[TIP] Downgrade from JB to 0.30 works! - Asus Transformer TF700

G'day guys, I won't go into too much detail but as I lost root by updating OTA to JB I have been successfully able to downgrade the firmware to 0.30 (and bootloader evidentially)
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON INTERNAL STORAGE, IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKS, TRY AT OWN RISK!
WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO WIPE DATA FROM THE BOOTLOADER WHILST A CUSTOM RECOVERY IS INSTALLED, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET MAKE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING THE STOCK JB/ICS BOOTLOADER BY FLASHING THE ASUS BLOB PACKAGE FIRST!
You must have unlocked bootloader and be running the latest firmware 10.4.4.16
Procedure
1) Download 0.30 update from Asus website: http://www.asus.com.au/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_Infinity_TF700T/#download
2) extract the blob file from inside the second zip, put in your ADB/FASTBOOT directory
If you don't have fastboot download it here http://www.mediafire.com/?nbw2ofv3xd5s35l
3) Reboot tablet into bootloader (ON + VOLDOWN) then select fastboot mode
4) type command: fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system blob
5) wait for ages....
6) the install will hang on the spinning asus diagram
7) reboot into bootloader and select the "wipe data" (same menu as where fastboot is)
8) should reboot automatically and you should have sucessfully downgraded to ICS 0.30
Hope it also works for you.

Does it work with above method?

No idea, but you're welcome to try

Has anyone tried this method to downgrade to .26 from .30?
Ok, confirmed, it doesn't work to revert to .26. You get signature mismatch. I gave it a shot
Now, if I upgrade to JB and downgrade can I go to .26? Hmmm, might give it a whirl.

It won't work. You will get a signature mismatch. It seems to work between JB & 0.30

I can confirm this does work and does revert the bootloader.

Guys, can we move this to development? I personally believe it would be a great help to many over there. It saved my backside. I can tell you that! Great threat here!

Uh, I can't access fastboot anymore with the JB update. It comes up as unknown device. I have installed the Naked Drivers and have had it installed for awhile with no problems.
The cmd sticks to < waiting for device >.

Can you create a zip with the right ADB/FASTBOOT drivers? I have try many but my tablet is not showing when i do FASTBOOT DEVICES

ADB/FASTBOOT folder? Sorry, haven't really fooled around much with my TF700, except for getting root. (and then loosing it like an idiot when I rushed to upgrade to JB)

1) To be able to use this fastboot method you need to have installed the android-sdk (google it) with the platform-tools package and also the Google USB drivers (i think it is in the extras package)
1A) Alternatively download this package, it contains the ADB/FASTBOOT application... not sure about the correct drivershttp://www.mediafire.com/?nbw2ofv3xd5s35l
2) Inside this package are two executables called adb and fastboot. Using windows command prompt you will have to navigate to the folder that contains these two executables and type "fastboot devices" if you have your TF700 plugged in and in fastboot mode you should see a few numbers and you're ready to go!

Oh, well, then I'm an idiot. I thought it was a /system/fastboot or something silly that asus decided to do. Simple enough.

I get a:
C:\platform-tools>fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system WW_9.4.5.30.zip (this is the unpacked update from the asus site)
sending 'system' (375245 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.656s

Should I have unlocked bootloader to downgrade?

does the "wipe data" feature of the stock recovery really delete the whole internal storage or does it leave the internal sdcard partition intact? i forgot to make a backup of this part (only my apps through titanium) and now my JB upgrade failed and i don't want to lose all my pictures and stuff

you can't just flash the zip, you have to extract the "blob" file inside the zip and flash that

[HOWTO] Revive a bricked P500 on fastboot mode (the SHORT way)

The usual DISCLAIMER: Use at your own risk!
Fastboot mode usually comes up if something went wrong when trying to flash a recovery image, for example when flashing AmonRa recovery or ClockWorkMod. It happened to me several times so I tried to learn to revive it without reflashing the original firmware. Note: This tutorial works only if recovery is the only one broken. (If the ROM itself is broken, then that's a subject for another tut.) In this case, the most logical thing to do is just reflash the recovery image. So how do you do it in fastboot mode? Here's how:
Symptom
You tried flashing a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod or Thunderg, or you flashed an incorrect ROM, and when you rebooted, it showed this screen:
Code:
fastboot mode started
udc_start()
and the phone stays there. When you plugin the phone to your computer's USB, it is detected and the screen has this display:
Code:
fastboot mode started
udc.start()
-- suspend --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
You will need
1) Your PC and your USB cable for the phone
2) USB drivers for your phone (use B2C from LG).
3) Android SDK (download from here)
4) Java, required to run the SDK (but right now I am not sure if this is required to run fastboot!)
5) ClockWorkMod or AmonRa Recovery.
Here's what to do
1) Assuming phone is turned on in fastboot mode, plug it in to the USB of your PC. You will know that it is detected if you see the the lines "suspend", "reset" and whatnot on the phone's screen.
2) Extract the recovery image from the zipfile downloaded from step#5 above (e.g. LGp500-recovery-v12.img). Place the image file in the same folder where fastboot.exe is (usually in the tools\ folder in the SDK). For your convenience, rename the img file as recovery.img
3) Fire up your command prompt and cd to the directory where fastboot.exe is located. Then type the following command:
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
Once you get the confirmation that it was successful, type this:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once you get the success confirmation, reboot the phone, or you can also type (optional):
Code:
fastboot reboot
The phone will reboot itself, and with any luck you should be able to go back to your same old Android bootscreen. Note that no settings were modified here, so this is extremely useful for those who do not want a clean slate after a fastboot nightmare.
Also, note that if this is successful, you can now boot to recovery with the usual button-combos, thus enabling you to flash ROMs and other recovery zips.
Note: On some SDK versions, fastboot may not be included. For your convenience, I have attached the fastboot binary I got from my downloaded SDK. I have also attached AdbWinApi.dll which some user reported is missing in the SDK. Place the DLL in the same folder where fastboot.exe is located.
Questions, just drop me a line here
thanks dude, its very usefull

