[YALFT] Yet Another Lag Fix Thread - AT&T LG G3

Hi guys, the LG G3 has some serious specs as well as some serious lag issues. Most of you have noticed that the device is not as smooth as other competor devices such as the M8, Nexus 5, etc.
I have gotten my device to optimal performance without the need of any thermal setting nor ART. Im currently running over 10+ xposed modules without any problem no lag whatsoever.
Here are the things I did (Its quite simple actually) (And yes this requires root)
1.) Removed the cruddy stock LG launcher that has some serious response issues and installed an alternative such as GNL.
2.) Removed all the bloat that came preinstalled.
3.) Download the app Trickster Mod and (I recommend making these settings except C stick so that theyre applied on boot.)
A.) Go to general and set the CPU Governor to "Performance".
B.) Go to specific and set the GPU Governor to "Performance" as well.
C.) This one is for extra performance but note that it is EXTREMELY unstable and has caused my device to randomly crashed multiple occasion so be careful with this one. Go to Specific and enable "ZRAM".
D.) Just an extra one just because.. Go to Screen and set the Red, and Green colors to 240 and leave Blue at 255 and you will get some more pleasant colors. (Not a performance tweak but just though i would share.)
4.) Completely optional but helps. Install Gravity box (DONT DO ANYTHING IN THE APP) then go to settings, developer, then change the animation speed to 75%. 75% is perfect as its not to slow nor to fast like 50%.
5.) Add these tweaks to your build prop (Tested and working). These are the tweaks I use for my ROMS and they help dramatically. Copy any paste it from HERE. Or download the build prop and place it in your system from HERE. (Remember to give it 644 permissions OR ELSE )
Regarding battery life, I have not noticed any difference and i've ran this setup for a week now.

You do know that performance governors stay at the max frequency at all times right?

Yup, but it has not affected my battery nor gotten unstable in any way. I've had it like this for a week and have seen nothing but improvement.

I can set my stuff to performance in system tuner..... It turns up all the cores to max. Obviously it will be snappier.
I shouldn't have to delete my launcher. That's stupid honestly. Your argument is invalid for those who don't want new launchers.
Post something similar to this that shows cpu times

Battery life wouldn't be my concern doing this. My primary concern would be the heat it generated

I noticed that only 2 cores were on when doing heavy tasks and the other 2 were almost always offline or idle. That may have something to do with it. Ill post some battery screenshots once I drain it tomorrow.

Once i undid the thermal daemon tweak the amount of heat produced was very minimal. Its always stayed cool, i've only had it heat up once when using a intensive app for a long period of time.
If you guys are skeptical test it out for yourself you will notice a major improvement and battery should be unaffected.

C.) This one is for extra performance but note that it is EXTREMELY unstable and has caused my device to randomly crashed multiple occasion so be careful with this one. Go to Specific and enable "ZRAM".
I wouldn't advise you recommending this one if it causes phones to be unstable. Crashing phones is more annoying than lag.

I'm on Nova just want your professional opinion. Do you think Google Now Launcher (GNL) is snappier than Nova?

What exactly do the build.prop tweaks do and are there any risks that go along with them?

It honestly depends on the user. I see both launchers as fast and extremely smooth. If your not having problems with nove then keep it, if so then try out GNL.

They are supposed to change some of the core settings of the device, mainly it focuses on GPU performance and UI Draw. No there are not any risks i've fully tested them for a very long time now.

