Guys, can we move this to development? I personally believe it would be a great help to many over there. It saved my backside. I can tell you that! Great threat here!
Uh, I can't access fastboot anymore with the JB update. It comes up as unknown device. I have installed the Naked Drivers and have had it installed for awhile with no problems.
The cmd sticks to < waiting for device >.
Can you create a zip with the right ADB/FASTBOOT drivers? I have try many but my tablet is not showing when i do FASTBOOT DEVICES

ADB/FASTBOOT folder? Sorry, haven't really fooled around much with my TF700, except for getting root. (and then loosing it like an idiot when I rushed to upgrade to JB)

1) To be able to use this fastboot method you need to have installed the android-sdk (google it) with the platform-tools package and also the Google USB drivers (i think it is in the extras package)
1A) Alternatively download this package, it contains the ADB/FASTBOOT application... not sure about the correct drivershttp://www.mediafire.com/?nbw2ofv3xd5s35l
2) Inside this package are two executables called adb and fastboot. Using windows command prompt you will have to navigate to the folder that contains these two executables and type "fastboot devices" if you have your TF700 plugged in and in fastboot mode you should see a few numbers and you're ready to go!

Oh, well, then I'm an idiot. I thought it was a /system/fastboot or something silly that asus decided to do. Simple enough.
I get a:
C:\platform-tools>fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system WW_9.4.5.30.zip (this is the unpacked update from the asus site)
sending 'system' (375245 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.656s
Should I have unlocked bootloader to downgrade?
does the "wipe data" feature of the stock recovery really delete the whole internal storage or does it leave the internal sdcard partition intact? i forgot to make a backup of this part (only my apps through titanium) and now my JB upgrade failed and i don't want to lose all my pictures and stuff

you can't just flash the zip, you have to extract the "blob" file inside the zip and flash that

FIRMWARE - manual flash

hi all
trying to flash manually. have read guides with no success.
have tried renaming the extracted file, saving to sd card, tried flashing the zip in twrp and still no luck.
question - does anyone know the commands to flash the BLOB file?
i found this article BUT want to know if i should be using the same commands.
http://www.androidauthority.com/eee-pad-transformer-prime-ics-9-4-2-13-us-firmware-56714/
Copy the “blob” file into the root of your tablet’s removable microSD card.
Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your tablet.
In the Terminal Emulator screen, type “su” (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. This will allow root access to Terminal Emulator.
Type the command “dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4” (again, without the quotation marks) and press Enter. The command will take about 5 to 20 minutes to finish.
Reboot your device when the following is displayed in the app:
1068769+1 records in
1068769+1 records out
547210197 bytes transferred in 153.991 secs (3553520 bytes/sec)
As soon as the tablet is rebooted, the update process will automatically kick in.
thanks

yes it's unlocked and i'm running cromi-x 5.4 with hunds extreme tweaks kernel.
i want to flash to the stock firmware (.10) as i'll
1) be bringing it back to asus for a repair job - defective micro sd slot
2) want to flash roms which say i need .10 version bootloader.
i've looked at the manually flashing guides my tf doesnt detect nor does twrp flash it when i try to install.

No you will not need that just the blob ...
So from CMD window opened as admin run this command...
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system blob
Let it do its thing ....
Once it comes back to command prompt type
Code:
fastboot reboot
Let it boot into new rom with new bootloader and such ..
Thx Josh

thx josh! i followed your instructions and the TF went thru an updating process before booting to the home screen.
i checked the settings and the build says:
"J0P40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801" so i assume thats all correct now?
QN - do you know where i can get the stock kernel? as i'll be returning it for a repair under warranty i assume i need to restore this too?

For future reference, placing blob in the same folder as fastboot is not required. However you do need the blob folder to be the current folder for your terminal session.
