[Q] Restore apps? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I recently sent my Samsung Galaxy Ace off for repair and as I expected, it came back wiped. I had backed up all my apps and games using ES FILE EXPLORER and I copied and pasted all my SD files onto my PC. Now I put my SD card baack into my phone but the apps and games didt load again.
So I decided to format the SD card and try again. It didnt work. Now I know the google account keeps track of all the apps you install but when I re-installed some that way, they didnt keep all my data.
Surely if I had backed up the apps and app data there is a way I can get all my apps back with my saved progress on them? Also I have read through some other threads on this and as yet cant find a non root (no titanium backup) solution.
Thanks

Usually, file explorers that offer backup options do not backup app data. Just the apks. So you actually have not backed up the app data. Hence restoring it is not possible.
If your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium Backup Pro to backup all your apps with app data. Or you could use the method detailed out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511835

Also Titanium Backup will give you that choice, as well as a ton of other options, like to make a backup copy of apps and their data to the sd card. Flashed my phone and restored all my programs with saved passwords data and everything using this program. The ROM I have now automatically installs all apps to the sd card unless they are required to be on the internal mem. :)

[Q] How to back up a purchased app ?

Hi
1.Is there anyway I can backup an app that I purchased from the market and installed on my device ?
2.I recently delete my whole old google account and made another one , how can I retrieve an old app purchased from my older google account ? I have a CWM nandroid backup at that time on my SD and PC...
Thanks
You can use Astro File Manager, Titanium Backup, ES File Explorer, and a few others I can't think of right now. Just download one of them from the market. They have backup options.
But, since you bought the app from another account Google will probably see that your new account didn't purchase the app and won't let you use it. That is what happened to me. Try it and report back.
I know there is a ton of file explorers .... What to do next ? to back up a camera app for example ?
Titanium backup... use it!
Back up ur current apps then flash back to older ROM backup and then backup up those apps if u don't already have backed up.
Its easy and it will save the app and data on ur SD card.
Vs Nexus S 4G

[Q] Removing dead apps on phone?

So I restored a nandroid backup, except some of the apps aren't linked properly from the SD card anymore, so they don't show up as installed on Link2SD or anywhere else. Essentially, they're just junk, except they're taking up space on my internal memory. How can I find and remove these files, or how can I restore these apps?
U can download Rom toolbox from the play store. Then go to application manager in that app. Then click the app u want to delete them choose uninstall

Titanium Backup - Can't restore apps+data after flash

Hi guys, I recently just flashed CM 12.1 w/ Android 5.1.1 on my Zenfone 2.
Before doing that, I backed up my apps+data using Titanium Backup. After flashing, I transferred back the Titanium Backup folder in the internal storage where it originally was. I then re-installed Titanium Backup. Unfortunately, there's 0 apps that can be restored according to Titanium Backup. I even checked the Storage location and it even showed my backups.
Help ASAP. TIA
Install the apps before backup. It might work.

Nevermind, just found out that my backups were corrupted. Anyways, is there anyway to restore the data of the apps instead? I dont mind re-downloading the apps again as long as I can get my data back
In the titanium backup.
One off the two zips will have you apk inside. Just open the zip and install the apk

Hi there...how did you solve the problem?
I also have the same problem...I backed everything up then flashed cyanogenmod Marshmallow 6.0.1 then after flash copied all the backup folder back to internal memory so it can be seen by Titanium backup app and still doesn't work...it doesn't see anything...although it sees the location and the files under titanium backup/preferences/Backup Settings...Backup Folder Location..but in the app I cannot see any of the apps I backed up...how can I solve the problem..please help me
i think titanium needs to be updated to the latest version. the older version somehow doesn't work and don't see the backups properly (on my stock z3c pre rooted rom). after I installed the latest version, it worked like a charm
WARNING: Titanium doesn't backup the media folder for Whatsapp nor Wechat. backup the media that you want manually before flashing. the chatlogs are backed up properly

Hi Everyone
Sorry for digging up an old topic but I have a very similar situation and almost got gray hair already
Did anyone found a solution to the issue from opening post ?
Here's what I have done (and already regret it
- I was on stock 5.1.1 android for xperia z1 compact D5503
- I have installed Kingroot to remove some bloatware applications through titanium backup.
- Then I have made a backup of all applications of my interest (sms/mms, k9-mail etc.) and copied that to a folder on external sd card.
- Then I came over idea of Pre-rooted stock roms. Performed that (downgrade to 4.4.4, root, dual recovery, instal pre-rooted rom from zip).
- Installed TiBackup, copied all backups from sd to internal memory.
- Opened TiBackup - mind blown - no apps with backups.. In Preferences - Folder backups are shown.
Any ideas? Corrupted backups? That would make me very sad
Any help much appreciated.

OK,
I have solved the riddle. So easy and obvious that I didn't notice.
When I was doing all the stuff from the post above I was using sd card reader.
So to be on the safe side - i have copied all SD card content to win10 PC.
Then when I thought I was ready - copied all to 1 folder "Stuff" and then to SD card.
What I have missed was that during that process file extensions were changed. So all *.properties were now *.properties.txt and all *.bzip were *.bzip.zip and so on.
So my problem is solved. Perhaps someone else could use it too.
Best regards
ky0q
thanks a lot .. that solve my problem
Yeh, SD card to the rescue!
