Nexus 5 --- No OS --- Stuck on Google logo - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok i was trying to flash a lolipop rom on my N5 via TWRP. So i went into wipe>format data>yes and Andvanced wipe>checked everything and wiped.
Now my downloaded file is gone (stupid me, i know) and when i try to reboot it says no OS installed. If i go ahead, phone is stuck on google logo. PLEASE HELPPP :crying:
Thanks!

Press the power button for 10 seconds, the phone should turn off. Then press VOL DN and PWR again and your bootloader should appear. From there you can select recovery and fix the no OS issue.

With TWRP, you can select Advanced > SIDELOAD. Then with a compatible ADB.exe (and it's files) you can flash a rom using 'adb sideload <filename>.zip'.
Note: Check device manager after sliding to enable Sideload. Make sure your phone shows up as a recognized device.
Edit: Also make sure your .zip file is in the same folder your ADB.exe is in.

Did you place your backup onto your desktop? If you didn't then all of your data is gone but you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...olkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-8-3-t2517778 to flash Lollipop onto your Nexus but you may have to do it via fastboot.

Or push any custom rom/Gapps from the PC to the sdcard with adb: adb push romname.zip /sdcard/ and manualy flash the rom in recovery.

OMG this worked!!!!!! Thanka a million!!!!!!

TWRP mount option allows mtp. You can copy the flashable zip eg bixxie stock zip. After copying just disable mtp and flash as regularly.
With lollipop though the recovery gets messed up after bit so flash SuperSU zip immediately after flashing the stock zip

[Q] I think I may have unlocked my bootloader twice...

I tried to use the search and google but didn't really find anything helpful. Almost 2 years ago, I unlocked the bootloader back on honeycomb and did custom recovery, root, and custom rom. Then a little while after ICS came out, I did the OTA update.
Today, I reset the xoom back to stock ICS and tried to unlock the bootloader again...thinking nothing of it. The process was taking a few minutes so I decided to get a snack and when I came back it was rebooting.
I assumed that it worked and continued to try and fastboot a recovery image. The recovery image installed and I did another reboot but was greeted with the android welcome screen. Anyways I went through the menus and then tried to enter recovery and it gave me an android laying on its back with and exclamation point above his open chest.
I hard rebooted and can still get into my device, but adb cannot seem to find my xoom anymore. I have tried it on a 64bit desktop and laptop with no luck.
Have I messed up? Or is there a simple fix that I am missing? Thanks in advance for any help!
Can you get into fastboot mode? The second time you unlocked did you have to go through the questions on your xoom again?

Yes, I can get into fastboot by holding the volume down key and the power button. That's fastboot, right?
Yes, I had to go through the menus the second time I unlocked.
sounds like the recovery you try to fastboot did not take or the rom was corrupt.. Which recovery was it? Do you want to be rooted and run a custom rom or completely stock? what xoom do you have(wifi, 3g, 4g)

I want to flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997434
With whichever recovery is best. I tried flashing this recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
I am on a 4G xoom on 4.0.4 but I don't use my data plan. I would like to be on a nice stable build of 4.2.
Download your rom choice, gapps and put them on the root of your sd card. If they are already there skip this step
I like TWRP Recovery the best. Easy to use and lots of options.
download this Twrp 2.4 img to the folder you hve fastboot in
open a cmd prompt in that o that folder
type fastboot flash recovery TWRPv2.4.1.0.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
You should be in twrp 2.4
select backup/restore and backup your current system
select install and find your rom select asnd then swipe to flash
when done then select home
select install again and find the gapps package and install
when done select wipe dalvick/cache
when done select reboot
select system
you should be good to go.
Well I got through all of the steps, but when I try to boot I get stuck in a loop of the roms boot logo. Is it okay to flash a wingray rom over a stingray device?

I think it is fine just the 3g/4g won't work.
I can get you going again but you are going to be starting with a locked honeycomb device. You will then have to either let it update to ICS or JB or unlock, root, install custom recovery and flash a rom. What xoom do you have 3g or 4g?

