is there a feature in the gear 2 that will notify / vibrate whenever you leave your phone?
I know it vibrates once when it disconnects with the phone but is there a way that it would notify more than once?

what i did with mine is if i left my phone behind and when the bluetooth disconnect, i set my gear 2 to ask for a pin code. and it will remain that way until i enter the pin to unlock the scree. and for the phone itself to lock and require an unlock pattern to use the phone. this is all available in settings of the gear manager

Is there an app to lock phone manually from my gear 2? Sometimes I don't want to wait until phone is out of range so the lock automatically function doesn't work for me. I just want an app for the gear 2 to lock phone so anyone trying to use phone has to enter pin. I use google unlock so when in range of gear 2 you do not have to enter pin to use phone.
I have a Gear S3 connected to my Note 8. I can't stand the ongoing notification for the Gear S Plugin. Is there any way to get this to go away? When I had the Nexus 6, I could block this notification.
If you push and hold on the notification, it should give you an option to turn it off.

Nope. That worked on my Nexus 6, but not on the Note 8. The only options I have are Silence Notifications or Don't Silence or Block.

I've tried both, and either way the notification stays. The choices are "Silent" or "Don't Silent or Block"

Tell me I am stupid, but I do not understand the problem.
I have a note 8 and gear s3.
What is exactly bothering you? You mean the text in the pull down notification screen? Where you can select o.a. "find my gear?"
Or switch the connection off?
Or the gear plugin message when reconnecting the gear S3?

The ongoing notification from the Gear S Plugin that says "Connected to Gear S3 via Bluetooth". The notification image that is shown always too.
I like it as clean as possible.

I understand.
I also had this "samsung connect" thingy above it. And that one can be switched off in the settings.
When I switch samsung connect off off also my Gear s3 notification image disappears.
But when disconnected/connected I always get this plugin message. E.g when I switch my phone bluetooth off and on.

This problem also exists on a gear S2 connected to a note 8. I didn't have the problem with my note 5.
Disable the plugging
Go to the Samsung connect app and under your choices you will see dashboard. Turn the watch off. It will still connect through Bluetooth. Just won't be with the Samsung connect dashboard junk. It will remove the icon plugging data as well as the Samsung connect will drop off as it's not an active connection in it. Was my only fix. Just do not delete the Samsung gear app.

This worked for me.
Also annoys the heck out of me.
I tried the method at the bottom of the first page and I thought it works but it did not the notification returns. It's an utterly worthless notification because it's not notifying you of anything you don't already know and have known for as long as you have owned the watch.
I cant get rid of the notification either,
I sometimes leave the watch downstairs, right on the edge of bluetooth connectivity. So I get allot of connection and disconnected vibrations that I want to block
I've tried changing settings on the notification but it does nothing
Use app AutoNotification to block Gear S Plugin notifications. No root needed.

Thanks for the suggestion however it didn't work on my Note 8 / Gear S2. The notifications were gone yes but so was my watches ability to unlock my phone and any notifications on my watch.

This is really stupid.
Had the same issue with Note 8 / Gear S2
Maybe the new Smart Things (replaces Smart Connect) app will fix it
I downgraded from 3.0.0.1 to 2.3.2.3 and I forgot to turn off the auto download for the update. I switched it off half way, but it stubbornly kept downloading.
Now I have the udate software notification screen constantly nagging me as well.
I'm thinking maybe the only way to get rid of it is to
1) Reflash the watch again (Don't want the hassle of doing that again if avoidable)
2) Somehow deleting the update files on the phone / or watch or wherever it is.
Anyone have any idea about option 2?

So I can do what ever I want... Copy update.zip... or delete it...
With Root Explorer for instance... require ROOT access...
Welcome in the world of Samsung... Tizen world.