I'm afraid your issue may not be a subject for this tutorial. Fastboot mode is activated when the phone's recovery image is broken. May I know how you are sure that the recovery is actually broken?

I'm lost installing CMW

OMG yes i know im a newb but there is a first time for everybody for anything.
So i'm trying to unlock, root, install cwm and install custom roms but ive looked at all the instruction from many thread and a lot of them had missing steps
Anyways, i've downgraded from JB to 4.0.3, rooted, unlocked and now i'm trying to install CWM. So i installed android SDK and all tools, i've put recovery image in same folder as fastboot.exe, i've booted the tablet and selectied USB icon but wtf do i do now??
I'm basically here:
** FastBoot Method **
1) Install Android SDK
2) Download CWM Recovery image from the original thread and check the MD5 sum (don't skip MD5 check,is there to make sure the file is not corrupted)
3) Copy the downloaded file in the same directory as your fastboot.exe (unless you have /platform-tools in PATH then you can flash from anywhere)
4) Turn off your device and boot into fastboot mode (power on while holding volume down, then select the usb icon and hit volume up to confirm)
5) Plug the device into your computer
6) Run the following command via the command line:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
Where do i get this command line?? is it command line from windows such as CMD?? cause if it is, i've tried it and nothing. Do i have to point to where is the recovery image?? Its in C:\Users\Patrick\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools but i'm lost from that point, i'm not sure what command line i have to use, and how to set it up so i can tell it where to look.
Can anybody help me please?

change directory to the folder the recover/fastboot is in, using the CMD on windows. So:
"cd C:\Users\Patrick\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools"
make sure the recovery is called "recovery.img" and that its in the "platform-tools" folder alongside the fastboot.exe, then run the commands:
"fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img"
and
"fastboot reboot"

Yes, command line is in your PC. The location of the fastboot.exe located in c:\android-sdk\platformtools (if you install from sdk).
On your PC, open CMD and navigate to the above directory where fastboot.exe is. Make sure your recovery.img in also copied to this same folder. Now you can execute the fastboot comand:

I think it's easier for you to download Voodoo OTA root keeper to preserve root, then upgrade to JB, then use OTA root keeper to restore root. After this you can install TWRP recover by download goomanager from the play store and install it, once you have twrp, you're home free.
Currently you are on ICS, becareful if you use a wrong version of cwm you could brick your device. Many ppl installed ICS cwm version then upgrade to JB without the right version and they bricked.

I don't think you did it correctly, first boot you should see the 4 icons and you need to hit the volume down button on your device (within 10sec) to select USB icon then hit the volume up button to select this setting, now proceed with the instruction on your pc to flash. Make sure you copy the recovery twrp file named" openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-tf700t.blob" from here http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/tf700t to the "install Recovery" folder and RENAME this file to recovery.blob

Sounds like your pc is not communicate correctly with your device. When your device is on and you execute Scott's bat file, is your device reboot into recovery so that you can select fastboot mode? Basically, Scott bat file is using adb command to reboot your device into recovery mode, you manually select and enable fast boot mode on your device, then the script is using fastboot command to push the recovery.blob (located in the same directory as Scott bat file) to your device.

And you did select the USB icon and the text displayed "fastboot" on your device? You also have the twrp renamed to recovery.blob in the same folder as the script? Let manually push this file using fastboot.exe and see what's happens.

With fastboot same problem when I load from command prompt it sends the file however if I do it without starting from that directory it says file not found but fastboot devices show the number should I make a video and send it

don't trust the log from fastboot or any script. Just make sure the recovery.blog is in the same directory of the fastboot command and you must execute fastboot.exe from command prompt.
1. manually boot to fastboot mode from your device. (boot to recovery then select USB icon)
2. Open command prompt and run as admin and navigate to fastboot.exe directory (with recovery.blog in this directory also)
3. type;
fastboot.exe -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.blob
4. Once done, type
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot
Let me know the status.