However, could I ask how to root this thing?
since you have a custom recovery on it already and are unlocked.
Download this file Universal xoom root place it on the root of your sd card and flash it. Then reboot and try a root required app such as root checker

Hello
That's the guide i followed, I run the bat file put it into fast USB mode. It copies the file and I see a small progress bar on the hand set then it says completed successfully. When I try to put it into recovery it just boots as normal and yes I am highlighting the recovery bit in the menu the hitting the power button to select it.
put phone into fastboot mode (you know how already)
use adb command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
once successfully sent to phone, shut down phone then try again to access recovery (hold vol - and press power button once, scroll down to recovery) hope it helps

If you're having difficulty flashing recovery, you can easily do it with ROM Manager.
All you've to do is downloading ROM Manager from Play Store, open it and choose Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, follow the steps, wait and you're done. PS, your phone must be rooted before using ROM Manager. It will flash latest version CWM Recovery available for your device.
Please hit 'Thanks' if I helped you.
*Modify*
Sorry I read it later that your phone is not rooted yet. So you can first install superuser.apk by flashing superuser.zip from inbuilt recovery(you'll find the way in rooting tutorial) and then follow the above mentioned steps.

If your using a sense ROM, it doesn't fully shut down on power off. You have to take out the battery and put it back in before holding power and volume down to boot into recovery. If you can't get into the recovery, reflash it.

This was the method given in the rooting tutorial:
After unlocking bootloader,
Copy SuperUser.Zip file into SD-Card and then turn OFF your HTC Explorer (Take Out Your Battery > Place it Again). Then Press & Hold Volume DOWN + Power key to get into Bootloader.
Then Select Fastboot with Vol Keys and Press Power Key > When You are in fastboot connect your HTC Explorer to PC Via USB Cable
Extract Recovery.zip file anywhere on your pc and run the Recovery.bat file, wait a moment and you are done.
Now, after running the Recovery.bat file and successfully completing the above step press Power Key to get back into Bootloader:
Using Vol Keys > Select Recovery,
Wait until this Recovery screen is shown (It Could be in blue colour or any other colour):
Using Vol Keys Select Install zip from sdcard and Press Power Key > Then Choose Zip From SD-card and Press Power Key and finally select the Superuser.zip file using Vol Keys and Press Power Key.
And when it shows Install complete or something, you've successfully rooted your device.
From above method you've managed to install a temp. recovery from that recovery.bat but you need a recovery you can access without connecting it to PC but with bootloader.
After it, reboot back. Install application ROM Manager from Play Store. Open it when installed, grant superuser permission(just select yes when a pop-up appears. It asks root permission). Now follow the steps I told you before. You can do rest of the things easily.
However you can install a custom ROM(upgrade your android version) only by unlocking bootloader and flashing recovery. But as your warranty is already void now, root your phone and enjoy all features around.
Like you can install link2sd from Play Store. It can forcefully move any app to sd-card. So your memory problem is out.
Yes, now don't forget to hit 'Thanks' or you would not succeed.

Restart loop after update

Hello,
Yesterday there was an update for the Moto G, I confirmed to do the update. Since then the phone is in a reboot loop. I mean it doesn't matter what ever I do,the phone restart itself in every 2-3 minutes. The phone is rooted.
I've tried to do a factory reset from the setting, however nothing happens when I want to erase the settings. In the bootloader if I chose Recovery or Factory reset, the phone reboots.
I've got a tip that I should remove the update file from the /chace directory, however I don't know how to do so,as the phone keeps reboot itself.
The only place, where the phone is not restarts is in the bootloader.
Is there any way to somehow solve this problem without flash a stock rom ?
Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Péter

You have to press volume up instead of power to choose something in fastboot menu.
Unroot and if used custom recovery go back to stock recovery.

