uneven camera capture color. help. RMA? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

if I could apply a simple filter that would be sufficient.
I don't know if my old camera had this. this is an RMA I got after internal sensors like light, prox, and accel stopped working. new box, I presume new. don't see why it wouldn't be.
the phone has gotten hot before when using Qi charger. I know heat affected the HTC One m7 sensor, could it be doing so to this one?
you're looking for a roundish oval shaped tint to the photo. its roughly in the middle.
I'm getting into Instagram more and this is really bugging me. what do you think i should do? I hate to be such a pedant but...

I don't think it used to do this
older videos I don't notice it

[Q] Can anyone say they have NO lightbleed?

Received my replacement transformer the other day and thought it was OK on initial inspection, in a darkened room.
But actually, when you pump the brightness up to full, looking at a black screen (downloaded a black jpeg to test it as in the galley app the software buttons fade out so you get a true picture) it is actually no better than the one I sent back.
So my question is, using that system - black jpeg, full brightness, is there anyone out there who has no light bleed, particularly around the bottom left hand corner?
Cos if there is, it looks like this baby is going back to Comet for a second replacement, and if everyone has it, then I guess I will have to assume its a manufacturing 'feature' and just live with it.
Cheers for your help folks.

Glad there is somebody know knows how to test a LCD light bleed properly.
I have the exact same issue. Maybe its part of the design.

Check my post in the other light bleed thread. I'd be happy to explain more if you'd like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13478882&postcount=111
I did everything you said, and see no light bleed in mine. I just got mine today.

Has anyone noticed a problem with going from manual brightness to auto, and it not auto adjusting?
No light bleed here.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Zero light bleed for me as well.
at a very extreme angle i can see a little near the camera. doesn't bother me, i would have never noticed

I mean... you went through all that to find a defect? I know that we all want the perfect device but how often will the light bleed actually affect us?
I think I also have light bleed but I had to tilt the damn thing to find it and it seemed perfectly fine before reading these posts.
Does it really bother you that much that you're even willing to go through the hassle of exchanging it?
I first noticed it when I booted the tablet with the lights out in the room. I don't have any issues in normal use and it doesn't bother me enough that I'd want to send it back.
I just got my 32GB. I didn't notice it during the daytime, but at night I do see a little towards the top. But not to the point where it bothers me.
Got a couple of small spots along the bottom that i could live with only noticeable if you have light off and brightness at full, one of the corners has quite bad bleed, can see it on darkish screens without even turning lights off or even down.
Considering whether to return it.

'All that' is not really all that to be honest. I downloaded a black jpeg and looked at it whilst sat here watching the telly, took about 30 seconds in all to show up a significant level of light leaking in from the bottom corner.
If you have to tilt your unit to find any light then its not going to be a problem for you. On mine it casts a glow on the bottom corner when I am sat with it on my lap in a normal living room with the table lamp on.
For me there is nothing wrong with wanting a perfect device, I am pretty sure that's what I paid for. Had it not been perfect then Comet would have it marked as 'seconds, and would have charged me quite a bit less.
As it is, it arrived direct from the factory with this defect, and as I have said before, on a £100 cheapie off eBay I would probably put up with it, but not at 400 quid.
Add to this, unless Asus receives units back to their factory with these issues pointed out they will be unaware of the problem and have no incentive to tighten up their manufacturing process.
I don't know what is going on over in the US, but I do know they are far less accepting of poor service/goods than we are in the UK, and if these problems exist in units being shipped over there they will be flying back to Asus at a great rate of knots, and this is with the Us Transformer costing CONSIDERABLY less than it does over here.
If you have a good one, I am happy for you, and slightly envious of you. I wish I did.
On the blue boot screen or setting screen there is massive light bleeding on right and left side (about 2 inches wide). However, when there is an image on the screen it looks fine. Unfortunately I don't have a wireless connection at home so I haven't tried putting any movies or 'black' jpegs on the device for further testing; but will do so tomorrow. My hope is that when playing movies it looks fine and if so I won't worry about it. Screen has good fidelity; speakers seem decent and unit feels lighter than the acer/xoom. Also build doesn't seem that bad.

So far only immediate reactions are: Why didn't amazon put something in the shipping box like bubble wrap and what the @!#)(* no charging light? Even my $10 cell phone has a charging light.
I asked Asus phone support. They said there should be NO light bleed. I said a couple of times that mine is very slight, from the lower left corner, and he repeated that there shouldn't be any at all and that I should get a replacement.
I'm requesting a replacement anyway as my compass is broken, hopefully I can get one into my local Comet store so I can see for myself first.
A picture, as they say, paints a thousand words.
(and just to rub salt in the wound, discovered the gap along the side of the screen mentioned in another thread! 'Hello, is that Comet? I have something I need to discuss.....')

