Hi,
I was trying to change the ISO value on my nexus 5 and I discovered that google camera has not this feature. Therefore I tried to use another app (Camera FV-5 light) that allows the ISO selection but is seems that this option is disabled on my nexus 5 (grey colour of the writing and nothing happens if you click on it).
Then I installed the same app on the nexus 7 and this option works allowing to select the ISO.....
Is it a problem of my phone or of all nexus 5 devices?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance for the help!

the reason why its not in the google camera nor aosp camera app, and grayed out camera fv-5, is because the nexus 5 doesnt have the capability, it isnt available for the camera. so it shows up grayed out.

Thank you for the help! This means that it is an hardware issues? Or there is the possibility that the iso control will come with a future update?
It is a little displeasing to heard about since nexus 7 has this setting even with a lower (or almost not better) camera.....

i dont think its hardware, i think its software related. but google is doing many new good things with the cam, lots of new code they are working on and that they already put out for developers to start working on.. i think iso will come.

I hope so! But sorry.....a further opinion (since I'm not an expert of hardware or software matters)...
If it is only software related, why if I change app (from Google Camera to, eg, Camera FV-5 light) still I miss the ISO setting?
Is it depend on the OS? But why on Nexus 7 with the same OS and Camera FV-5 light I'm able to do it?
Thank you again!

again, because its not enabled to do so. if not enabled, an app isnt going to change things(maybe a root app that changes system files). as of right now, it cant.
I have an app called "pro capture" which offers "exposure" settings to + or - 2. I'm not sure exactly what this does. Typically exposure is a combination of aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
ISO is a sensitivity to light. Exposure compensation in a real camera would adjust the the shutter if you were in aperture priority mode. It would adjust the aperture if you were in shutter priority mode. None of these are controllable on the nexus so not sure what this app is doing. Some sort of software post processing I imagine.
Here are a couple of shots with + 2, 0 and - 2

Is it worth buying the app? Probably not. I bought it for wide-screen shots but I only use Google now as it has higher than 2mpix wide now.
Does it benefit us in anyway? Probably not other than avoiding brightening a dark image in a image editor afterwards

Does anyone know of a camera app that allows for separate exposure and focus. There are tons of option on iOS that do this (Camera+, Camera Awesome, etc...). On my jailbroken iPhone 4s I was even able to tweak the stock camera to do this.
I was thrilled to see Camera Awesome finally come to Android, only to learn that this feature is not supported on the Moto X.
I thought this might be a shortcoming of the underlying android camera functionality, but Camera Awesome lets you do this on the HTC One. Is this somehow limited by specific manufacture? I'm willing to pay for this feature, but I can't find an app that let me do this on the Moto X.
I've tried Camera Zoom FX, which lets you use the volume rocker to adjust exposure. But thats just not the same as being able to touch what you want in focus, then touch where you want to meter the exposure.
I also looked at Camera FV-5, and Vignette. There are both decent apps, but nothing I've found lets you use a 2-finger tap to separate focus selection and exposure.
Does anyone know how to bring this to the Moto X?

No, I didn't realize that. Looking at the camera now (I have version 3.1.5) I don't see a way to do that. The only setting that is close it being able to set the focus point. If I try to tap and hold, or drag my finger to set a different exposure point it just takes mulitple photos.
How do you get an exposure square to show up?
If it matters I'm on Republic Wireless with Android 4.2.2. Is that the issue?
Thanks for the help!
Look for Focal in the play store
It's buried a bit in the app's settings but it is there

Yes that is the issue. This functionality is added in 4.4
Im running 4.4 with Camera version 3.1.41 and it has it....
4.4 has this feature? How do you separate exposure from focus? I see that I can drag the circle around, but isn't that setting both the exposure AND the focus? OP wants to set exposure and focus on separate points.

Although it is still in beta, "focal" in the app store is free and awesome and has separate focus and exposure points. It is buggy but gives you a ton of control.
Sent from my XT1053 using xda app-developers app
As others have mentioned, the app Focal. Just make sure you set the image size correctly, or you'll get a blank pic.

This camera is nice but missing some options I really liked and used a lot. I had some nice cameras in the past on custom ROMs. Anybody know of any camera apps that give you more options? I'm looking for when you take a pic you can filter out certain colors. Not sure what the features are really called.

Personally by far the best is 'A Better Camera'.
Besides being totally manual in its controls it has an immense amount of settings you can apply.
It's the only app that controls not just exposure and white balance but ISO as well.
Camera FV-5 shows it too can change ISO but the second you use it you soon notice the ISO never actually changes in the shot taken.
When you use A Better Camera ensure you swipe the screen twice to gain access to the options for each swipe.
How about camera 360?

Interesting.... I can see Metering, White Balance, Exposure and ISO.
Anything else?
Unfortunately the developer has not released a free or trial version thus making it difficult to download, especially when you have A Better Camera and Camera FV-5 to try before buying.
If it were based on filters alone I would chose the free and very good Camera 360 app.
However, I am always on the lookout for a great camera app and have not tried Camera 2.

I actually never heard of it. Went to best buy yesterday and I guess someone had installed it on an s5. So I tried it there and then bought it. It has those settings and pic effects. You should be able to buy and try it. Then if you don't like it you can refund. I've done that with many apps. I believe as long as you do the refund in I think 15 min

Thanks... You are right it is 15 mins and to be honest that's nowhere near enough time to try a camera app out.
Don't get me wrong, it may be a very good app but with only a 15 minute returns window on apps that obviously need much longer to test I wish it were mandatory for developers to offer you trials or lite versions.
Until then I'll pass but I'm very pleased you found an app you are happy with.
Hi,
I got CM 11S flashed on my Chinese OPO, boot loader unlocked and rooted.
But the cam results are terrible.
1. Front camera though 5MP has better results.
2. Main camera, in Auto mode wit Flash set at auto, doesn't flash in darkness, if for some reason it does the pic results are so dull, creamy unsharp, despite that its a 13MP.
3. Flash sensor issues?
4. I got great results with Color OS initially......... and later when previously flashed CM 11 S over Color, they weren't that bad either..........may be by chance the the Color cam got ported over CM 11S?
5. So disappointed plan on going back to Color.
Any suggestions, recommendations,
Thanks.
Yeah, i'm not a fan of the camera. AT ALL.
Some things that bug me about the One's camera:
1) pictures look destaurated and color's don't pop.
2) exposure is too dark in almost all cases
3) sharpness is no where near my nexus's 5 stock camera.
Nexus 5's camera is MUCH better.
Unless someone can tell me how to improve this, I just hate the one's camera. sucks.

My phone's issue is cam sucks with CM 11S?
When I got it CM 11S with cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot OR cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed results of cam were not bad.
But with this OPO_64GB cam sucks.
Thanks.
For the camera, I don't know what to tell you, but it sees like you just want to modify the camera shutter and exposure settings to your preference. Or you can go into the themes/app section and reflash the stock camera.

I would have to manually over expose the camera EVERY TIME i launch the camera app. Annoying.
I've already installed Google Camera. The stock OnePlus camera and some other ones from the play store.
They all give the same results.
It's fundamentally a camera sensor issue.

Yea, that sounds amiss; personally, I haven't had any noticeable issues with my camera.
But shouldn't the settings persist though, so you don't have to do it EVERY time?
Am a a bit confused........does the Color cam give bad results or CM 11S cam?
Stock OnePlus camera and Google camera have similar results.....What do you imply by stock OP cam?
Is Google cam available at GPS, should I try installing it over CM 11S?
Camera sensor issues are with Color OS?
Thanks.

I see. Let me know if you still have any problems with it. The problem is that we can't test with all devices on every ROM. And complexity is very high now, because we have lot's of different processing, not only capture image and save, as other cameras. Hope we'll cope with Android fragmentation soon for 100%

Yes. I still have the problem with the latest release. I bought the 'unlock all forever' option. It cost me £4. I've never been able to use it. Like I said before. Every single other camera app on Android works fine on my device.
Your app has been broken for the last year and a half, despite various updates. There's also the fact it's asking me to re-purchase the unlock now.
By far my worst software experience on Android since I first got a phone with Gingerbread. I'd recommend staying well away from this product until improvements are made.
Great app! But on LG G2 there is a "mw_continuous_picture" focus mode and your camera do not use it and so it is not able to turn on the flash to focus in low light condition. Please add support for that focus mode.
Thanks.

As I mentioned, it's rather complex software comparing to other apps. We're now concentrated on support all android devices with official ROM, after that we can check with CM. However we have feedback that it's working fine on some devices with CM.
If you have troubles - you should ask for refund. About asking to pay again - seems you bought using inapps. It's not possible to pay twice, but it can ask if data from play services wasn't updated on first start.

What is Super Sensor? It's our all-in-one solution to improve camera!
Can be used:
- in low light - resolution improvement, noise reduction, shadow recovery
- when bright back-light causes object of interest to be lost in shadows. Super Sensor recover automatically and noise-free
- scenes with beach and snow - automatic adjustment of typical auto-exposure failures (no user interaction!). What should be white is white now. Low-contrast details are not lost but enhanced. Miniature details revealed.
- Due to DR enhancement by up to 18db, high dynamic range scenes are handled well by Super Sensor.
- Super zoom - presenting a zoomed-in image from mobile device can be a frustrating experience. Not with Super Sensor.
- Perfect for documents: superior resolution and contrast maximisation. Always.
Super mode will be available in A Better Camera new release
All provided examples are UNALTERED and taken on stock Nexus 5 with SuperSensor!

