power button - HTC One E8

Does anybody has little lose power button?
Mine is little loose. not so bad but I find it poor quality.

Mine is not loose. Its as it should be I guess, in no ways do I feel any part of my handset is cheap.

Volume buttons loose?

The volume buttons on my NS seem a little loose and rattle a bit, more than compared to my Vibrant. Anyone else have this? Just the way it's designed or a defect?
Otherwise, very impresses with the NS so far!
Pretty solid on mine, no give and does not rattle even if I shake it.
Pretty solid.. and I'm not going to shake it or do something to possible make it worse!
Mine rattles like crazy and it's super annoying. I guess if others don't do this then I should exchange mine.

Hmm, not good then, lol. I hope my BB has more in stock to do an exchange... Compared to my power button, the volume button(s) are very loose, make a rattling sound every time I even slightly touch it.

mine is but im ok with it. My unlocked one does the same the power button is not loose while the volume button is.
Nothing wrong with mine, no noise or rattle.

exchange it, my vibrant had the same issue and i got one with sturdy buttons
What a pain. I just had everything customized and setup the way I like it and now I have to wipe it and get a replacement because of a crappy plastic volume button.
But at least there is a retail location to handle an exchange unlike the N1.

Fold a small piece of paper, take the back cover off, slip it in the gap of the volume rocker that goes into the hard back of the phone and that takes care of the problem

hahaha it worked for the vibrant and it works for this too =D
Many galaxies have this. Not a big deal for me.
Thx, that's a good idea re: the paper.
I was actually able to exchange mine today no problem, but had to drive 40 minutes to another BB that had a few in stock. This new one has a slightly loose volume button, but not as bad as the first one.
Mine is a little loose then my vibrant but I can live with it
just shook the hell out of mine. no rattle. have a vibrant, also doesnt rattle.
Eh... mine Just started to rattle. Not if I shake it, but if anything touches it. If I lightly touch it it will rattle. As if there isn't enough spring tension or more like the button is to small for the slot in the case. This is going to bug the hell out if me. I love this phone and its all finally customized how I want! Should I wipe and exchange it, or will they think I am crazy?
Same problem here.
The volume buttons are quite loose and I hear some rattle when I shake it.
But that's Samsung.
I know in some cases the Nexus One had problems with the power button, but at least there were no loose parts.
So I went to best buy to see if the loose button was just how its made or a defect. The employee took a few nexus's out of the boxes and they all had the same "loose feeling". Maybe loose is the wrong word; it just isn't solid like the power button. So I guess were just stuck with it. This is still a hell of a phone, just had some pretty high build quality expectations following my N1.

Sleep (Power) Button needs more force to work(to be pressed)

Good day,
after 3 month of being mine, the Desire S's power (or wake/sleep) button started to need more force (power) to be pressed. The perfect "click" feedback under my finger disappeared too. I had the same feeling, like there would be a particle under the button of laptop's keyboard, or something like that, if you know what I mean. It happened once, I flicked it with a finger and it got better. The last time it stayed temporarily. I decided to disassemble the phone to check, whether it is a dust or a particle indeed. But it wasn't. The worst of all, the button is located on the mainboard (well, this is what I saw, it would be great, if it were not, correct me, if I'm wrong).I assembled the phone again, after moving the button a little, trying to make it be easier to press. Now the question: Are there same situations among you, dear members, any chances to fix it or to buy a new motherboard? Or should I just wait, until it stops pressing and change the phone? I like it very much. Thanks.

this happens when the phone's power button is "abused" if you understand me.........idk you can try putting a small bob of sillicone betwen the plastic button and the one on the mainboard to keep them sticked togheder.....don t use glue or something else cuz it will damage your phone's mainboard.HOPE I HELPED!
Tank you for your reply.
The worst of all is, that the contact between the button from outside and the one which is on a mainboard is fine. I'm afraid, the button on the mainboard is worn out....
I am sorry to hear that......you can try going to a gsm service and replace that button or replace the phone's mainboard.
Yes, I'm afraid, this will be the only solution. Except of one idea. I'm going to try it now. If it'll work, I'll post the instruction to solve it. And by the way, excuse me for the bad English
Guess what?? I´ve repaired it!!!! It works great, the "click" feeling is back and the button needs less force to be pressed now. Just like it was at the beginning! If someone needs the instruction, how it had worked for me, here you go, but first, I'll try to explain, what was the reason of this symptom.
The button on the motherboard has a form of a russian letter " Г ". The problem was, the upper (horizontal) part of this button (it may actually be called lever, cz it looks rather like lever)was broken. After it was broken, it looked like an english letter " I ". Surely, the silicone bob, which was fixed on the button outside wasn't enough any more, to press the lever on the motherboard. Also, the broken part of the lever, which stayed, got sharp and it cut in the silicone bob while pressing a button. So this is how I fixed it:
- I disassembled the phone first (there are several videos on YouTube, how it has to be done, but be very careful- Warranty will avoid and you may destroy your good phone). If you have a trouble like this, still having a warranty, you shouldn't even try to fix it on your own. Contact your dealer, please.
- then I picked out the power button, which is from metal, by the way
- the little silicone bob had to be cut away, because it was too small to press the lever on the mainboard. The reason could differ from mine, maybe it just worn out on your phone.
- after that I glued a tiny piece of my bicycle's brake shoe. It has to be small enough to fit there, but in the same time, it has to be bigger, than the one which was already there. The material seemed to be fine for that, because it is softer than plastic and less soft that a silicon. To create the click feeling by pressing the button, I had to pick something harder than the silicone.
- Certainly, everything depends on the size of this tiny little piece, which supplies the contact while pressing the button. You probably will have to cut couple of them, or correct the one, until it fits right. The thickness of my bob had to be aprox. 0,5 mm. After assembling the phone, it worked perfectly. I'm sure it will hold quite long, because the material of the brake shoe is known as something made for... emmm.... made to hold quite long
Maybe absolutely crazy solution, but it worked! May work for someone else. Welcome, if I did help.

[Q] Do I need just a new volume button, or the flex cable too?

I just bought a used Inspire without a volume button. I can easily "push" up and down by simply using a pair of tweezers. But I really hate to carry tweezers around with me, and I want to fix the problem.
Before I order a new volume button, I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light, based on the attached picture. Basically, I need to know if the "feet" on the replacement volume button are conductors that act as a jumper, or if they apply pressure to some additional conductor I might also be missing.
From the pictures I've seen of the replacement volume buttons, it looks like the "feet" are made of black plastic. I just hope I'm wrong, and it's some sort of metal conductor (thus making the repair simple).
Help is much appreciated!

Try using a toothpick or plastic fork to test your question...
EDIT: Dont know if i need to but the reason for the test is the use of a non-conductive surface... If the volume works with said media, then the "feet" are gonna be rigid plastic...

I am Jack's sudden embarrassment.
What look like metal contacts are not at all. They are simply buttons. All the conducting is done beneath what's seen in the picture. The two end "holes" in the picture do nothing but secure the button. I was able to simply push on the either of the inner "holes" (buttons) with a toothpick to change the volume up/down. I guess the tweezers weren't doing anything special after all.
So now all I need is the replacement volume button. Great news.
Thanks for helping me see outside the box on this one!
My inspire 4g has lose the volum button. How to fix it? Need to open

Anyone else got mushy buttons?

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else has mushy-feeling buttons, especially the volume buttons? They make a very slight 'click' but take a little more effort than I'd expect to adjust. I've kinda got used to them but wondered if it's normal?
Cheers
Mine take a bit more effort to push than I expected.
I've contacted Google and they've offered an RMA so I'm guessing mushy buttons are a manufacturing defect. Hopefully my replacement will be free of this.
I swapped my white Pixel 2 for a black one and the buttons are much better.
I have a Pixel 2 with the clicking sound problem that I RMA'd for another device, which did not solve the issue.
I did notice that the bottoms, espcially volume bottons were different on the two. The original device had a little bit softer buttons with less of a click. The second device had firmer buttons with a louder click. I actually like the softer buttons better. I would not call them mushy. There is still a definite click when you depress them.
This may not be a hardware defect but just a variance in the hardware. They probably have a tolerance range of what is acceptable. Still, I ws surprised that there was a pretty noticeable difference between the two devices.
A bit mushy out of the case for sure. With the fabric case on, they are very clicky.

Rattling inside phone

Does anyone else notice rattling when placing the phone on a hard surface like a table?
By rattling mean clicking noises, like something was broken inside. I read that phones with OIS cameras have this noise, but since the Poco F2 Pro doesn't have those, I find it strange.
The phone has not been dropped or damaged in transport (the box was not damaged).
I haven't encountered such issue. Perhaps you have a defective one. Have it replaced immediately while you can.
I dont have that either. You probably have a defective one.
I found out what is the reason for the rattling... it's the cheap volume button, which makes noise when putting the phone down on a surface. It seems it is a bit loose.
From all the phones I had recently, I find the physical buttons on the PocoF2 the worst. Uneven clicks - volume down is super loud on click, and each button feels different.
I had a Pixel 4a for a few days recently, and it also had really "clicky" buttons, but at least they were even.
I feel volume buttons are louder than power button
