Just bought a LG G3.. - AT&T LG G3

Bought a LG G3 yesterday, I'll have it Monday.. I've been looking at the reviews and can anyone explain why the damn phone doesn't come with headphones? That's a first for me... All i've heard is good things about this phone so the fact it doesnt come with headphones doesnt lure me away at all just found that odd.. lol.

Seriously. You base whether or not you buy a phone by if it comes with cheap ass headphones???

Att? They stopped shipping head phones right after the galaxy s3

No they didn't. It depends on the manufacturer cause the m8 comes with headphones.
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk

Orly? Didn't know that. I know my s3 came with, my wife's note 2 did not, and the g3 did not. I thought it was an AT&T thing trying to make more money

Yep, just looked in my M8 box, and sure enough there are headphones. Things are so cheap, I would have never noticed them until I sell the phone, lol. None in the G3 box, oh well, I am crushed.

I don't typically use them anyway. But I do have a set I use on occasion which came with old Captivate.

I got them with the Att S4.. But it's not a big deal I have tons. I'm just curious as to why they wouldnt include headphones..

Thanks man! I have some nice headphones, I'll check it out though. I was just curious as to what was the marketing point.

Only think I can think of would be cost. Yeah, they may only cost a dollar, but look at how many galaxy note 2's were sold. It adds up.

No I know. I just found that wacky. It's usually staple.

The carriers remove them because they want to make money. If you but it from Korea it will come with them. The factory headphones are ok (I have a pair from my Korean G3), however I just use my Bose headphones.

You get them in most part of Europe too. I got them with 3gb ver. I would get very mad if i got z2 without noise c. headphones bcs. those are great but those come here to and few expensive addons too.

Lol my job is to review phones and over the past two years the only phones I can think of that had headphones were the Amazon Fire Phone and we'll that's it. They are cheap, crappy headphones. Not sure why it matters.

I don't think its the carriers removing them. I mean who the hell thinks to go to their carrier to buy accessories like head phones? Lol. Its a shame then g3 didn't come with headphones. Im still using the "Quadbeat" ones that came with my original optimus g. And they sound fantastic. My.brother has the g2, and he loves the "Quadbeat 2" phones that came with that. I seem to remember a g3 unboxing vid that showed it coming with the quadbeat2 headphones.... I'll investigate!

It's a money grab, pure & simple. Same reason why US carriers told LG to omit the wireless charging case, while the rest if the world has it included in the box. US carriers would rather sell you a set of overpriced crappy earbuds, and many people settle for that because they are too lazy or impatient to buy a decent set from another source. Most Americans want immediate gratification, and carriers cater to that mindset.

I found it odd but I already have 6 pairs of ear buds already .
If you have some good ones already I'd just use those.

Mine came with earphones? They are the best damn earphones I've ever seen coupled with a phone, very ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in your ear and tight fit so the sound from outside can't be heard. Comes with different sized rubber bits for bigger/smaller earholes.

Headphones

Hey all, so, my headphones finally broke after months of intense use (the left headphone doesn't work anymore, but the right one still does).
Does anyone have a cheaper recommendation other than the stock SGS4G headset? I love the thing, but I just wanna see what other possibilities there are. $30 for a headset seems like a pretty generous amount.

I posted this before, but here it is again:

SnuggBuds.
I use these I used them for running to. They have great bass sound.
I purchased the headset from AntonX's post. I'm waiting for them to arrive now. I'll keep you guys posted on whether or not it's comparable to the OEM headset.
Then again, it's shipped from Hong Kong, so I'm guessing it would be authentic Samsung...
On another note, I realize that ALL of my headphones always break from the connector. One of the earbuds always end up failing on me. I'm guessing it's because I don't store them away properly (I just coil it up and put it into my ass pocket). So...how do you guys keep your headphones safe?
I purchased them a month ago too. They are under dust in my bedroom corner. Poor sound, difficult to plug in properly to get the most sound. I dont think this is authentic from samsung. They r just fake.you get what you pay for

Hm, that's strange. I myself found links to these on xda I9000 accessory forum, and people who bought them didn't seem to complain and actually made impression that these were original Samsung OEMs. Well, the ones that came with the phone don't sound that great either, maybe just OK.
I have a pair of these too:
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HA-FX35-B...DVRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310007450&sr=8-1
They are not perfect but quite good for cheap ones.
in terms of sound quality ive always liked skull candy, they last me about 6 months, but i dont know if theyre coming with mics in them
just bought it last monday on sale 7.99 its a good ones

Okay, I just received the five headsets from this guy. They were ALL defective. They are not even close to acceptable, and the answer/end call buttons don't work either.
Wish me luck on returning these to Hong Kong.

I'd recommend something like Skull Candy Mic'd
That model is only $20, and is the same style as the Samsung ones. They feel about the same in comfort, but they definitely sound better with music.

Hrm, that's definitely something I'll look into. How is the call quality on that? For the Samsung OEM headset, it sounds pretty good.
Btw, you can get them from Amazon for cheaper, and Skullcandy still provides warranty for them!

Quality and awesome bass

For anyone that may be remotely interested, timesaviour on Ebay (the seller mentioned by AntonX) has the OEM headset for Samsung Galaxy S I9000. All the headsets he sent me didn't seem to work for the SGS4G though (except for one that was actually a SGS4G OEM headset).
Still, he was cool enough to give me a refund for the defective ones.
I'll definitely be checking out the Skullcandy Ink'd Mic'd though. I've generally had great experiences with Skullcandy, and with warranty, why not!
I like the stock Sammys, but the Beats by Dre are phenomenal...although a tad bit costly.

If you get on ebay an search for best buy outlet, they usually have some great deals. I've bought 3 sets of insignia Bluetooth NS-BTHDP behind the head headsets. And they are really good. I paid $20 or less for each set from best buy on ebay. I hate the earbud kind. Oh these insignias were about $120 in stores when I bought them. I don't know how much they would be now. And they give you free shipping on them. So if you like Bluetooth headset id say check that out. And all mine were brand new still in original packaging. Hope this helps out.

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I'm not really a music enthusiast. I just listen to it for boring train rides, walks, etc.
So far, I'm really convinced with the Skullcandy Ink'd Mic'd though. Can't really go wrong for $15 + warranty!
Has anyone tried Thinksound ts02+mic?
Is it me, or do iphone headphones work improperly on the SGS4G?
Specifically, I can't get the button the play/stop/skip track properly. It works sometimes, but very inconsistently.

Anyone think the earbuds are great for free

ones included with a device? They have amazing bass, great mids, alright highs. I mean sure, obviously they're not comparable to $400 earbuds, but I'd say they're as good as the $140 Klipsch ones I had before my dog ate them(yes, I nearly kicked my dog through the wall and two towns over...). Good noise isolation alone is extremely rare, and these are pretty good. I can have the volume all the way up and no one can hear me more than 5 feet away, and I can have sound off and still not hear any external sound.
Is this typical of Samsung?
Once again, I'm not saying people should buy an Infuse instead of $400 hifi earbuds, but I AM saying they're great for something you get free with a device.
Keep in mind that Samsung has had some fine personal media players for some time now.
I hadn't even though of trying them.. Guess I'll try have to try them out.
yeah and they are cheap to replace the most ive seen on amazon is like 5 bucks. i bought my self and extra pair just in case.

Yeah, like I said don't expect perfect lossless playback, but they're amazing for free. And like the other person said, they're cheap to replace. You can buy a few variations which are all essentially the same on amazon for $2-5.
I've had 3 Samsung phones that all came with free headphones. In my opinion they are better than $20 skullcandys. With voodoo sound and volume cranked all the way up I get no distortion, not bad.

I bought a set off amazon for cheap but were fake, real obvious fakes even though their description said originals.
they were labeled "Samsnug" was the first give away, I compared them to my originals, the cables were not flat, the fakes are round originals are flat.
other give away, is the strain relief at the end of each ear bud was longer, the real ones are shorter.
I gave up and bought a set off ebay from a S4 owner who didn't need them, they were originals with new extra set of ear buds.
Cost me 11 bucks. there are a lot of them on ebay but really hard to tell if they are fakes unless they are come out of the S4 box.
Good luck.

The samsung earphones are not good anyway. I'd rather get smth else really.
Did anyone ever find a place to get these? I'd really love to get another set... Mine are almost shot.
Why stay with OEM headphones that came with the phone? They're usually ok, but not necessarily specially tuned for the audio drivers in the device to provide the best experience. I have a cheapo $20 pair of SoundAura BT headphones and a pair of Puggs in-ears. With Viper4Android I've blown my friends Beats and Skullcandy's out of the water with clarity and bass. In this age of mods you really can have just about any set you want and tune them yourself with apps. You can't really expect original phone headphones to stick around too long after the device is released.