This is what I get recovery.blob is in the folder and fastboot works as I can delete recovery just not write for some reason
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
H:\Users\Install user>cd C:\Fastboot
H:\Users\Install user>fastboot devices
015d262e99141416 fastboot
H:\Users\Install user>fastboot.exe -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.blob
error: cannot load 'recovery.blob': No error
H:\Users\Install user>
Also I would also like to point out it does not let me reboot after I write the files (using holding shift key and opening command prompt) as it freezes I think??? BEcause I can reboot from fastboot before I input writing flash recovery but after it wont allow don't know why?

Try this, copy the recovery.blob to this directory:
H:\Users\Install user\
Then type dir then hit enter, make sure your fastboot.exe and recovery.blob are there
H:\Users\Install user> dir then hit enter
Should show both fastboot.exe and recovery.blob
Now execute the fastboot command to push the recovery.blob

Nope, no Odin, but if your device is rooted, you could download goomanager from the market and install twrp using goomanager app.

Fastboot TWRP Flash Recovery "error: out of memory" in cmd

Hey, and thank you all here on the forums for all the guides and helpful information.
I am completely new at android rooting, flashing and all that comes with this, though I've read up quite a bit.
Now, my tablet is running the 4.2.1 build "JOP40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801" which i've found can not be rooted in certain ways, so I went for the fastboot.
I've made sure everything was as should be, far as I can tell from what I've read here:
Tablet prepared:unlocked, usb debugging checked
adb and fastboot ready
correct drivers
latest twrp blow(openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.2-tf700t.blob)
Then, as I put in the final command "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" I get the message "error: out of memory" and the fastboot.exe crashed.
What could be causing this? Don't really want to try over again since I have no idea what I might be doing wrong and I really don't want to end up with the hassle of a bricked tablet.
Could it be an issue with the twrp version, and its compatibility with the tablet?
There is no lack of available memory on my computer, and there shouldn't be problems with the tablet's ROM or RAM, as it runs fine except for the obvious problem this tablet has. Previous to unlocking it was wiped and reset to stock 4.2.1 Jelly Bean with the .10 build.
The CMD window looks like this:
"
C:\users\Hbryne.Hbryne-PC>fastboot devices
015d2d431f240415 fastboot
C:\users\Hbryne.Hbryne-PC>cd c:\android-adb
c:\android-adb>fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob
error: out of memory
"
Thanks in advance for any helpful reply!

It looks as if you ran the 'fastboot devices' command from a different directory than 'fastboot -i 0x0B05....'
You cd'd into c:\android-adb
You have to run the fastboot cmd out of the same directory your fastboot.exe is in. And twrp.blob has to be in that directory (or folder) too.

Ah, could that have caused it? Figured the connection check could be done from anywhere - maybe that's what triggered the error. Tried again - although now without the check since I know it's connected and recognized - and it worked
Thanks!

FIRMWARE - manual flash

hi all
trying to flash manually. have read guides with no success.
have tried renaming the extracted file, saving to sd card, tried flashing the zip in twrp and still no luck.
question - does anyone know the commands to flash the BLOB file?
i found this article BUT want to know if i should be using the same commands.
http://www.androidauthority.com/eee-pad-transformer-prime-ics-9-4-2-13-us-firmware-56714/
Copy the “blob” file into the root of your tablet’s removable microSD card.
Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your tablet.
In the Terminal Emulator screen, type “su” (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. This will allow root access to Terminal Emulator.
Type the command “dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4” (again, without the quotation marks) and press Enter. The command will take about 5 to 20 minutes to finish.
Reboot your device when the following is displayed in the app:
1068769+1 records in
1068769+1 records out
547210197 bytes transferred in 153.991 secs (3553520 bytes/sec)
As soon as the tablet is rebooted, the update process will automatically kick in.
thanks

yes it's unlocked and i'm running cromi-x 5.4 with hunds extreme tweaks kernel.
i want to flash to the stock firmware (.10) as i'll
1) be bringing it back to asus for a repair job - defective micro sd slot
2) want to flash roms which say i need .10 version bootloader.
i've looked at the manually flashing guides my tf doesnt detect nor does twrp flash it when i try to install.

No you will not need that just the blob ...
So from CMD window opened as admin run this command...
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system blob
Let it do its thing ....
Once it comes back to command prompt type
Code:
fastboot reboot
Let it boot into new rom with new bootloader and such ..
Thx Josh

thx josh! i followed your instructions and the TF went thru an updating process before booting to the home screen.
i checked the settings and the build says:
"J0P40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801" so i assume thats all correct now?
QN - do you know where i can get the stock kernel? as i'll be returning it for a repair under warranty i assume i need to restore this too?

For future reference, placing blob in the same folder as fastboot is not required. However you do need the blob folder to be the current folder for your terminal session.
