Sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place. It won't let me post in the developer section.
I rooted my One X back in March and decided to switch to the One S because the One X is a bit big for my little hands.
I have followed the root instruction, unlocked bootloads without any problems but when i flash CWM it say its been successful but it won't boot when into to recovery. Instead I get a message at the top saying loading recovery and a message at the bottom saying something about being an android device and i shouldn't be doing what i'm doing.
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know what I might be able to try to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Don't use CWM it hasnt been support for a long time, instead use TWRP so so so much better.

Thanks for this. I've had a quick look and it says to install this will GooManager (with root permission) but I don't have root yet. How am I supposed to flash this? Is there a file I can flash with adb?
Thanks

All-In-One toolkit will flash it for you.
I recently Rooted my At&t one x and installed the lasted Viper XL. i had an issue during the first flash of the ROM but fixed it by restoring back up and re flashing, however i did not select wipe flash this time to see if it would work, sure enough it worked so i started customizing and exploring what it has. Then i was trying to figure out the OTA feature and sure enough i did not have it. I found one solution which was to re flash the ROM but i do not want to lose all my setting and redo it all again. so the question is...is there a way to get the OTA update feature without re flashing or at least a way to re flash and keep all my settings apps and what not intact?
new to rooting android, feared it for a while after bricking my first HTC one X. Any help is greatly appreciated

I think I know the confusion
When you get an OTA update from Viper, it is obtained by going to System > About > Software updates, exactly the way you would normally on a carrier rom.
If you have downloaded the latest Viper, which will be 3.1.0 , there will be no OTA updates, as that is the latest version
Hope that helps you out.
I'm confused why it's so hard to post a question in the correct section?

Sorry for wrong forum didn't see roms as part of q and a.
So regarding this answer...the ota update feature will only appear when there's an update? I find this strange because there is no way to for viper to check tosee if you have the most current version. But if you could confirm this that would be appreciated

Lots of people put questions in the general forum, and its get a bit annoying. Also, you run a much greater chance of it being answered if you put in the in the Q&A section, and we don't end up annoying the moderators who then move it for you (which it looks like someone has)
Basically, if you sentence ends with a ? it belongs in Q&A, regardless of what you are asking about, ROM or phone or anything else.
The Viper rom is coded to check the Venom Hub periodically for updates, and will end up telling you there is an update available, similar to if a carrier rom had put an update up. I can confirm this is very much the case, as I have had my phone when it was on the 2.xx version, and my phone told me I had an update available, which, when I checked, told me it was a Viper update, not a carrier update.
That being said, I actually have that option unticked, as I keep quite a close eye on the Viper rom thread and know when there's an update before the phone does!! I have no idea how often the phone checks for updates btw.

For minor updates to most any custom ROM, you can just flash without wiping data (factory reset). But always wipe Dalvik and cache. This is called a "dirty flash" by some.
With ViperXL OTA updates in particular, you should just be fine dirty flashing.
If an update to a custom ROM requires a factory reset, the dev will usually say so.
Sup XDA? Noob here...
Currently running 3.1 noticed the update is out as a full ROM and not OTA as of yet. A few questions:
- How long before it's available OTA?
- Can I install the ROM from recovery and have it essentially do the same as an OTA would? Would I keep all my files/apps using this method or will it wipe my info?
Thanks in advance for the help!

1. Turge has said that it is too big a file to be released as an ota. So it never will be an ota.
2. Yes. Just dirty flash it over your existing rom. In the installer it will ask do you want to wipe data or no. Select dont wipe data. All your setting and everything will remain. To be on the safe side backup any important files with TIBU or your favorite backup app first in case something goes wrong.

No need to wipe data if coming from Viper XL 3.0.0 or 3.1.0. The new release is a different base so there would not be an OTA. If you coming from previous version, wiping data is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Easy to install just do not choose wipe data during the install and you are good to go.
Precisely what I needed to know. Thanks so much.

Your post has nothing to do with the original topic of the thread. You should have started your own thread, or read the ViperXL thread. The lagfix discussed there may help your case.
Ough, I was in the idea I did that, guess I messed up.
I'll post in a new thread. You dont have this problem? With the phone app?

With the dialer, no. ViperXL was a bit laggy waking the screen when pressing the power button. But I didn't have the dialer lag you are talking about.
Download the Lagfix app from the Play Store and see if that helps. Also, if your SD card is pretty full, it will make most of the Sense JB ROMs laggy.
10-4, I'll work on that.
Thanks

Or leave Genuine 5.0.1?
Also asked if I wanted to experiment with installing rom
How do I keep the existing rum 5.0.1 repeatable always what should I do?:good:
Start in the general forum and look for rootSU's sticky roll up. Start by reading that. It'll have everything you need to know. Once you've read that if you still have questions feel free to ask.

When you are ready make a full backup and an "efs" it's important to store the efs off the phone. Not sure what it is? Get Reading)
I could of named a kit but you would not find anything out. In an emergency (which happens) you would have to start learning things you should have-at the worst time. Good luck on your journey!

The first thing you need to do is install a custom recovery. Use twrp. Once you have that installed make a backup of your device with it. Then you can install a rom.

Q&A for Gnabo ROM X Tab S feature
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Gnabo ROM X Tab S feature. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I'm running a old version of Hyperdrive v6 on a N8013 Android 4.1.2. According to rootchecker, my bootloader is N8013UEUCMC2 and Kernel version is 3.0.31-813049.
I was looking at Gnabo's thread and I'm wondering if I need to flash any of these, Kernel for N801X, WiFi Fix for N801X and Remove phone stuff for N801x, or are those already included in your ROM?
Thanks

I was wondering, you know that page with 6 sections that shows news and side sync. How do I open the news stories? I figured out that you can flip up and down to scroll through different stories but can't figure out how to open the story.