Light bleed here as well
Just wanted to chime in and say I have it too. At first I didn't notice it because I had just got it.. but after a while I found my eye being drawn down to the edges where there was light bleeding through. Its an unwelcome distraction and this unite will no doubt be exchanged for another one.

Auto adjusting works when you turn the screen off then back on.
i feel all of you. One time I bought a car and one of the tire pressures was off by the time I got home. I took the car back to the dealer several times til they got the tire pressures right on all four tires. Took a month to get it right. The nerve of these manufacturers.

No, this is more like buying a new car and your car doors or windows not shutting fully.

Weird camera issue, does anyone else have this problem?

I have had my N5 for a few months now, and it has been great. However I opened the camera app the other day against a white wall and noticed there were darker circles.
I took a picture of a brand new sheet of printer paper, in the camera app itself it is very noticeable but when you transfer it its not that bad. It does this with all camera apps I have tested. I cleaned my lens but that didn't solve the problem...thinking about RMAing it before the problem potentially gets worse, but wanted to see if its a common problem.

Blurry camera

I just want to start off by saying , YES i know there are multiple threads about the G5 and having the main camera not focus. I found that if i shook my phone, that eventually it would focus. Most people seem to fix this problem by replacing the camera. So i went ahead and bought one from ifixit, and when it arrived, the camera was DOA. They sent me another and after 1 day, the same thing happened. The phone refused to focus. So they sent me another replacement and the same thing. It wouldn't focus. They agreed to refund me. I then bought one from ebay and after installing it today, IT DOES NOT FOCUS. I have checked/cleaned the lens area , so no there are no smudges. There is 1 scratch but it does not cover the lens itself. The secondary camera has about 3-4 scratches that cover the lens, but that camera has no problem focusing. Does anyone have any ideas? I have had this phone for over a year, and apart from this issue it has been bullet proof(ignoring the screen retention problem that seem to also affect phones like the s7). I love it so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not going to help much but I'm in the same boat. I can hear the camera rattling when I shake it, and with my original camera, the focus mechanism trying to to its thing. Tried a few ebay ones labeled as "New" and got ones that are pulled from old phones and won't even try to focus or simply not work at all. I would think that ifixit you wouldv'e had the best luck with and thats pretty disappointing to hear because I was hoping pony up and just go with them next. All I've heard is that you just have to keep trying until you get one that works, then be super careful with it. Kinda sucks, at least we have the wide angle though and thats what I use most of the time for actual pictures but most apps only go through the regular camera.
I am at a lost on what to do. Its so frustrating. The wide angle camera is nice, but not as a main camera. I have to zoom and crop quite a bit since I use Fb messenger(which kills quality) and the wide angle is such a hassle. I literally gave up. I'm tired of "trying" other ones. I really don't know what to do. I guess I either live with it or, sell it for cheap, then buy a s7.

Camera fault? pictures attached.

Hi, I think I have a big problem with camera on my s8+. There's an yellow/white/green dot moving around the screen while taking picture during sunny day. It occurs also when taking pictures of any artificial lights. I've attached a video sample and picture below. Does anyone else experienced that? Should I ask for replacement from EE as I only have just received the device?

That's a lens flare. Seems like the lighting conditions at that time were causing it.
Just to verify, using artificial light (example, indoors brightly lit), do you have the dot? If not, it is simply lens flare.
If it is present with any light, just get an exchange, perhaps there is a defect in yours that causes the reflection.
side note: do you have any skin/case/whatever that may be adding to the reflections around the cam?
Nope, no skins, no cases. Was hoping that there is a plastic film on the lense, but there isn't. Or maybe there is?
It also happens with artificial lights, pictures below.
It doesn't happen with my Nexus 6p so if it's "just lens flare", like you said, I'm just gonna cancel my contract and wait for Pixel2. I can't accept anything like that from the device worth that much of money.

That isn't normal then, get an exchange.
Did you ever resolve this? I have the same problem with my new S8+
It's a reflection of whatever light source is facing the camera mine do3s it to. I will find a pic and post as well
Don't take pics facing light source.

Question Display "stains" on white background

I noticed two light blue stains on the center of the display and around the fingerprint sensor. Very light, visible only at certain angles but noticeable especially when reading with white background (Facebook posts for example). Does anyone have a similar issue?
Pretty sure those are the under screen sensors
I sure hope so. Because I'd hate for them to spread Guess I'll have to get used to it, a bit annoying but it'll be fine. Thank you for your answer!

last blue stain i had on a display where on my Nexus 7 2nd Gen (IPS display), Google replace the tablet without bothering because it was spreading. However, the OLED screen is another technology so I don't know. Maybe you should wait and see if it spread or not. I didn't experiencing anything like this on my unit.
