[Q] Booting into CWM with Samsung Fascinate - General Questions and Answers

I flashed a recovery with odin, and rooted my phone. However, I can't get it boot into CWM recovery. ROM Manager says I have CWM 3.0.0.8, however whenever I reboot into recovery it opens "Android System Recovery <3e>" in blue lettering.
Any insight?

same here.

Hi. Did you boot into stock ROM after flashing? If so, that's why you lost everything. If I were you, and I was about a year ago, I would go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
P.S. don't use ROM manager to flash anything. Bad things usually happen

ROM Manager Not Backing Up

Hey guys, I'm currently running the leaked JI6 Froyo update that has been deodexed and the kernal has been changed to allow for <2e> recovery mode.
In Rom Manager (Premium), I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery successfully, and selected Backup Current Rom. I named the ROM, pressed OK, and it rebooted to <2e> recovery mode.
Then it just says:
# Manual Mode#
--Applying muti-CSC...
Installing Muti-CSC
and it just hangs there. I waited 10 minutes and then just rebooted the phone. I also tried selecting "reinstall packages" which also just rebooted the phone.
One solution said to select "Flash Alternative Recovery" after flashing ClockworkMod and then reflashing ClockWorkMod but the Flash Alternative Recovery option is greyed. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
The leaked captivate has the 2e recovery preventing you from using clockwork mod and thus rom manager. There is a way to flash a different kernel to allow user of clockwork. Do some digging in the dev section and you should be able to find it

when you are in 2e recovery, you need to select reinstall packages, let it reboot, then select it again. you will be put into clockworkmod

You're thinking of 3e.
like pirateghost said, you need to reinstall packages twice. The second time you will see a green recovery screen and that is 3e recovery.
Also, you shouldn't really use ROM Manager for anything anymore. There are update.zip files that you can download that will get you into the correct recovery and you should do your flashing and backing up from the recovery screen not ROM Manager.

Ya I must haver been thinking of the wrong recovery. Agreed about rom manager though it is essentially only a gui interface but it does not always works and just adds complication/problems

[Q] Stuck At Boot Logo

I was following this one guide on addictive tips on how to root, install 3e recovery file and then flashing the clockworkmod to "Samsung I9000" with Rom Manager.. some how when I rebooted the device after I get stuck at the Samsung boot loader screen. Unfortunately I cannot access the recovery menu either which is odd. Is there any way to fix this or at least back up my app data and stuff before using Odin? Any help would be nice

All files on SD will still be there if this helps. You tried a battery pull and attempt a reboot to get back into stock??...just making sure. No insult intended.

What Eric_T said. if you do odin i think h8rift has a step by step that does a 3e recovery and what not.

[Q] Phone boots into CWM Recovery every time. Any fix?

So I used Rom Manager to install CWM recovery on my One S and now it boots into CWM recovery every time. A few times I've pulled out my phone and it's been stuck at the CWM recovery menu from what probably was a hard crash.
It's rooted and on the official stock ROM.
Any way to remedy this?

Installing CWR - Not working

Hi All,
I've looked all around for the answer to this and am thoroughly lost. I have the Verizon Galaxy S3 with VRALHE. I rooted it, then used EZ-Unlock 1.2 to unlock the phone, then installed Rom manager and flashed CWR. It says it installed 6.0.1.2 but when I try and go into recovery it only goes into Android Recovery. If I flash CWR and right away click the boot into CWR button it seems to go but after that it will only go into Android Recover both via Rom manager and holding Volume Up, Power and Home. Anyone know whats going on?
Thanks for your help!
If it does go into cwm the first time then after that stock there are two files you need to erase that basically reinstall the stock recovery on reboot. I can't recall them, but you could probably search here and find them. Or the easier way is busy flash a custom ROM n that first boot into cwm. By the way ez recovery is better for installing our recoveries, give it a shot.... It may sick without the extra stuff I just told you.

Anyone know where to look into about the files that need to be deleted? I'm not finding much. EZ recovery worked the first reboot but returned to Android recovery after a reboot.

I would recommend re-flashing Clockworkmod Recovery from EZ recovery, then using EZ recovery to boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, after your are in Clockworkmod Recovery select the "Reboot system" option, you should then be asked if you want to erase two files to make Clockworkmod Recovery stick permanently (At least until you flash a different recovery) select the "Yes" option, then after it has completed that task the phone should reboot, while it is rebooting boot into recovery and you should find that Clockworkmod Recovery is still installed.
I like to help, but Google stuff. This is what you would have found as the second result
/system/recovery-from-boot.p*
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

So to confirm to everyone, Deleting the 2 files above does work! So delete the files then re-flash CWR and restart that's it!
I wanted to thank everyone for the help!
Same problem but a little different

I have the same problem sorta, my phone instead of going into CWR it goes into Android system Recovery, and it asks me for an update, I was trying to root my phone but it won't even let me go into recovery so I can root it. Do you know why it's asking me this? Also idk if this helps but the android dude is in the background with an open stomach and a triangle and an exclamation mark in it. Hope my details were helpful, thanks.

What rooting guide did you follow? Did you flash Clockworkmod Recovery yet? If you can provide me with this information I can try help you further. If you haven't flashed Clockworkmod Recovery yet then you will be presented with the normal stock Android recovery system that you described.

Ummm... You do not necessarily go into recovery to root it. Have you installed and used Odin through your PC? You say you are trying to root your phone, so before you get ahead of yourself trying to flash recoveries I recommend reading up a little bit, it is very important you follow directions specifically or you will brick your device....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
There is even a video watch it while you root your phone, and pause along with it.
If you have already done some of this, and done any of it wrong there are steps to recover through Odin.

[Q] Unable to enter the CWM Recovery mode

Hey guys,
I recently rooted my Galaxy Tab 2 P3110 , then installed CWM, and then went on to install the Cyanogen Mod 10.1.3. Installation was succesful .I then used the tablet for about 5-6 hrs before i restarted it. Now the tablet is stuck showing the Cyanogen logo. I have waited for an hour and still nothing happened.
When i tried to enter the CWM recovery mode, i end up getting the ODIN screen or the stock recovery mode.
Any ideas as to how i can resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance
Does it bootloop or just stick at boot animation?
If it's stuck at animation you may be able to adb push recovery.

It just stuck at animation.
I don't know the Windows process of an adb flash of recovery.
You can also try to flash it with odin

I tried the ODIN method. I first downloaded the stock rom and then used ODIN to flash it. It says Pass in the ODIN App but when the device reboots, i still get the cyanogen logo which goes on forever..!!
I had the same issue with being stuck at the cyanogenmod boot animation. I went back into recovery, did a wipe data/factory reset. Once I did that, I flashed the .zip file from my sdcard and it worked fine. As far as your installation of CWM, you must have not installed it correctly. I use Philz Touch Recovery for my P5113.
