I have a mb886 and got a app called flashify (I am rooted of course), when I flashed the recovery to cwm I couldn't access recovery and was stuck on a android with exclamation on him. So I restored the stock but that didn't fix it. Is there anyway to get cwm or the stock to work?

the dead android should be stock recovery. you usually need to push a couple buttons to get past that into the actual stock recovery. search your devices forum for the method if you don't know how.

I flashed a recovery with odin, and rooted my phone. However, I can't get it boot into CWM recovery. ROM Manager says I have CWM 3.0.0.8, however whenever I reboot into recovery it opens "Android System Recovery <3e>" in blue lettering.
Any insight?
same here.

Hi. Did you boot into stock ROM after flashing? If so, that's why you lost everything. If I were you, and I was about a year ago, I would go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
P.S. don't use ROM manager to flash anything. Bad things usually happen

Hi.
I recently upgraded my phone to ics 4.0.4 from 2.3.6. After i upgraded i tried to use superuser to grant root application to an app and it says i did not have root Access. I tried unrooting my phone back to the stock os but clock work recovery kept giving me error 7. Is there any other way i can regain my root privileges again?
Using nexus s 19020A. Thanks in advance
Use a newer clockwork recovery (v5.0.2.0 or later). You'll need to flash this manually through fastboot.
If you still got cwm recovery installed flash the latest su.zip
I have the same issue. I successfully unlocked my ns4g but can't seem to root it (or at least root check says so). every time i run su.zip through fastboot my screen shows the green android guy on his back with an open panel on his stomach and a red triangle with an "!" in it. Anyone have any idea how i can fix this?

You have to flash the superuser in cwm, not run it from fastboot

Sorry i sort of mistyped. I start the phone in fastboot, then scroll to recovery and then i get the android guy with the "!". I used to be able to get into CWM when i would run the SU.zip which seemed to do nothing. After it didn't root the first time i tried a few things and now i dont seem to even have CWM. Is there a way to get the phone back to stock so i can start over and try again? Or is there a way to root it seeing that im already unlocked? BTW thanks for the response.
If you have bootloader unlocked, flash cwm from fastboot. After that you enter in cwm and flash the su package
Hi All,
I've looked all around for the answer to this and am thoroughly lost. I have the Verizon Galaxy S3 with VRALHE. I rooted it, then used EZ-Unlock 1.2 to unlock the phone, then installed Rom manager and flashed CWR. It says it installed 6.0.1.2 but when I try and go into recovery it only goes into Android Recovery. If I flash CWR and right away click the boot into CWR button it seems to go but after that it will only go into Android Recover both via Rom manager and holding Volume Up, Power and Home. Anyone know whats going on?
Thanks for your help!
If it does go into cwm the first time then after that stock there are two files you need to erase that basically reinstall the stock recovery on reboot. I can't recall them, but you could probably search here and find them. Or the easier way is busy flash a custom ROM n that first boot into cwm. By the way ez recovery is better for installing our recoveries, give it a shot.... It may sick without the extra stuff I just told you.

Anyone know where to look into about the files that need to be deleted? I'm not finding much. EZ recovery worked the first reboot but returned to Android recovery after a reboot.

I would recommend re-flashing Clockworkmod Recovery from EZ recovery, then using EZ recovery to boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, after your are in Clockworkmod Recovery select the "Reboot system" option, you should then be asked if you want to erase two files to make Clockworkmod Recovery stick permanently (At least until you flash a different recovery) select the "Yes" option, then after it has completed that task the phone should reboot, while it is rebooting boot into recovery and you should find that Clockworkmod Recovery is still installed.
I like to help, but Google stuff. This is what you would have found as the second result
/system/recovery-from-boot.p*
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

So to confirm to everyone, Deleting the 2 files above does work! So delete the files then re-flash CWR and restart that's it!
I wanted to thank everyone for the help!
Same problem but a little different

I have the same problem sorta, my phone instead of going into CWR it goes into Android system Recovery, and it asks me for an update, I was trying to root my phone but it won't even let me go into recovery so I can root it. Do you know why it's asking me this? Also idk if this helps but the android dude is in the background with an open stomach and a triangle and an exclamation mark in it. Hope my details were helpful, thanks.