The following was taken in order of stock clock to 1300mhz. On Otb Reloaded 1.6. Govenor set to performance to keep cpu from scaling down and scheduler was the defualt. Benchmarks I am not going to argue over so don't bother waisting your time. Performance may also vary as I find either otb or voltage control to be weird at times. Also these are not peaks.
What was removed:
Bloat uscc apps, Some samsung useless memory hog apps, Touchwiz launcer, Stock dialer, Stock mms, Probably some other stuff that is minor,
What was addded:
Phoenix reloaded boot animation from my desire phoenix, 100 percent charge and discharge battery icons/mods, Go launcher, Go plug-ins, Go Contacts, Go Sms, Themed menus, Themed icons, Reboot options, Puzzle lock, Themed market. Blue themed gingerbread keyboard Miui Themed music player, Superuser, Esfile Explorer, Voltage control app, Updated apps that are on the market, Updated host so adds are blocked (No need to use any type of blocker), added malware fix and possibly forgetting something else.
Tweaks done not found in any other rom for the mes:
Entire rom was optimized. This means that rendering images will be quicker in the included apps, possibly gained battery life, and a smaller foot print to boot.
Apps that receive updates or stock apps people may not like that is still in the rom. Are moved to data on boot. This means no duplicates in system or data when the app would get a update. Also means some stock apps can be removed from manage applications.
Entire rom was zip aligned when built.
Added zipalign on boot to the data partition. Why only the data partition? Only it should need done since the rom was. Google zipalign to see what it really does.
Added memory tweaks.
Added ram tweaks so the rom wasn't so laggy. It also will allow multi-tasking a bit better. You will see the quickness once installed. Also by the above screen shots. This should help with battery life also. I play to much to document the truth or not so someone will have to see. There is also some other features I may be missing out on.
Install Instuctions:
Download the following file and place it on you sd-card:http://2fastroms.com/dm_eds/download.php?id=20
Will be under install instructions.
FIRST DISABLE LAG FIX and be on ee19.
Wipe/format data followed by format system. (Even though the updater-script does this. I still get issues not doing it. Then install zip > Phoenix-Reloaded-1.1.zip
Wait for install to finish and reboot. Reboot may take a min or two so don't freak out. Once booted proceed to the setup instructions.
Setup Instuctions:
First you need to setup go sms to work right since the stock was removed. Go to it and open it. Read the little messages if you want. Then hit menu when at the message screen. Go to settings>important tips>stock sms releated. Check mark stock sms uninstalled. Go back to settings and mms settings. Set maximum mms size to 1m (Max uscc allows).
Go back to settings and Send Settings. Check mark split large messages.
Go back to the home screen. Hit the contacts icons setting it to use default go contacts. Also dial *228 for good measure. I believe this is it.
Questions:
Help I am roaming or get poor service. Try to move from the spot you are if signal is low and perform a prl update using *228. If it doesn't work try a few times with better signal till the roaming indicator goes off. If it doesn't I am not to sure what to say.
Help my data keeps going dormant. Trying to access the web you get a prompt about your connection. Only way I found to fix it was to odin 2.1 checking repartition. Then update to ec-10 to ee-19. You might get away with doing ec-10. I have yet to find the real cause to it but this isn't the only rom affected.
Support:
Official support will be at my forum at the following link: http://www.2fastroms.com So if you have a problem and I don't answer on here right away please make a post on the forum. Where one of my staff will relay the message to me.
Credits:
Ante for the base on the market.
Fab for the gingerbread keyboard port.
Avreen & Nrosier for the style of the original Battery Icon.
The guys that designed the g4 icons.
Phidelt82 for the one jar file to enable puzzle lock.
Opps forgot a credit that I didn't mean to. Which was the creator of some of the blue icons and a few other pieces from the steel blue theme. I know Phidelta82 I believe did the port but unsure of the real maker at the moment. In which if someone kindly said who or they contacted me. I will add the said person.
Also for future reference before pulling something out of my rom to put in another one. At least ask first. Don't take it the wrong way as I don't mind to help or share anything. The other thing is it may not work or cause other issues depending on what is nabbed.
First!. Had to say it
Keep up the good work

Did you flash it or just first to post in the thread? lol Thanks either way. If you flashed it let me know how it goes. I missed the icons on the power menu but I will get them when I get done building aosp.
Nice Work
Hey i flashed it and it works well only thing i see is when i switched to OTB ver 1.3 the bootanimation has the android flashing in and out while the orig us cellular animation is still running. not a big deal thou.
also the media scanning icon in the status bar is sometimes themed and somtimes not. again not a big deal.
otherwise very nice work
Edit: i flashed this in CwM2.5 then put 3.0 back on so didnt think to ask if this was amend or edify script?
Awesome, its great to see more devs for the mesmerize. Welcome
My thoughts exactly. Looks like quality work too. May through this on and try it out next day or two when I get some time. Thanks to you and all the devs for making this phone rock.
Tap-a-Talked.
I flashed this last night, also running the tw1.3 kernel, could use a custom boot animation to fix the dueling boot animation, also the launcher still seems a little laggy but everything works and looks nice, would the ec10 no clock work with this? I may just give it a whirl and check later today seems like quality work. It worked fine flashing over pnp v.5 with just a cache and dalvik wipe.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
The launcher isn't laggy if lagfix is enabled. Then go to adw settings > zoom effect > set it to around 400. Then screen pref's > desktop scrolling > set to around 225.
If you still get lag then it isn't a problem with the rom but the kernel my phone runs better on the stock kernel with no lag fix. With any of the kernels I get constant force closes and reboots. Along with lag out the rear. Not talking crap about the kernels but a few reasons why it happens is the scheduler sucks and so does the default govenor. Like right now I am running otb also where my phone hates it. On the stock voltage settings. I can even lower nearly every clock by 100mv's and my phone will run fine but still the same problems as not touching the voltages.
I recommend to ditch sio then use cfq or bfq as my phone seems to like those a little better. The other is conservative plain sucks for performance. It might be better for battery life but that is a debate for another day. On demand doesn't seem to be much better really. I plan to compile a kernel and see what I can do with it.
As for the boot animation I have a boot animation made. Just can't get it to work on the mes but work fine on the desire. Still have to look at that. The ec-10 no clock I am guessing removes the clock on the taskbar? If so it should be fine. I haven't looked at it as I prefer the clock where it is .
Can someone do me a favor and go to my forum website using the web browser? Does the web browser reboot when the pop up for tapatalk comes up or is it just me? All other web sites work fine that I tried but none have tapatalk I tried.
Edit: This also doesn't you a updater-script but your old plain update-script. So clockworkmod 2.5 is needed. Forgot to put that in the first post I converted it to updater where it installs but won't boot so I have to look at it when I get time.
Tried the no clock mod and it works fine, also tried the browser and I had no reboot of it at your site, though previously when I loaded the rom the wallpaper wasn't there when I loaded the no clock mod it was. Did some fooling around in voltage control 1300oc/25uv seems to have fixed the lag issue. Also changed scheduler to cfq.

Odd it does for me As I said my phone hates the kernels we have... The wallpaper should have loaded though as it does for me. As I put it as the default in the framework. I will have to look at it though.
whats quadrant scores on this ROM at stock speeds??? trying to figure out whether this is just a different, nice looking ROM or if its a lil faster....btw...nice work...great to see a new dev on the scene!!!
Where did you find the MiuiMusic?
My phone has none of those other problems. Still running the sio scheduler with no lag and to cc or reboots. Ran quadrent and got 1650. Music player works great too.

Quad scores I can tell you in a few... As for the miui I honestly couldn't tell you as I had it for a bit. I just changed some of the colors. I think I got it on here out of a tab part of the forum.
I was actually looking to see if anyone had tried to port the file manager. Found a few ports of the music app. None worked on the girls desire. So kept trying to find on that would work right.
Edit: Just ran quad 6 times. Using I believe the kernel gas has in his rom as I haven't changed it since I flashed his rom to check out the lockscreens. My phone hates this kernel but with setcpu to set the governor to performance on the stock clock. Using cfq I pulled on the first run a 1510 then peaked at a 1598. I wouldn't expect what I did to show much in a bench but will affect image rendering when loading the apps I have installed.