My is rooted and cwm 6.0.4.6
May be we must do something with fastboot command
my GF's Moto G did the same thing, luckily it was a simple fix.
I had already rooted her stock 4.4.2 and installed CWM Recovery 6.0.4.6.
If you havent installed, CWM or TWRP, then I recommend to do so by fastboot command and the recovery.img.
Here is the forum link to install CWM Recovery for your Moto G:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563599
So I just Powered Off the phone. Then go back into the CWM Recovery by:
- hold down Volume Down and hold down Power Button for about 4-5 secs
- then let them go and you will see the Fastboot menu
- Press Volume Down (to highlight Recovery)
- then Press Volume Up (to select and go into Recovery, in this case the custom recovery)
- then just Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache
- then Reboot Phone.
Done.
I think I will install CM11 for her and not have to deal with the stock ROM that gets official updates pushed onto it causing issues like this.

At the moment i am confused. But yeah i'm assuming it will work.
Cause if i understand it right, the superboot method is a modified kernel.
So you should flash motoboot.img.
There are several ways now. Either you flash cwm and wipe /cache as described above.
Or you flash motoboot and then , in my opinion, it should work.

I used the method to root the phone what is on that site,I followed that description and it worked. I'am not an expert in it,so I just followed PaulOBrien guide,so I can't answer for it for sure.
At this point I'am really desperate as the phone is completely useless, so I don't care even if I had data loss,as I can't access it anymore, nor save it to my PC.
In my knowledge, which seems not to be true anymore, the phone needs to be stock to install any update.
I am not talking about installed apps. It is more about system partition, recovery, kernel and so on.
I would try now to flash the motoboot.img and see what happens.
If this does not work i would flash cmw and try what was mentioned above.
Sure you can go completly stock. But in my view you are not that lost.
I'll stay with you
......but max 5 hours =)

However I have an idea, but maybe I'am wrong.
What happens if I try the chace wipe via in command line, I mean:

This should delete the cache right ? Shouldn't this command remove the problematic update file ?
Oh yeah this should be also an option.

I was able to enable the usb debugging, and then to start the bootloader. However If I connected the phone and tried to execute the adb reboot-bootloader command it didn't worked. So I restarted the phone and entered into the bootloader, then I've done the following:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
After the first command, the phone rebooted into bootloader, then the second command finally cleared the chace. Now my uptime is more then 8 minutes,so the phone is working great now
However I will do the complete process on the weekend, but not now as I'am really tired, but I will flash a stock rom at the weekend.

After flashing the broken openrecovery you gave, i have to go back into the boot loader and flash recovery_twrp.img (a recovery that works for me).. so I flashed the zip I created through the huawei update extractor, then tried to flash the homemade zip too, but it failed, so i rebooted and went back into the TWRP recovery, now it's asking for a password. (which I assume is set by Android 4.4, since I haven't set any password).. so I can't continue using this recovery, I need to get the recovery you gave me to work.
that's my current issue.
Any support would be appreciated

K20 pro is not rebooting into recovery

Hello everyone,
Lately I've changed my rom from to another (both of them are custom). The problem is when I try to reboot my phone into recovery (TWRP) but instead it reboots into bootloader.

I have an advanced menu in the rom where I can choose if I want to reboot into recovery, system or boot loader, so I choose recovery but the phone reboots in bootloader. Even if I just pressed the power button and volume up it also go to the bootloader

Please be specific the information :
1. Which ROM r u in?
2. Before this happen, which Recovery r u in?
3. Did you try to boot into recovery by adb command : adb reboot recovery ?
1. I'm currently using Arrow os.
2. TWRP.
3.Yes I did because there's no other way you can get into the recovery but using adb only gives me access to TWRP, but the problem is that every rime I want to access TWRP I should use a computer.

Means you still able to boot into recovery, just that u must use command lines and the recovery's not there when u try to boot into it by other method, correct?
If so, download OF latest build R11.1.2.1 ( zip file ) boot into TWRP, flash the zip, boot info OF, flash the zip in OF again, then let it do the auto reboot into recovery. When done, clear cache, Dalvik then reboot to system as normal.
Then try to reboot to recovery by normal ways, inform me back if it's work
Thank you for your reply. I will try to do it after some time because I'm busy right now hopefully it works