Thanks for reply! We're already testing this issue. So I hope it'll be available soon!
Just tried SuperSensor on my N5 v1.5 (Feb 22nd) and it is fantastic, much better results than the first versions.
My choice camera app in GOOD LIGHT: for detailed 18MPx photos, digital zoom and in high contrast situations that Google Camera cant handle.
My only but is low light, here I find that Google Camera HDR+ mode is sharper (requires to boost exposure in editing though), probably because SuperSensor uses higher and noisier ISOs that blur detail?
THANKS!!!
Hi
I tried A LOT of cameras, yours for me is the best one!
Just a question: samsung stock camera has light metering modes, such as spot, center weighted, matrix, etc...
There's a specific issue for this lack of functionality on your (and other's) camera?
A Better Camera has auto, matrix, center-weighted, and spot metering too. Pull the settings panel down from the top; it's in there.

use the samsung s7 gcam port, works well with my a750f
It didn't work for me. Which version of gcam you are using?
It also didn´t work for me. When I tap the shutter it always goes to restart my phone. Which version and which settings do you exactly use, please?
I have read this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a8-2018/help/google-camera-galaxy-a8-2018-t3840838/page2 and in this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77603383&postcount=170 there is this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eKlaHEyw97QcOe8_6pgVmmLs0ho31KrK/view with GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__N6_1.8.apk
It`s working for both front and rear cameras (with active HDR too). I have tested literally every option including video and everything works ok and save correctly.
But for some reason even if full 24MP are selected in the settings I only get 8MP pictures which is really frustrating. I`ll continue my search for better working variant.

I'm using Google Camera Idan 1109 ver. 3.2.9 previous SG7Exy_v8 (exynos).
It is important that don't use a flashlight, just turn it off and after install reboot the phone.
Only one custom camera app works. Stock and one custom that's all.
My conclusion even the phone has a 24mpx the camera works terribly.
I have xioami 4x and it bits this A7 2018 as hell in google camera photo compare.
I don't know why the 24mpx camera is so weak.
Wide camera doing a good job

Does the portrait mode works for you? For me it reboots the phone.
It`s working alright. Both for rear and for the front camera. Also with or without flash, with or without hdr. Also with burst series (taking pics as fast I can press the button).
As I said in my previous post I tested every single option to see if it`s really stable and at least for me everything works really stable.
The only problem is that it doesn`t save them as 24MP even if it is set in the options. It`s always 8MP size.
Strange. My phone reboots every time I select the portrait mode. Did you change any configs?
Nothing aside in the settings you can see in the screenshot in my earlier post.
The only thing I did may be differently before installation was to turn off the hdr in the build in camera app as per advise from somewhere. After that I went and turn it on and there were no problems at all. So now I have normally working samsung camera app and the gcam one. I can switch whatever I want in the apps and there are no problems.
I also have another camera app - CameraZoomFX (paid) with turned on Camera2 API and it also work ok with every available setting. I have even used them all at the same time to test what would happen - well nothing really. Everything works ok.
Did you enable camera2api on your phone is yes. How?
From here
Btw yesterday I have tried many other versions for exynos cpus but only GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__N6_1.8.apk worked ok all around.
Most of the other apps crashed on the start or I got to the options but the apps crashed few minutes after that.
What app is this from?

I have already wrote it? Camera Zoom FX Premium https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom , but I think that the free version would also let you select this option.
Aside from gcam and camera zoom I am currently testing few other apps:
HD Camera Pro (paid)
LG camera 7.1
Camera FV-5
CameraMX
Open Camera
After more than 700 pictures taken side by side with each app I have come to the conclusion that as for sharpness, details and balanced light HD Camera Pro is the best for indoors and Camera Zoom FX for outside day and night photography.
This ordeal took me over a week to do but was worth it.
The only problems with all these apps is that none of them supports the wide camera, it`s only available in the integrated samsung camera app.
I still hope for some time in the future we will got our hands on fully functional Gcam port with wide camera support. And I think that it would beat all of the above apps. I hope it would happen sooner than later.
I think the same. I hope Samsung will fix this. Is it possible to disable bokeh effect? I hate it because details are terrible

Just install the APK or root is necesary to install API?
I cant open Gcam in my A 7 2k18 what to do ? Every time i tap to camera icon it say camera keep stoping close app !
@Kalpsmart7 I somehow missed your post so I apologize for the late reply.
This is my way of fixing the problem.
Go into the apps section to the gcam app and force close it.
Then clear the cache for the app.
Then turn off HDR into the main camera app.
After that start the gcam app - it should start working normally.
Then you can go into the main camera app and turn on HDR again as it would not cause any more problems.
But as I said in my earlier posts although you can set the resolution at 24MP the end result will be in only 8MP.
I don`t know the reason for this problem but for now it`s like that. If I find other working port I`ll test it again.
