Ok so I have been trying to install cyanogenmod for a while now and have looked at various different differet tutorials but the place where i get stuck is on the custom recovery. When ever I try to install either Clockwork recovery or TWRP, I always get the error "this image file is corrupted". So does anyone know why this is. I am using a lenovo windows 8.1 system and Motorola XT032.
Please Help
Download the cyanogen mod zip again and put it in your SD card...wipe data (not the one on your emulated storage) and system partition, choose install zip from SD card, navigate to the cyanogen mod zip you downloaded and choose to flash it...
If you are getting an error while flashing cwm via fastboot then download the image again...

Ok so I tried it but just noticed that every disk image file i download ends up as corrupt, any solutions.
You mean, you are not able to install a custom recovery? The step when you type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"? My first choice would be to try it on some other computer from scratch, but I'm just guessing, sorry. You sure, youre bootloader is succesfully unlocked?
Don't want to confuse you with another tut, but I personally would recommend this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_falcon

Yes I am not able to mount the custom recovery, sorry for not using the words correctly. I am positive that my bootloader is unlocked, everytime my phone is switched on it comes up with the warning sign.

i suggest to download ADB tools again, the recovery of your choice from a different site and flash it from your pc, be sure to put te correct filenames and the cmd says is successful if doesn't work try from a different pc or try a different version of the custom recovery, after that install cyanogenmod is very easy
Ok so I tried everything but while searching for an older version of them I found Mototools. So i downloaded mototools and used it to download the latest cwm recovery but now I cant seem to be able to find where it saverd the file and I know this works because I used it to remove the boot up warning. Does anyone have any suggestions about where it could be?

So I unlocked my HTC ONE X Rogers and I am un-certain as to what is the next step before I can try to get CM10 on my phone. I've yet to find a guide for this anywhere that is 100% accurate.
If anyone would be able to kindly point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

You unlocked what, the bootloader? If so, your next step would need to be to flash a custom recovery (twrp) via fast boot. After that step, you drag over a SU zip to your sdcard, and flash that via recovery. Then you have successfully rooted and installed a Recovery. If you need a step by step, follow the guides on the development stickies. I personally rooted and unlocked my cousins Onex yesterday using the methods on one root.com.. even though I'll probably be slapped around for admitting that on xda lol

2) Flash twrp via fast boot.
3) Drag SU zip(?) no idea.

First and foremost make sure that you properly mount and unmount the device from your computer not doing so will cause your internal memory to get corrupted. I have made that mistake twice even knowing about it. This means on your computer think of your phone as a USB drive.
Once you have flashed recovery,
You need to flash the boot.img that comes with the ROM that you want to install. (I have used X-factor tool, simply extract the boot.img from the zip package and put it in /data/kernel/ then from the menu select "install kernel using this command" and press Install)
Then reboot your device into recovery
mount your sdcard
upload your ROM to your phone, and GApps that will work with your ROM
unmount
Install your ROM.
Install your Gapps ( or you can reboot and then install them)
It has worked for me.
I hope that helps you.

Why do I need X-Factor tool? is it not a matter of copy paste I guess? a bit confused on this front.
Mounting my sd card - how do I do that?
Link to Gapps download? or do I just install them via play store?
I am afraid to do all these steps. haha sorry for all the questions if I seem like a total idiot.

It is not a simple matter of just copy paste "to an extent" the tool gives the user a GUI to simplify the process this is the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 you need to go to his website to download the tool. It just makes it easier for people who are not too comfortable with the command prompt.
This tool goes from a locked phone to unlocked and rooted in "easier" to follow steps.
You unlock your boot loader,
Then Flash your Recovery
Then Flash your boot.img
Then install your ROM and Gapps and you are done.
About mounting/unmounting, if you have installed the recovery image (I use TWRP) when you enter recovery there is a menu, one of the options is Mount, if you click on that (and you have your phone connected to the computer via USB) then there will be several options, you want to mount your sdcard, if there is an "x" is already selected and just press "mount" then the system will mount your device as a external drive. At that point you copy your ROM and GAPPS to the phone.
To properly unmount think of your phone as a USB drive, on your computer screen (WIN) go to the notification and righ-click on the "USB" attached and select eject OR go to your "computer" window and right click on the drive that is your phone and the select eject. Once you have done that then on your phone you click unmount.
press the back arrow and go back to the main menu from there for to "Install",
select your ROM which should now be in your phone now and
slide to install.
Then to install your GApps follow the same install but this time select the gapps zip.
A link to the Gapps i can't give you since it depends on your rom if you are using CM10 just search CM10 gapps download and that will take you to the CM website.
after that reboot and you should be good.
Everyone is confusing you in this thread. Download twrp. Install. Put ROM and gapps on SD card. Boot into twrp. Install ROM then gapps. That's it

yes those gapps are good,
No you do not need to do any of that since you are doing a clean install.

IMHO, Not everyone is as well versed as you are in this process, sometimes they need a more detailed description, anything that can me it easier for new user i think is generally better received.
telling him, install TWRD, install ROM install gapps, and you are done, doesn't help much if he is not familiar with any of this.

It shouldn't take that long maybe a few seconds
make sure that you installed CM10 first
and then the apps,
Also did you flashed your boot.img? it happened to me that it would not load unless i flashed the boot.img initially.

