[Q] Replace, delete or flash the Bootloader? - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
I have a simple Question:
Is there a way, to absolutely remove or delete the bootloader or replace or flash the whole loader? I have to replace a
Bootloader on a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact! I think, Sony or a Provider loads the bootloader on the mobile phone, they
load it on the phone!!! -> so, they must be a way, to remove it from the phone!
A friend of mine has a crashed handy, with a crashed bootloader an he send the phone to sony, they easily repair the bootloader - so dont
tell me, that it is not possible to fully replace the bootloader with an other (newer or the same one).
So, how can i do this? What do i need for it?
Thanks and regards,
Stefan

Hello!
Ok, nobody can help me?
I'm searching for a solution - if i find someone, i post an exactly instruction here!!
The bootloader from the Galaxy S4 were already "cracked", so they could replace/flash the old bootloader
with a new or other one - if my information is right?
A friend told me, that - maybe - i need a other(a special) connection wire to connect the phone with the pc, but
it is not impossible to get this wire - there are always people who copy this (china, russia, etc.).
regards,
Stefan

[Q] Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V with no unlocking possibility?

Hi all, I've just bought my first android phone, Xperia Neo V. Surfing I found what a root is, a ROM, etc. I just rooted my phone by using SuperOneClick, and it worked perfectly. But i wanted more. I wanted to install Cyanogen Mod, but I read I needed to unlock the bootloader. I looked at my phone's service info (by dialing *#*#7378423#*#*) and it says Bootloader unlock isn't allowed... I've searched in the forum about bootloader unlocking, testpoint, and stuff but I'm a bit lost... Can't I do anything to install a ROM?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english, corrections are welcome

Click to collapse
It's nothing hard in testpoint method, just be careful and all will be ok.
So even it says boot loader unlock is not allowed, i can unlock it with test point?
no way
if it says not possible in service menu then not possible
used the roms which donot requires custom kernels!!!!

[Q] Xperia J locked everything but rooted

Hey, i got Xperia J from auction for cheap coz it was locked to local operators and ofc with locked almost everything. I managed somehow root it, but cannot figure out the locked bootloader (it should be done somehow after i rooted it?) and then that SIM lock. And, of course cannot fastboot.
I appreaciate any help.
Download Unlock Phone to help you unlock Bootloader and possibly unlock the simlock Please hit thanks if i helped )
Totally not helped, because that piece of c**p does not support ST26i and when i even wasted $15 it doesn´t not detect it.
Please point me any useful information rather than these paid non-functioning things...
I can do many things by myself but with these useless things i´m lost..
Otherwise i´ll be forced to find some service that would do it.. for price..

[Q] Sony Xperia TL [LT30at] - Need to free it from AT&T

Hello Community!!
Noobiest noob here. Please forgive my ignorance.
Sony Xperia TL [LT30at] AT & T phone.
Android version: 4.1.2
Build: 9.1.F.1.120
Here is my issue:
I now need to use this phone in India with a different network provider, but i don't want to spend money on unlocking the phone for a new sim card. I read a bit about flashing a custom ROM and watched Jeremy Phan's video: "3 ways to root your (xperia) android: tool kits, kernel flashing, recovery"
I installed sony's pc companion and update service, i also installed the flash tool on my machine.
a) will flashing the phone do the trick?
b) if so i'm having a tough time finding the right firmware for this phone. Please link me to a robust and hazel free firmware for my phone.
thanks a ton
micky
Hi Micky,
You cant unlock your phone (remove SIM lock) from the operator by reflashing it. You will need an unlock code for that. A legal way is to obtain it from AT&T if your contract is ended, the other one is to buy it, e.g. on eBay. Once you'll get it, just enter a simple key combination to get into service menu, go to appropriate menu item and enter that code there, after that your phone is unlocked, no reflash needed.
Hope that helps.
Hi summer,
Thanks a lot for your insight. I've been searching all the corners of the internet for a while now, with a vengance I think it should be time to drop those efforts.
Please bear with me, i'm trying to think out loud here - Is there no way i can tweak the phone to accept any sim card? Like by disabling a few settings or hard coding some part after gaining root access?
Buying an unlock code is not an option for me at this point, and i don't want to use the phone just to check email and take pictures
many thanks
SIM lock information is not stored somewhere in firmware, which you can access by gaining root permissions. I assume there may be some tricks similar to Turbo SIM in iPhone where you can emulate the correct SIM, but its definitely not worth it.

[Q] [D2302] Question about bootloader and DRM's.

Hi, I am Eugenio, and I like my new smartphone Sony Xperia M2 dual, (previous was a lg p500, nice one ), I like what sony has made with android and user experience, on the other side I come from a smartphone that has root, and some apps...you know....are addictive(with the root PoWeR). I already checked the phone number(*#*#...) and my smartphone are allowed to be unlocked in the bootloader. And I readed that if I do the unlock, I may break some DRM's keys that can influence negatively my user experience, and now I am wondering what kind of features/algorithms I am going to influence negatively(or break) by unlocking the bootloader? Some expert on this forum know what kind of things I am going to lose?
[Bonus question] I looked in this page to obtain the code that give me the capacity to unlock the bootloader: developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
and I was wondering if there are any problem to select the device Xperia M2 to obtain the necessary code obtained later by IMEI?
There is no one "M2 dual" in the list, and I dont know if this selection is valid or not for my intention to unlock the bootloader, what you think about? It is a valid method too?
[Combo->Bonus question] When I select "Xperia M2" in that page, there are this advice:
Important note! In order to unlock your Xperia™ M2 you need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37. Also beware that booting this device the first time after unlocking the boot loader may take a long time.
After I read it, I see the software version of my smartphone, and it is 18.3.B.0.31 and I was wondering if this would make impossible to unlock the bootloader. It is a problem?
[Final noob question] After all this doubts, if the unlock operation can be made, can I root the current stack of my android? Or I need to flash a new rom stack?

Access Locked MEdiapad T5 from legacy: HELP please

Hello,
we got my uncle's mediapad T5 from his legacy and would like to access all the family photos he took with the device. Sadly it is locked and we don't have a PIN or gmail account.
I was thinking:
- Inlocking Boot loader
- installing TWRP
- Mounting the device from PC
has anyone done this already and could guide me? Please no "it should work"..... only if someone has already done it.
Thank you very much!
Right now I am giving the device to a smartphone repair shop to open it, I don't want to break the display and from our research we HAVE to unlock the bootloader anyway.
We tried Wondershare DR. FONE but after purchasing the license we only have the possibility to factory reset... Which I don't need DR. FONE for...
Thank you
GiZ
