Has anyone else had these annoying issues with the V10?
T-Mobil version, nope
Verizon version, nope... Speaker is...okay. Fingerprint scanner has worked from day one with my Ringke case. No call drops even with just one or two bars.
On tmobile, I don't use the fingerprint scanner but don't have the other 2 problems.
No problems here.. H921N dual sim variant... Wtf are the carriers doing to these phones
Verizon, no case but the fingerprint is only an issue if my fingers are a bit wet. That's it though.
No dropped calls, and I'm not noticing any issues with the speaker like he was experiencing. My only bug is that it keeps offering me tutorials on connecting to Wi-Fi/Bluetooth whenever I open those settings. Gets annoying.
I got none of those problems

no prob here

I only have a problem with the fingerprint sensor (without a case), nothing else.
T-Mobile variant here, haven't tried the fingerprint sensor but dont have the other two issues at all.
I have the T-Mobile phone and the finger print scanner with a case is a problem. Works only like 1 in 10 tries. Makes using the finger print scanner with a case not doable. But like he points out this problem has already been addressed on ATT and now just need an update from T-Moble (who would have thought ATT would get an update out first )
The other two issues mentioned in this I have not had.
Nope, don't use it and nope. T-mo bone stock.
No problems except for the fingerprint reader. I'm on Verizon using their clam shell case. It is horrid with the case on... I don't care much for the fingerprint reader anyway...

I have the T-Mobile version and only have the case issue, but its not an issue for me as I dont use cases.
I have no idea how he is having those other issues, but I dont have those other problems!
Not having any of these problems on Tmobile.
Mine is H901.
Speaker is soft comparing with G4, but mine does not have "decreasing volume" problem.
Fingerprint scanner problem with case can be easily fixed to put a conductor, but make sure your hand is dry enough.
Reception is OK with mine.
Mine problem is...USB jack because it's loose.
NO problems here as well...Had a minor issue with case not reading my fingerprint scanner, but was easily fixed. Just rescan your finger print with the case on, and also do the edges of your finger with a "poking" motion on the scanner.
H961N here.. I don't have any of those problems.
Can't say much about the fingerprint issue because I don't have any case (yet).
Fingerprint scanner is finicky with my Incipio case. Works great without case. I don't use fingerprint scanner so no biggie anyway.
Don't have the other two problems.
Give a big issue is Verizon and the fact that there is no root currently you cannot take advantage of the phone's processor or DAC if you do not have full access to the system's hardware they've taken the beautiful muscle car and put a governor on it.
Viper4android + DAC+custom roms and mods you sell a device like this is meant to be used. When I pay $700 for a freaking phone it better do everything it can.

I currently own a Galaxy S5 and previously had the Galaxy S2. Both phones had a setting that was absolutely essential to anyone that wears gloves, Increase Touch Sensitivity. I spend a lot of time on my motorcycle with gloves, so not having this feature on the Galaxy S7 is almost a deal breaker for me. I went to the Verizon store yesterday with a couple pair of gloves and tried the new S7. I was able to use the screen, but the S7 recognized less than 20% of my inputs. Did the Galaxy S6 have the Increase Touch Sensitivity feature? Does anyone know if this is specific to hardware, or is this just another example of Samsung removing features?

Samsung didnt remove the feature, apparantly as everyone always left it ticked they no longer have the option and its always enabled. Thats why the s6 and s6 are soo much more sensitive than the iphones. They havnt removed it. Ive had the s7 and s6 and both of them have been working perfectly with my gloves. The same way the s5 did with that option turned on.
I hate it enabled by default in my s7. it registers touch even if I don't touch screen from 2 millimeters away.

I agree. I find this phone very sensitive to touch.

I'm not trying to troll you, but I don't believe you when you say you can control the screen with gloves on. I'll gladly eat my words, but I would like to see a video of someone using gloves on a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. We have both models at home and neither works with gloves.
As i said it doesnt work with all gloves but it works with my thin gloves. Why dont you just but touch screen gloves

Because it's hard to find quality motorcycle gloves that work with a touchscreen.
Because I have hundreds of dollars invested in high quality motorcycle, snowmobile & skiing gloves.
Because my Galaxy S5 worked perfectly with gloves and I didn't think they would remove something that worked perfectly before.
I agree that the touchscreen on the S7 is overly sensitive compared to the S5, but I don't think your information about Samsung implementing the feature is correct. I think it's either hardware (different LCD product) or stupidity on Samsung's behalf for leaving out the feature.

Well thats true, i think the S5 was an amazing phone, they didnt only remove that feature though, they also removed hover over screen features, motion features, removable battery, and soo many more really good features , but theres no way to add this feature youre correct, but Ill still give you some options.

Yes, I have them. They wear out after a few weeks, very expensive. I wish someone could figure out if this is a hardware or software limitation.
If you have android nougat fresh version might be the problem. I just got galaxy xcover 4 with nougat and the gloves mode doesnt work.
Sensitivity is lower than other phones and i have a lot of misses while typing.
I had to remove the screen protector cause the touch was unusable...

Superman rom V2.80 for S7 had the sensitivity button in the pull-down menu.
It is very helpful!
This feature is unfortunately removed in the version 3.01

That's interesting because I thought it was a hardware issue. If what you say is true, this is just another reason to hate Samsung. I'd love to see a video of a Galaxy S7/S8/S9 working with regular gloves to prove that it works. If it actually does, and it really is a software feature, people should start a campaign to get Samsung to bring it back.
I honestly like the fingerprint placement on the S8. It's only my second day having the phone and I find It very comfortable believe it or not. And having a case or Dbrand skin ,like MKBHD mentioned, makes it even easier to distinguish from the camera lens. As soon as I pull out the phone out of my pocket and it's unlocked. What does everyone else think? Again this is the regular S8, I can't speak for the plus model.

Been using FPS since Wednesday and I don't have an issue with it in terms of location and usability with either hand. It's all about repetition going from using a thumb print vs an index finger to unlock the device.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
It's not bad on the regular s8. I tried my friends s8+ and it's more challenging for me. You have to shift your hands in order to reach it -_-
I'm sure you could get used to it on that model, but yeah, with the regular size it's pretty good.
I have the S8+

Thanks i agree not sure why the media is being so absurdly picky about the FPS it's not that difficult to use.

Yep...i have the spigen tough armor case and have no issues with the placement of the fingerprint scanner. I also LOVE the fact that it can go from sleeping to unlocked with the scanner without having to press the power button
Yes! I love that feature been using it heavily

Coming from the Pixel XL it definitely isn't as easy. I feel like the size of the reader is too small. It doesn't work every time like the Pixel did. The area for the sensor was much larger and round. All in all i don't mind it though, and still better than being on the front. S8.
I'm using the Samsung Alcantara case with the S8+ and haven't had an issue at all. Easy to find, easy to reach, quick to unlock. I also use it with Samsung Pay and Last Pass pretty often and haven't yet found it challenging. I was concerned before I got it since just about every single review mentioned how awkward it was, but no issues here. I don't have large hands, but maybe I just hold the phone differently by habit.
I'm using the wee little baby S8, the fingerprint scanner is exactly where my pointer finger rests on the back of the phone. I use a case, so that really helps. I find it to be much more reliable than the one on the S7 edge, and I love that it turns on the screen.
It is much easier than I thought it was going to be after the reviews that I read (S8)
Whether the camera lens will get filthy pretty quickly we'll have to wait and see.
It's ok on the regular S8 but it feels less responsive and slower than the Note 7 scanner to me as I have to rehit it a few times. I am finding facial or iris recognition is so much better.
Some reviews are solely basing their opinion on this FS position and giving it a less than stellar overall rating.
I got the Galaxy S8 Plus, and my finger print button works flawlessly. I really love the placement of the button, but I'm a left hand user. I'm a happy camper.

I wouldn't say i like the placement but its no longer such a deal breaker. before actually having the phone all the negative reviews dont mean anything to me now. Once i put a case on i never misplaced my finger and it works flawless.

Without a case, I still find it comfortable for my right hand pointer finger. I've gotten used to it, after a day using it. I'm on the + and it's not bad at all.
I don't like the FPS and it's position.
Under the camera would be much better and the sensor is to strict. It unlocks only if the whole finger is on the sensor but with my honor only a part of my part is enough to unlock. It's still secure but much faster. Swiping down the status bar with FPS works much better with my honor 8 too.
I'm left handed, so it's a bit more uncomfortable. However, it's much less of an inconvenience than I thought it would be and I use it often along with the Iris scanner which works incredible well. I thought I wouldn't use it at all, but it's definitely functional and usable, just not ideal. I'm using the S8.
It's all about how you grip the phone and how your hand size is.
I can comfortably hit the sensor with both left and right hands on the S8+, yes the large variant.
No other member in my family likes the position. So I'm in a minority here.
A better "universally" comfortable position would have been better.
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy Galaxy S8+, I'm just worried about the location of the fingerprint scanner.
Can anyone who has the device tell me their opinion? Is it easy to get used to it? Does it feel as natural as the front one after a while?
Thanks in advance,
David
I don't find it inconvenient but I do like center of phone better. My only complaint is it's a little slow half the time. But I wouldn't let the fingerprint steer me away from a otherwise great phone
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
Got the phone but don't use the fp scanner. I use eyeball scanner, have case on phone so no big deal on do scanner I am guided by the case. No biggie go buy your phone. S8+

I guess I'm not as paranoid as the rest are, I don't use either - just swipe to unlock the phone. Don't use any security but the finger print scanner is easy for me to use, if I wanted to use it.
I use the finger print scanner for shopping. Most of the time I'm on unlock due to location, like bluetooth on the car home wifi etc, the rest of the time I switch between eyes and finger print to unlock more to do with which up way I left the phone than preference. ?

Hello,
I had a Huawei P9, the fingerprint scanner was ideally placed for me, I have the S8 + for 15 days, at first I had difficulty placing min finger directly on the fingerprint scanner but after 2 days Use everything goes well.I also use the iris scanner that is perfect.
the fp scanner is the worse ive ever used, i dont mind the placemeny but it only works less than half the time i want to use it (probably because it is too small). the iris scanner is the best option, works all the time, even through sunglasses. Im pretty sure i could get used to it, but i prefer the iris scanner anyway
Fingerprint scanner works better than on my old S7. Only drawback is you have to pick phone up to use it. With it on front of the Z7 you could use it when phone was laying down. But with the fingerprint scanner and iris scanner both turned on, i'm happy with the S8+.
So we get the screen - protector pre-installed, and this is my 1st ever fingerprint ( under the skin ) phone
I cannot make it work perfectly as well
it takes for it to recognize it for registration
I even followed the tip where I make 2 fingerprints of the same thumb
I look at videos where ppl are touching it gently
I have to press hard if it works but most times, it doesnt recognize and I have to sorta try few angles beofe I do this
Is it because of screen protector?
Any help, tips please and if anyone can show me how their works coz I swear I am having issues
this is my 3rd sammy with the screen scanner...they work so so with the factory screen protector (this one has been the best out of s10 plus, note 10 plus) but they work way better if you remove it.
of course then your screen is vulnerable but that's the choice pretty much.
im using my note 9 today and much prefer the scanner on the back still lol
Finger print is a hit or miss for me and I don't have a screen protector ??*

It works very well for me. Not ideal but really well with the built-in screen protector.
There is one hack to make biometrics work faster - go to Optimise Battery Usage permissions and untick the com.samsung.android.biometrics entry. This will allow biometrics service to always work and will improve biometrics response time greatly.
It works, like on n10 before it. Not as good and fast as one on one plus 8 pro which I had before but it works. Best advice is to buy gearfit 2 pro or some from active watches and make it as a trusted device

Didn't feel a difference from this.
UK, Sim free handset, already tried the register the same finger twice and wasn't helping. Now got one finger four times but still the same issue. It fails so often that sometimes it goes over the 5 allowable attempts, or is just very slow, and also needs a harder press that my previous Notes.
It still has factory screen protector on.
Any suggestions?
And how do you find the "Optimise Battery Usage permissions and untick the com.samsung.android.biometrics"
Thanks.

Working great on S20U and N20U here
Register same fingerprint 2-3 times
Disable Battery optimisation for Biometrics
Disable Unlock Animation
Enable Increase Touch Sensitivity
Both phones unlock with FP with hardly even a touch