You guys suck then as I am not that lucky, Guess it is time for me to due something to mine to get a new one since plastic polish and the mes screen doesn't work to well... It creates what looks like cracks if you blow on the phone or from the grease on your fingers. Pretty annoying...
Uscc has a Zach screen and phone protector so far its the best I've seen. It costs 30 bucks but is worth it to me. Its military grade originally made for field gps and radios bonds permanently to phone also includes a lifetime warrenty. Salesman said couldn't cut with knife didn't believe him but gf kid proved him right. One associated swooping later was very impressed also have very sore hand lol

It has a screen protector now. This was the week I got it and somehow got two big scratches before I even started really using it I don't even remember the brand I got but is the rubbery type feeling one with the lifetime warranty.
Yep I've had the zagg invisible shield protectors for many phones. I was thrilled when uscc started stocking them. I'm rough on phones (just ask my wife) and these things are indestructible.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I accidently came across the first one I had and I was like HELL YAH. lol so i have not really looked at anything else. The launcher they are working on with the fascinate built on top of touchwiz so everything works. Their latest test build boot loops for me.
Got a link? I don't pay much attention to the fascinate/mess crowd more so do I on the desire.
Any way we can get this for the showcase

I've not fully tested the quantity of decrease in battery life with all this modifications.
I'm sure that the increase of general responsiveness and the better scrolling will bring some penalties in the battery life. I'm gonna test this in the next days, to see how it really affects..
It would seem that turning off the animations would increase the battery life.
Scribbled with my S-Pen
I would not recommend turning on "force gpu rendering." Some apps will not open or work correctly with this checked. It may also cause your device to run hot and drain your battery faster. There is no real word benefit to having it turned on.

Yepp, removing bloatware, disabling animations and installing greenify will boost your battery life..
Forcing the GPU rendering, removing the scroll cache and playing with the several "pimp my rom" parameters may decrease your battery life..
I'm gonna do a following in battery consumption this next days and see how much impacts in battery life..

It's real useful with Rogue Apps that remain active in all circumstances.. Greenify put them in hibernation (like iOS multitasking) not consuming then battery and resources..
This way you can control the "sometimes" dangerous Android Multitasking, only allowing in background the apps you really want..
I think it's really useful in the Note 3 due to it's huge performance.. you never notice if an app has been hybernated or it's actually running in background, the CPU wokes both of them nearly instantaniouslly.. and you gain in some cases real battery life..
Sounds good, some questions though
Is it possible to grennify apps that is schedule to run every night?
Are there any consequences to hibernate system apps?

Grennify apps that need to run on a schedule will cause them not to run on schedule. All greenify does is keep apps from running till you manually click on app.

Yepp.
You also have the option not to Greenify that apps.
I only have problems with "Google Keep" notifications, Whattsapp, Gmail, etc, don't give any problems at all..

Sincerely I don't know for sure, but the old customized ROMs and the new one's have it disabled to boost performance..

This is a great guide. The only issue I ran into was with Google Play Music app, the album artwork was acting up. Turned the Animator Scale back to 0.5x and I was back in business.

A possible cause of heavy lag

Developing few themes I've found out what is one possible cause of the heavy lag (and with that I mean the phone gets unusable. Seconds without reactions) I can get since when I upgraded to Lollipop. In a simple word: themes.
That's 100% certified, I tested and retested it again. In more specific details at least in my case i discovered that if the Navigation bar button for exchanging keyboard isn't properly sized - and it will hardly be since the Sony Theme Creator is messy with those particular icons - the skinner may go banana.
There are other bugs as well (try to install the same theme over the current theme), but the one above is probably the most nasty. The obvious workaround is to apply a different theme (the plain, boring stock ones don't define any asset) and maybe reboot, but if you want to see a bit more in detail if something is wrong with your current theme do the following (requires root):
- Download the Theme Debugger
- Check the size of the keyboard button in the bottom right like in those picture (left is ok, right - which is a stock theme - is an example of things going wrong) :
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Open Theme Debugger
- Click on the top left menu (3 dots) and choose "Restart System UI"
Now check the size of the keyboard button again. If it changes in size, like if it is too small or too big or if the landscape and portrait version do not match (they get stretched in one direction or the other) you most likely have the issue. Inform the theme developer (with a couple of screenshots) and on the meantime use a different theme. Oh, don't blame the developer, it's the skinner to be effed up.
I hope this helps!
or... You can discover that you have a crappy app called ROM ToolBox Pro which hasn't been updated in a year and with Lollipop it went banana and set the at boot the minfree values to a ridiculously low value. The ugly thing is that there is a sort of "bug" with the minfree in Lollipop (at least with the SnapDragon 400, the Moto G has the same issue), the file
Code:
/sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
is write only (permissions "--w--w----" instead of -rw-r---r--") so the app above couldn't read the minfree values but it did write them (discovered enabling the full log in SuperSU).
Still the thing about the themes partially applies. With low minfree values the skinner did crash in the situation mentioned. Also if one updates the active theme (as in installs a new version over it) after the reboot the theme has gone (but it shows as if it was selected). Hopefully we'll get an update fixing all these little annoying issues (plus the GPS and camera fixes, sure).
Can i set rwrr for minfree?

Sure, you can play with the minfree as much as you like. They are volatile files, they get recreated after each reboot (so if it gets stuck just restart the phone). Which also means that if you want to make any modification permanent you should add it in a /etc/init.d script.
Apparently I fixed once for all the lag that has been infesting my phone for months. Other than the couple of things I already mentioned (and yes, the wrong minfree was simply a nightmare), what made it more constantly fluid now has been the following: In settings do:
Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Store, Clear data and Clear cache
Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Services > Manage space, Clear all data and Clear cache
I used that as a suggestion for installing FaceBook returning error 504 (but I've found out that what really fixed the FB installation was to uninstall FB Messenger. What a piece of junk) and no, it isn't placebo effect, I waited few days to be sure. Also apparently the 787 Mhz went from a 50-50 with the 1190Mhz to a 70-30.
Oh well, I just thought could be useful to share!
Hi !
In Lollipop When the brightness is more than 25% phone starts lagging
When the phone is connected to a charger or computer is not Lag phone!
I got Repair Pc companion! But the phone's lag !
This problem can be solved???
It depends on what you define as lag at this point. If you followed this thread you see that it took me months to get a rid of the lag on my phone. Yet if after repairing the phone with PC Companion it's still lagging, either your phone is damaged or you're too much lag sensitive.

I am quite sure the ROM has nothing to do with it. Still I'm using the Custom IT version, which is the one of my phone.
But if after a repair with PC Companion, no apps, no data your phone really lags most likely you have an HW issue. Try to see if taking out the SIM and SD cards it still lags. If the phone really lags changing the brightness it may be damaged.
Then if your lag is just some nearly imperceptible micro stuttering.. deal with it. That can be normal.
I just tried to be on the phone while brightness is on 100%, and I must say it is lagging for me too.
It is not some brutal lag or idk, but it is noticeable.
Check the recording:
2016_01_24_15_30_00.mp4
As seen it is not something major, but it can be noticed lol.

The problem is that the video on my laptop lags by itself, it fries the CPU. I tried to watch it on PS3 and on my television and the codecs aren't recognized. You need a better screen recorder.
Still even with the lag induced by the player it didn't seem that bad, the apps were opening quite fast. Then it's an Xperia M2, we can't expect the performances of an Xperia Z5 (and let's forget an iPhone 6S ). Also you had to show the difference with brightness at zero to compare.
In any case, when I wrote heavy lag I meant that with the wrong minfree values I was waiting even a minute to open certain apps. That was absurd indeed. Fixed that I still had some lag, like when unlocking the screen. The sequence was jumping. Or the keyboard could take ages to load (it still does it sometimes, but not that bad). Clearing the Google Play Service data fixed that as well. But the micro stuttering when scrolling has been there since ever, KitKat included. No matter the brightness, at least on my phone. I just triple checked it now, maybe it's an optical effect. Being higher the brightness the lags gets more more evident, I don't know
Yeah, I am checking it again with brightness zero. Scrolling the home drawer's panels it micro stutters. I'm so used to it that I don't even consider it lag. Well, at least that's me.

Actually I have the same question. I've checked a bit around few days ago and in Google Play they are all getting not excellent reviews. At least the ones I've seen. Which is annoying becauseI've read the Z3 (and above, I suppose) has one made by Sony, integrated in the ROM (it was for KitKat, not sure if it went to Lollipop as well). So if you ever find a good one. please let me know.

Here check this out: https://youtu.be/j5WYd28rhi4
I installed the highest rated app "Telecine" and I must say I have never recorded a smoother video of my phone.
It was smoother than the actuall use xD
But it kinda lacks some features, like saving location etc.
Anyways here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jakewharton.telecine :good:
EDIT: After testing a few apps, I am thinking between AZ Screen Recorder (which I used before, and after enabling 60fps in settings recording is smooth as in Telecine) and Telecine.
AZ Screen Recorder is packed with all features, but I need to do some more testing. Here: https://youtu.be/64xyaASGO9M - This is a recording with default resolution and 60fps. It is smooth, really smooth.
And this is a recording in 720p, also 60fps: https://youtu.be/t_XS3ZZFZkE - Tell me if there is some difference, because I dont see it.
Altough, Telecine is simple as f***, it lacks some features.
So check those two of course.
@junk031 we are vastly off topic, but whatever...
So I checked the two video players. Telecine is quite limited and then it started crashing. I removed it immediately. AZ Recorder seems good. I liked the option to change the audio track. Too bad that it doesn't work. Unless it doesn't like my AAC format. But it did play it on the preview (just the audio).
Anyway, the most important thing is that I can play the recorded videos from my laptop without it frying. So I can do any editing from it. As I always do anyway, I hate to operate from the phone!!

About:
Helix Engine is a tool to help improve the efficiency of your device.
With the use of the Accessibility Service, Helix Engine is able to dynamically switch between different performance profiles automatically without any user interaction. With App Engine, users can configure what app they want to set for which profile, this will be used for the Accessibility Service to determine what profile to switch to when that particular app is detected as currently in use. Users are also able to configure each profile to their liking.
Helix Engine supports all ARM/ARM64 SoCs, from Android Nougat and above. It is recommended that you do not use any other tools that may modify any of the components in the profile customisation page to prevent any conflicts with this tool.

Requirements:
- Root (I think this is obvious but just in case it's not...)
- An ARM (32-bit ARMv7) or ARM64 (64-bit ARMv8) SoC
- Android 7.0 or above
- No other modifications which may tweak kernel tunables automatically (e.g. Advanced Kernel Tweaks, LSpeed, HEBF etc.)
Click to collapse
Features:
- App Engine
Battery: Low-performance mode to save power on apps that don't need that much power (e.g. Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Reddit, apps that are generally for browsing)
Balanced : The default profile for all apps and newly installed apps. Apps that you think requires a decent amount of power, but not as much as the power intensive applications suitable for performance profile.
Performance : High-performance mode to enable buttery smooth gaming, as well as exceptional benchmark performance (if you are into that sort of thing). Also useful for very power intensive tasks like backup managers, file explorers (when transferring large files), media editing tools, camera apps, launchers (for fast app launches) etc.
Whitelist : Helix Engine will detect these apps and will avoid applying any profile when they are in use. Useful for apps such as keyboards when they become the top-app when the keyboard appears on the screen, avoids unecessary profile switching.
The engine detects which app is currently in use (in the top-app group), and will apply the profile's configuration according to the profile you've set the app to automatically. For example, the battery profile's configuration is applied when an application that has been set to the battery profile has been detected as currently running. Apps set to balanced will apply the balanced profile's configuration. Apps set to performance will apply the performance profile's configuration. Apps set to whitelist will be ignored (i.e. no profile changes from the previous profile that was applied when the whitelisted app is in the top-app group).
Multi select feature: Check the boxes by pressing on the checkbox or the card of each app to select them, a FAB will appear which will allow you to batch set a profile to the selected apps.
Auto Whitelist: (Some apps will not show in the App Engine page, as they are auto-whitelisted to prevent Helix Engine from unnecessarily switch profiles)
- Profile Customization
Users can also configure each profile configuration to their personal preferences. Each configuration should be unique to its own profile.
- Auto Mode (Experimental)
Helix Engine will automatically adjust profile values per-app to attempt to achieve the target jank percentage.
- Backup and restore configs:
Save your App Engine and Profiles configurations and restore them at any time with ease.[/U][/B]
- View system apps
Allows you to change profiles for system apps (if disabled, all system apps will use balanced by default).
- Search function in App Lists
Search through app lists using the search button in the action bar.
- Dark theme