I've tried several different (cheap) ear bud headphones and they all suck, I was so surprised when I tried the ones that came with this phone they really were great, they stay in my ear when I turn my head, the plug end hasn't failed after years of use, they sound good enough for me and much better than any other cheap ones I've tried... they even block out other sound from the surroundings surprisingly well. I dunno all around I was just really impressed with these ones -- all the little details.
They seem to me like a legitimate product of their own rather than some worthless value add that doesn't add any value.
Really though I was just hoping I'd get lucky and find someone on here that happened to have a pair laying around they didn't want!

So researching and most reviews are saying that the jaybird bluebuds x2 are the current best.
My dog ate my LG tone pro hbs 730 which are older but good.
Trying to figure out best ones to get. Want great sound and something great for running as well. I hear the x2 cover all that. Specially with the comply buds that come with it now.
The other was considering as the new lg infinim. Up to other suggestions as well.

I'd like to get on ear or over ear, something small tho. The in ear tend to hurt me, on ear might if they are too tight.
I recommend the hbs-810 or second gen tone ultra. Half the footprint of the tone infinim with retractable earbuds. The x2 is my best sport headphone set but isn't ideal for office environments. That is where the tone shines.

Ive found expensive bt headphones dont sound much better, but perhaps last long fit btter look better or have more features.
My point wasnt to buy them on groupon or that they had any btter price, but more a comparision at sub $40-50 worth buying~
Ive seen some recomendations, features, look and talk about how it feels after wearing for a while. Once i can determine decent ones ill search for pricing.

I'm saying there were other suitable headphones in that article beside the move

OnePlus Buds

Anyone else order a pair? I ordered two, one pair for my wife, and one for me. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the Bullets that came with the phone.
I want them but I don't think they could replace my AirPods Pro so may just skip on them.
Or maybe get them as a secondary pair for the gym or something.
Ordered and then realized they won't work unless I update my device. Kinda sad as I don't wanna lose photochrome filter. Maybe I'll gift them to my wife.
My buds have arrived, and I have to say, I am impressed. The sound is crisp and clear with plenty of bass and volume. Definitely worth the price, imo.

Hmm.. Might get a pair but I'm not sure if it will compete with my AirPods Pro

Probably not, but at less than a third of the price, I got a pair for myself, a pair for my wife, and money left over for dinner.

You do know that you can update and keep photochrom, right?
I got it today and it's very good. I'm happy with it. One thing, to me it is a little quiet outside, can i boost somehow the volume up without root?

Nah every forum post I've read said it disables that camera and no longer works the same.

Whatever floats your boat. I'll take software updates and hardware over creep shots.
yeah if you are into heavy bass music these are definitely good. Not my cup of tea.
I'm considering these even though I'm not sure how much I'd use them.
I tend to throw on the wired buds I have from my Google phones.
I understand if you use the 1+ app that's made for these buds, the experience is quite good.
More options and supposedly the buds receive updates too.
How have you found it?
TIA
BTW I don't care what anyone says, this is definitely the best phone I've had to date

The buds do receive updates, as there was one available out if the box. I haven't found an app yet, but still looking.
edit: now I'm reading that the app would be on your phone after a recent update to the buds themselves. it definitely gives you more functionality according to the reviews.
there's supposed to be an app on the play store for the buds. I don't see it either but it's mentioned in virtually all the reviews.

I found some settings in the sound settings, but haven't found a standalone app yet.

Hi, I am in the same situation. Have you tested buds with old firmware? Thanks

I have not opened them. If my buddy doesn't end up buying them from me I'll test it out.

thank you in advance
OP buds are poor in design , sound quality & fonctionality. Fluid design is gone out of the window on that one . Whom ever signed off on those OP buds at OP need an apraisal . I got my money back and went back to a cheap set on amazone at £18 perfoming better them OP buds .
The buds are really good actually I was very surprised. They are just made for the oneplus 8pro and I'd recommend viper4android mod too it's amazing. I like how they pair quickly and have good support for our phones. I also have airpods for my ipad etc and they don't sound as good as the One Plus buds.
Agree, so far they are pretty good!
