I have MSL code.. now what? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the MSL code from Sprint now what?
Maybe if I explain.. I called Sprint and they gave me the MSL code, now I do not know what to do with it. I am sure someone here knows what is next. Will this help unlock my phone? Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

It's used to get into your data settings by failing ##4282# from your phone. Hit edit, and it'll all for the msl. But unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't go messing around with stuff in there too much
Edit: it's ##3282#, which if you ever forget, spells ##DATA#

help help help htc arrive

Hi, I have a Sprint HTC Arrive that I want to use with Boost Mobile, so I was thinking that I could possibly change the ESN on the Arrive to match that of other device that I used to activate my Boost service. Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to accomplish this (if its even possible)?
I have already have QPST & CDMA Workshop 2.7, and have confirmed that I can successfully connect to both phones using both softwares.
Hey,
I cannot be of too much help here as I live faaaar away from you, but I once searched the web and I can assure you that there is a way to unlock the phone from provider perspective. Just adjust your keywords and Google will do the trick
Cheers
thanks.
I search a lot of keywords:"change esn","htc arrive change esn","htc T7575 esn/change esn...",what's keywords to search? pls point me.
ESN swapping may be illegal in some areas. it may be possible for u to get it activated under boost if u do not tell the reps what phone it is.

htc arrive
you need to use cdmatool to change the imei not the esn. however if anybody know the htc 16 digits password for sprint. just like the samsung 16 digit password then we will be able to get this done. unfortunaly you will not be able to change the imei unless you have this password. cdma workshop 3.6 has a new htc feature but i dont know how they did it unless they send the password before they make a change. again i can not find this password and i dont even know where to find it. if anybody has a tutorial or any idea where this password might be please let me know.

[Q] Sim Unlock MyTouch 4G Slide for FREE?

Is there any way to unlock the sim unlock the phone for free?
When I got my G2, I was able to unlock it via gfree.
If not, can a fellow XDA T-Mobile user help me out? I run on AT&T. They're free to request and only takes a few minutes...
Yes.
Search the forum, I posted something on this.

I know the Sensation had a way to unlock once you had root, I'll see if I can find the link once I get home.
Here you go.

Which part is specific to the phone? I obtained the unlock code for my phone from T-Mobile, but right now I don't have another SIM. I would like to enter the code before I get to China and find out the code I'm given doesn't work. I remember on my old Motorola phone I could enter a sequence in the dialer to bring up the unlock function, enter the unlock code, and it was good. Is that possible on the MT4GS?

Do you recommend the method from the sensation forum, or your method?
They are both posted under the sticky in the general section.

If you can get your hands on an AT&T or other non tmobile sim card, you can unlock your phone. Just insert any "foreign" sim card and the phone will prompt you to enter the code.
lol, flag down a friend and use their sim card for a few seconds
I'll try tipping **05*06390811*1234*1234# but it gave an error and then 9 try left. The method for the sensation didnt help either.
You can always call tmobile (if you have tmobile) and say that you are going to leave the country for 1 month and need to unlock the phone to use it outside. They are legally obligate to give you the code if you have been with them more than 6 months (or something like that). I dont know what are the laws outside USA

That's the reason why I started this thread. I don't have tmobile, so I can't ask for a code from them. I was hoping someone else on XDA would be able to help me out with that, by requesting a code for me.
I used a 8 year old NEXTEL sim to get the unlock prompt
I was totally aware it would not connect to any network afterwards, I only needed the prompt.
I did verify it (days later) with a AT&T sim and all was good

You have to have root to get the msl code threw the terminal . You did something wrong I can assure you it does work.
I have never used the second method in the sticky.

IFRC they are the same thing; the sensation had 2 alternatives and the one I posted is just one of the two. I would use the one I posted, it requires 2 lines of adb but should not be too complicated.
Sorry for the late reply
Try this, it may work

I got an 8 digit code, but I can't try it yet since I can't get the sim lock screen to come up, trying an ATT sim just doesn't work for some reason, trying a simple and telna sim soon.
I too am unable to get a unlock prompt. I got an 8 digit code using the method 1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Running CM9.1, so that might be why... but not sure.

You both need to be on a Stock Sense ROM to get the unlock prompt. MikTouch will do as well as bullet proof. I did it from MikTouc

I did mine on MikTouch yesterday. Worked like a champ.

[Q] How do I un throttle a straight talk Samsung centura using Msl?

I managed to get the Msl using an esn app but when I try to dial ##data# but it won't let me change setting like other sites suggest. It will just tell me server is busy. Any suggestions? any other way to remove throttle? I tried rooting but there's is no throttle folder on my phone.
Josh I ran into this post and noticed you say you got MSL for this phone from an esn app? Could you share what app you used? I don't think anyone else has been able to get MSL for this phone before so congrats to you sir
Yes please share how you did this. I have been beating my brains out trying to get this msl for the last 3 days.

$20 Bounty----Obtaining MSL code Verizon GS3

Hello. I have the Straight Talk S968C.01 aka Galaxy S 3 aka I535 . Ive tried using GetMyMSL apk, Android Terminal Emulator (using the getprop ril.MSL code, going to dialer and hitting ##3282# inputting wrong code and going back to Terminal, CDMA workshop. So, you give me the direction oh how to get my MSL and I'll donate to you $20 USD. Thanks. Of course rooted
P.s Straight Talk wont give it to me
Viper32 went down this road over a year ago. Straight talk is different for some reasons. Considering he's currently enabling phones for 3g on the ST network, I would think he probably figured it out. PM him and find out.

puk

Good afternoon all you XDA-ers out there, so ive been looking to see what the PUK code is and how it can be used on our devices. Im trying to network unlock it, and i have the PUK code, just wondering if that can be used somehow to unlock it. Thanks in advace for any/all help
Ok, so sprint told me that the device is unlockable with the msl. If the phone is deactivated, you type #7465625*638*# in the dial pad, and the phone will ask you for a code which is your msl. Once entered it will be network unlocked and usable on any network. If you reactivate it on sprint, it'll network lock back to sprint, but you should be able to repeat the process to unlock it again this is untested, but this info came directly from sprint so take it for what it is. If anyone is brave enough to try it, just know that its UNTESTED at this point still