What rooting guide did you follow? Did you flash Clockworkmod Recovery yet? If you can provide me with this information I can try help you further. If you haven't flashed Clockworkmod Recovery yet then you will be presented with the normal stock Android recovery system that you described.

Ummm... You do not necessarily go into recovery to root it. Have you installed and used Odin through your PC? You say you are trying to root your phone, so before you get ahead of yourself trying to flash recoveries I recommend reading up a little bit, it is very important you follow directions specifically or you will brick your device....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
There is even a video watch it while you root your phone, and pause along with it.
If you have already done some of this, and done any of it wrong there are steps to recover through Odin.
I cannot boot into recovery. I used a rootkit to unlock my bootloader and root my phone. TWRP worked fine when i tried it out for the first time and than i forgot about it. Today I tried to access it and it would not work. When I try installing TWRP from GooManager it just says it will download but it never does and then after a while the app shuts down. I tried flashing clockwork mod recovery from Rom Manager and it downloads all the way and than says that a problem occured. Can somebody please help me with my situation. When I press the power button and the volume down button and it brings me to the bootloader and i navigate to recovery, it just brings an android guy with a red triangle. please help me. I just want a custom recovery. I don't care what it is. Either TWRP or clockwork mod.
UPDATE: I figured out I lost root access so I rooted again and I now an successfully rooted but I still do not have a recovery. I tried to boot into the stock recovery but it will not work. It just shows a red triangle. So than I got TWRP Manager and tried to install TWRP from there but it still will not work.
UPDATE: I got Rom Manager and I looked in it and it said that I still had TWRP when I really had no recovery. So than I saw the option to get ClockWork Mod Recovery. I clicked on it and it installed successfully! So if you are having this same problem. Good luck to you. I hope what I did works for you.

Glad you got it sorted. For future reference, that android guy with the exclamation is stock recovery. You have to press vol up and power to get the menu to come up.
Background:
I attempted to root the device. so I installed CWM... Well it doesnt stick. once you boot it never stays. When I go into recovery mode from the boot loader it says "no command" But if I flash it and then reboot right into the bootloader then go into recovery it works fine.
First issue: CWM doesnt stick
which led me to another issue..
ADB doesnt work in CWM (which I thought). So I decided to flash PhilZ recovery and found it didnt work there either! So I figured it had to be my drivers - but they worked fine in Windows and when the device is booted normally in the OS. (I am using Nvidia latest drivers)
Then I figured let me restore the unit back to the original image (i signed up as a developer) downloaded the Nvidia 1.2 Image and reflashed everything using fastboot (system, boot, recovery, data, etc.)
Since I had never tried to go into the stock recovery maybe it was CWM or PhilZ...
Leads to my next issue:
The stock recovery doesnt work no matter how many times I flash it. When I go into the bootloader and click on recovery mode I get "no command" with the andorid guy dead.
1. How can I get back the stock recovery using Nvidia's image. The recovery is not working
2. How can I get CWM to stick?
3. Why isnt ADB working in recovery mode but working fine when booted in the device?

All has been fixed except for #2. Cant get CWM to stick... but for 1 and 3:
OK.. got the stock recovery - I didnt actually know you had to do volume up when at the "no command" screen..
and also I figured out how to fix the driver issue...
For anyone else having the issue you need to uninstall the driver until it shows up as Shield with the exclamation. You must be in the recovery in an area like sideload.. (Not in android OS)
Then Update Driver, Browser and then click on "Let Me Pick from a list on my computer"... find Android then select "Android Composite ADB Interface".
Now the driver works in ADB and in the OS
Same Problem
I'm having the same problem with CWM reverting to stock recovery after system boot. I didn't see your post until after I posted my own thread -- I probably should have titled it specifically about the stock recovery reversion so others will find it. Anyway, not that there's at least one other person besides me having this problem, I'm less worried that it's just me being stupid. Although that's always a possibility. Maybe someone will come along and help.
Recovery Reversion Problem Solved
Okay, I solved my recovery reversion problem -- I wasn't using either a custom boot.img or the Beta SuperSu (currently BETA-SuperSU-v2.42.zip), one of which is needed to keep root on Lollipop. (Apparently I knew this a month ago when I first went to 5.0.)