Well that is one weird step that has worked for me,
if you are using the X-factor tool, you extract the boot.img from the zip and put it in the folder ...\data\kernel\ within the x-factor folder in your computer not the phone.
Put your phone into fastboot mode (it should display fastboot USB)
Then you run the tool and on the left bottom side there is a menu, select "using this command" and press either install or flash i don't remember
Then try to reboot if your system load then you are good to go if not
then reisntall the ROM and the gapps
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
if you are not using the X-factor tool then reboot into fastboot
unzip the boot.img in the same folder where you have fastboot (forgot make sure the DOS prompt is in the right folder where fastboot and boot.img are)
and run this command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and then
fastboot reboot
if the system doesn't come up then reinstall the ROM and the gapps
hmmm...
revise the process again,
if your recovery is working
then flash your boot.img (make sure that you are actually flashing the boot.img) if you are not doing it properly then you will remain in the booting logo.
with X-factor make sure the boot.img is in the \kernel\ folder that is where the tool will look in order to flash if nothing is there then nothing will be flashed.
Flashing manually you need to make sure your boot.img is in the same folder as your fastboot script and then you need to run the command stated in the previous reply.
Then reboot, this has always been the main problem you need to make sure you are actually flashing the boot.img and then reboot your phone.
If the still no loading
then go into recovery
install your ROM
then install your gapps
If I select the one I put on my SD card, should it be a zip, or the boot.img file only ? maybe that's where I am messing this up?
Edit: Nope, .zip only lol
I am still at the spinning circle. . .
I put the boot.img in my C:\hox (containing adb, adbwinapi.dll, boot.img,fastboot, Unlock_code)
and shift - Right click ->Open command from here, then did the commands you mentioned previously.
Then from there, spin circle.
Then I try to go in to recovery and install the rom from there and still after reboot spin circle.
Hi Friends
I had installed CM9.1 on my HTC Explorer after rooting. Then yesterday I have installed CM 10.1. But when I try to goto "Recovery" mode by selecting the "Recovery" menu and pressing the power button, the phone stucks at the HTC White logo. Then the only option is to remove the battery If I try 5-6 times then only once I might get into the recovery menu to do anything.
Does anyone has this problem ?
Any solution to this ?
I didn't had or heard this kind of problem before.
It can probably happen due to a bad recovery.img (it was not downloaded correctly...)
Well, download latest TWRP and flash it using fastboot. Go to recovery and do a clean install.
After this clean install, maybe this problem will be gone..
After flashing the broken openrecovery you gave, i have to go back into the boot loader and flash recovery_twrp.img (a recovery that works for me).. so I flashed the zip I created through the huawei update extractor, then tried to flash the homemade zip too, but it failed, so i rebooted and went back into the TWRP recovery, now it's asking for a password. (which I assume is set by Android 4.4, since I haven't set any password).. so I can't continue using this recovery, I need to get the recovery you gave me to work.
that's my current issue.
Any support would be appreciated
Does spirit free radio work?
ok i was trying to flash a lolipop rom on my N5 via TWRP. So i went into wipe>format data>yes and Andvanced wipe>checked everything and wiped.
Now my downloaded file is gone (stupid me, i know) and when i try to reboot it says no OS installed. If i go ahead, phone is stuck on google logo. PLEASE HELPPP :crying:
Thanks!
Press the power button for 10 seconds, the phone should turn off. Then press VOL DN and PWR again and your bootloader should appear. From there you can select recovery and fix the no OS issue.
With TWRP, you can select Advanced > SIDELOAD. Then with a compatible ADB.exe (and it's files) you can flash a rom using 'adb sideload <filename>.zip'.
Note: Check device manager after sliding to enable Sideload. Make sure your phone shows up as a recognized device.
Edit: Also make sure your .zip file is in the same folder your ADB.exe is in.
Did you place your backup onto your desktop? If you didn't then all of your data is gone but you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...olkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-8-3-t2517778 to flash Lollipop onto your Nexus but you may have to do it via fastboot.
Or push any custom rom/Gapps from the PC to the sdcard with adb: adb push romname.zip /sdcard/ and manualy flash the rom in recovery.
OMG this worked!!!!!! Thanka a million!!!!!!
TWRP mount option allows mtp. You can copy the flashable zip eg bixxie stock zip. After copying just disable mtp and flash as regularly.
With lollipop though the recovery gets messed up after bit so flash SuperSU zip immediately after flashing the stock zip
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I do this by trying install the new B511 firmware. I download the update.zip file and I unzip it and try to install the UPDATE.APP I found into the zip file. After that the phone always show the Huawei logo and I can't closed it. The only think I can do is to put it into bootloader mode. I try to boot through fastboot from my pc the SYSTEM.img and RECOVERY.img using a official firmware and the HuaweiUpdateExtractor, but without success. And the 3 button way (Volume up + Volume down + power) not working anymore. And also I can't get in recovery mode. I try with official recovery and with twrp recovey
i dunno how to flash MM but i think i can help you back to LP. make sure you have stock recovery for LP. if you dont just download mobopx's tool. im currently using B328, so just extract the archive and place the dload folder in either your root or an sdcard. turn off phone, hold volume up & power. hope this helps. btw, installing MM requires more steps including an update to the stock recovery.
If you have already unlock your bootloader you can try 'one-key recovery' method with HiSuite version 4.0 (download it from the official chinese website) this method will restore and flash your ROM and your phone will be OK
I did the same mistake. I have Access to recovery mode, install mode and so on but everytime I try to install another Rom it stucks at 5% and I get a failure message.
and how can I open your mega link ?
hello my friend.
I am in the same situation as you , try installing mm and the phone went on bootloop and there did not come out , I've tried everything but nothing updates, the EMUI reaches 5% and then says the software install failed, if you given solution to your problem you ask for help in trying to solve this problem.
I thank you in advance.