Depends on what app you use, for battery apps, it may feel slower than normal (to prevent these battery apps from draining unnecessary amount of power). However, games and using the launcher should have no problems as it'll execute the performance profile. If battery profile is too slow for you, I'll discuss it over in my team so we can tune it a bit more towards better performance (at cost of a bit of battery).
This is currently in BETA so there will be some hiccups here and there, we will need feedback from a lot of people so we can fine tune it some more until most people are satisfied.
I'm literally blown away or maybe over whelmed by that OP.
been using for a few hours........browsing.....watching video....taking picture. had it freeze on me while in the camera, after zooming, takign picture, and moving the phone it froze. had to power down because my phone went totally unresponsive. im idle drain is insane though. down to 0.36%/h from about 1.5%/h.
as im writing this i tested to camera malfunction again and it malfunctioned yet again. on OOS 5.0.2 blu_sparks kernel. and also experiencing sluggish scrolling in instagram.

Would like to try, only one question. How to remove after flash? Apk unninstal, magisk module delete, but what about flashable aroma zip? Thanks for you awesome work!
Bad scrolling experience when the battery profile is load but for a beta it's really , I love the idea if the project thanks for your work

I concur. After reading this, i tried to take a picture at 4x zoom. Right after clicking the shutter button, it hung. While waiting to see if it would get back to normal, i could see occasional stutters. After rebooting, I couldn't replicate the issue again

@ZeroInfinity htc 10 stock user here. cant seem to install apk. says unable to parse application. would love to be able to use this on stock Nougat
Does it work on custom ROMs too?
Ok, so far , so good. Using it on my 3T. Can already feel the performance boost. I use G+ as a benchmark for scrolling and it has smoothed out quite a bit. Now, i will see how it does on battery. Great job, brother. Always looking for new ways to save battery. Appreciate the effort
I experience jitter scroll effect rather being very smooth. I am on OB5 with Boeffla kernel.
It is more than 10 hours now. I will watch battery saving and share here.
As someone mentioned in this thread, it is a good idea to take system backup before flashing so that we can revert.

6 Hrs SOT on 1 - 1⁄2 year old battery on RR Oreo [64-Bit]

Hi Guys,
Battery backup has been the most worrying issue on our Moto G4 Plus, let it be the stock ROM or the Custom Rom. Most of us usually get a max SOT of 3 1⁄2 hrs to 4 hrs. My moto would never cross 3hrs 40mins.
So i decided to switch from rooted stock to custom ROM. As RR is my favorite since the beginning I flashed the RR OREO [64-Bit] by Jleeblanch. (best Dev we got for G4 plus, My opinion ) Even though all 64 Bits have a little memory leak issue, the latest build has good Battery backup. The only problem faced by many people on latest build is the random reboot. this MOD solves random reboots.:fingers-crossed:
Here comes the catch,
So, i've been trying to get most juice out of my phone, tried many mods and at last found something which saved me.:victory:
The MOD : L - Speed
Follow the instructions for installing(get it on PS) and setting up the App.
It Works on 4.0+. Just be sure you don't use it with any other MOD's.
First clean up your init.d folder. after installing this MOD, you can reinstall your other MOD's.
Use a root explorer (such as ES File Explorer)
Open device directory ( / )
Navigate to /system/etc/init.d (if exists, if not, skip these steps)
Open init.d folder
Delete all files from other mods (e.g. zipalign, sqlite, setpermissions, system tweaks, etc.)
Done! Optionally, do a reboot for safety measure

