App Data Recovery via ADB

Folks,
I have a HTC Aria unrooted and just upgraded to the official Froyo 2.2 build via HTC's site.
I backed up all my data an Apps via MyBackup and Astro, however when I do a restore the AT&T software sees the restore as non-market apps and of course blocks it.
I know I can restore my apps via the market, or SWM, or via ADB, which I've done. However, my issue is my actual app data is gone, for example all my memos for Wizard Memo are gone as well as all my tags for Shazam.
I suspect the data is backed up to my SD card somewhere...problem is I don't know how I can recover it via ADB commands. I've tried a "pull" of my system files but I honestly don't know how to dig through them or even what files to look for (since apparently the data isn't in the backed up .apk).
Any guidance appreciated. Yes, I tried searching Google and XDA!!!
Thanks...
Astro doesn't back up data, just the apps. don't know about mybackup

Unfortunately for you, not only does Astro not save the user data of apps but not all apps write their config settings and user data to the SD card in the first place nor is it always possible for them to due to what the data is used for. Since installing a new OS essentially wipes your phone, all of the user data is gone....and since you are on the stock rom....you can't install from your backup because of AT&T.
That's not true, titanium backup keeps app data, market links, and user data for apps.
edit:,My mistake, you are not rooted.

Thanks for your responses.
Well, I also did a MyBackup.
I bet the app data is on my SD somewhere. I am just starting to mess with ADB commands and I bet there is a way to place that data in the right lace. It's just a matter of doing a "pull" of the right data and doing a "push" to the right place.
Tht's my guess anyways.

Can I move a frozen app to SD storage?

Is it possible to freeze an app and then move it to SD storage so it uses no internal storage? I currently have to uninstall some apps so I can install others that I need at the moment, and repeat the process ad infinitum for every other app. I have already used Apps2SD and the like to move as much as I can out to SD storage. What I want to know is if it is technically feasible to ship app app to SD (app+data) (maybe putting a stub in place) and move back the actual app when needed?
Well, I didn't get any replies but what I effectively wanted to do is certainly possible, since Titanium Backup does it. I install all the apps I want to use, then run a Titanium Backup and uninstall the apps. When I need a particular app, I just uninstall something else, then restore the app (+data) I need from backup using Titanium Backup.
Problem solved.

Also Titanium Backup will give you that choice, as well as a ton of other options, like to make a backup copy of apps and their data to the sd card. Flashed my phone and restored all my programs with saved passwords data and everything using this program. The ROM I have now automatically installs all apps to the sd card unless they are required to be on the internal mem. :)

[Q] Restore apps?

Hi,
I recently sent my Samsung Galaxy Ace off for repair and as I expected, it came back wiped. I had backed up all my apps and games using ES FILE EXPLORER and I copied and pasted all my SD files onto my PC. Now I put my SD card baack into my phone but the apps and games didt load again.
So I decided to format the SD card and try again. It didnt work. Now I know the google account keeps track of all the apps you install but when I re-installed some that way, they didnt keep all my data.
Surely if I had backed up the apps and app data there is a way I can get all my apps back with my saved progress on them? Also I have read through some other threads on this and as yet cant find a non root (no titanium backup) solution.
Thanks
play store

Usually, file explorers that offer backup options do not backup app data. Just the apks. So you actually have not backed up the app data. Hence restoring it is not possible.
If your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium Backup Pro to backup all your apps with app data. Or you could use the method detailed out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511835

Helium is a bit quirky with Motorola phones. I could not restore my backup (on the phone sd card ) after upgrading my phone to Kitkat . Luckily I had made an earlier backup onto the computer over WiFi
Titanium, obackup and so on...

Creating a backup of your SD card is not that same as backing up your applications. For backing up applications with data, I recommend Titaniumbackup. It does require root though, if you're not rooted Helium is a good runner up.
For copying contents from internal storage to your PC, I'd stay away from copying files/folders using Windows explorer via MTP/PTP. My experience is that file transfers will often fail or hang. Use adb push/pull commands instead, or use an app that will run a FTP server on your phone, allowing access via a FTP client on your PC.
Ive found that Helium constantly breaks while trying to backup large APKs . So here is a work around which worked for me get a backup of installed apps and data .
Backup
1) Backup apk using ES Explorer or equivalent .
2) Backup contents of /Android/obb . ( this is where some apps like games store extra content )
3) Take backup of data using Helium using Web console . May be you can try backing up to device also .. Might work
Restore
1) You can either manually install backed up apps using any Android File explorer OR simply use ADB command line (no app installation prompts )
adb install -r APk .
To batch install on DOS use
for %i in (*.apk) DO adb install -r "%i"
2) now restore app data using Helium using web console or restoring from device .
3) Restore obb folder contents
This for me was much faster and had lesser failures due to Helium hanging :good:
