[Q] Kyocera Hydro Vibe help!! - General Questions and Answers

Hey Guys, I have the Kyocera Hydro Vibe and I just rooted it today. I tweaked the crap out of it and got a little too power crazy on Root Uninstaller Pro. I wanted to replace the dialer and SMS app and accidentally deleted TelephonyProvider which now took away my service and ability to call and text...... I backed up all the apps i deleted and when I try to install them, it fails. Yes i already changed permissions and all that. I have also tried different TelephonyProvider APK's and .odex's and still nothing......My phone is practically useless right now and i have no idea on what to do. If anyone has the same phone, can you maybe take your TelephonyProvider.apk and TelephonyProvider.odex and upload them or even yet, backup your stock ROM and upload it or can someone help me troublshoot this? Ive been awake for 5 hours trying to fix this! Thanks in advanced

Stock Message .apk and .odex

Hi i deleted mine thinking i can rely on hadcent app only but apparantly handcent needs the message app,
i receive the notification of a new txt message but when i go to handcent to read it, its not there in the conversation....
all i need is for someone to pull the message.apk and .odex file and upload it for me to download if they could be so kind...
thanks
Here you go. This is from Fresh Rom.
thanks but this is not what im looking for, i attempted to get the messages.apk and .odex file from all the roms available and its not there,
if you or anyone have droid explorer and can navigate to /system/app its in there and its called "messages.apk" , thats where i deleted mine from
I think you only need the .apk. The .odex will be built once it gets some configuration data.
ok cool, hoping someone takes 5 mins out of their day to pull just the apk file for me
sorry, i was trying to help out but....
the FRESH rom doesn't have that .apk it uses a "mms.apk"
so i'm going to try to get this posted for you, but
that will require me to recover back to last week before fresh, then pull the .apk and then post it then nandroid restore back to today..
if anyone is running a stock rom then they can pull it. otherwise it will be about 30 minutes..
ok cool thanks ill be patiently waiting
alright....
these files are from my stock-unrooted phone
i couldn't find a "messages.apk" but i grabbed all these hopefully you can make it work.
the only thing i can think of is that the MR update "fixed it" by replacing the stock messaging app. that makes sense right?
View attachment m.zip
edit:you could always flash the RUU and get them back.. or flash a nandroid backup from before you removed them.
got it working, it was the mms.apk file for some reaons it is labeled messages in droid explorer, lol shoulda tried this the first time around, not 4 or so nandroid restores later thanks guys =)
i just happened to have the same problem..
thank you so much for posting the apk. and odex..
u guys are a life saver.. ^____^
stock messaging app on htc inc
how did you re-install the stock messaging apk? when i try to do install it it acts like its installing then it just reboots and it does not install... i use to be able to receive pictures (mms) but now i can't receive at all. someone please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee! thx i have the apk's on my SD card does it need to be on my phone in order to install it? sorry im a noob at this.
if all else fails (i did the same thing because i wanted a better stock messaging app) you can install go sms. its basically the same thing as handcent but i think it looks more professional.
it actually asked me if i had uninstalled the default messaging app and told me that if i said yes then it would just make itself the default so that was nice and simple =)
good luck. if not permanent this can just be a quick fix.
if someone finds a stock android messaging app that has bubbles please tell me =)
thanks
Mine says application not installed, omg, I accidentally deleted the Original Messaging File from my phone and I tried installing yours, but it says Application not installed. What do I do D:

[Q] Some quick questions

Hey xda, just a stupid noob with some questions.
I've rooted my Droid X with z4root a while ago, and I have the essentials (Clockwork recovery/ Titanium Backup/ etc.). I recently came across ROM manager and attempted theming, despite not being deodexed. Somehow it actually worked, and now I have a black notification bar and other UI enhancements, but is it a bad thing that this was accomplished without being deodexed?
Also, I've heard that gingerbread is coming to the X as well. With my root and theme, will I still be able to receive an OTA update (assuming it exists)? I haven't touched the bloatware, so only some UI bits have been changed. I can still restore from a point from before the theme, but would I need to unroot?
And lastly, assuming this update doesn't actually exist, I will end up downloading Liberty or something like it. I understand how to do it, but I'm not sure what will happen to all my contacts. What is the best way to back them up just in case?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can apply a theme withouth deodexing, but best practice is to deodex as theming odexed files can lead to issues sometimes. Gingerbread MAY br coming to the DX. P3droid is working on a release, but I believe they are working on getting it rooted.
As far as going to liberty, just make a backup prior to loading the rom. And I recommend syncing your contacts to your google account. Loading liberty will wipe everything out, but when you sync your google account if your contacts are synced to ur google account, you can restore them easily