I solved it!
Get the free app AutoNotification and set it up to block this lame notification. Wait until it shows up and then use the app to setup a block and pick the annoying notification and.. bye bye!
Hello all,
on my Xiaomi Mi Max I used an app which required an extra "ok" to make a phone call.
This allowed me to avoid calls made by mistake, pocket dialing etc.
I tried several apps on the 1+6 which should provide this feature - but none of them work.
Would anyone know of such an app - which works on the 1+6?
Thank you all
Put some old simcard in second slot. You'll get prompt which sim card to use everytime you make a call

Yes, thank you. That should work - but it also should reduce the battery life as now both radios in the phone work. Or not?
I am hoping to find an app - there are many in the play store but so for none of them worked on the 1+6 (the same apps work on other phones...)

Sorry - I may be slow, but how will app lock avoid for me to make unintended phone calls?
Why don't you use a lock screen? if you need to unlock by PIN, finger print etc. each time the screen is turned on, nothing bad can happen at all.

I have several times dialed people (while using the phone for other apps) by mistake. I would like to avoid that.
Hence the need for an app. It seems no one has one working on the 1+6?

Yes because it will ask for a pin or fingerprint or whatever you have set if you open up the phone app/dialer
Hey all,
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was the wrist but I can't find it anymore and it is annoying to have to manually unlock all the time.
Did this option vanish for all people? I guess it was taken away in the last update.
I am on version
March security patch / Wear 1.5
Build Number 0WDD.180215.018

Not sure about a specific option, but mine doesn't do that. Maybe because I enabled always on display. That's under developer options.
Yes there was a specific option that has totally vanished.

I have always on option under display settings then under gestures tilt to wake, touch to wake, wrist gestures.
You can also change settings in Wear OS on phone

It's not tilt to wake or gestures that is now removed from the software, it's about the unlock.
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was on the wrist so that the pin only needed to be input when you were not wearing / removed from arm and no heartrate detected.

This is crazy, now my watch asks for PIN even after 15mins since I used it. Can't use it normally
Seems that I need to ask Amazon for refund if this will work lie this.
The pin can be turned off but then it leaves the watch open if you lose it. In my case I find it accidentally does stuff while I am asleep or my daughter messes it up.

i have found that disabling the PIN also disables Google Pay. and even after re-enabling it, you have to set it up all over again.
from my understanding, the watch knows when it is on your wrist, so maybe you need to tighten the strap or check the heart rate monitor to always on.

Hmm, maybe when enabled Google Pay it removed the option.
I'll try disabling google pay and see if the option comes back - I can't use it in Germany anyway, I only want to use GPay when I am back in UK.

Before I go to sleep I put my phone on wireless charger. I wake up in the morning and it show unlock using passcode. No fingerprint or face unlock. On top of that the phone does not look like it rebooted.
That's a new security feature implemented with one UI... Basically after 4-5 hours without signing in... It will default to pin... Not sure if this can be turned off
I think it can be turned off by using smart lock, it could be connected to a certain device or location so then you can use fingerprint or face unlock.

I have the same issue glad you made the post
doesn't seem to work with smart lock either for me
Smart lock auto locks phone after 4 hours of inactivity...
You could use Samsung Routines to keep your phone unlocked.

if you use face unlock this is what happens, there is a warning about it on the bio metrics screen when you enable it.
turn it off and this goes away.
its a stupid feature for sure and just annoying AF

For me, it only asks for my password around once a week (I haven't done anything to modify the feature). It may depend on which biometric authentication you've enabled. I only use fingerprints.
Maybe auto restart is active and phone restarting itself every night so this is why at the mornings you need to enter your password.

Don't set a pin.
I'm more afraid of being accidentally locked out.
Once bitten, twice shy... hardware failures could leave it in the locked state. Got permanently locked of a mobo like that...

You didn't read the thread obviously lol, with only fingerprint enabled of course its not happening to you.
Settings > The search bar > Auto Restart > disable it
Just check if your phone is set to auto restart at night. That could also be the reason for same. I have mine set to restart every night.

You can rule out that explanation by looking in Settings | About Phone | Status | Up Time to see when the phone last rebooted.
if your uing the face unlock feature which is less secure this issue happens it will ask for your pin time to time which is annoying.
disable that and problem goes away