L-Speed Profile : Balanced, Rest of the Tweaks as Defaults

MODEL: Moto G4 Plus XT1643
RAM: 3 GB
ROM: RR-OREO-6.0.0 [64-Bit]
BUILD: 23-04-18
KERNEL: Stock
OTHER: Using Substratum, Greenify, Dual Sim
NOTE:
I didn't use any battery monitoring app because it'll consume some battery. ( not so high but it will) if you use such apps you can see the difference, even Android system shows the app is consuming RAM and Battery.
It worked for me, doesn't mean that it will definitely work for you. I just shared my experience.
This also solved Random Reboot in RR.
Give it a try and let me know if it worked :fingers-crossed:
Your SOT may vary dependning on your usage, Wifi and LTE signal strengths.
All credits to respective developers - paget96 (L- speed), Jleeblanch (RR ROM)
For me with greenify n amplify
It's give sot 5hrs .
I kept gps to high accuracy n mobile data always on and normal screen brightness and No other modifications.
Thanks to @Jleeblanch for amazing RR Rom (64 bit)
With stock firmware + ElementalX + LSpeed I have 5-7h of SOT depending on usage. Today (charged yesterday around 12pm) I had 3.5 hours of SOT with 50% battery left after light usage like WhatsApp, Signal, Firefox, Reddit and Spotify.
Btw: My phone is 1.5 years old aswell.
I guess that a lot of people will never reach 5h SOT, even tweaked to the max. Mobile standby is eating their batteries like nothing, because of average or even bad signal strength.

Woah..! That was the highest SOT I've ever heard from a G4 P user ?. You lucky to have that battery bruh ?
Yep.. even after heaving tweaking and underclocking, the SOT would never touch 5hrs...
That's the reason I've changed to Custom ROM.
I think my SOT is quite high because I rarely use brightness above the minimum. I hate bright display settings.
And of course because of good mobile/WLAN signal strength
Edit: I have debloated my stock firmware. Removed nearly all Google stuff and Moto services which I don't need, so my usual SOT is really bound to my device and its settings.

Even i hate high brightness but my case is that i have this screen burn issue. So by adjusting the Colors makes my display feel a little low on brightness. I had to pump up my brightness to a little more than half.
Do you have any screen burn/ghost touch issues..?

Yes, my device has heavy screen burn problems no matter what brightness level.
I changed my RGB settings like on the attached screenshot.

Hmmm I've set RGB with different values. No issues for me too.
I see that you are using only a single SIM. May be this is also a factor behind your max SOT.
Debloating is the best thing to do when on stock.:good:
Yeah, single SIM bundled with good signal quality.
I am always using 2G at home because of perfect signal and no need for 3G+ because of available WLAN.
My stats today:
I installed gapps Pico on RR Oreo and I couldn't even get to the login page. Any fixes?

Do a clean flash and flash gapps nano.
It is the recommended and stable version for RR Oreo.

Sure. Any fixes to screen burn in issue as we can't use live display? It lags heavily when live display is on.

Hi Guys,
Battery backup has been the most worrying issue on our Moto G4 Plus, let it be the stock ROM or the Custom Rom.
MY SETTINGS
L-Speed Profile : Balanced, Rest of the Tweaks as Defaults
MAIN TWEAKS
BATTERY TWEAKS
I've tried with different scenario's and usages, screenshots attached.
USAGE: Browsing, Youtube, XDA and other Stuff
MODERATE
With Wi-Fi
MINIMAL
With Wi-Fi
MODERATE
With LTE Data
My Phone:

Live display is being worked out by Dev. Hope he will fix it in the upcoming updates.
Turn off live display and Use kernel auditor app.
Goto screen > set RGB values to 210,210,250.
Select apply on boot.
PS: you need root for kernel auditor to work.
Edit : you can adjust RGB values depending on the amount of screen burn you have.

Yup, I'm using a slightly modified battery saving profile inside LSpeed (disabled the CPU-Governor tuning).
Additionally I changed the min. CPU frequencies of the small cores to 403MHz and the big cores to 499MHz. Last change was one line of the CPU Governor Tuneables
(small cores / target_loads) inside Kernel Adiutor wich is shown at the attached screenshot.
Edit: You can do the same with EX-Kernel Manager, I just prefer Kernel Adiutor.
More battery drained using L speed! Phone was in desk from morning completely idle state. I was in the office. I noticed unwanted cpu frequency usage.