You are a great person.
Thankyou for helping me in my time of noobiness.
I award you 10 internets.
Make sure to always do backups between updates and rom changes. Having a fall back has saved my butt on many occasions.

Yeah, I compulsively backup my phone. What's the best way to get rid of some of these unneeded backups? Just a manual delete from the SD? Or am I being an idiot and they don't take up much space?

I connect my phone to my pc and put my phone into usb mass storage mode. Then I copy the backups to my pc and then delete them from my sdcard. While some backups may not be large, the more you load and have on the phone the larger the backups will be. Many small backups can add up over time...

And I finally did it. Liberty has been painlessly installed. Thanks to everyone who helped me, Team Liberty, and everyone at XDA.
By the way, Liberty is ****ing fantastic.

[Q] com.lge.wmc and com.lge.ers

Hello, i've recently rooted my stock froyo rom (and also installed franco.kernel v18.1)... I installed Titanium Backup also, and there are two LG apps (com.lge.wmc and com.lge.ers) in the list and they are with strikethrough lines...
I also installed Root Explorer to search this files that are stored in /data/data/, and both are with "rwxrwxrwx" permission
The question is, what are these apps?? what they do?? they are safe to delete from /data/data folder???
thnx in advance
Anyone? I'd like to know too.
Echo... Echo... Anybody...
I have the same problem too...too...
Yes update your phone. You are still in froyo...

com.lge.ers
I have some issues with my phone after I rooted it and uninstalled some annoying apps because my phone was running out of memory even if I installed only a few apps (it has only 128 mb). I know it is rather old technology but I got used with the keyboard and the long battery life...
Anyways
So I took a backup with Titanium backup which seems to be useless cause now it appears that there is a file that was uninstalled with one of the applications and the backup does not have it
The file is com.lge.ers and there are probably others because my phone buttons don't work and I cannot put the phone on silent mode
Is it possible to download only those files?
Is there any other solution that would help?
Thank you so much and I would appreciate your help

[q] smart ii alcatel..please help!!

..
You should always read learn about these stuff, before do anything.
You rooted the stock rom, you deleted system apps and now you've got these problems..
What apps did you delete?
What app did you use to remove apps?
Did you make a backup of your original rom before the root? If not: bad! You should always do it!
Did you have a backup of the apps you deleted?
You should never remove system apps... But you can still freeze them with Titanium Backup or Link2SD, so if something is not working you can still un-freeze them.
Also, you should not use tools like uniflash, if it is NOT tested with your phone.
Try to go to a Vodafone shop, and say them that your phone is not working well, and you don't know why... maybe they will just change it even if it's rooted.
OR you can go here http:/ /roeddie. blogspot. it/ p/ vodafone-smart-ii-alcatel-v860.html and download AiO Fastboot, which includes: drivers, recovery, custom rom. It will auto-flash the recovery and the roeddie's custom rom. View the HELP file before starting flashing the rom!
Here I put the direct link for you

Thanks for those replies, I did make a backup but it was on my previous PC before it decided to break!!...so new computer minus backup ...lol everything I have is breaking
I have deleted all Vodafone crap except Vodafone updates, with root explorer...thing is...it was receiving calls after I deleted these apps..then suddenly it wasn't...the phone always had the delayed call answer problem that so many others have had with the firmware on this phone, so i installed the call delay patch from app market... I can make phone calls, send and receive texts but not receive calls...very strange!!....so I suppose I'll go with the custom rom ....
I'll let you know how I do with it....by the way you mention "backup"...but has no one else go one i could use?
cheers:good:
